In this episode, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Fadi joins Laura for an open, practical conversation about pelvic floor health, incontinence, prolapse and the realities of modern obstetrics.Dr Fadi explains how childbirth, ageing and menopause affect the pelvic floor, and why so many women end up living with stress incontinence, prolapse and faecal incontinence in silence. He walks through the full range of treatment options — from physiotherapy and pessaries to urethral bulking, Botox, sacral neuromodulation, robotic surgery, and the mesh procedures paused in Ireland since 2018.The conversation also takes in interstitial cystitis, vaginal oestrogen, the impact of long inductions on older mothers, and the trade-offs women now weigh up between a vaginal delivery and a caesarean section. Dr Fadi closes with a reflection on his time working with Syrian refugees, where he met 13-year-old mothers and a 26-year-old grandmother.

Leah's breakthrough came when she realized she could help women actually heal the separation between their abdominal muscles–known as diastasis recti–even years after giving birth. Clients who came for core work started reporting that they'd stopped leaking, that sex felt better, that back pain eased, and that their bodies finally felt like their own again– issues they never mentioned at the start. She explains exactly how fixing the deep core resolves problems women didn't even know were connected. We'll give detailed descriptions of the exercises. You can also watch this one on YouTube to see the exercise demonstrations as well as the anatomical illustrations referenced in this episode, showing the difference between a healthy midline and one with significant diastasis recti separation.Leah Keller is a certified personal trainer specializing in core and pelvic floor health, and co-founder of Every Mother (formerly The Dia Method). “Since I've been belly dancing, I don't have bladder leaking anymore.”There's a growing conversation in women's health around doing everything “right” when it comes to exercise. The right intensity, the right timing, the right protocol for your hormones, your nervous system, your stage of life. And while there's value in understanding those nuances, when we get caught up in the details, movement becomes just another thing to optimize, measure, and get perfect. Many women are navigating pelvic health challenges like incontinence, pain, or disconnection from their bodies, often alongside a deeper sense of tension, fear, or even shame around movement. And in that context, more precision and more perfection aren't usually what's needed. Sometimes what's missing is a way to reconnect with the body that feels safe, intuitive, and even enjoyable.Today, I'm joined by Jennifer Sobel, professional belly dance instructor and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, to explore how belly dance can be used as a therapeutic and accessible tool for pelvic health. We talk about how these movements naturally build strength and mobility through the pelvic floor, why they can be especially helpful for women who feel disconnected from their bodies, how clinicians can integrate this kind of movement into pelvic rehab, why consistency matters more than perfection, and how bringing joy back into movement may be one of the most important shifts we can make in women's health.---Learn more or watch the video version of this conversation at https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/how-belly-dancing-and-pelvic-rehab-heal-incontinence-and-bring-joy-to-healing-with-jennifer-sobel/.Connect with me and access our entire platform at IntegrativeWomensHealthInstitute.com (https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/).Find and follow us @integrativewomenshealth on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@integrativewomenshealth) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/integrativewomenshealth/).

In this episode of Disruption/Interruption, KJ sits down with Tracy MacNeal, CEO of Maternal Medical, to discuss a long-overlooked crisis in women's health: birth injuries. Tracy reveals how 10-15% of women who deliver vaginally experience severe pelvic floor trauma—injuries that often go undiagnosed and untreated for years. She shares how her company is developing groundbreaking technology to prevent these injuries during childbirth and why this space has been so dramatically underinvested. This conversation exposes the silence around maternal health and the urgent need for innovation in the delivery room. Four Key Takeaways: [11:28] The Hidden Epidemic of Birth Injuries - 10-15% of women who deliver vaginally suffer pelvic floor muscles torn off the bone—an injury only visible through ultrasound or MRI. This leads to pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, and chronic pain, yet most women leave the hospital without knowing they've been injured. [5:22] Innovation Has Been Stalled for 80 Years - The epidural, introduced in the 1940s, was the last major innovation in labor and delivery. Unlike other medical fields that see constant advancement, maternal health has been dramatically underinvested, creating an anemic ecosystem for research and development. [20:12] Smart Technology That Listens to the Body - Maternal Medical's device gently pre-stretches the birth canal by listening to the mother's tissue and only expanding one millimeter at a time when the body relaxes. In clinical trials of over 200 patients, the device group had zero injuries compared to 11% in the control group. [30:58] The Power of Speaking Up - Women's silence about their symptoms has perpetuated the problem. When women speak up about birth injuries, it signals to investors that patients care and pushes physicians to prioritize these issues. Advocacy drives innovation and funding in healthcare. Quote of the Show (28:27):"Unless she's a fighter pilot, having a baby is the most dangerous thing most women will ever do."- Tracy MacNeal Join our Anti-PR newsletter where we’re keeping a watchful and clever eye on PR trends, PR fails, and interesting news in tech so you don't have to. If you're a man in your 50s, 60s, or 70s waking up at night to pee, planning your day around bathroom access, or quietly worrying about erections and testosterone, this episode is for you. Dr. Geo sits down with Dr. Ravi Munver (Hackensack University Medical Center) to break down what's actually driving urinary symptoms, how to tell “prostate vs bladder,” when waiting too long can permanently weaken your bladder, and how today's BPH procedures compare—especially Aquablation (high-pressure, room-temperature waterjet therapy). What you'll learn in this episode• Why BPH symptoms can start earlier than most men think (and why more men are finally talking about it)• Why prostate size does NOT equal symptom severity (big prostate ≠ big problem… always)• How to distinguish “prostate obstruction” vs overactive bladder—and why you can't reliably do this without proper testing• The “danger zone”: when untreated obstruction can lead to a weakened/crippled bladder• Medication options: what each class does, who it's for, and the most common side effects• The full “toolbox” of procedures—from office-based options to the most durable surgical solutions• Why Aquablation is changing the conversation (symptom relief + low sexual side effects + broad size range)Episode chapters (timestamps)00:00:00 00:02:00 Why younger men are showing up with urinary symptoms Prostate growth patterns (growth early, pause, then growth again in the 40s); increased awareness, openness, and access to information.00:07:00 “Blame the organ you have” — prostate vs overactive bladder Why symptoms overlap; why only a clinician can truly differentiate causes.00:10:00 When should a man see a urologist? When symptoms interfere with life (work, travel, sleep). The real issue is often difficulty returning to sleep.00:13:00 The risk of waiting: bladder decompensation How long-term obstruction can lead to a weakened bladder and urinary retention.00:18:00 The holistic patient scenario + why objective testing matters Why symptoms can “seem better” while retention worsens; importance of measuring PVR and other tests.00:21:00 Medications for BPH—pros/cons• Alpha blockers: tamsulosin (Flomax), alfuzosin, silodosin (Rapaflo)• 5-alpha reductase inhibitors: finasteride, dutasteride• Tadalafil (Cialis) daily 5 mg: dual benefits for BPH + erectile function00:31:00 The modern BPH procedure toolbox TURP as the historical “gold standard,” plus lasers, robotic options, office-based procedures, and newer technologies.00:36:00 What men care about most when choosing a procedure Incontinence risk, erectile dysfunction risk, ejaculatory changes, irritative symptoms, and durability/retreatment rates.00:38:00 Robotic Simple Prostatectomy — what “simple” actually means Removing the obstructing inner tissue while leaving the capsule; major symptom relief for large prostates, with tradeoffs (especially ejaculation).00:43:00Aquablation explained (high-pressure water therapy) Image-guided treatment planning + robotic waterjet tissue removal with minimal thermal damage.00:48:00 Durability and size range Discussion of longer-term data vs TURP and why Aquablation can treat very large prostates.00:51:00 If Aquablation isn't available—what's next best? How options shift based on prostate size and the priority to preserve ejaculation vs maximize durability.00:54:00 Final guidance + where to find Dr. Munver Individualized care; find a urologist who can offer a broad set of options.___________________________________

Erectile dysfunction, testosterone changes, and urinary leakage can quietly affect confidence, relationships, and quality of life--yet many people assume they're just part of aging or something to ignore. Truth is, these are medical issues, and understanding them can make a significant difference. Today, we're discussing it openly on the latest episode of the podcast. If you've been quietly wondering, “Is this just part of getting older?”—you're not alone. Men's sexual and urinary health issues are common, treatable, and nothing to be embarrassed about. On Episode 6 of our show, Dr. Hilden sits down with urologist Dr. Travis Pagliara for a candid, stigma-free conversation about men's sexual and urinary health. We'll cover what is normal, what's not, how common these issues are, how common they are, who they affect, and the wide range of treatment options available. Plus, when is the right time to talk to a doctor, and why early conversations matter. This is no doubt a sensitive subject for some, but an amazing thing about our show is that you can get wise with us, without making anyone else the wiser. Hi and welcome to How Humans Heal. I'm Dr. Doni Wilson, and in today's episode, I'm really looking forward to introducing you to Kim Vopni. She's a certified fitness professional and menopause support practitioner known as the Vagina Coach. She helps women with their pelvic floor and vaginal health, and I'm so excited to get to talk about this with you today. Originally, Kim's work was focused on pregnant women with the intention of educating them about the pelvic floor before they gave birth because we know that pregnancy and childbirth do quite a number on the pelvic floor. Then it became clear that the postpartum recovery aspect was very overlooked. Women were being helped to prepare, but then they were sprinting back to the gym at one or two weeks postpartum. There was no recovery period that was even discussed. It just wasn't part of our culture. It's so unfortunate that women don't know that they need to do pelvic floor recovery exercises after birth. Many women need help with pelvic floor and vaginal issues and there's not enough help out there. First of all, we tend not to even talk about the vagina. We tend not to ask for help. Women go through a lot of pain and discomfort and don't even know that there is someone to ask for help with vaginal health issues. Kim and I both are here saying - listen, if you're struggling, there's help. We're here to help you! As he traced his family history, he learned his grandfather—who escaped Nazi Germany—struggled later in life with bladder control. That personal narrative sparked Isaac's mission: to create effective, noninvasive tools that can restore dignity and ease to the lives of those dealing with pelvic or bladder conditions.Under his leadership, Zida has secured FDA clearance for the Control Sock, and in early clinical use the device demonstrated ~80% “treatment success,” with meaningful reductions in urge incontinence and urinary frequency. Academically, Isaac holds a Master's in Technology Management, and professionally he's navigated the intersection of wearables, medical product development, and health tech start-ups. NOT JUST A RE-POST: TRUMP SAYS BIDEN WAS "CLONED," "EXECUTED" - 6.2.25

Countdown with Keith Olbermann

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 2, 2025 67:22 Transcription Available

SEASON 3 EPISODE 131: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump believes Biden was cloned and executed. Five years ago. He sent this out on his social media account Saturday night:"There is no Joe Biden – executed in 2020. Biden clones doubles and robotic engineered soulless mindless entities are what you see…” If you hear or read that this was Trump RE-posting something that some OTHER lunatic wrote on Trump’s social media site, or that this was Trump TROLLING, or owning the libs - this is incorrect and minimizes the severity of Trump’s accelerating complete mental breakdown. Unlike the original, TRUMP’S version also includes a photo HE has added. No matter what YOUR explanation for this is, or mine, or Fox’s, or his enablers, this country cannot have a president who promulgates theories that his predecessor was a clone, or a body double, or a robot. The dynamic tension keeping someone this damaged and disturbed from deciding now’s the time to nuke the world because don’t worry the people HE likes won’t be affected, is the same as the dynamic tension keeping a badly built bridge upright. It can hold for years or decades and then one day it just collapses and kills everybody. MEANWHILE, MUSK INCONTINENCE STORY LEAKS: Elon Musk was reportedly peeing his pants non-stop during the election? Afterwards? I don’t mean metaphorically. I mean… peeing his pants. New York Times about Musk in May, 2024: “Around that time, Mr. Musk told people that his ketamine use was causing bladder issues, according to people familiar with the conversations... The Food and Drug Administration (warns) chronic use can lead to addiction and problems with bladder pain and control." Where is the Jake Tapper book about THIS? Between THIS and Trump’s revelation that Biden wasn’t cognitively challenged last year and that instead he was dead and cloned and a robot - what does Jake Tapper do now? B-Block (33:14) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Con writer Kurt Schlichter thinks somebody else is "Two clever by half" never realizing...he isn't. Andrew Cuomo's excuse for breaking NYC traffic laws? He thought the reporters waiting to ask him questions about running for mayor were protestors. And Jake Tapper is losing roughly two viewers for every Biden book he sells. C-Block (45:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL/SPORTSBALL CENTER: Baseball's annual commemorations of Lou Gehrig have begun. It's the right time to remind you that when "The Iron Horse" was stricken by ALS, plenty of America's top sports authorities were convinced he was either faking it or not deserving of sympathy.
