New Jersey band CR and The Nones present their new album 'The Ghosts Are Coming Home', released via Montclair-based Magic Door Record Label. Gennone came of age playing in various projects in suburban New Jersey, including his former band, CR and The Degenerates, who released five albums from 2016 to 2018. This new project has allowed him to expand the unique hybrid of folk, country, punk, and heartland rock. CR and The Nones retains the Degenerates' core of Chris Gennone, lead/slide guitarist Jim Abbott, and bassist John Dewitt. Recalling past Garden State guitar music, Gennone's soulful vocals and his band's driving hooks invoke roads, journeys, and forward motion in general. Counting Neil Young and Jason Molina among major influences, his sound has always been propulsive. In 2020, CR and The Nones released their debut album 'Living In Fear' via Favorite Friend Records. Mixed by renowned producer Ray Ketchem (Guided By Voices, Luna, Versus, Elk City, Gramercy Arms) at Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, NJ, this album was selfproduced by Chris Gennone (CR to his friends) and mastered by Nick Bolton at Bolton Sound in Jersey City. 'The Ghosts Are Coming Home' is a culmination of the sound and aesthetic that CR Gennone has been building over many years and multiple bands. With an expansiveness and introspection that recalls The War on Drugs or early My Morning Jacket, the ten tracks here showcase an irresistible sincerity and heartfelt delivery. "I wrote and recorded this album before, during and after Covid, and I lived in five different places during this time, so it was a different experience than other stuff I've made. In the past, we've kind of just rolled with it and come up with guitar leads, riffs, and sounds on the fly. With Covid lockdowns and the help of some friends, this record really gave me the time and space to write and play my own leads, sing my own harmonies, change arrangements, and take on more of the production aspect of it," says CR Gennone.

Dr. John DeWitt is our chiropractor and the man behind the website he calls concussion video where you can learn all about his latest research into head trauma and head injuries. During the show we also discussed some supplements he's developing which are specifically targeted for brain health. If you know of somebody that has a concussion they'll definitely want to listen to this show with Dr. John Dewitt. Concussions are a subject that hits close to home with Dr. Dewitt because as a former professional football player, he's had a few of them himself. What I learned in this show about concussions is that you don't have to be hit in the head hard at all. Some soccer players get concussions from simply heading the ball on their forehead. If you can imagine a simple fall on the floor or even some whiplash from a car accident, these seemingly small injuries can cause a concussion. The other thing I learned about concussions is that they're not just bruises on the brain. I always thought that a concussion was just a bruise on your brain. But a concussion can also be where brain matter that connects your brain to your spine and skull get damaged or even torn. So a concussion is much more than a lesion or bruise on your brain. It could be other tissue that gets damaged during the initial injury. This makes me worried for all UFC fighters, boxers and football players. I didn't know that cheerleaders and hockey players are very prone to getting head injuries and concussions. If you know of anybody with traumatic head injuries and you think they might have a concussion, please send them this show so they can get some help! They'll appreciate it! Thanks. Plausibly Live! - The Official Podcast of The Dave Bowman Show

I have long held that the Anti-Federalist of 1788 is the ideological grandfather of today's libertarian*. Many of the same issues of today find a distant echo in the complaints of the Anti-Federalists. In those distant echo's of the past are many ideas and knowledge points which both the Federalist and Anti-Federalist not only knew, but understood. Many of the things that would have stood out to the readers and listeners of 1788 were familiar to them, but to our modern ears and eyes, either make no sense or we simply do not even recognize them as meaningful. Let's start with the names. The Federalists papers, written by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay, signed their papers with the nom de plume “Publius.” There were, of course, multiple reasons for this. The the use of a fictitious name removed the built in prejudice from the reader, either for or against the actual author. The name “Publius” was partially chosen to represent the idea, specifically “of the people,” reflecting the Federalist position that “We the People” had created and would operate the Constitution were it ratified. The name would have been seen as a bold claim that the people themselves were sharing this opinion of things. But there is actually a deeper meaning to the name. For the same reasons, the Anti-Federalists adopted a variety of names and identities: Cato, John DeWitt, the Pennsylvania Minority, the Federal Farmer, and of course, our focus, Brutus. Unlike the Federalist Papers, some of the authors we now know, but many of them at which we are still, more than two centuries later, simply guessing. Today we read these many names and arguments and we have lost the understanding that readers of both sides would have had in 1788. To gain back some of that understanding, we have to travel back in time to the Rome and the foundation of the Republic. It is here that we find two men, Publius Valerius Policola and Lucius Junius Brutus. More than two thousand years later these two men would inspire the writers on both sides of the ratification debate to proclaim their positions and beliefs. In 1788, both sides and their audiences knew this history and what was being said… --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/plausibly-live/message

While the party, as such, has some positions in which I am full agreement, the basic philosophy of the party is not compatible with my own beliefs. Nutrition-based healing for concussions is gaining recognition for the vast research supporting not only how to treat a concussion more effectively and naturally, but also because nutrition helps prevent serious results from traumatic brain injuries. This book allows you to learn from someone who was “in the game” as an NFL football player and saw first-hand what traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and concussions do over the course of a lifetime for anyone in almost any sport. You’ll learn * Which two women’s sports are in the top five for highest risk of concussion. * How your nutritional habits can increase risk for brain damage. * Best practices for recovering from a concussion. * Exact recommendations for nutrients while healthy and after an injury. * Foods to avoid because they slow brain and injury recovery. From field/ice hockey, lacrosse, and soccer as well as basketball to volleyball, reviewing the whole body after an incident as a system rather than just the symptoms from a traumatic injury is much more important than seeing individual signs after an event. Dr. John DeWitt has earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine and has been studying holistic nutrition. John is a believer in holistic applications of nutrients that can help reduce or prevent concussions when consumed in the proper amounts — even if you or a loved one has already suffered from a TBI, the nutrients you learn in his book can help lessen the symptoms and create a healthier lifestyle for you and your family.

After retiring from football, Dr. DeWitt earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Los Angeles Chiropractic College. His friend’s premature passing has inspired Dr. DeWitt to learn all he can about concussions and CTE. His ultimate goal is to have a clinic where those suffering with PTSD, CTE and Concussions can come to get treatment via nutritional advice, mental health counselling and chiropractic care as well as a place for the families of those suffering to get the assistance they need as well. Business Coaching with Join Up Dots

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is an ex- American footballer, who after twelve years as a professional was in an amazing place. He played for the Houston Oilers, NFL Europe Scottish Claymores, CFL Montreal Alouettes, XFL San Francisco Demons and even the AFL. The reason he was in an amazing place, was due to the fact, once he retired as a professional he realised that he had gained an amazing insight into professional sports trauma. He had seen, and experienced the devastating effects of TBI and concussions, and knew that there was a path to transition into away from the game And that is a bridge that so many sportsman struggle with. You put your heart and soul into creating the dream life that the majority of boys crave, and then what do you do when that short career is over. Well our guest got his Doctor of Chiropractic degree as well as certifications in Advanced Sports Nutrition and Concussion Assessment and ever since the movie, Concussion, came out… he made it his mission to NOT end up like my grandfather, who died from advanced dementia at 72. He has written a book, created a web class and plan on coming out with a line of supplements all to help us be healthy in mind and brain. So its all very well having insider knowledge, but how do you turn this into a profitable business that people want and need? And is there a quick fix for head injuries? Or is it a simple case of trying our hardest not to get them in the first place? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr John DeWitt Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with John DeWitt such as: How he managed to get off the grid and disconnect from his business, and why he found that it was a bigger struggle than he imagined. Why John was quite happy to walk away from the American Football pitch even though it was such a big part of his life. and lastly…. How he transitioned from the sports arena to the entrepreneurial world, and the steps he took to create his new life.
