What an absolutely beautiful day it was yesterday! Cooling off the rest of the week with some rain and possible snow on Thursday. Last week, we had a kangaroo on the loose in Wisconsin…while a zoo in New Mexico had to delay it's opening after an elephant got loose! Speaking of Wisconsin, a priest who was arrested last year for child enticement & attempted sexual assault is now facing new charges…and a "teen takeover" at the Bayshore mall turns ugly. Elsewhere in the news, the Army is investigating the recent helicopter stunt at Kid Rock's house, and the US Military is building an underground complex beneath the new White House ballroom. In sports, the Brewers lost to the Rays last night, the Bucks play tonight against the Mavs, the results of last night's final two games of the NCAA women's Elite 8, the Chicago Bulls waive Jaden Ivey, and Tiger Woods doesn't want a driver. We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and we also talked about what's new on New Release Tuesday. In other sports news, the 49ers conclude that the power substation by their practice field has nothing to do with all their injuries, and the WNBA's Connecticut Sun is selling & moving. Grant Bilse of the Wisco Sports Show joined us just after 8am to talk about the Brewers hot start. Today is National Tater Day, so make sure you've got some tots or mashed potatoes on the menu tonight. Cool story about a woman who runs a teddy bear hospital, and a World War II Veteran is the oldest organ donor in US history! Hidden Valley Ranch is looking for Ranch-Bassadors to travel the world & preach the gospel of HVR, and we also had a new "Karen of the Day" Plus, a list of some survival "tips" that aren't true and won't help you survive in real-world situations. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a woman who slept with identical twins and got pregnant by one of them, a woman who was busted driving while on a Zoom hearing with a judge, and a woman in Michigan who escaped from the back of a cop car.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message.Have you ever wondered what happens when a dedicated professional risks it all to expose wrongdoing in the workplace? In this gripping episode of Employee Survival Guide®, Mark Carey takes you through the riveting legal battle of Dr. Misty Blanchett Porter against Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC). This true story reveals the harsh realities of institutional discrimination, dysfunction, whistleblowing, and the often perilous consequences of standing up for what's right. Dr. Porter, a highly skilled physician with over two decades of experience, transitioned from a celebrated surgeon to a whistleblower after raising serious concerns about her colleagues' medical practices. Her courageous actions led to a chaotic internal environment that culminated in the closure of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility division, a department she had been instrumental in developing. Despite her invaluable contributions, Dr. Porter faced discrimination, retaliation and was ultimately terminated under the guise of a business decision. This episode dives into the complexities of employment law, focusing on the precarious balance between institutional reputation and employee rights. Join us as we analyze key legal elements, including the pivotal Second Circuit Court decision that overturned an initial summary judgment and the implications of the jury's split verdict in 2025. This verdict highlighted the varying standards of causation in discrimination cases, underscoring the importance of understanding employee rights in the face of discrimination, retaliation, and hostile work environments. We delve into the nuances of disability discrimination and the essential protections that whistleblowers like Dr. Porter need to navigate a system fraught with challenges. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in employment law, workplace culture, and the fight for justice in the face of discrimination. Whether you're navigating work disputes, negotiating severance packages, or simply seeking career development tips, the insights shared in this episode will empower you to advocate for yourself and your colleagues. Explore the intricacies of severance negotiations, the rights of employees, and the legal frameworks that protect whistleblowers in the workplace. Don't miss this chance to gain insider tips on surviving the complexities of employment law and to understand the critical importance of employee advocacy. Tune in to Employee Survival Guide® for a powerful discussion that not only highlights the struggles of one brave physician but also serves as a guide for all employees facing similar workplace challenges. To watch the video of this episode, please go to:    Do you feel held hostage by the rollercoaster of a loved one's addiction? What is the crucial difference between helping someone and enabling their destructive behavior?   Is it possible to stop the chaos and help the entire family heal, even if the addict isn't ready to change?   Join Dr. Adriana Popescu in another empowering episode of Kaleidoscope of Possibilities: Alternative Perspectives on Mental Health, where she explores the complex dynamics of addiction within the family system. In this episode, Dr. Adriana sits down with Candace Plattor, an addiction therapist and author who specializes in helping families stop enabling their loved ones. They discuss the often-overlooked reality that addiction is a family disease, exploring how "loved ones" can inadvertently keep the addict sick through enabling behaviors. Candace shares her personal journey of recovery and offers a transformative roadmap for families to establish boundaries, prioritize their own self-care, and ultimately "raise the bottom" for the addict in their lives.   In this episode: A Journey of Recovery: Candace shares her personal story of overcoming 15 years of opioid addiction and celebrating over 36 years of sobriety. Addiction Defined: Understanding addiction not just as a substance issue, but as a displacement of anxiety and a symptom of underlying trauma. Helping vs. Enabling: A clear, game-changing definition of the difference between truly helping a loved one and enabling their addiction. The Family System: Why treating the addict in isolation rarely works and the importance of healing the entire family unit. Raising the Bottom: Debunking the myth that you have to wait for an addict to hit "rock bottom" and learning how to raise that bottom sooner. Love with Boundaries: Practical steps for loved ones to regain their sanity, stop being held hostage, and love without losing themselves. Holistic Healing: The role of hypnotherapy and addressing the root cause of the "hole in the soul.”   Resources mentioned in this episode: Candace's Website: LoveWithBoundaries.com Book: Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Top 10 Survival Tips for Loving Someone with an Addiction by Candace Plattor: https://lovewithboundaries.com/loving-an-addict-loving-yourself-3/ Free 3-Minute Quiz: Available on Candace's website to see if you are an enabler. Within a year of being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 1973, she found herself in the throes of prescription drug addiction. Her Crohn's Disease diagnosis came at a time when the medical community had a very limited understanding of the disease and how to treat it. As a result, the treatment included some very addictive medications such as Valium, Demerol, Codeine and Oxycontin, which she took faithfully for a number of years. Additionally, she discovered that marijuana took away a lot of her physical pain and helped her escape from feelings of powerlessness, hopelessness, and isolation. In no time at all, she became a daily pot smoker and had one more addiction to deal with. And when she ran out of pot, she abused alcohol. After more than 15 years of abusing substances, she "reached bottom" in 1987. Thus began her journey of recovery and self-discovery. In her books, Candace draws from her experience as an addict, as well as from the stories of those she continues to help in her practice, to uncover the reality of loving someone with an addiction. All too often, people with an addicted loved one in their lives will neglect themselves in an attempt to "help." But, as she points out in her books, this is a lose-lose situation that doesn't help the addict at all. Instead, loved ones must make their own needs a priority and learn to focus on their own self-care.   “Helping is doing something for someone that they are not capable of doing for themselves. Enabling is doing for someone things that they could and should be doing for themselves.” – Candace   Would you like to continue this conversation and connect with other people who are interested in exploring these topics? Drawing from her expertise, Trish emphasizes that your baby isn't broken - they're just adjusting to life outside the womb while helping establish your milk supply.Key TakeawaysWhat is Second Night Syndrome? Around 24-48 hours post-birth, babies become fussy, cry incessantly, root constantly, and refuse to be put down. This is a normal adjustment from the womb's constant comfort to the bright, cold world. It's not hunger or failure - it's biological programming to trigger your milk production.Survival Tips for Night Two:Skin-to-Skin: Strip baby to diaper and yourself to bare chest to regulate their vitals and provide comfort.Feed on Demand: Allow nonstop nursing - it's establishing your supply. Prep for a relaxed evening (watch your fav tv show).Create a Calm Environment: Dim lights, use white noise, and minimize overstimulation.Share the Load: Involve your partner for diapers, burping, and holding to give you breaks.Lower Expectations: Forget schedules - focus on bonding and survival. This phase passes quickly. When to Call Your Provider: Fewer than two wet diapers in 24 hours, lethargy, no interest in feeding, dry lips/mouth, or if your gut says something's wrong.More from this episode:Read the Blog: Second Night Syndrome: Tips For Surviving Baby's Second NightHelpful Timestamps:01:04 Understanding Second Night Syndrome02:11 Why Your Baby is Crying04:36 Common Mistakes Parents Make06:28 Survival Guide for Second Night Syndrome09:03 When to Call Your Provider10:31 Conclusion and Next StepsJoin the #1 Birth Course for Confident Birth!Over 15,000 women have used our classes to prepare for birth with the knowledge and tools provided by a Labor Nurse.

The holidays are coming fast, but your goals don't have to go backward. We break down what real progress looks like with our latest InBody results and lay out a simple, sustainable plan to enjoy the season without turning six celebration days into sixty unfocused ones. Think mindful treats, smart training, and clear choices that keep momentum alive through the new year.We also share the nuts and bolts that make classes better for everyone: why the 25‑person cap protects safety and coaching quality, how no‑shows and late cancels block fellow members from training, and the crucial difference between signing up and signing in. We walk through the 5 a.m. waitlist policy, experience prerequisites for high‑pace hours, and how we make night‑before calls based on the workout. If email filters or app logins are getting in your way, we've got fixes and a direct line for support. On the community front, we preview the Christmas party with a firm RSVP system so we can plan food, share the holiday schedule with closures and half days, and drop an early registration link for HYROX Vegas. Around the facility, we're reorganizing equipment, dialing in layouts, and adding rope climbs so we can program them fairly. We also set clear standards for kids training during non‑peak classes: parent responsibility, coach approval, and a focus on coordination and safety within an adult‑first environment. Wrap it all together, and the message is simple—plan ahead, respect the room, enjoy the real holidays, and finish the year strong with a community that's pulling in the same direction. If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a gym friend who needs holiday guardrails, and leave a quick review with the one tip that keeps you consistent.
