Gabe & Rick have a conversation with Dr. Stephen Boyd, Mike Conley, and Tim Maloney on how we overcome our Fossil Fuel addiction. Gabe Ignetti and Eric Schmitz interview Jonathon Symons on his new book, “Ecomodernism: Technology, Politics and The Climate Crisis”. Jonathan Symons offers a qualified defense of the Ecomodernist vision. Ecomodernism, he explains, is neither as radical or reactionary as its critics claim. Symons argues that states should defend against climate threats through transformative investments in technological innovation. A good Anthropocene is still possible – but only if we double down on science and humanism to push beyond the limits to growth.

Gabe & Rick interview Dr. Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University on his latest book “A Farewell to Ice”.  Dr. Wadhams is the UK’s most experienced sea ice scientists. He was Director of the Scott Polar Institute in Carnbridge 1987–92 and Professor of Ocean Physics at Cambridge University 1992–2015 and currently at the Polytechnic University of the Marche, Ancona, Italy.He has made more than 50 expeditions to both polar regions.

Gabe and Rick speak with Dr. Will Steffens, lead scientist for a report in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, “Trajectories of the Earth System in the Anthropocene” which examines to the possibilities that  our planet could slip into a Hothouse Earth and how we are to avoid this outcome which could be monumentally catastrophic. 

Our guest is Dr. James Conca who is discussing the proposed Green New Deal and why it falls far short of a real solution and what an ideal Green New Deal would look like. Gabe is joined by cohost Tom Blees.  James Conca is a PhD scientist in the field of the earth and environmental sciences for 31 years, and a regular columnist for Forbes Magazine.  Tom Blees is the President of The Science Council for Global Initiatives.

Gabe and Eric interview author, Richard Rhodes, on his latest book, Energy, A Human History. Richard Rhodes is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and National Book Critics Circle Award, and has  received research and writing fellowships from the Ford Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation Program in International Peace and Security, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. He has been a visiting scholar at Harvard and MIT, and a host and correspondent for documentaries on public television's Frontline and American Experience series.
