Book of Acts Bible Study, Pt. 7 // Acts 3:12-26
Sermon from Pastor Jim Stultz on February 22, 2026
By revisiting the story of the early Church, we're rediscovering the mission that started it all. As we look back at the birth of the Church, we'll see how the Spirit sent ordinary believers to change the world—and how that same call still shapes us today.
For thousands of years Christians have gathered around the world once a week to remember and celebrate Jesus together. However, is what we call “church” what it was intended to be? This movement that we have been swept up in began with a handful of people who were not terribly sure of what they were doing. In fact, they were mostly unsure and confused in their nature. But by the grace of God, the Holy Spirit empowered them to establish and lead a revolutionary vision creating witnesses of the love and grace of Jesus that has continued even to this day. We are here today because of the ACTS OF THE APOSTLES through the Holy Spirit just weeks after Jesus was crucified and resurrected. This study of the book of Acts should bring us back to purpose of the church and the power of the Holy Spirit. --- After the healing of the lame man outside of the Temple in Jerusalem, Peter and John face a familiar foe - the Sadducees. The battle is waged in a sacred place to the elitist Sadducees and their power comes face to face with the power of the name of Jesus Christ. Peter & John stand in bold opposition to the ruling council and hold their ground as they speak and work in the name of the only One who can save.

Sermon Series on Why Follow Jesus? by Pastor Chris Bossio
Luke reported in his gospel that the disciples were commissioned by Jesus to preach the coming kingdom, cast out demons, and heal diseases while Jesus was still alive, but today's reading contains the first detailed eye-witness account of the apostles doing so and the first instance reported after Christ's ascension. Their fellow Israelites are amazed, and Peter uses the opportunity to preach the gospel, calling them to repent and trust in Christ. By the time they're finished, they earn the ire of the priests, temple police, and Sadducees, who don't want the name of Jesus to be proclaimed. The number of those converted included 5,000 men, which may represent only half of those converted. :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

The same is true for every human. Our greatest need is not a mercy gift to make this life palatable - it is the presence of God in Jesus to save our souls.

Pastor Seth Troutt continues our series “The Glory of Salvation” by teaching on the doctrine of conversion—what it really means to be “saved” and to respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.Drawing from Acts 3 and other key scriptures, Pastor Seth explains:- What biblical faith is: trusting Jesus as reliable, sufficient, and true - What genuine repentance is: turning from sin and reorienting your life toward Christ - Why conversion must be personal, private (from the heart), and public (confessed openly) - The difference between simply saying you believe in God and truly entrusting yourself to JesusThis message also includes a clear invitation to respond to the gospel and begin following Jesus.00:00 - Introduction05:55 - What is Faith?13:49 - What is Repentance?24:04 - Personal25:48 - Private26:34 - Public**HOW TO FIND US*** SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YouTube CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/@IronwoodChurchAZFACEBOOK https://www.facebook.com/ironwoodchurchaz/ INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/ironwood.church/WEBSITE https://www.ironwoodchurch.org/
Journey with us as we review Acts 3 where Peter heals the beggar at the Temple. We'll also spend time reviewing this month's memory verse (2 Corinthians 5:21), and playing a round of Guess the Imposter.
Today we wrestle honestly with healing...our hope, our doubts, and our pain. Scripture shows us that God is a healer by nature, that Jesus healed all who came to Him, and that His compassion hasn't ended with the resurrection. While healing remains a mystery and doesn't always happen when or how we want, we are still called to pray in faith and not give up. We don't place our hope in formulas or mindsets, but in the faithful heart of God. Whether healing comes now, later, or ultimately in resurrection, we trust Jesus, obey His call to pray, and continue to seek His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.FOR GROUP DISCUSSION & REFLECTION:What does this passage reveal about Jesus' heart toward suffering people?Have you ever witnessed a supernatural physical healing? Where do you personally drift more—toward quitting on healing (mindset) or trying to control it through your efforts (methods)? How do you believe we should respond when healing doesn't happen immediately? What would it look like for you to pray for people more often? What might stop you (fear, disappointment, or doubt)?+ + + + +Hey, while you're here, please help Generation by clicking the 'Subscribe' button, then click on the BELL

Friday, February 6th: Acts 3:1-10 (The Gospel is Displayed When We Answer Christ's Call to Join Him in His Healing Work)One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. 6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In today's episode, we continue our journey through the Scriptures on this 27th day of January, focusing not just on reading the Bible, but on experiencing the transforming life and love of Jesus. Hunter guides us through pivotal passages in Exodus and the book of Acts, revisiting powerful stories such as Moses striking the rock at Massah, the Israelites' encounter at Mount Sinai, the giving of the Ten Commandments, and the miraculous healing at the temple gate in Acts 3. As Hunter reflects on these stories, we're reminded that faith isn't just about history or transaction—it's about a deep, personal relationship with God, one that lifts us up and invites us to stand upright in His love. Along the way, Hunter invites us to pause for moments of prayer, gratitude, and reflection, encouraging us to keep taking steps toward Jesus and to allow God's love to flow through our lives and into the world around us. Whether you're joining in for the first time or you've been with us from the beginning, this episode is a call to embrace your place in God's story—a story where you are loved, you are seen, and you are never alone. Let's dive in together! TODAY'S DEVOTION: He sees you and calls you to walk upright. As Peter and John made their way to the temple, they encountered a man who had never walked. He was sitting at the Beautiful Gate, hoping for a little help—maybe a few coins from a kind passerby. What he was really searching for was someone who would stop, see him, and take notice in the midst of the crowds. Peter and John did just that. They looked at him intently—not with eyes of pity or indifference, but with the same eyes Jesus had for those who were hurting and in need. They saw him, really saw him. In that moment, Peter didn't offer silver or gold. Instead, he offered something far greater: the life and power of Jesus. "In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk." This was no transaction. This was not about what the man could earn, believe, or accomplish on his own. It was a declaration—a gift rooted entirely in Christ: who he is and what he has done. So often, we can see ourselves in that beggar at the gate—waiting and hoping, feeling unseen and unworthy, longing for scraps when Jesus is offering wholeness. The good news is, the Gospel is not a sales pitch or an exchange. It doesn't depend on what we put forth, but on what Christ has done. He reaches down, takes us by the hand, and invites us to stand—fully loved, fully included in God's covenant promises. You are not a beggar at God's table. You are his beloved child, meant to walk upright, embraced by the love of the Father. Let Jesus look into your heart today. Let him lift you up. Walk confidently in the reality of who you are in Christ. This is not just for a select few—it is for you, for your family, for all who would receive him. The life that is being given to you, in Jesus, is not about merit but about his finished work and his love that calls you by name. That is my prayer for my own soul. That is my prayer for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that is my prayer for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.
