Learn how to JournalSpeak ➡️ LEARN HOW: https://tinyurl.com/2ph33u2s In today's episode, I sit down with Deb Malkin to explore what it truly means to reclaim your body, your agency, and your sense of safety from the inside out. Deb's story of overcoming years of debilitating knee pain isn't just about symptoms resolving—it's about a paradigm shift. We talk about what happens when you stop assuming your body is broken, and instead begin listening to it, partnering with it, and seeing it as a safe place to return to. Deb learned to align with her body rather than fight it, and the result was profound physical and emotional transformation. We also dive into internalized weight stigma, body image, and the external pressures that shape how we view ourselves. Deb brings so much clarity around the harm of cultural narratives that tell us our bodies must look a certain way to be worthy or healthy. We talk about how those beliefs create nervous system activation, fear, shame, and pain—and how shifting into compassion, curiosity, and trust becomes its own form of healing. This conversation isn't just about knee pain. It's about liberation, empowerment, and remembering that your body is not a problem to fix—it's home. Would you rather play the Chargers, Bills, Jaguars, or Texans? Should the Penguins trade Tristan Jarry and bring up Sergei Murashov? Evgeni Malkin and Blake Lizotte are going on IR.
In this episode, Lisa and Andrea discuss:Navigating family dynamics when college students return home for holidays and extended breaksBalancing student independence with household expectations during time at homeCommunicating effectively with teens and college students to reduce conflict around schedules, curfews, and responsibilitiesSupporting student identity development and deeper conversations during the transition homeKey Takeaways: Parents should set expectations early—before the student comes home—about rest needs, schedules, and non-negotiable family commitments.Curfew conversations work best when approached collaboratively, using “horizontal parenting” to negotiate reasonable times and communication.Students may return with new beliefs, identities, and peer relationships, so families should create space for deeper conversations and respond with curiosity rather than judgment.Parents should avoid tasks like laundry or over-caretaking, as these can unintentionally undermine the student's developing independence. “Colleges are ready to welcome messy, unfinished, unbaked, totally underbaked students. And those first couple of years are about figuring out who they are.” – Andrea Malkin BrennerAbout Andrea Malkin Brenner: Dr. Andrea Malkin Brenner is the President of AMBrenner, LLC and Founder of the Talking College™ brand, a speaker and college transition educator with 25 years as a “college insider.”Episode References:Use Andrea's Talking College Cards to spark meaningful family conversations about college transitions: https://www.ambrenner.com/shopSubscribe to Lisa's newsletter for weekly tips to connect with your teen or young adult: flourishcoachingco.com/newsletterGet Lisa's Free on-demand video: How-to guide for your teen to choose the right major, college, & career...(without painting themselves into a corner, missing crucial deadlines, or risking choices you both regret). flourishcoachingco.com/video Connect with Andrea:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/andreamalkinbrenner/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ambrennerllcWebsite: https://www.ambrenner.com/ & https://talkingcollege.com/Book: How to College: What to Know Before You Go (and When You're There) by Andrea Malkin Brenner and Lara Hope Schwartz: https://www.amazon.com/How-College-Before-Youre-There/dp/1250225183LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrea-malkin-brenner-phd-135b43178Email: andreamalkinbrenner@gmail.com Connect with Lisa:Website: https://www.flourishcoachingco.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@flourishcoachingcoFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/flourishcoachingco/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/flourishcoachingco/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/flourish-coaching-co

Episode SummaryErin and Rachel hop on down to 1920's New Orleans, where Disney's first Black princess spends most of her time as a frog in the Louisiana bayou. The Princess and the Frog (2010) provided much needed representation, but leaves a lot to be desired in terms of its race, class, and gender politics. Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. The guys asked TK why he doesn't go on the Morning Show, but he's present on the others. Tyler said the weirdest guy he played hockey with was Brent Burns – sighting the extensive reptile collection and the quirky things he'd do. How many players are more superstitious than Sidney Crosby? There are reports that Evgeni Malkin will have a sit-down with Kyle Dubas to discuss future options, which could mean more Geno in a Penguins uniform.

In this episode, Brook Olsen is joined once again by Dr. Craig Malkin, author of Rethinking Narcissism, to explore the lesser-known counterpart to narcissism: echoism. Through the lens of Greek mythology and modern psychology, they unpack how those who fear being “too much” often find themselves entangled in toxic dynamics with narcissistic partners. Dr. Malkin explains how echoism—marked by self-silencing, people-pleasing, and a fear of taking up space—is a survival response rooted in early family systems. Together, they discuss how cultivating healthy anger, reclaiming agency, and practicing mindful disengagement can break the cycle of negative intimacy and lead to lasting change. A must-listen for anyone navigating high-conflict relationships or healing from emotionally abusive dynamics. Matt Cooke said it was very important to know where opponents were on the ice to avoid an injury. Shawn Thornton is the toughest guy Cooke has ever fought. There was a wanted poster in a Boston newspaper with Matt Cooke's face on it and three security guys had to help protect him. Cooke wanted to make sure nothing happened to Sid or Geno.
Hour 1 with Joe Starkey and Tyler Kennedy: Stanley Cup Champion Matt Cooke joined the show! Cooke is the GM and head coach of the Vernon Vipers in junior hockey in British Columbia. The Jordan Staal, Matt Cooke, Tyler Kennedy line was a line that controlled games when they were on the ice and Staal was huge for the line scoring. Cooke wanted to make sure nothing happened to Sid or Geno. Cooke explains the differences between playing with Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby.
Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. TK said he would sign up for the Penguins being the worst team in hockey if it meant Gavin McKenna was on the roster this time next year. Is it more beneficial for McKenna to play in college, like he's doing at Penn State, or junior hockey? Tyler thinks we will be pleasantly surprised by how this team performs this season, giving credit to Dan Muse for a different voice in charge. TK believes multiple stars will be on the move at the trade deadline – Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell. He thinks Geno would be willing to waive his no-movement clause to play for the Florida Panthers.
In 2005, the Penguins assembled a team of veteran superstars, young talent, and a can't miss rookie phenom named Sidney Crosby. They called this elite group the "X Force", and their mission was to lay waste to the rest of the NHL and capture the franchise's third Stanley Cup. However, things did not exactly go according to plan, and the X Force quickly became one of the biggest disasters in Pittsburgh sports history. Yet out of the ashes of this failed experiment, the franchise was able to build something special.REWIND is a series of our favorite Pittsburgh Sports Memories episodes that we will be dropping in between new episodesGet our Steelers-Ravens book here! Max said he gets asked more about the two goals in Game 7 to win the Stanley Cup Final than the shhhh move against the Flyers. Max said you can't read much into the Sidney Crosby rumors to another team. Max said maybe the team won't play that well, but there's still a chance to watch Crosby, Malkin, and Letang should be a driving force for people to go to the rink.
In this edition of NHL Wraparound's Summer Coolers, Neil Smith and Vic Morren dive into one of the NHL's most iconic yet most uncertain franchises: the Pittsburgh Penguins. For the fourth straight season, the Penguins look like they'll miss the playoffs—despite having Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Erik Karlsson still on the roster. With rookie head coach Dan Muse taking the reins from Mike Sullivan (now in New York), the team seems more focused on riding out legacies than chasing another Stanley Cup.Is this the year that Crosby finally waves the towel and requests a trade?

Installment 2 of the 2025 Summer Cooler Series as Vic and Neil examine the off-season moves in the Metropolitan Division.IN THIS EPISODE[03:29] - Washington Capitals - From barely making the post-season in 2024 to the top regular season team in the East, can many who had career seasons stage an encore?[12:23] - Carolina Hurricanes - Do two significant off-season acquisitions make the Hurricanes any more of a threat to escape the East?[24:20] - New Jersey Devils - With Jack Hughes and Dougie Hamilton returning healthy, the might be the club that sneaks up on Washington and Carolina for one of the top two spots in the division.[30:45] - Columbus Blue Jackets - A new identity was forged after the tragic death of Johnny Gaudreau a year ago. The ability to sustain that identity over 82 games will be necessary in order to crack the playoff lineup next spring.[40:09] - New York Rangers - From Presidents' Trophy winners to fractured franchise, the Broadway Blueshirts start anew with Mike Sullivan taking over behind the bench.[50:03] - New York Islanders - A playoff team in 2024, the Isles missed out last season, switched GM's and have seen players move in and out of the organization during the summer. Though likely to be competitive, the future may be brighter than the present for this group.[1:00:58] - Pittsburgh Penguins - The good news is first time NHL head coach Dan Muse has the likes of Crosby, Malkin and Letang to work with. The downside: aside from a few that will support the trio, the future doesn't look favorable in the Steel City.[1:09:34] - Philadelphia Flyers - Former Flyer and a year removed from the Jack Adams Award, Rick Tocchet takes over behind the bench with some pieces which should be maturing into bona fide NHL talents. But will that goaltending ever come around?X: https://twitter.com/NHLWraparoundNeil Smith: https://twitter.com/NYCNeilVic Morren: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vic-morren-7038737/NHL Wraparound Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/nhlwraparound/#NHLWraparound #ShortShifts #NYCentric #StanleyCupdate #NeilSmith #VicMorren #NHL #SummerCoolers #Loogaroo #AnaheimDucks # #BostonBruins #BuffaloSabres #CalgaryFlames #CarolinaHurricanes #ChicagoBlackhawks #ColoradoAvalanche #ColumbusBlueJackets #DallasStars #DetroitRedWings #EdmontonOilers #FloridaPanthers #LosAngelesKings #MinnesotaWild #MontrealCanadiens #NashvillePredators #NewJerseyDevils #NewYorkIslanders #NewYorkRangers #OttawaSenators #PhiladelphiaFlyers #PittsburghPenguins #StLouisBlues #SanJoseSharks #SeattleKraken #TampaBayLightning #TorontoMapleLeafs #UtahMammoth #VancouverCanucks #VegasGoldenKnights #WashingtonCapitals #WinnipegJets #AnthonyBeauvillier #HendrixLapierre #AndrewMangiapane #TaylorRaddysh #LarsEller #AlexanderAlexeyev #TJOshie #NicklasBackstrom #MartinFehervary #SpencerCarbery #DylanStrome #AliakseiProtas #TomWilson #ConnorMcMichael #PierreLuc-Dubois #JakobChychrun #NicDowd #LoganThompson #AlexOvechkin #WayneGretzky #RyanLeonard #JohnCarlson #K'AndreMiller #NikolajEhlers #SebastianAho #AndreiSvechnikov #SethJarvis #JacksonBlake #TaylorHall #JordanMartinook #LoganStankoven #JordanStaal #K'AndreMiller #ScottMorrow #MikeReilly #CaydenPrimeau #SkylerBrind'Amour #FrederikAndersen #EricRobinson #RyanSuzuki #RodBrind'Amour #KeithPrimeau #BrentBurns #DmitryOrlov #PyotrKochetkov #AlexanderNikishin #JaccobSlavin #JalenChatfield #ShayneGostisbehere #SeanWalker #EricTulsky #TomFitzgerald #JeremyHanzel #ErikHaula #ConnorBrown #EvgeniiDadonov #StanBowman #PeterDeBoer #JackHughes #DougieHamilton #JakeAllen #CodyGlass #BrianDumoulin #CurtisLazar #NathanBastian #NicoHischier #JesperBratt #OndrejPalat #TimoMeier #StefanNoesen #DawsonMercer #BrendenDillon #LukeHughes #BrettPesce #JonasSiegenthaler #SimonNemec #JacobMarkstrom #CharlieCoyle #MilesWood #GavinBrindley #HudsonFasching #IvanProvorov #DanteFabbro #OwenSillinger #DmitriVoronkov...

When World War II ended, SS officer Adolf Eichmann disappeared. As a key organizer of Nazi Germany's Final Solution, the genocidal program that murdered 6 million European Jews, Eichmann became one of the most hunted men on earth. For 15 years, he remained hidden. But in 1957, through the efforts of a West German lawyer, a blind man, and Israeli intelligence, Eichmann's trail was found, leading to Buenos Aires, Argentina… SOURCES: Arendt, Hannah. It was reported that Evgeni Malkin will be playing his last year as a Pittsburgh Penguin. Poni says thank you for the years of service and championships, but it is okay that the Penguins want to move on. Poni says it won't make him sick to see him in another jersey.
Rob Rossi joins the program. What does Rob think about the Josh Yohe report about Malkin leaving Pittsburgh after this season. He says that not only will Malkin leave, but so will Alex Ovechkin back to Russia.
