Hey Girl! You know those moments that just make life feel so full circle? Well, that's what this episode felt like when I was interviewing my special guest for the show this week! Almost 8 yrs ago, I was just like you, searching instagram and social media for “Pelvic floor Exercises”, “Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy”, “Pregnancy Safe Exercises”,  “Prenatal Pelvic Floor” and more! Coming Fresh out of Grad school, pregnant with my second baby and now aware that Pelvic Floor PT exists and that guess what… I didn't need to pee my pants the last 6 years?! So I was motivated to keep my leaking from getting worse during the pregnancy and starting diving more into Pelvic Floor Health. At the time, I knew the “What” and some of the “Why” leaking and other pelvic issues occurred and that they were not normal, but I had yet to learn the “How” to fix it.     So after searching for reliable sources on social media (yes they exist but you have to do your research), I found the one and only Vaginal Whisperer, Dr. Sara Reardon. Wearing a Vulva costume and talking about taboo topics like poop and sex, she caught my attention immediately.  I started doing some of the exercises she talked about on her page and started to really see a difference and ultimately healed all of my incontinence! She was and is, a trailblazer for Pelvic health and Women's Health in general as she continues to educate, empower and support women all over the world while breaking down cultural barriers. With that being said, I am so thrilled to have Dr. Sara Reardon on the show this week to dive more into her story and how she continues to elevate the standard of care for women in the US and inspire clinicians (like me) to do the same!    Dr. Sara Reardon is a board-certified pelvic floor physical therapist with over 18 years of experience helping individuals prevent and overcome pelvic floor issues including, urinary leakage, painful sex, prolapse and discomfort during pregnancy, postpartum and menopause. Sara has been featured in Time, Yahoo, Harper's Bazaar, Romper, InStyle, Today, and numerous other podcasts, publications, and professional conferences about her advocacy and educational work as a pelvic floor therapist. She is also a TED presenter on Rethinking Postpartum Care. Sara is the Founder of The V-Hive, an online, on-demand pelvic floor fitness platform for pregnancy, postpartum, menopause, painful sex and pelvic floor strengthening. Sara lives in New Orleans with her husband and two sons. FLOORED: A Complete Guide to Women's Pelvic Floor Health at Every Age and Stage is her first book.   To connect with Sara or order her book Floored, see links at bottom of show notes.   If you want more support from me, reach out for 1:1 or group coaching, join my FREE and Private support group below and DOWNLOAD my new APP Pelvic Floor, Core & More that has my on demand 12 wk program, tracking features, pelvic floor 101 masterclass and more!    RESTORE is my first 12 wk online signature program hosted inside my new platform that will be an APP soon Pelvic Floor, Core & More! Inside that program I walk you through the basics of healing, restoring your breathing, posture, core function and overall strength and return to impact and intensity.  All with the guidance of me, a Pelvic Floor PT, in your pocket making sure that you are getting individualized support and feedback through the program during our weekly group coaching calls! This option is great for those that can't afford a one-on-one session for $200-$240, those that don't have access to a pelvic floor PT in person or those that want to have a structured organized program with support as they are phasing out of acute therapy treatments and working more independently.

“It's pretty amazing how much stress, emotion, memory, and trauma the pelvic bowl itself holds.” - Dr. Desiree Cassell Pelvic floor health is important to all of us. We all have a pelvic floor, and pelvic floor dysfunction can contribute to everything from incontinence and painful sex, which you might expect, but also knee, back, and hip pain, and even TMJ. This dysfunction can stem from many different types of triggers, and the signs are not always obvious. Seeking out a specialized pelvic floor PT who is trauma-informed and understands the importance of an internal assessment can be life-changing for many women experiencing pelvic floor issues, as Tami has seen for many of her fibro clients. Today, Tami is joined by Dr. Desiree Cassell, an expert pelvic floor physical therapist. After her first pregnancy, Dr. Desiree suffered from her own pelvic floor dysfunction, which she was able to resolve completely during her second pregnancy. This experience led to her passion in educating, empowering, and supporting other women throughout their lifespan, so that they don't have to accept these common issues as part of life. In this conversation, Dr. Desiree and Tami discuss how to find a qualified pelvic floor physical therapist and why in-person exams matter, what the pelvic floor is, how it works, and how pelvic PT differs from traditional physical therapy, why internal pelvic floor assessments are important, how they help to break stigma, what to expect during an internal assessment, what these assessments can reveal about your pain, how to choose a trauma-informed pelvic floor therapist, why comfort and trust are essential, common symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, why the condition is often misunderstood, the connection between your pelvic floor and the rest of your body, the impact of surgeries like C-sections and hysterectomies on pelvic health, the lack of follow-up care, how fascia, scar tissue, and emotional trauma can affect your pelvic floor and overall well-being, what to do if you've had surgery or trauma without pelvic floor rehab, breathwork to support pelvic floor healing and nervous system regulation, practical breathwork tips for identifying and releasing tension in your body, and more.     Note: This episode is not meant to be medical advice. Send us a textAfter last week's new episode here's a classic (which sounds rather self important tbh)I had a wonderful email from someone who said the following;Hi Pete, Long time no see, I hope you're well. As you probably know I gave birth again a few months ago and am working with a team on my recovery. We've only really just started so I'm very early on. My physio is (name removed) ,obviously I've known him for years, but my women's health physio is someone Iv'e never dealt with before (and neither has anyone else I know in (name of sport removed)) and she said something that stuck with me and made me think…ermm…I'll ask Pete about that.  She said that my post-partum recovery program should be specific to (sport removed). And yes going back to playing is absolutely key but, how is the program sport specific? when I asked her to clarify she said that another sport's program is completely different postpartum than ours is and she was a bit short after that so I left it. Any thoughts? So that is what I'm discussing today.I go through my reasoning and explain the way I work, with both athletes and non-athletes.Is it different if you're a tennis or football player? What about for judokas and shotputters?BTW this episode is not just for professional athletes, it VERY much also goes for "normal" people who just want to go back to doing what they love to do.As always; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles. Send us a textThis week I, once again, briefly touch on how long it takes to recover postpartum. This after a question from someone who asked "how long it would take to recover if you didn't do anything vs following a program".It's a fascinating question tbh and it kind of all depends on what you mean with "post partum recovery".I explain why I believe everyone needs a bit of assistance with their recovery and what the best methods, in order of effectiveness, are.I then talk for a while about the importance of following the right science communicators.A great post by Dr Colenso Semple on threads (my preferred platform) shows that just citing a paper, and even reading a paper, is not enough. In this case she highlights that one of the studies referenced in the paper was now retracted and written by someone who had falsified data. This shows you just how important it is to follow the right science communicators. I personally follow several and they are all experts in their related fields. Getting ALL your science info from one source (for instance Huberman) leaves you open to "the grift" and if people don't really know what they're talking about/citing then it's very easy to misinterpret a piece of information. (As I highlight by talking about another post with regards to Artificial Sweeteners and increased bodyfat %)Here is the link to that paper and here is the reference I talk about which shows why you really have to read these things carefully. As always; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles! So this means that you not only get 3 months FREE access, no obligation! BUT, if you decide you want to do the rest of the program, after only 5 months of paying $10/£8 a month you now get FREE LIFE TIME ACCESS! That's $50 max spend, in case you were wondering. This means you can sign up after your first child, use the program and recover and then still have access after giving birth to child 2 and 3!None of this "pay X amount a year" nonsense, once you've paid..you've paid! This makes HPNB not just the most efficient and complete post-partum recovery program, it's also BY FAR the best value.Though I'm not terribly active on  Instagram and Facebook you can follow us there. I am however active on Threads so find me there! Most women don't realize just how much menopause messes with their pelvic floor—until they're leaking when they laugh or feeling like their body just isn't working the way it used to. These changes can feel confusing, isolating, and even a little embarrassing—but they're more common (and more fixable) than you think. This week, I sat down with my friend Kim Vopni—aka The Vagina Coach—to talk about what's really going on with your body during this phase of life. Kim's a certified personal trainer, menopause support practitioner, CEO of a Global Pelvic Health company, and the powerhouse behind a global pelvic health movement helping women ditch the pads and feel like themselves again. We talk about the stuff your doctor probably didn't mention—like how hormones impact your pelvic floor, why Kegels aren't the only answer, and how things like hydration and breathing actually matter more than you'd think. Kim breaks it all down in a way that's clear, real, and honestly... kind of freeing. We even get into prolapse (yep, that's a thing) and how recovery doesn't have to mean surgery or silence. Her Buff Muff Method makes pelvic health feel doable—and even fun. If you've ever crossed your legs when you sneeze or planned your errands around the nearest bathroom, this one's for you. You deserve to feel strong, supported, and in control of your body again. Oh—and speaking of support, I've been loving the new Mighty Maca Mango lately. It's a super refreshing twist on my favorite hormone-supporting drink, and it's perfect over ice or blended into summer popsicles. Hey Momma! Is this your first baby? Or maybe it has been a while since your last pregnancy and you are trying to prepare yourself for the journey ahead. Either way, this episode is going to let you in on (many but not all) the things that can happen during pregnancy, delivery and postpartum, so that you can be more prepared than the rest of us! I polled over a hundred women to see what they wish they knew and now I'm giving you all the goodies!    Books like What to Expect When You Are Expecting, can be very helpful but many times we don't really think all those “crazy or scary” things can actually happen to us.  Or maybe you had no idea it could happen at all! Informing yourself beforehand can help you better prepare for the unexpected.. Because believe me there will be lots of that! But also help you realize you are not alone! So many moms suffer being told “its normal”, “ you are cleared”, “It will go away after baby comes out” only to find in reality, that is not always the case and we could have done something about it! Thats why in this week's episode we are talking about all those things we wish we knew… and I am sure that there are many I have not included and will probably do a part II, but for now I hope this episode helps inform and support you throughout your prenatal, birth and postpartum journey!    If you want more support, reach out for coaching, join my FREE and Private support group below and DOWNLOAD my new APP Pelvic Floor, Core & More that has my on demand 12 wk program, tracking features, pelvic floor 101 masterclass and more!    RESTORE is my first 12 wk online signature program hosted inside my new platform that will be an APP soon Pelvic Floor, Core & More! This option is great for those that can't afford a one-on-one session for $200-$240, those that don't have access to a pelvic floor PT in person or those that want to have a structured organized program with support as they are phasing out of acute therapy treatments and working more independently.
