Here is Part Two of the King Gizzard Album Comparison. For your first episode of the 2023 season, we had to release it in two parts because there was a lot to include. Enjoy! Got together with the Colorado Crew (Henry, Tara, and Jason) to discuss the ten-year anniversary re-release of Champ by Tokyo Police Club. An album we'd all listened to before and that has become a staple in so many an indie kids' playlist repertoire. By touring this album ten years on and releasing a deluxe version with 13 extra tracks for their fans, TPC is really honoring one of their most popular albums this year and we had to pay tribute as well. The Glitter Shop (@theglittershopmusic) is a three-piece from Bury Saint Edmunds, UK; where they've been making grungey indie pop music for a few years now. After a hiatus from releasing their own music, having only put out a smashing cover of "Age of Consent" by New Order in the last few years, the trio has made a re-emergence this summer; starting to play gigs again, now that things are opening back up in the UK, and they are set to release a bunch of new original tunes! I personally cannot wait to hear their new sound and see what they've been working on. TW: This episode discusses some heavy topics including the mention of suicide. This month, my co-host Henry and I were joined by my friends from Probably Oslo, Danny & Alex, to talk about the debut self-titled 'For Those I Love' album. David Balfe is a Dublin-based musician and artist. This is his first and debut album as For Those I Love (@forthoseilove), but he's been a part of a few other projects; including the collective Burnt Out, one of at least three musical projects that he formed with his best friend Paul Curran. The mention of Paul is vital to the discussion of the album since it was his passing in Feb 2018 that triggered David to make this album in the first place. He recorded over 75 songs for the album before whittling it down to the nine we have here. This is another one of my favorite albums of 2021 so far and I was really excited to discuss it with some great people, so I hope you enjoy and give it a listen as well. A maniacal cackle, some off-putting accordion, and one mad genius...this month's album was picked by the Boston based band Winkler, and it is none other than the iconic 'Rain Dogs' by Tom Waits.
