To be a true reflection of God now, a true mirror, an image bearer of God now, in the world now, and to actually share in His purpose as an ambassador, a reflection of God. 2 Corinthians 5: 17 - 21 is a key Scripture in this book that you're brand new, you're not sort of new, you're not that old self, you don't define yourself by that old man, that old nature, that old sin. You have a brand-new nature, you're a brand-new person in Christ, and you have, you get to share in His purpose and walk in His authority right now. And that's the clarion call in this book, is that everything that was lost in the garden has been found in Jesus. Will you take it up? Will you live out of the truth of all that's been found for you, and live with meaning and purpose and power in your life? Because that's where you find your true identity. It's all found in Jesus.---Listen to Lorie Hartshorn, an acclaimed international speaker, author, and Bible teacher being interviewed by Joanna la Fleur. You spend a lot of time at work. And when you're not at work, you're often thinking about work. What happens when the places God designed to lead us closer to Him, to healing and wholeness, and freedom, become hurtful and toxic? When past hurts create present anxiety that make it challenging for us to enter church buildings, join community groups, and connect with Christ? Unfortunately, many people wrestle with these questions as they try to make sense of God. For those who have been wounded by people in positions of authority, it can be hard to untangle truth from human criticism and God's character from the false representation of Him. In this episode, Minister Dawn Gentry, the Executive Director of Adult Ministries at Christ Community Church in Omaha, Nebraska, and Jennifer's daughter, Ashley Chester, discuss some of the church hurts they've experienced and witnessed and how God helped them move toward increased wholeness and gave them the courage to overcome lies spoken into their hearts in order live for Him. This week on Real Talk with Rachael I'm talking to the Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries at Gateway Church, Bridgette Morris. She and her husband, James, have been married for 12 years. They have three beautiful kids, two boys, and a girl, who keep them on their toes but are always good for a snuggle. She loves the outdoors and can often be found with her hands in the dirt, tending her garden, or working on a project. Bridgette has been part of Gateway Church since 2008, serving in various ministries and creative areas, including Gateway Worship as a vocalist and worship pastor, and Gateway Performing Arts. She loves living out her passion to see women fully equipped to walk out the calling God has placed on their lives. Key Points from Our Conversation: We have to let go of the perception that everyone else is killing it. No one is "doing it all". You can do everything, but not at the same time. Be mindful, purposeful, and intentional with what you're doing. We have a lot of responsibilities, authority, and opportunities to do a lot of things, but we need to realize that for one thing to thrive, another thing will suffer. It's time to let go of perfectionism. Some things won't get 100% of you. It might be time to consider what you can outsource. There will be other seasons where you can pick things back up, but if it's not the priority now, let it go. Bridgette is living her mission to inspire women to live a Christian life, encourage those who are trudging through, and equip them so they can take action through Gateway Women. Inspiration is the motivation to get started. Encouragement is for when you're in the middle of it. It's easy to get inspired, it's hard to keep pushing through. Be aware of who's around you and listen to the Holy Spirit. Look for people in need of encouragement. Women are gifted at discernment, so lead with compassion and things will fall into place. It's hard to encourage someone you're comparing yourself to. Flip the script. Cheer her on and pray for her. Equipping is the practical how-tos. Determine what's on your plate and what you can take off of it – what has the Lord put on it and what did you add? Also, consider what it would look like to apply the practical application of your strengths. Being aware of your season, strengths, and weaknesses is the key to being effective in your life. Once you know those things, you can determine the resources you need. Give yourself a break. We all want to be our best. God knows our heart, so on the days when you feel like you're failing, give yourself a break. He's giving you more grace than you're accepting. Allow yourself to receive it. Let's Get Real Practical: What balls are you currently juggling? List them all. It's helpful to see them. What ball/balls is God saying it's okay to drop? Mark them off the list. Which balls have dropped that shattered? God is in the business of cleaning up our mess.  Episode Sponsor: Sign up for JOYmail – my monthly newsletter that's full of resources that deliver a little joy and practical action steps for life into your inbox. We all know people who view leadership as something they've arrived at. Maybe we've even been that leader. But leadership is never supposed to be about you and what you achieve, but rather it is about empowering others and developing people. In this episode, Krista Penner from our Leadership Development team is talking with speaker and author Lorie Hartshorn, host of the national daily show The 700 Club Canada. They discuss the need for leaders who are committed to investing into people—developing and empowering them in a way that lifts them up. You'll get to hear them talk about the importance of humility in leadership, how to lead when you're not the one in charge, and how we absolutely must grow in our emotional intelligence if we're going to be able to lead the way God intends us to. Grounded in the truth and hope of God’s Word, we press into hard conversations asking, listening, and learning about experiences beyond our own to gain a deeper understanding from our marginalized brothers and sisters in faith. We commit to learning individually and collectively from Scripture, each other, and other resources that speak directly to racial issues, inequalities, and injustices. We will use our voices in our circles of influence to speak the truth to policies, institutions, and individuals concerning racism. Finally, we recognize our utter dependence on God’s grace and strength for this journey in seeking to walk together more effectively, and that His Glory through His son Jesus is our greatest calling.

It's one thing to point out a problem.  But it's another thing to offer the solution. Pastor Dave Dent is a pastor that offers solutions.  Dave is the Associate Pastor of Adult Ministries at Mid Atlantic Community Church in Davidsonville Maryland.   His ministry focus is to shepherd people through life's difficulties, to connect people into discipleship relationships.  Today, in this interview, Dave shares the ministry of Celebrate Recovery and how Jesus, through the Beatitudes, provides solutions. Dave has been married to Catherine Kellogg Dent since November of 1997.  He has three daughters and one son.  Dave has a heart for recovery, but he also loves the process of discipleship. Dave Touched On Primarily, Dave shared the ministry of Celebrate Recovery.  Celebrate Recovery was instrumental in Dave's personal recovery from addiction.  Since then God has used Dave in the Celebrate Recovery ministry. I came away with a much better understanding of Celebrate Recovery and what this ministry can provide to the local church. Another takeaway is how inclusive Celebrate Recovery can be.  It is not just an addiction ministry. Celebrate Recovery can address other problems and it ministers to children and teens as well.
