Satan fills the hearts of Ananias and Sapphira instead of the Holy Spirit. God reminds the church of His holiness and His continued zeal for it.
Peter and John were about their normal day, just headed to the temple to pray. That is when they were interrupted from their regularly scheduled programing. In this Bible study on Acts 3, we will see what their response can teach us about how to react to surprises God may bring our way.Acts 3:1-10 Bible study guide with companion discussion questions on our website - https://studyandobey.com/inductive-bible-study/acts/acts-2-37-47/Study and Obey's Bible study guides on Amazon -https://amzn.to/48SgPEN(As an Amazon associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.)Study and Obey Free Weekly Podcast on Apple - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/study-and-obey/id1571266150Our website of 800+ practical and free Bible studies - https://studyandobey.comSupport this ministry -https://studyandobey.com/support/25+ Bible study guides for individual or group study on many different books of the Bible - https://studyandobey.com/shop/Support the show

This week was Preach for the Stars, where we invite people from our church family to give short talks. At this 10.30 gathering, Ian preached on Acts 3 and the faith of Peter and John as they performed their first miracle, and Beth preached on Acts 4 and the disciples' prayer for more of the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Ken continues through the book of Acts
As Peter healed the beggar, the people of Israel gazed in awe, marveling at the scene and believing he might be a prophet. Every now and then, we get a little bold and believe we can tackle anything that comes our way. Sometimes we overlook the fact that it's God who's actively working in and through us. In today's message, Pastor Mark invites you to open your heart and surrender it to Jesus. He's eager to get into your experiences and connect with others along the way. To make that a reality, you have to let go of your own desires and invite God to take the reins of your life. That's the way to shine the spotlight on God!
Have you ever noticed how in the Bible, Jesus always waits for the sick to ask Him for healing before He steps in? This indicates that Jesus wanted a heart that was ready to be healed. In the same way, you might find yourself going to church regularly, yet you feel like God isn't really making a difference in your life. So, have you taken a moment to open your heart to Jesus and welcome Him into your life? Today, Pastor Mark paints a vivid picture of the kind of heart a believer should embrace. Jesus is eager to be a part of your journey. He wants you to invite Him into your life, but it's all about your choice to ask Him in!

Listen along as Mike Gaston continues our series through the book of Acts. Notes//Quotes: Slide 1 Title of the Message: Repentance, Removal, Refreshment, and Restoration Slide 2 Big idea As we wait for Jesus to restore all things, refreshment is now available in His presence. Slide 3 “The healing story itself is similar to those related in the gospels, but it is related with a fair amount of detail. Peter is able to do the kind of things that Jesus did by acting in the name of Jesus: thus, the continuity between the ministry of Jesus and the witness of the church is expressed…the main point of the story is the continuing power of the name of Jesus to perform the same gracious and healing acts which were signs in the gospels of the coming of the kingdom or rule of God.” I.Howard Marshall Slide 4 “The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.” Acts 3:13-15 Slide 5 “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.” Acts 3:19-21 Slide 6 True Christian repentance involves a heartfelt conviction of sin, a contrition over the offense to God, a turning away from the sinful way of life, and a turning towards a God-honoring way of life. Sam Storms Slide 7 “The word wipe away is a really precious and beautiful word in the New Testament. It's used, for example, in Revelation 21:4, where it says, “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” God is in the business of wiping away sin to prepare people for the wiping away of tears in the age to come. John Piper Slide 8 – Selah logo (sending by email) Slide 9 – Verse on wall (sending by email) Slide 10 “Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” 2 Peter 3:11-13 Slide 11 Big idea As we wait for Jesus to restore all things, refreshment is now available in His presence.
The healing of the lame man at the temple points to the coming of salvation for all men in Jesus Christ and for the new Temple, the church.
Big Idea: The name of Jesus brings healing, truth, and salvation. 1. The name of Jesus brings healing for the broken (v.1-10) 2. The name of Jesus brings truth for the ignorant (v.11-18) 3. The name of Jesus brings salvation and refreshment (v.19-26) Discussion Questions: 1. What does it mean to act or pray “in the name of Jesus”? 2. How does the healing of the lame man demonstrate the gospel message—not just physically but spiritually? 3. Peter confronts the people's ignorance and calls them to repentance (vv. 17–19). Why is willful ignorance so dangerous? 4. What kind of “refreshing” does repentance bring (v. 20)?

They see a lame man and Peter heals him. The man expects a monetary blessing but receives the much greater gift of healing. He rejoices and clings to Peter and John. A crowd gathers, affording Peter the opportunity to preach about Jesus. He begins by noting that this power to heal has come from God. Peter explains that God the Father has glorified His Son and that the Jews have made a terrible mistake by crucifying Jesus. It is in the name of Jesus, the resurrected Prince of Life, that this lame man has been healed. Jesus is God's raised and ruling Servant, and all who repent of sin and turn to Him will be spiritually refreshed. The healing of the lame man affords Peter a chance to preach Jesus to the people. Peter uses beautiful terms to describe our Lord in this sermon: “God's Servant,” “the Holy and Righteous One,” “the Prince of life,” God's “Christ,” as well as “the Christ appointed for you.” He finally explains that Jesus is the “Prophet” raised up by God, just as Moses predicted. These terms should invoke awe and respect in us. Jesus is God's plan for our salvation, and not even death can stop Him from becoming our Savior. The hope was for the people to hear these things and repent. We also should continually turn from our wicked ways when we consider the authority and glory of Jesus. Holy God, thank You for sending Your Servant Jesus as the Christ who would give His life to free us from our sins. We are refreshed in His grace, and we praise You for the wonderful gifts afforded to us in our Lord. While we have many good things in this life, the healing of our souls is greater than any amount of silver and gold. We treasure Him above all else. Father, so many need to repent and turn to Jesus. Please give us the boldness to tell others about the victory and worthiness of the “Prince of Life.” Thought Questions: - A man's life was changed forever after experiencing the authority of Jesus. How has the name of the Lord changed your life? - People saw God's power, and Peter used the occasion to teach. What opportunities is God creating for you to speak openly about Jesus? - In his sermon, Peter uses several titles for Jesus. Mark those. How do they shape how you see Jesus and express His glory to others?
The early church faces its first opposition from the religious leaders. When they face trouble, they stand in boldness and pray for God to empower them. We too can walk with courage and confidence as Christ works through us. thebridgebluffton.com

At our final Oasis of the year, Brennen preaches from Acts 3—where Peter doesn't just heal a lame man, he opens the door for worship. This is the church in motion: bold, powerful, and people-focused. It's not about buildings or organizations—it's about removing barriers and meeting real needs so others can encounter Jesus. Acts 3 shows us that the Church is the people of God, empowered by the Spirit, to remove barriers and invites others into relationship with Jesus. Message Delivered: 5/4/25
