Hour 1 Today could be elimination day for the Sixers. Luis Severino took a no hitter into the eighth inning and the Mets managed to lose the game. The Yankees were shut out by the Orioles. These are not the same old Orioles. Richard Jefferson seems to hate the Knicks and is in a Twitter beef situation with Knicks fan and celebrity, Ben Stiller. Boomer doesn't feel the same way about Jefferson. Gio thinks it sounds like he wants the Sixers to win and sounds annoyed that the Knicks are good. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with audio from the Yankees loss in Baltimore. We heard from Howie Rose as Severino lost his no hit bid. Keith Raad called it a ‘duck fart base hit'. What does that even mean? Denver eliminated the Lakers in five. Travis Kelce signed a 2-year deal with the Chiefs. Zeke Elliott is back with the Cowboys on a 1-year deal. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer got a lot of messages yesterday. The radio people were celebrating and his TV people treated it like a funeral. James Brown left a voicemail to Boomer that sounded like a eulogy. Boomer got a nice text message from Christopher Johnson. Brian Daboll also reached out. Al & Jerry went to Princeton Longevity Center yesterday and Al found out he needs to gain muscle and improve his bone density. Hour 2 Most teams only play hard when the playoffs start, but the Knicks played hard all season long. The in-season tournament was touted as being for fans, but it was really for the players to just make more money. Denver and Minnesota should be a great series. Boomer turned down a ticket for tonight's Knicks game. Boomer is rooting for the Islanders as well. Gio can't believe Gary Vee has such great seats at the Knicks game. A caller tells Boomer to stop talking about hockey with the NBA playoffs in full force. The next call said nobody cares about basketball. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of Luis Severino taking a no-hitter into the eighth. The Yankees got shut out in Baltimore. The Nuggets eliminated the Lakers and will face the Timberwolves. In the final segment of the hour, this Friday is our live show at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City. We are doing a talent show with Al singing a parody, Gio playing guitar and Boomer playing the clarinet. A caller is happy to have a full-time ‘weekday Boomer' now that he's not on NFL Today anymore. Peter Schwartz got too expensive for us so he's out of the live show in Jersey City. Hour 3 The Knicks can eliminate the Sixers tonight. We still don't know if Mitchell Robinson will play. He will most likely not. The Knicks cannot let the Sixers drag them down by playing dirty. Boomer is looking forward to the way Knicks fans treat Joel Embiid tonight. Ben Stiller is in a Twitter beef with Richard Jefferson regarding his coverage of the Knicks. We talked about some of the great Ben Stiller movies. Jerry returns for an update but first we get a review of Jerry's day at Princeton Longevity Center. Jerry has the sounds of the Cubs beating the Mets, despite Luis Severino taking a no hitter into the eighth. The Yankees were shutout in Baltimore. The Minnesota Twins have a ‘summer, tangy sausage' they celebrate with when they hit home runs. A caller to Chris Russo said he's a Knicks fan but played golf when the game was on. The Nuggets eliminated the Lakers. Stephen A. Smith said Devin Booker wants to come to the Knicks. In the final segment of the hour, Gio and C-Lo played in the media tournament at the Travelers in Cromwell, CT. Hour 4 Stephen A. Smith is saying that Devin Booker wants to come to the Knicks. Jalen Brunson and Devin Booker could work together. Gio is confident tonight with the Knicks, but not overly confident. We cannot wait to see how Knicks fans treat Joel Embiid tonight. Jerry returns for his final update of the day but first Boomer told us who did or didn't text him yesterday. Pat McAfee and Adam Schefter talked about Boomer leaving the NFL Today. Luis Severino took a no hitter into the eighth inning and the Mets somehow lost the game. The Nuggets eliminated LeBron and the Lakers and will face Minnesota next. The Moment of The Day involves a hit in the Mets game being referred to as a ‘dug fart' base hit. In the final segment of the show, Gio really wishes he could hear the voicemail that James Brown left for Boomer yesterday. Our production guy, Zach, sent Boomer a text that was confusing.

Texas State University's Christopher Johnson, a clinical professor in the Department of Sociology, joins the Big Ideas TXST podcast to discuss understanding Alzheimer's disease as a type of time travel. Johnson developed the “Time Travel” model to better explain the variable memory loss of people suffering from Alzheimer's. Those afflicted by Alzheimer's experience cognitive, emotional, social, physical and functional regression. The “Time Travel” model uses aspects of Piaget's theory of adult development in reverse, suggesting a non-linear regression but rather connecting loops spiraling downward to depict the fluctuating regression as more recent memories are lost and the individual descends deeper into the past. The insight this model provides will hopefully increase the understanding of gerontologists and caregivers and provide new ways to develop strategies to enhance future caregiving techniques. Johnson served as director of gerontology for the Institute of Gerontology at the University of Louisiana for 27 years. While there, he developed an award-winning master's in gerontology online course, which earned the distinction of being designated one of the top academic programs in the state. Johnson retired from ULM and traveled to Scotland to teach for a year and a half in the University of Stirling's dementia studies program before joining TXST to help develop the nation's first master of science degree program in dementia and aging studies.FURTHER READING:Texas Standard: Why The US, And Texas, Need To Catch Up When It Comes To Dementia CareMemory WhispererAlzheimer's Speaks

BREAK: CUofGA STORY 1: Man Sentenced to Life for Austell Murder Douglasville resident, Sony Lebrun, 37, has been handed a life sentence without parole for a murder case dating back to August 2021. The Cobb County jury found him guilty on multiple charges including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and firearm possession. Lebrun's conviction relates to the fatal shooting of Eric Stone, a consequence of road rage at the Premier Lane Apartments in Austell. Witnesses pinpointed Lebrun as the culprit and his presence at the crime scene was confirmed by GPS cell phone data. Cobb Superior Court Judge Sonja Brown presided over his sentencing, commending the diligent efforts of law enforcement and prosecutors in the case. Cobb County Assistant District Attorneys Jay Winkler and Donna Merrell represented the prosecution for District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr.'s office. Broady underscored the importance of this conviction in reinforcing community safety. STORY 2: Fatal Crash in South Cobb No Longer Investigated as a Hit and Run The investigation into a fatal crash on Veterans Memorial Highway has taken a turn. Authorities have stopped their hunt for a black SUV previously thought to be involved in the incident. Instead, the collision has now been attributed to a motorcycle operated by Christopher Johnson hitting pedestrian Melissa Winslow. Winslow sustained severe injuries as a result of the accident. Tragically, Johnson did not survive and was declared dead at the scene. Initially, it was believed that Winslow had been trapped under the SUV, but further investigation clarified that the SUV's driver had stopped to inspect the damage before leaving the site. The unfortunate event transpired when Winslow attempted to cross the highway. Johnson's motorcycle hit her, causing her to be thrown into the westbound lanes. The case continues to be under scrutiny by local authorities. STORY 3: Cobb Sheriff Recognized for 'Triple Crown' Accreditation Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens recently received recognition at the Georgia Senate for a significant achievement by his office. His department has secured accreditations from the three most prestigious law enforcement credentialing authorities in the U.S - the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, the American Correctional Association, and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. The Cobb Sheriff's Office now stands among an exclusive group of 100 sheriff's offices across the nation and only five in Georgia to have attained this honor. Owens underscored the critical role of professionalism in law enforcement during his remarks. He generously attributed this accomplishment to his devoted staff, whose efforts have materially elevated the agency's standards and services, ultimately benefiting the citizens of Cobb County. This achievement highlights the commitment of Sheriff Owens and his team to uphold the highest standards of law enforcement excellence, underscoring their dedication to serving the community with integrity and professionalism. STORY 7: With Brad Wheeler's support, Tre' Hutchins Hopes to Advance Cobb School Safety Plan In the wake of a shooting incident at McEachern High School, Leroy Tre' Hutchins, a member of the Cobb County Board of Education, has put forth a comprehensive school safety plan. This proposal has managed to secure a rare consensus across party lines. Key elements of the plan include deploying school support officers, procuring technology to detect weapons at events and within school premises, and conducting a financial analysis. Hutchins aspires to utilize surplus funds along with revenue generated from the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax to offset the costs associated with these measures. While certain safety initiatives are already underway, Hutchins underscores the importance of an all-encompassing strategy to ensure student safety remains paramount.
