Loving the convert isn't just a nice idea. It's a double mitzvah straight from the Torah.Every Jew has a mitzvah to love their fellow Jew. But when it comes to the ger, the convert, the Torah doubles it. Twice. Two separate mitzvot to love this soul who chose to come home. And then Hashem says something that stops you in your tracks. The sages ask, who is greater, the one who loves the king, or the one whom the king loves? The tzaddikim love Hashem. But Hashem loves the convert. Directly. Explicitly. In the Torah itself. There's a deer that wanders away from the wilderness and joins the flock. The king says, take care of this one. Feed them. Give them water. Don't cause them pain. Because they didn't have to do this. They left everything behind and came on their own. That's the ger. They weren't at Sinai. They didn't grow up with this. And yet here they are. Choosing God. Choosing the Jewish people. Choosing to be part of something eternal. Is there anyone more beloved than this?#Judaism #Torah #JewishConvert #JewishConversion #Giur

Continuing the sermon series, "From Creation to Canaan," Pastor Steve covers the final book in the Pentateuch: Deuteronomy. In it, Moses gives his "farewell discourse" to the people, warning them to obey the Lord through several speeches and a repetition of key points of the Law. "Don't do this the hard way, like I did," Moses argues, "Obey the Lord." What is obedience, and why is it important? Pastor Steve unpacks the choice Moses gave to the Israelites, ending in the question, where is God calling you to obey today?
Recorded Sunday, 24 May 2026. Genuine faith is tested and refined by God, just as Jesus resisted temptation in the wilderness through the Word and the Spirit. He encourages the church to reject “Plan B” distractions and trust God through suffering, delay, temptation and refinement.
We close the It Is Well series by redefining God's presence as personal friendship that holds our joy steady even when life stays hard. We look at Abraham, Moses, and Jesus' words in John 15 to show how closeness with God reshapes prayer, suffering, calling, and everyday choices. • Defining God's presence as relational closeness, not a mystical idea • Naming the cost of distance with God, from empty worship to crisis-driven prayer and accusation • Tracing the Bible's throughline of God wanting to dwell with us • Learning trust, surrender, and radical obedience through Abraham's friendship with God • Seeing Moses refuse the promised land without God's presence • Moving from fearful obedience to sharing God's heart through intercession • Hearing Jesus call us friends, not servants, and reveal the Father's intentions • Finding help in Romans 8 when we do not know how to pray, the Spirit interceding in weakness • Connecting calling to places of pain where prayer partners with God's work • Choosing God as the reward, asking for His glory and receiving joy over heaviness

Bill and Roger talk with guest Pastor Jay Roberson about covenant living and why many believers don't know their covenant rights, emphasizing that the Bible is your contract with God and faith is believing God will do it for you. They connect financial struggle and debt to being tied to the world system, describing tithing as something sacred that confirms you're in covenant with God, using Abraham's choice in Genesis 14 between the king of Sodom's "gimme" and Melchizedek's blessing with bread and wine. Jay links Satan's fall in Ezekiel 28 to the love of money and accumulating "stuff," encouraging you to give and seed what you have. He shares a testimony of giving an entire $11,000 offering to Charles Capps, which later contributed to building a paid-for 42,000-square-foot facility and influenced the spread of cowboy churches through Glen Smith. The episode ends with an invitation for you to receive Jesus as Savior, healer, and provider, plus a call to partner with the ministry at billandroger.com. Pastor Terry reflects on Psalm 119:14, celebrating the joy of following God's testimonies and valuing His Word above all earthly riches. He emphasizes hiding Scripture in the heart, the transforming power of God's Word, and practical application from Matthew 5—loving enemies, blessing those who curse you, and seeking God's guidance in times of struggle.
Have faith. Let it begin. In this intimate episode, host Angel Santana wakes the morning with what happens when faith is tested not in spectacle but in the quiet choices we make each day? Through candid reflection, sports metaphors, and the story of Daniel’s unshaken prayer, Angel traces how faith often asks for courage in unseen moments — the missed practice, the decision that costs comfort, the single act that defines who we are. It’s a call to stand on belief when it’s inconvenient, to trust God more than circumstances. Short, tender and urgent, the episode invites you to take one step of trust today, offering a prayer for courage and a reminder that faith doesn’t make life easier — sometimes it makes you stronger. Have faith. Let it begin.
It's easy for a lot of people to put off a decision for change in their lives, but that indecision is a decision to forfeit the benefit of change. When it comes to salvation, that decision needs to be made immediately because eternal life is at stake.
Experiencing the hope of Easter doesn’t have to be limited to one Sunday a year. Psalm 112:4 reminds us that light breaks through darkness for those who walk with God—and that truth can shape how we begin every single day. Just as the sunrise brings warmth, clarity, and renewed energy, a Christ-centered morning can ground our hearts in peace and purpose. This devotional reframes the idea of a “sunrise service” as a daily rhythm rather than a yearly event. Even in busy, chaotic, or exhausting seasons of life, we are invited to intentionally create space for God each morning. When we choose to start our day focused on Him, we position our hearts to experience His presence, reflect His character, and carry His hope into everything we do. Highlights Easter hope isn’t seasonal—it’s available to anchor us every day Light and warmth from the sunrise reflect the spiritual renewal found in Christ Our mornings set the tone for our mindset, peace, and spiritual focus Even a few intentional minutes with God can shift the entire direction of your day Choosing God over chaos requires discipline but leads to greater stability and peace Creating structured morning rhythms can reduce stress and open space for spiritual growth Gratitude and reflection in the morning help cultivate a Christ-centered perspective Living in daily resurrection hope allows us to reflect God’s light to others This episode is sponsored by Trinity Debt Management. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous.” - Psalm 112:4 (NLT) My mood is greatly impacted by the weather, much to my chagrin. In Eastern Tennessee, with the Appalachians spanning my backyard, we see bouts of heavy rain in the winter. Of course, for all our farmers, this is quite the blessing, and it certainly benefits our neighbors’ cattle. But for me, it’s just week after week of mental gloominess (and feeling stuck inside with a toddler who would nap much better if he could run and play and soak up Vitamin D). Easter arrives when the weather is often playing tug-of-war between winter and spring, unsure which will take precedence for the holiday. Thus, it’s hard to know if your Easter dress should actually be a dress, or if a pair of pants will make life much warmer and more comfortable. Regardless of Easter’s final forecast, it’s only normal for us to crave the light and warmth of the sun. Nature makes this clear: the sun not only affects the neurotransmitters that regulate our mood but also our heart rate. Light and warmth stabilize us from the inside out, and is this not the perfect physiological representation of an Easter sunrise service? It’s mankind’s eager anticipation for the first rays of light that whisper, “You’ll see a bit clearer in just a moment. Better things are coming. Hope is here.” Easter, regardless of the day’s weather report, is our blessed hope, the spiritual truth that we can celebrate year-round to keep us tethered to our faith. It’s available for all the highs and lows, all the storms, and the uncontrollable chaos that undoubtedly rears an ugly head in this fallen world. And if we are intentional, spiritually desperate enough, we can experience this sunrise service filled with hope and joy each day of our lives. I’m certainly no expert in accessing this beautiful, glorious gift each morning, especially eight months pregnant with a toddler who doesn’t sleep through the night. I often wake up starving, grumbly, and in desperate need of a chiropractor. But even when the mornings start hectic or heavy, we have a choice: We can use our desperation for God’s goodness to force five minutes of quiet for Him to settle our hearts and homes, or we can surrender to the never-ending demands of a loud, noisy world that cares little about how stable our souls are once we’ve clocked out for the day and gone home. God gives good gifts to His children, most notably salvation through His Son’s death and resurrection, but the choice to access those gifts rests with us. If we want hope, no matter how gloomy, mundane, or hard life is, we must pursue it, choose it, share it with others, and praise God that His mercies are as faithful as the morning sunrise. Intersecting Faith & Life: Consider your morning routine. Is it consistently chaos as everyone grabs a breakfast bar to go and forgets a gym bag, homework, or a shoe or two? If your days always start in a state of stress, create a schedule specifically for your morning routine. Perhaps you need to wake up thirty minutes earlier, or the kids need to pack lunches and set out clothes the night before. Sit down with your entire family to discuss ways to make the mornings smoother so everyone can begin each day with a healthier head and heart space. Carve out space so your morning has dedicated time to practice gratitude to God for a new day of mercy and grace. As a believer and as an adult in your house, it is your spiritual responsibility to set a positive, hope-filled, Christ-focused tone for the family. As Scripture says, the hope and light we long for are byproducts of godliness, of our willingness to get uncomfortable and change our schedules, and even our perceptions, so we are in a position to practice generosity, compassion, and righteousness. (Let’s be honest, when we begin our days in chaos, without the peace and hope of Christ’s resurrection, our souls aren’t positioned to practice, let alone consider, these godly principles.) Consider this as more than a mandate. Let this be an honor as you overhaul your morning routine to have an Easter sunrise service in your home, for your family, each day. Finances are one of the biggest sources of stress for many people, but God offers a better way. In this message from the Choices series, Dr. Michael Knight teaches how biblical stewardship can replace financial stress with peace and purpose. This message is not just about money — it's about trust, priorities, and learning to handle what God has given us in a way that honors Him and brings freedom to our lives. When we choose God's way, we discover that stewardship leads to peace, not pressure.
It is so good to be with you today. Today we'll be seeing, we'll be looking at the reason why the psalmist was so blessed in Psalm 119 verse 2. We read, Blessed are they that keep his testimonies and that seek him with a whole heart. We notice in verse number 2, in order for him to keep his testimony, it constituted a decision of his will. Our will must be brought into the captivity. We need to be brought into the captivity of the Word of God. We need to ask ourselves, what is navigating our lives? Are we still in control, or are we letting the word of God direct our lives? I'm reminded of the lyrics from a song written by a couple friends of mine, Tommy Coons and Chuck Gerard of the band Love Song, that might be a good way to describe the battle of our wills. The song, the lyrics read, I was running for my master. I trot out every new thing that I could find. My life turned into one disaster. Without the Lord, I almost blew my mind. I was sitting in the front seat, trying really hard to be the driver, thinking I was making real good time, but always winding up the late arrival. But now I've been trying out the back seat, and I find it's a very great relief. Now I'm riding in the back seat. I'm leaving the driving to the chief. To keep God's testimony simply means that to guard and to watch over. Are you treasuring God's word in your heart? If not, you should be. Remember, it's a decision of your will. It's this decision to choose to follow what God's word has to say. To keep God's testimony simply means to guard and to watch over. Secondly, we see in verse number two that the psalmist is seeking God with all of his heart. This is key for us. What are you seeking for in your life? What are you putting your time and energy into? Jesus tells us plainly what you should be putting first in your life when he says in Matthew 6, verse 33, he says, But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. The writers of Hebrew tells us that you are rewarded diligently for seeking after God. As we read in Hebrews 11, verse 6, for without faith it's impossible to please him. He that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he's a rewarder of them that diligently, notice, diligently seek him. Abraham found out the Lord's presence in his life was a great reward that he was looking for. In Genesis 15, verse 1, we read, And these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I am thy shield, and thy great and exceeding great reward. You know, there isn't anything more rewarding than walking in fellowship with the Lord. And God wants to be that for us. But we need to seek him. How are we to seek God? And we find in verse number two, the psalmist sought God with his whole heart. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soul, and with all thine might. And that's found in Matthew 22, verse 37. If you want to grow in your walk with God, you need to be dedicated to it. You need to give your all to the Lord. Paul summed it up best for us as believers when he wrote, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies as living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And then he goes on, he says, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is good and what is acceptable. Perfect will of God. God wants us to know the things that we should be doing, the things that we are doing are acceptable to him. And how do we do that? It's by seeking him each and every day, by presenting our bodies as delivered sacrifices. And I love the way it tells us there in Romans chapter 12. He says, which is our reasonable service. Otherwise, when you take time to consider what Jesus did for our lives, doesn't it make sense that we at least give our all to him, that we seek him with all of our heart? In Romans 12, verse 1, it tells us that we need to seek to know what the perfect, acceptable will of God is for our lives. It was once said, whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well, I believe that, certainly when it should ring true to us in our commitment to the Lord. Since God gave everything to us by giving his son and setting for us an example that we should follow, should he expect any less from us? What is the result of choosing and seeking God and to walk in his way? Well, as we see here in this psalm, that we will live a blessed life. As we continue in Psalm 119, we will see how to be freed from the entanglement of sin and the pain that it brings. What should you do if you find yourself out of fellowship with God? As we finish up here today, I believe the key step in following what John tells us in 1 John 1, verse 9, We read, if we confess our sins, notice the plural, if we confess our sins, he is faithful, and that's speaking of Jesus. He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Notice all unrighteousness. He doesn't spell it out what it might be, but he wanted you to notice that the love of God and what Jesus accomplished on the cross. The shed blood is able to cover a multitude of sins. And if we just are willing to seek him, if we're willing to confess our sins unto him, then he will forgive us. I could tell you with certainty, if you turn to God now, he will forgive you and you can start to enjoy walking in fellowship with God. It is my prayer that you will turn to God. And so until next time, this is Pastor Terry. May God richly bless you. Thank you for taking part in today's program. We would love to hear from you. Yielding | Choosing God's Will Over Our Own In this Sunday morning message, we are reminded that the Christian life is a continual choice between our will and God's will — and true victory is found in learning to yield fully to Him. The sermon opens with the theme God has placed on the church for this season: yielding. From the moment we are born again, we begin a lifelong process of surrendering our desires, plans, and pride in exchange for God's perfect will. Just as Jesus won the greatest spiritual battle in the Garden of Gethsemane when He prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done,” believers today experience victory when they make that same choice daily. The message explains why yielding is often difficult. Our fallen nature, pride, presumption, lack of prayer, and unrenewed minds all work against surrender. When believers allow worldly influences to dominate their thoughts instead of God's Word, compromise slowly replaces obedience. Scripture makes it clear that loving the world — its desires, distractions, and self-centered pursuits — weakens our love for God. Drawing from Romans 12 and Romans 6, the sermon emphasizes personal responsibility in the walk of faith. While salvation is God's finished work, believers must present themselves to Him — intentionally placing themselves in His presence where transformation happens. Yielding begins with showing up, even when it is difficult, inconvenient, or uncomfortable. God does the changing, but we must make ourselves available. Holiness is explained not as perfection, but as devotion — a life set apart for God's use. Sanctification is an ongoing process through the renewing of the mind by God's Word. The more believers remain in Scripture, the stronger they become to overcome temptation, fear, and spiritual compromise. The sermon also highlights the importance of consistency. Yielding is not occasional obedience but faithful endurance — choosing God when it feels easy and when it feels hard. Just as spiritual strength grows through discipline, believers mature by continually surrendering to God's will rather than their own comfort. The message concludes with a powerful reminder: everything we have comes from God's hand, and yielding to Him is our reasonable response. When God's people live surrendered lives, He is able to work through them in extraordinary ways. Key Takeaway Victory in the Christian life is not found in strength or perfection, but in daily surrender. When we consistently yield our will to God's will, He transforms us, strengthens us, and leads us into His perfect plan.
Following God often means crossing lines we've never crossed and facing challenges we've never faced. In the book of Joshua, God leads his people from promise into possession, calling them to trust him completely and obey him faithfully. This story walks through moments of bold faith, costly obedience, unexpected setbacks, and decisive victories, revealing what it truly means to be strong and courageous. As we study Joshua together, we'll discover that courage isn't found in our own strength, but in the unchanging faithfulness of God — the God who keeps his promises, goes before his people, and invites us to follow wherever he leads.

Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” - Deuteronomy 30:19 Why are so many people choosing death over life these days? If asked, many individuals might disagree, not realizing what they are doing. Still, when we consider our culture’s views on the sacredness of life, we see the reality that individuals are choosing abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, suicide, and more. Because death is a popular choice for so many people, it’s more important than ever for us to speak out and help lead others to choose life over death. As Christians, we recognize that those who reject Jesus are choosing death, rather than receiving the life God gives us. A Day Set to Choose Life Every January since January 22, 1984, many Christians observe Sanctity of Life Day, a day set aside to commemorate God’s priceless and sacred gift of life. The United States' 40th President, Ronald Reagan, first issued the national proclamation setting aside a day to honor life and remember the millions of lives ended through abortion. It’s a day to remember those who can’t speak for themselves, committing to pray for and protect their life at every age and stage. Proverbs 31:8 urges us to “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” Like Deuteronomy 30:19 urges, we, who are believers in Jesus Christ, are daily called to choose life over death, to believe that life is sacred. So, how do we put this into action daily? By choosing life through the words we speak, write, and communicate about it to ourselves, friends, family, community, and the world at large. Speaking Influential Words As Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Whether we realize it or not, the words we choose to speak and write influence those who hear and read our words. Because they do, it’s vitally important, a matter of life and death, that we celebrate and support life for those around us. Choosing God’s Truth God describes the very beginning of humankind, of their sacredness of being made in His image, as Genesis 1:27 describes, “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” Christians who replace biblical truth with other ideologies are choosing creator-less options, calling God a liar, along with removing the need for a Savior and devaluing life. But as believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to embrace and cherish the sacredness of life, of the truth of being formed in the image of our amazing Creator, who breathed His breath of life into us. There should be no doubt in our hearts and minds about who created us, the One who formed us with His own hands and has called us priceless in His sight. As Genesis 2:7 explains, God is very clear about where humans began and by whose hand. “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Sanctity of Life Remains Nothing changes God’s truth about life and the sacredness of it, despite the world’s efforts to promote abortion, assisted suicide, and selecting and euthanizing those who have physical and mental issues and disabilities, various illnesses, and the elderly. God’s plan for each individual is life, as Psalm 139:16 describes: “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.” Men and women, from the womb to the grave, are God’s glorious, sacred creations. As Psalm 8:4-6 describes, “What is mankind that You are mindful of them, human beings that You care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of Your hands; You put everything under their feet.” Intersecting Faith & Life: How are we speaking about life? Are we sharing with others the sacredness of it? Many people in this world are indecisive and full of doubt, and the mess that their lives are in is a result of that. God wants us to choose to follow Him, giving up all fear and doubts, trusting and believing in all of His promises, and He will take care of us.
What will it cost you to keep your commitment to God? In this episode of The Commitment of Faith, Pastor Roderick Webster (Words From The Word daily devotion) walks through one of the most sobering moments in Judges 11:30–35 (KJV)—the vow Jephthah made before going to battle.Jephthah makes a conditional vow to the Lord: if God grants victory, whatever comes out to meet him first when he returns home will belong to the Lord. God gives the victory—fully. But when Jephthah comes home, the first to meet him is the one person he loves most: his only daughter. This devotion presses a personal question on every believer: What commitments have you made to God—and what has kept you from fully following through?Maybe you've said, “Lord, use my life,” “I'll serve,” “I'll teach,” “I'll go,” “I'll obey”… and then something stood in the way. A relationship. Friends. A job. Pleasure. Comfort.Pastor Webster calls us to examine the cost of commitment and to ask God for strength to choose Him when our faith is tested.

New beginnings in Christ aren’t just inspirational ideas—they’re biblical promises rooted in spiritual renewal, freedom from sin, and transformation through Jesus. Drawing from Ephesians 4:20–24, this devotional explores what God says about new beginnings, reminding believers that faith in Christ creates a new identity, a renewed mind, and a real opportunity to leave the old life behind. Highlights Scripture teaches that salvation in Christ creates a new self, not a slightly improved version of the old one. God offers new mercies every morning, providing forgiveness, restoration, and fresh opportunity. Sin, trauma, and unhealthy patterns do not have the final word—renewal through Christ is possible. Change may feel difficult or impossible, but God supplies the strength to walk in newness of life. New beginnings require belief, trust, and intentional steps rooted in God’s truth. Choosing God’s promises over fear allows spiritual growth and lasting transformation. Do you want to listen ad-free? Full Transcript Below: What God Says about New Beginnings By Aaron D’Anthony Brown Bible Reading:“But that is not how you came to know Christ, assuming you heard about him and were taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus, to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.” (Ephesians 4:20-24, CSB) There’s plenty to appreciate about new things, like the smell of a new car or the feel of new clothes. This is all the more true of a new marriage or a newborn baby. Newness in life can be and often is good and exciting. Yet, while we can usually appreciate new material things or relationships, we don’t always show the same gratitude toward the newness found in God. The newness that is God. Perhaps that is because we don’t fully fathom what He says about new beginnings. Scripture tells us how the Lord creates within us a “new self,” and how He offers “new mercies” every morning. He takes off the shackles of sin that once defined us and helps us become better image-bearers of His Son. The old self was corrupted, but the new self was created in His righteousness. If our faith in Jesus Christ makes us new, then we don’t have to be like our old selves. Whatever sinful habits or unhealthy relationships or trauma that once seemed permanent can be undone. A new beginning is possible. Chances are, on an intellectual level, we believe in the new beginning because we know that change is possible. Yet, another part of us says that change is hard. And oftentimes not just hard, but seemingly impossible. That’s when we have to remember, “I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). If God makes us new and grants us the power to walk in that newness, then we should ask ourselves, “Why aren’t we?” Fear? Laziness? Ignorance? If we are new, then we are not stuck in the old. We can grow. We can embrace a new beginning. After reading Scripture and understanding that God makes us new, the next step is figuring out how to apply this knowledge to our lives. Intersecting Faith & Life: Here are a few ways you can apply God’s new beginnings to your life starting today: Thank God for new mercies. Today doesn’t have to be like yesterday, and tomorrow doesn’t have to be like today. If God grants us new mercies, we would be foolish not to accept them. That means mercy in the form of forgiveness, mercy in the form of a chance to right our wrongs, mercy in the form of seeing another day. The average life expectancy for Americans may be around 80, but no day is guaranteed. That should caution us to make the most of each day we are given. Not using it as an opportunity to serve the flesh or our old way of being, but striving to be something better, someone new. Thank God that His mercies are new every morning and make wise use of them. Thank God for new opportunities. With every new day comes an opportunity to do something different. Maybe yesterday brought a contentious argument with a spouse or a relapse in addiction, but today doesn’t have to follow the same pattern. Today can be different, because the past does not predict the future. We often see new beginnings as impossible until we’re in them, but paradoxically, not believing in the new beginning prevents us from reaching it in the first place. Recall and thank God for the new opportunities He has given you in the past, whether in relationships, jobs, or financial security. Remember those past blessings and use them to encourage yourself today. If a new beginning was possible before, indeed it can happen again. Be encouraged that you are new. Understanding that you have been and are being made new every day will feel hard to believe some days, but we have to press forward. Newness means something to God, and He delights in His children growing in the likeness of His Son. The sinful part of you may say that isn’t true, but if you have to ask yourself, “Do I want to believe sin, or do I want to believe God?” Which would you pick? If you pick God, then choose to embrace your new beginning today.
