A Winnipeg Free Press columnist was invited to meet with residents and stakeholders to hear their concerns about locating the NDP's proposed Safe Consumption Site in their area. Episode 34 reviews in three acts the invitation to Dan Lett, the aspersions he made about those questioning the proposal, and the scathing response to his smears from a woman who lives in the East Exchange.Act 1- On Friday morning, after "an email exchange between you and a resident of the exchange was shared with me yesterday," a Point Douglas mother of five contacted Dan Lett. "If you're truly confident that the site will bring safety and stability to Point Douglas, then we would like to extend a sincere invitation: join us for a walk through our community. Let us show you our homes, our streets, our schools, our challenges, and our strengths."She told Lett, "What's striking is that, in all these confident assertions, you've never once explained how this safety is achieved nor have you offered any data to support such claims... We'd be happy to sit down afterward for a beer or a gin and tonic and have a real, face-to-face conversation. Because this isn't just policy. It's our lived experience."You'll also hear about the "math crisis" facing the communities east of Main Street, where "most individuals (targeted by) the SCS are not dipping into RRSPs or investment portfolios" but instead turn to theft and crime from area yards and businesses to find the thousands of dollars needed every day to pay their drug dealers.15.45 Act 2 - Dan Lett turned down the offer, instead stereotyping the concerned residents as lacking empathy for addicts and smearing them as "being part of the ongoing problem." "It is with great sadness and some bemusement that I respond to another active member of your neighborhood ..."Lett's sanctimonious response was a stunning example of how legacy media in Winnipeg don't just repeat the narrative supporting a drug use site - they promote it."I've owned businesses right in your neighborhood. I honestly don't need to educated about the problems that exist."This Ivory Tower attitude from supporters of an SCS across from Argyle High School like Dan Lett resemble the ultimate NIMBYs. It's easy to volunteer other families and property owners to deal with the costs and trauma that accompany every SCS created in Canada.27.35 Act 3- A Free Press subscriber who was part of the email chain sent a reply to Lett about his crass remarks and to his biased coverage of the site controversy."The dismissive remarks and palpable tone of contempt toward residents questioning policy decisions have led me to reconsider my continued support (for the Free Press)... Residents raising concerns about the proposed supervised consumption site at 200 Disraeli are not “rapid gentrifiers.” They are concerned neighbours seeking accountability and balance."Her neighbours who are recovering addicts "deserve not to be continuously exposed to open drug use and dealing in their community. Nor should it amuse you."She continued, "The proposed location—directly across from a high school and mere meters from daycares, churches, and youth centres—contradicts the Premier's assurances that such facilities would not be placed near schools. These are serious issues requiring thoughtful coverage, not mockery."Hear how she refuted Lett's allegation "not a single one" of the opponents had brought forward other ideas, and pointed out the serious questions about public safety, site management, and "the over-reliance on encampments" that are yet unanswered by the NDP and site applicants, the Aboriginal Wellness Centre. She again invited him to meet with the community, after she educated him. What will Dan Lett do next?*****Wab Kinew and his neighbours got a flyer from those concerned residents - read Marty's report:https://winnipegsun.com/opinion/columnists/gold-would-you-allow-this-next-to-your-childs-school-kinews-neighbours-demand-answers-on-drug-site-plan

This podcast introduces a novel profiling technique for identifying vulnerabilities in smart contracts (SCs), specifically proposing an enhanced Genetic Algorithm (EGA). It details the architecture of SCsVulLyzer (V2.0), a tool designed for feature extraction and optimization in SC analysis. The paper further categorizes and analyzes existing vulnerability detection methods, contrasting non-learning-based approaches like rule-based systems and finite state machines with learning-based techniques such as machine learning and deep learning. Ultimately, the research demonstrates the superior performance of the EGA model in accurately detecting various SC vulnerabilities compared to traditional and neural network-based methods, while also visualising and defining common profiles for both vulnerable and secure SCs.

In this episode of RAPM Focus, Editor-in-Chief Brian Sites, MD, speaks with RAPM Editor Ryan D'Souza, MD, and Nasir Hussain, MD, following the October 2024 publication of “Hidden Influence? Unmasking Conflicts of Interest from Randomized Clinical Trials on Spinal Cord Stimulation for Chronic Pain.” Let's set the stage first. Spinal cord stimulation, or SCS, is a therapy that involves implanting a device that sends electrical signals to the spinal cord, aiming to disrupt pain signals before they reach the brain. It's a rapidly evolving field with a lot of promise, but it also attracts substantial investment from medical device companies. Now, when we talk about conflicts of interest, or COIs, we're referring to situations where a researcher's personal interests, particularly financial ones, have the potential to cloud their professional judgment and influence the outcomes of their research. Think of it this way: if a researcher is financially tied to a company that makes a specific SCS device, might they be more inclined to see their research results in a favorable light? That's the concern. Dr. Ryan D'Souza is an associate professor and pain medicine physician at Mayo Clinic. He is the Director of Neuromodulation, and Director of the Inpatient Pain Service. He serves on the Board of Directors of the North American Neuromodulation Society and also serves in leadership roles for ASRA Pain Medicine. Dr. D'Souza has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and serves on several editorial boards. Dr. Nasir Hussain is a pain medicine physician and anesthesiologist at the Ohio State University. He is an assistant professor, associate program director for the anesthesiology residency, and assistant program director of the chronic pain fellowship. Dr. Hussain has authored over 110 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals in the field, and has presented his work nationally at several conferences. *The purpose of this podcast is to educate and to inform. What Stoicism Teaches About Legendary Living and Lasting ResilienceIn this episode, I dive deep into the transformative world of Stoicism. Instead of focusing on a single book, I'll take you on an engaging journey through the foundations of Stoicism, sharing its timeless wisdom and how its principles have shaped not only my life, the cornerstone of this podcast, but also everything I do in business and life. You'll learn about the origins of Stoicism, how a shipwrecked merchant named Zeno sparked a movement that has influenced figures from emperors to everyday people. I break down the philosophy's key thinkers like Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus, and highlight why their approach to virtue, self-mastery, and resilience can help anyone navigate today's challenges with clarity and purpose. This episode isn't just a history lesson; it's packed with practical Stoic exercises and actionable insights for mastering your mind, managing emotions, and living a life of intention. I also share a range of modern resources, book recommendations, and even personal anecdotes about how Stoicism's principles have helped him embrace adversity, build discipline, and focus on what truly matters.Whether you're new to Stoicism or looking to deepen your understanding, this episode is your invitation to learn, grow, and transform. Stick around for a thoughtful discussion that just might change the way you approach life's obstacles—and help you step closer to Becoming Legendary.Enjoy the episode!YouTube: youtu.be/AqivvS4nG6U Show Notes: TheSocialChameleon.Show/Stoicism You can listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, Pocket Casts, Castbox, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Audible, Substack, or your favorite podcast platform.

This is the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I'm Ichha Sharma.Today is the 2nd of May and here are the headlines.Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the second Cabinet Committee on Security meeting following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed at least 26 people. Key ministers including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and S. Jaishankar attended. Modi also led meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs and the Cabinet Economic Affairs Committee. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and emphasized that the perpetrators, backers, and planners of the Pahalgam terror attack must be brought to justice.Additionally, Pakistan violated the ceasefire for the seventh consecutive night, firing across the Line of Control in Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor. The Indian Army responded in a controlled and measured manner. The ongoing violations come amid heightened tensions after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. On Tuesday, the DGMOs of both countries held a hotline discussion, during which India warned Pakistan about repeated unprovoked ceasefire breaches. The situation remains volatile as Pakistan continues to provoke along both the LoC and the International Border. The next decennial Census of India is set to break new ground by including a detailed enumeration of caste—something that hasn't been attempted since the British-era census of 1931. With the Centre indicating its willingness to capture OBC data, this marks a significant policy shift with far-reaching social and political implications. The most crucial question the government must now address — and one that will ultimately be a political call, much like the decision to enumerate caste itself — is which list to use while enumerating OBCs. In the last Census, for SCs and STs, the proforma relied on the official lists notified under the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950, and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950. These lists — currently comprising 1,170 castes under SC and 890 communities under ST — are periodically updated through amendments passed by Parliament.Communal tensions erupted in Nainital, Uttarakhand, after the family of a minor girl filed a rape complaint against a 65-year-old contractor, Usman. The incident allegedly occurred on April 12. The accused was arrested on Wednesday under the POCSO Act. That night, mobs vandalized shops and eateries belonging to the minority community and protested outside a mosque and police station. Videos show shop staff being slapped. Police confirmed the situation is under control, but the incident has inflamed already sensitive communal sentiments in the area. The United States and Ukraine signed a major agreement granting Washington access to Ukraine's critical mineral reserves, including titanium, lithium, and uranium. Known as the U.S.-Ukraine Reinvestment Fund, the deal aims to boost Ukraine's post-war recovery while attracting global investors. The pact also sends a strong message to Russia, showing the U.S. remains committed to Ukraine's sovereignty and economic stability. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the fund represents a long-term partnership focused on rebuilding Ukraine as a free and prosperous nation. This was the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express.

Huge thank you to our shows sponsor:DrinkLMNT.com/fitcareGet a free sample pack with any order!Book disucssed on the episode - blueprint for revolution:https://amzn.to/4hXoYvAFueled by the unnecessary loss of my father to medical mismanagement as well as a failed surgery that led to permanent loss of function in my shoulder, I started The HoneyBadger Project with the goal of creating a community of clinicians that were hell bent on driving change. But let me back up and give you the full origin story….I'm a clinician first. At the peak of my credentialing, I was PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, CSCS, Pn1, TPI-1, PES (and a handful more that I now know are BS lol).In 2015 I started a clinic inside a storage closet of a warehouse gym and grew it to 5 locations. I sold that practice in 2019 and started dreaming about how to inspire innovation in the “service” side of healthcare (aka the allied health professions beyond PT including DCs, OTs, SLPs, & mental health professionals).I began heavily investing in business education and mentorship and became obsessed with studying how Silicon Valley incubators, like Y Combinator, consistently produced businesses that changed the world (like AirBnB, DoorDash, Instacart, etc).I couldn't find anything in healthcare like that so I decided to build it myself.5 years later, my team and I have helped over 1000 clinicians reimagine the way they practice by starting mission-driven practices that incorporate easy to use technology. I also continue to own and grow multiple patient facing businesses.I'm on a mission to evolve healthcare. I hope you'll join me.

Is Dispensationalism just an innovative idea from the mind of John Nelson Darby? Dr. James Fazio returns to the Bible and Theology Matters podcast to answer that question and more. Is Dispensationalism new as some people claim? Dr. James Fazio will respond to this OLD accusation that is repeated ad nauseam.Dr. Fazio is the Dean of Bible and Theology at Southern California Seminary. He also serves as Professor of Biblical Studies, specializing in hermeneutics and historical literature. He is the author and editor of several books including Forged from Reformation, Brethren and the Church, and Discovering Dispensationalism. This includes recording at home again (another dumb reason why) and why Gavin is recording on his iPhone's speaker (0 mins 15 secs) Interview with Peter McNamara and Bradley Grace on soloing fast We begin setting the scenes for this episode's discussion with Peter McNamara and Bradley Grace about how to theoretically solo the board as quickly as possible and how to best practically achieve this (2 mins 25 secs) They discuss their drinks in the interview and the reason for the discussion (3 mins 30 secs) Peter talks about the theory behind how to solo as quickly as possible on the board in 1903 (7 mins 30 secs) Theoretically most players can get to 21 SCs in 1903 (9 mins 30 secs) Brad talks about the theory of reaching 21 SC in 1903 as England (11 mins 15 secs) Peter talks about a Backstabbr sandbox with Italy in 1903 with 21 SC (12 mins 30 secs) They discuss the mathematical equation to solo in 1903. Peter doesn't have it at hand, so Gavin finds it on ChatGPT with lots of other useful elements for this strategy (14 mins 30 secs) They all move onto the practical dynamics of being able to solo as quickly as possible, with Brad discussing soloing in 1904 (22 mins) Peter gives his perspective on why he could never solo that fast (26 mins) Ken asks about being able to make 18 with your own units, without other countries convoying (30 mins 45 secs) They talk about the practical aspects for how to convince players to allow you to solo so fast (37 mins 40 secs) Peter blows away the myth of The Return of the Mack (42 mins) Peter manages to find the sand box for the game at the 2020 Poppycon (45 mins) Ken and Gavin pay tribute to both Peter and Bradley as players and ask about their upcoming tournaments - apologies if they talk about tournaments that happened. Remember, things are pretty busy for the guys now so sometimes the podcast episodes come out much later then when they were recorded (50 mins 30 secs) The interview wraps up (55 mins) The guys give their perspectives on the interview and an update on the math sent post-interview by Peter - apologies for the bad audio from the breeze. They ask if anyone is aware of a solo by 1903 (56 mins) Ken talks about heading over to the Southeast Asian New Years Tournament, with Gavin asking if he's going to try a fastest solo ever effort (1 hr 2 mins) They also discuss busting (unfortunately) the Return of the Mack myth (1 hr 5 mins) Around the grounds Gavin discusses buying into a game he didn't remember buying in to (1 hr 6 mins 30 sec) The theory about dogs and their owners and picking up a great position that with some fast talk is doing very well (1 hr 8 mins) Ken discusses his Imperial game (1 hr 10 mins 45 secs) Despite talking about the vDip for podcast listeners, the game is no longer available - sorry folks with all the busy real life stuff tihs episode was recorded about a month before it came out (1 hr 15 mins 45 secs) They touch on the last time they were in Thailand when they came up the idea of Big Stick Diplomacy. They talk about whether to add to the variant the ability to move from one theatre to another, but allowing for a delay getting there eg using David E Cohen's ocean stacking or similar for naval travel (1 hr 19 mins) The guys start wrapping up the show (1 hr 25 mins) Venue: At home, Brisbane Drinks for the interview: Gavin:- Hempranillo Australian shiraz-tempranillo Ken: Kaner's dark ale home brew Bradley: Coors beer Peter: Penfolds shiraz Just a reminder you can support the show by giving it 5 stars on iTunes or Stitcher.
