In Episode 19 we chatted with one of the hosts of The Pain Science and Sensibility Podcast, Sandy Hilton. Here on Episode 21, we talk to the other host Cory Blickenstaff. Cory works in a private practice in Vancouver, WA. He has presented nationally on topics related to treating pain as well as work site industrial care delivery models. He authored the monograph on work injury prevention and management in the APTA home study course “The Injured Worker.” Cory is also active on social media discussing and debating current practice issues and applications and occasionally writes on the Leaps and Bounds blog.

Episode 19 is with one of the hosts of Pain Science and Sensibility, Sandy Hilton. To be fair, Erik conducted the interview with Sandy back in March of 2015, before the idea of Pain Science and Sensibility was even conceived. Like Erik, Sandy is a Combines Sections Meeting program chair, he for Sports Section, she for the Section on Women’s Health, and they both happened to be in Washington, DC for the annual meeting for section program chairs. While they were there, they spent about an hour talking about her upbringing and path to get where she is today. Sandy is a practice owner that specializes in chronic pain and pelvic health in Chicago, Illinois. Her practice, Entropy Physio, is also known for bringing internationally recognized experts into their clinic to provide continuing education for physical therapists. In this episode, Erik has a conversation with Terry Malone, PT, EdD, ATC, FAPTA, a full professor and former Physical Therapy Program Director at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He is also a Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association and has been active in the Sports Physical Therapy Section for several decades. Terry gives quite a unique perspective on the history and current state of sports physical therapy.

In this episode, Erik sits down with Chuck Thigpen, PhD, PT, ATC, a clinical research scientist with Proaxis Therapy in Greenville, SC. He is also the current Research Chair for the Sports Physical therapy Section of the American Physical Therapy Association and serving on the writing panel for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Appropriate Use Criteria for the treatment of rotator cuff tears.

This is the last episode of PT Podcast for a little while. This episode is my interview with Chris Wilson, a member of APTA's Innovation Summit. We discuss his time in the US Air Force and some ideas regarding the role of physical therapy in the changing healthcare landscape.

Dan and I sit down and talk about working in professional sports, hanging around the weight room, and the application of exercise science in physical therapy.

Phil and I were teamed together to provide a lab presentation on evaluation of the athlete’s hip at Team Concept Conference in Las Vegas, NV. We figured that it would be fun to sit down and chat for an hour about the role of research and some of the different philosophies in physical therapy.
