"Hot Boyz" is a duo hip hop/rap group consisting of DvNeHppy and JG. DvNeHppy hails from southern Louisiana and JG from Denver, the two meeting when they "opened" for rapper Twista in 2022; Twista was a no show, so the two performed anyway and were dazzled by each other's sets. The two began collaborating not long after, even starting their own respective production companies all the while: W.O.A.H Network by DvNe, and Prolific Posse by JG. Hot Boyz is always trying new things and making their money's worth as independent artists. They want to make music that they want to listen to, and if they gain an audience through that, it's just a bonus. Hot Boyz works hard at the events they play at, saying they're like art curations, providing people with experience they won't forget. They find inspiration from artists like Childish Gambino, KAYTRANADA, Potatohead People, Kendrick Lamar, and many more artists. Opening for their first sold-out show with Soulja Boy on April 17th, DvNeHppy and JG are prepared to show you what they can do. Hot Boyz will also play at FoCoMX at Wolverine Farm at 11pm on April 18th, and are playing The Black Buzzard in Denver on May 23rd.

How am I 50???? Well I am, and I celebrated in Miami, including djing several happy hour sets at Better Days...where they give me the musical freedom to record mixes like this! (Thank you Will and team) The first half starts off chill, a little lovers rock remixes, lots of rn'b, 90's hip hop, some old school and retro (you know me, nice and eclectic - hell, I start with a slow Adele song!) and then gets into some old school / retro and even a nostalgic freestyle set, reminiscent of my youthful March Break trips to Miami, listening to Power 96! Then the 2nd half I'm starting to build up the energy with some indie dance, then into some retro remixes, into house remixes of hip hop, into a throwback 90's hip hop set. (Ignore the fader cut outs in The City Is Mine near the end, DJ Spiff had just pulled up to the booth to head on after me, and the Brooklyn in him couldn't be held back lol!). Thank you for continuing to keep listening to this old man's mixes. Hope you enjoy this one!Subscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_meBookings & Merch: jamiewichartz @ yahoo.ca

I know I'm still horribly behind on the monthly mixes here on Podomatic (you can stream the newer ones on Mixcloud ;-) but figured it made sense for the holiday season to jump ahead and post my "A Soul Shack Christmas (aka "Christmas Cocktails 2024)" mix, so it can be enjoyed over the holidays.I really didn't think I was going to be able to make a 2024 edition, but determined, I found a way! I recorded about 2hrs in my headphones on a 2nd setup during dinner at Alexie's winter formal Thursday night, then about 1.5hrs of the mix that I knew I could get away with at my gig at STK Friday night, then Saturday morning recorded the other hour or so, and then put it all together!Knowing I wasn't recording it live, this one musically is more like a "Soul Shack Christmas" really and is definitely more for people my age (so much retro!). I'm really happy with this year's edition, but listen for yourself.I truly hope this mix bring a little extra joy to your holidays, soundtracks special moments with friends & family and I hope you all stay healthy & safe this holiday season.IG: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_meSubscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245

Ugh, I'm so behind on posting mixes on Podomatic. Please note that I'm up to date on Mixcloud if you want to listen to the new mixes (while I catch up here)Here is my annual lounge music recap from the past year. Usually it's the February mix, but this year I'm a month behind because the 18yr Anniversary mix got pushed to January, and the house recap became February. Anyway, this is all the non-house stuff, filled with nudisco, daytime disco, amapiano, kaytranada type beats, retro remixes, boogie edits, rn'b, hip hop...all the good stuff (and then some "end of the night" vibes to finish it off). Not all necessarily released in 2023, but I discovered the songs in 2023.So fix yourself a drink, sit back and enjoy the vibes (or lets be real, throw it on in the background while working or doing your household chores lol!)Subscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_meBookings & Merch: jamiewichartz @ yahoo.ca
