The best and worst of planet Earth reviewed by people with broken brains.
Alessia tries to impart some Italian language onto Todd and only ends up teaching him the dirty words. Our Guess Who Reviews this week are equally Italian themed, with shonky deals and cunnies running some of Italy’s finest establishments.
In this week’s episode we examine the televisual institutions that shaped our childhoods. We also hear from some severely disgruntled customers in our new segment “Guess Who Review”. ~~~
We started 2021 by rating the top 10 songs from Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown. We also introduce a new segment called Guess Who Review, where one of us guesses which foul corner of the internet people shrieked their grievances from this week.~~~
For our 25th and final episode of this year of our COVID 2020, we reviewed the Christmas movie Santa Girl (2019), a fantastic example of what not to do when making a film. We took a deep dive into the movie's wardrobe, makeup, plot (or lack thereof) as well as special effects, the cast and their “acting” skills and, well...hear the rest for yourself. This is another in our series of ~under the influence~ episodes. Merry Chrimmus!~~~
This episode we examine the world of game designer Robert Yang and his eccentric queer-art-imitating-life creations. We play and review Cobra Club, a dick pic swapping simulator and Hard Lads...a video game re-imagining of the enigmatic viral video ‘British lads hit each other with chair’. See more of Robert’s work here: https://radiatoryang.itch.io/~~~
In this week’s listener requested review, we rate various dog breeds from fug pugs to long boys and ~exotic~ international breeds while discussing dog-appropriate names. Also, there’s some cougar action in the peanut gallery.~~~
This week we went wimp skydiving (aka paid a visit to iFly), an indoor high speed skydiving death tube. Between flying spit and flailing like limp dolls in a twister, we experienced enough accidental crotch grabs and stale wind tunnel air to last us a lifetime.~~~
*Content warning: graphic descriptions*We’re back! After a short hiatus, we recount horrific and hilarious first and second-hand hospital stories. Todd ends up in hell. Alessia can’t stop screaming. We discuss how fortunate we are to have a good and free healthcare system, even if some fat racist bogan is shitting himself in the bed next to you. Ahh it’s good to be back.~~~
This week we introduce a special episode format: we review things under the influence! Starting with the Republican National Convention, we give a thorough roasting to the speakers - namely Tiffany Trump, some white kid who once wore a MAGA hat and of course Melania and her vunderful huuuuuusband. Strap in and be ready to adjust your volume accordingly, this one’s a real scream.~~~
Renting: it’s a whole nightmare genre in and of itself. This week we recount hellish tales of the druggo, dodgy carpet and wrong-person-wrong-house kind. ~~~
We went tomahawk and hatchet throwing and tried to not axe-identally “dismember” each other. Plus, Alessia has a good old rant about tree stumps and we encounter Mama Shamira’s miracle work in the Peanut Gallery.~~~
We went Randonauting, the latest online craze leading TikTok teens to dead bodies! Tune in for what we found, or rather experienced - a strange set of coincidences, dog shit, and a lot of Horny by Mousse T. We also chat about what we’re watching at the moment - glue up your ducts before you see Call Me By Your Name (2017), we’re warning you.~~~You can now Suggest A Topic for us to review! This week we cover a lot of ground on the fucked tattoo front! Join us as we wade through interesting choices of spelling, genitals, cute but crude drawings, demands to be paid and lifelong burger affinities. What fun! We also hear from some absolute cat AFICIONADOS in the peanut gallery. Just another week at TBQFH HQ.~~~You can now Suggest A Topic for us to review! This week we decided to visit a witch to hear what the tarot had to say about our futures, careers, love lives, and everything in between. We discuss our inherent stardust natures, what heaven and hell really look like, and have a laff at the expense of certain chatty Cathy spirits. ~~~You can now Suggest A Topic for us to review! In a bid to educate ourselves on Australia’s racist past (and present), we heap shit on the COLONial statues who heaped shit on the traditional owners of this here land and cancel them to oblivion. We wanted to draw attention to this issue in light of the absolute legends pulling down statues all over the world fuelled by the George Floyd protests and Black Lives Matter movement. This week we delve into the worlds of David Lynch and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, surrealist and master of joy in their respective filmmaking endeavours. We each made the other watch an all-time favourite movie: Mulholland Drive for Alessia and Amélie for Todd, and the verdicts are a bloody scream. We also misremember key details about television shows from our childhood and Todd is highly amused by Alessia's recollection of Mcleod's Daughters.~~~You can now Suggest A Topic for us to review! This week we review a number of bizarre celebrity baby names and discuss our own preferences for naming new people (offending hundreds in the process). We also divulge the extremely regular, commonplace pronunciation of 'X Æ A-12'; Grimes and Elon Musk’s new bundle of joy. This week we get cosy with Bae: a reported hangover saver and all-round Korean miracle cure pear juice. We go to sleep with Bae, wake up with Bae and we’re happy to report: you’ll have to hear about our verdicts in the episode. We also introduce our sanity saving recommendation of the week: Money Heist on Netflix! This week we review a number of “fun” social isolation activities, like jigsaw puzzles and everyone’s extremely interesting at-home workout routines. We’re also traumatised by movies, get called lovely names such as “pregnant” by our neighbours and throw it back to 2003 during the presh time of chain mails with demon people who’ll haunt you for not clicking ‘FWD’. This week we did something a little different and revisited the events of our last two episodes to give more insight into what went down. We play director’s commentary as we bring you Countess Chesterfield from the Toowong Cemetery Brisbane Ghost Tours episode, and more Colin the Questioner from our UFO Research Queensland meetup episode. This episode on the TBQFH Files, we attend a UFO Research Queensland meetup and have some close encounters with eccentric-terrestrials. We examine many mysteries; such as why a photo of a hubcap may be a spaceship, which humans insectoid aliens choose to breed with, and who is involved in the troublesome Intergalactic Federation. This episode we went ghost huntin’ in Toowong Cemetery - one of Brisbane’s oldest graveyards. We met a possible vampire who regaled us with spooky stories of moving statues, naked satanists and other macabre stuff before trying to make us summon the Angel of Death! Fun! We hear from a *cough* special *wheeze, choke* Peanut Gallery on none other than our recent global medical trend: Coronavirus. This week we’re asking: “is this gluten froooii?” as we rate, hate and sedate a selection of gluten free products. In the Peanut Gallery, we poke our heads into the Coeliac Disease Support Group of Victoria and hear a haiku about Woolworths’ “fresh ness”. This week we provide our hot takes on FOMO 2020 - the music festival with one stage, no clashes, and most importantly - Lizzo. Alessia tries to start a fight with one of the performers on Instagram after nearly dying in the mosh pit and Todd learns he doesn’t have the patience for fellow turnt festival-goers despite being crunk himself. We also introduce our new Peanut Gallery format (#pray4Mandy #justice4Lovey). For our Cats (2019) episode, we challenge ourselves to sit through the entire film without retching. We scratch the surface of this deeply confusing cinematic experience, attempting to decipher why 'Jellicle' cats are so named, what exactly the Heaviside Layer is, and why some cats have nip nops and others don’t (v. disconcerting). Plus, the Peanut Gallery reveals they have no sense of humour when it comes to our review on the “grand” opening of a new neighbourhood cinema in Brisbane’s Red Hill. In our second episode, we dredge up the worst new year's resolutions we can find from the darkest recesses of the internet and laugh at them. We also discuss our favourite memes of 2019, and the Peanut Gallery gives us their thoughts on the apparently beloved Russian singer, Vitas.
