A podcast that delves into the rich history, awesome stories, and fascinating details behind your favorite Disneyland Attractions.
The Back Side Of Water Podcast
The Backside Of Water - A Disneyland History Podcast is an incredibly enjoyable and informative podcast for Disney fans and history buffs alike. I stumbled upon this podcast about a year ago after experiencing Disney withdrawal following a trip to Disneyland, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. The hosts, Alex, Freddy, Annie, and Harrison, do a fantastic job of delving into the historical facts behind the attractions at Disneyland, making each episode a fascinating journey into the park's rich history.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the wealth of knowledge that the hosts bring to each episode. Their research is evident as they provide detailed information about the development, design, and changes made to each attraction over time. Listening to their explanations enhances my experience of visiting these attractions in person because I now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for their significance. Additionally, their love for Disneyland is infectious and it's clear that they have a genuine passion for sharing these stories with their listeners.
Furthermore, the hosts have created a fun and engaging dynamic among themselves. Their humor and wit make listening to each episode light-hearted and enjoyable. They often go off on tangents or incorporate playful story/adventure episodes that add an extra level of entertainment to the show. These moments may not always be directly related to Disneyland history but they contribute to the overall charm of the podcast.
On the downside, sometimes these tangents and story episodes can make it difficult to follow along with the main narrative or historical content. While entertaining, they can occasionally distract from the educational aspect of the podcast. Additionally, some listeners may find it bothersome that the show is scripted rather than being more conversational or spontaneous in nature. However, personally, I don't mind this approach as it ensures that each episode is well-structured and cohesive.
In conclusion, The Backside Of Water - A Disneyland History Podcast is an absolute gem for anyone interested in Disney history or simply looking for a fun and entertaining podcast. The hosts' passion, knowledge, and humor make each episode a delight to listen to. I highly recommend this podcast to all Disney fans who want to dive deep into the history of Disneyland and learn fascinating facts about their favorite attractions.

We have spent the entirety of this show following the format of each episode covering a land or attraction. And barring some holiday shenanigans and some SEA adventures, we've been extremely loyal to that format. But this episode is intended to break that mold. Annie has some big news that we need to share before we blast off and explore the outer reaches of Space Mountain, so we figured we'd take this opportunity to ditch the script and have a Disneyland centered conversation about family, memories, and legacies amongst great friends. We're so pleased with how this episode turned out and we hope you enjoy this little detour that we've taken on our way to exploring the LAST mountain of our grand circle tour.
