Lexacom began as a simple audio recorder program created by former GP , Dr Andrew Whiteley, originally devised to save time by sending recordings across a network to a secretary. Over two decades, the company has grown organically, serving over 60% of GPs with its digital dictation, transcription, and speech-recognition solutions. In this episode, Dr. Whiteley describes how this developed. Lexacom is now expanding its feature set beyond traditional dictation, focusing on secure cloud-hosted platforms, sophisticated speech-recognition designed for medical terms, and dynamic workflows that tailor letters, reports, and consultation notes to individual practices. A key new focus is the integration of ambient AI, which captures and processes everything said during a GP consultation, then automatically produces a structured note. This enables clinicians to focus on patients rather than data entry. Additional modes can transform dictated text into patient-friendly wording or code it into existing clinical systems. Dr. Whiteley emphasizes patient confidentiality and data security, noting that all data remains encrypted on UK-based servers. The latest version of Lexacom also offers mobile app functionality for home visits, offline work, and seamless syncing, reflecting the company's continued commitment to developing efficient, user-driven solutions for clinicians. In this episode of The Bookkeepers' Podcast, Zoe Whitman is joined by Max Whiteley from Dext to discuss Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD for IT). With the rollout set for April 2026, many bookkeepers and accountants are still unsure about what it means for them and their clients. Max breaks down the key changes, what bookkeepers need to be doing now to prepare, and how technology like Dext Solo can make the process more efficient. The conversation also delves into pricing strategies for MTD, how to help clients transition smoothly, and why this is a huge opportunity for bookkeepers to position themselves as experts in the field. You Will Learn: ✅ What MTD for IT means and who it applies to. ✅ Key dates and deadlines to be aware of. ✅ Why bookkeepers should start preparing now. ✅ How to introduce Dext Solo to clients. ✅ Why pricing correctly is essential to avoid undercharging. ✅ How MTD can help bookkeepers provide more value to clients. ✅ Strategies to position yourself as an MTD expert and win new business. Key Takeaways: MTD for IT is happening – The first mandated group (sole traders and landlords earning £50k+) must comply from April 2026. Quarterly submissions will replace annual tax returns – This means 5 filings per year instead of 1. Bookkeepers need to act now – The best time to start transitioning clients is before the 2025/26 tax year. Dext Solo is a cost-effective solution – At just £2.50 per client per month, it provides an easy way for clients to submit records in real time. Don't undercharge for MTD – With more filings and client interactions, pricing must reflect the increased workload. MTD is a huge opportunity – Bookkeepers who educate clients and offer proactive support will stand out and win more business. Work With Us

Perhaps humanity has yet to develop the necessary tools to truly process and communicate experiences with UAP and Non-Human Intelligence. If these experiences exist beyond the limits of human perception and language, how can others relate, empathize, and create a space for understanding? When the words don't exist, and the event defies comprehension, how do we bridge that gap? Listening and believing are crucial first steps—but how do we move beyond them? What new forms of communication, interpretation, or even cultural evolution might be needed to truly engage with these phenomena? Iya Whiteley PH.D is a Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive and Human Factors Engineer, she's dedicated her career to understanding how pilots and astronauts process information rapidly in high-stress environments, ultimately aiming to enhance situational awareness for improved safety in aviation. Women are responsible for only 10 per cent of homicides in Australia, Canada, England, and the US, and because it’s such a small sample size not much research has been done into the motives and behaviours that drive female killers. Dr. Kathryn M. Whiteley, a feminist criminologist, has been researching women who kill for over 20 years. She’s spoken to hundreds of women behind bars, many of whom are serving life sentences with no chance of parole. Dr. Whiteley’s focus is on telling their stories and understanding their experiences and perspectives in their own words. Welcome to another episode of Category Visionaries — the show that explores GTM stories from tech's most innovative B2B founders. In today's episode, we're speaking with Robert Whiteley, CEO at Coder, a cutting-edge developer tool that has raised $85 Million in funding. Here are the most interesting points from our conversation: The Transition to CEO: Robert discusses his journey from CMO to CEO, emphasizing how his experience in data-driven marketing and operational roles prepared him for the top position at Coder. Insights from Analyst Firms: Robert provides an insider's perspective on working with analyst firms like Forrester and Gartner, explaining how they can help validate market needs and guide product development. Analyst Relations Strategy: He advises that engaging with analysts early, even when your message is not fully refined, can be more beneficial than waiting until you have a polished product. Balancing Analyst Focus: Robert suggests that tech companies should tailor their approach to analysts based on their target market, with a focus on traditional firms for enterprise sales and a broader, volume-based strategy for mid-market and consumer-focused companies. Developer Productivity Challenge: He highlights the core mission of Coder, which is to significantly increase the time developers spend writing code by reducing the friction in their development environments. Category Creation vs. Category Adoption: Robert shares his perspective on category creation, noting that while creating a new category can be advantageous, it requires significant investment and effort. He prefers to compete in established categories and differentiate Coder's offerings. // Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co

The mortar landed at his feet, shredding his leg and torso. Despite immediate medical care, he died twice on the helicopter during medical evacuation. He spent a week in a coma. He was told he would never walk again. This was 12 years ago in Basra, Iraq. In August, he competed in his second CrossFit Games finals. Meet Spencer Whiteley, the British Army Veteran who walked into a CrossFit gym on cane over a decade ago with no plan except to find a way to walk . Spencer joined Fran Racioppi and Jessie Graff from the US Army Fitness Truck at 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games just after his competition ended to share his story of combat, loss, resilience, perseverance and grit. Performing at our best often requires perspective and the ability to stack small wins day in and day out towards our goal. Spencer shows us how our approach to training and life is based on seizing opportunities, overcoming physical and mental limitations, and balancing our training mindset with ripping our shirt off and competing to win in some small way each day. Rebecca Whiteley's book Birth Figures: Early Modern Prints and the Pregnant Body (University of Chicago Press, 2023) is first full study of “birth figures” and their place in early modern knowledge-making. Birth figures are printed images of the pregnant womb, always shown in series, that depict the variety of ways in which a fetus can present for birth. Historian Rebecca Whiteley coined the term and here offers the first systematic analysis of the images' creation, use, and impact. Whiteley reveals their origins in ancient medicine and explores their inclusion in many medieval gynecological manuscripts, focusing on their explosion in printed midwifery and surgical books in Western Europe from the mid-sixteenth to the mid-eighteenth century. During this period, birth figures formed a key part of the visual culture of medicine and midwifery and were widely produced. They reflected and shaped how the pregnant body was known and treated. And by providing crucial bodily knowledge to midwives and surgeons, birth figures were also deeply entangled with wider cultural preoccupations with generation and creativity, female power and agency, knowledge and its dissemination, and even the condition of the human in the universe. Birth Figures studies how different kinds of people understood childbirth and engaged with midwifery manuals, from learned physicians to midwives to illiterate listeners. Rich and detailed, this vital history reveals the importance of birth figures in how midwifery was practiced and in how people, both medical professionals and lay readers, envisioned and understood the mysterious state of pregnancy. Christina was born an entrepreneur and is a huge advocate for multiple streams of income. For years she owned and operated a salon and onsite wedding business. Originally from BC, Canada, she and her family currently reside in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Christina continues to use her influence, through public speaking, and social media to share valuable business building ideas and inspiration. She strives to empower other moms, just like her, to follow their passion and live a life that will inspire their kids and make them proud. Her financial success has provided her the opportunity to lead a philanthropic lifestyle in a big way, and make an impact in her community. She is a best selling author of “Women Let's Rise” and has spoken in front of thousands, inspiring them to live life on their terms and overcome the obstacles and self limiting beliefs that are holding them back. Through her brand, Life Transformed, she also runs an exclusive Mastermind - The 6 Figure Profit Plan - which helps women break through 6 figures in their online business, while learning to hone their skills, show up boldly with their brands, and use systems to create an income around their dream lifestyle without burning out.
