With Sabrina Smai On weekdays, I’m a computer programmer that solves business problems using artificial intelligence. On weekends, I spend my weekends competing in hackathons aka hacking marathons (not the criminal type of hacking, this one is ethical). The aim is to find the best technological solutions to difficult world problems in the fastest, smartest, and the most innovative way. With winning many competitions, I’ve confidently honed a winning strategy for problem-solving in hackathons and daily life. Today, I’ll share my EPIC strategy so you and your loved ones can solve big challenges faster and better than ever before. I want to democratize this approach (traditionally heavily applied in tech) so everyone can adopt this way of thinking. I hope to help change the lives of millions through this approach. What are the effects of stigmatizing people with mental illness? Could destigmatizing mental illness help those who suffer? In this interview, we discuss these issues with John Nieuwenburg, who after attempting suicide now courageously shares his story about how he has battled back from depression. What’s inspiring about John’s story? Suicide and Mental Illness are stigmatized and painful for everyone who is affected. Depression is a silent killer. Partly because of the stigma attached to it. Our society will help people with any number of physical ailments. Yet the same people view mental illness with skepticism or suspicion or, uncertainty and distrust. Mental illness should not be a secret. Let’s change how we treat and view people with a mental illness. My hope is that suicide and mental illness are destigmatized and the misery they cause diminished. For John’s Inspirational Quotes and Notes Visit http://getinspiredtalks.org
