So there's a new coffee place up on Mountain View near Hover, Sandy's (SandΨ's). Some people call it “cute” or “vibey,” others call it “magical,” or “witchy.” (OK, those last two descriptions came from the owners, David and Nikki). After talking with them, I'd use the words “thoughtfully eclectic.” Listen to the show, and check the place out. Then, write to tell us your words for the place. In addition to SandΨ's, they also talk about renovating a duplex, owning part of a canning operation, and raising a son… all at the same time. PS: ALERT: WINCHELL'S NEWS

(First, apologies for the sound issues at the beginning... it gets better, promise.) You ever ask yourself, “Self, how do I meet people?” If you do, you're not alone, though you're kind of a weirdo for saying “Self,” like that. Sorry, we didn't mean to call you out. It's OK, weirder things. Anyway, lots of people struggle to find new people to talk to. Social groups tend to gather around a hobby or around a bar. But that doesn't always work. It's possible to enjoy something but not enjoy others who enjoy that thing. Is there a thing you like? Do people who like that thing tend to get a bad rap? And, does it get that rap for good reason? Hey, we get it. Brady plays video games. So maybe your hobby doesn't work - so what then? Well, Jorge says you can always go walking. Yeah, walking, and he makes a convincing argument, because it's just kinda easier to open up and chat while you're moving. So, go take a hike. You know… like the tool (a scythe is basically a long handle with a curved blade at the end). Scythes were like the very first lawn mower. You swing that curved blade parallel to the earth, and voila, grass haircut. Scythes dominated for THOUSANDS of years. Then I guess at some point this really grim dude stole all of them and we had to start making ACTUAL lawnmowers. I don't know how it all went down, but I guess Edwin Beard Budding got involved. But time is a flat circle or something, because here we are in the 21st century, and buddy, a Scythe (/saɪð/) is once again the very, uh, cutting edge of mowing technology. We're talking automated and battery operated. You want to know what the hell I'm talking about? Well are you are in luck! That's right, this is just buzz  - no interview. And we think BUZZCUT is very appropriate because our special guest this week is Allison McIntosh from Scythe Robotics - a Longmont company that makes some extremely high tech, automated mowers. It'll be on the ballot, which makes it oddly political for this little show. Well--it's not political in the way that things are political on Twitter or X or whatever its called these days, but it's downright heated for us. Maybe that marks a bit of a sea change for us. Wait, was there a sea change / key change pun in there somewhere? Probably! Oh, we also talk about Longmont. Kind of a lot happened in town, so that part is also kinda neat. GO LISTEN! Thanks to Andy Eppler and David Cutter Music for our intro and outro music.

Sidedish is sifting through heaps of garbage this week. Like, really. Normally we try not to be quite so trashy, but when your guest is AS GREEN as Bridget Johnson it just kind of happens. Bridget operates Green Girl Recycling and is absolutely crazy about waste diversion and recycling. She's an engaging ball of pure energy who talks about the comfort factor of mattresses, data security, and selling TVs by the pound. Oh, and she won't stop talking about bottles and cans. Speaking of, Brady can't believe she doesn't know the 1996 classic hit, “Where It's At,” by Beck. Thanks to Andy Eppler and David Cutter Music for our intro and outro music! Today, Annie and Brady wonder about carpet cleaning. How targeted do they make cleaning agents? Do they include some of the lesser-thought-of bodily fluids? Also, are carpet cleaners dramatically underpaid? Oh and we actually talk about Longmont from time to time, too. Thanks for Andy Eppler and David Cutter Music for our intro and outro music. You Ready For Some Football?

Because we hear there's going to be some football. Meaning, there will be football in Boulder. It seems like kind of a big deal and people are worried about traffic. We bring it up because we hear the coach, "Mr. Prime," bought a house in Longmont. Or, at least the house is near Longmont so the news seems relevant. Don't worry, Brady's not trying to find out where this guy lives or be weird. But as you can tell this podcast will dive deep into the rivalry and legend of college ball. Also, Annie likes going to the office and she tells you why. And some other closings and openings, per usual. Thank you to Addy Eppler and David Cutter Music for our intro and outro music!

This week Annie and Brady explore Longmont's JUICIEST news! Seriously, this podcast has never been juicier, not even when we mention that seafood place - you know... the one with "juicy" in its name. It might have something to do with the guest Robyn Knowlan, owner of one of Longmont's newest (healthiest) beverage bars - Wonder Press! Join us for for all the (juicy) details and for a healthy amount of sophomoric giggling. Thanks for Andy Eppler and David Cutter Music for our intro and outro music!

This week, Annie and Brady learn that Longmont has a real contender in the 2023 USA Mullet Championship. Come to think of it, this week Annie and Brady learn that the 2023 Mullet Championship is even a thing. Also, there's some WONDERFULLY JUICY news about the (former!) Ziggy's location on Francis. And then there's the cultural phenomenon that is BARBENHEIMER. What even is it? Why even is it? Who knows, man. Completely unrelated, this week's vocabulary word is “portmanteau.” Thanks to Andy Eppler and David Cutter Music for our intro and outro music!
