April is a senior developer advocate and DevOps practice lead for GitHub, specializing in application transformation and DevOps ways of working. Her focus is working on Microsoft Azure to take customers on a journey from legacy technology to serverless and containers, where code comes first, while enabling them to take full advantage of DevOps. April was previously a cloud consultant and solution architect for various partners in the UK and brings her years of experience in helping customers plan their journey. She also serves as a Hashicorp Ambassador, dedicating much of her time to working with infrastructure as code (IaC). She enjoys making Azure and its features more accessible. Her technical expertise includes PowerShell, Golang, and occasionally TypeScript and C#. In her free time, April enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and scuba diving. Additionally, she is a triathlete who competes in Ironman and Half Ironman events. [5:33] GitHub's evolution into a full end-to-end enterprise platform, with a major focus on security, scalability, and developer productivity. [6:51] Code Spaces: VS Code in the cloud with 60 hours free per user — solving compute and environment parity issues across teams. [10:00] GitHub's internal use of Code Spaces: every GitHub employee (aka “Hubber”) uses it to work on the github.com codebase. [12:29] Code Spaces' advantages in lab and hackathon settings, including speed, security, and reliability. [13:55] Breakdown of GitHub Copilot's flavors: chat, inline suggestions, edits, pull request reviews, and agentic AI. [17:12] Real-world uses of Copilot Edits: generating documentation, writing tests, and making cohesive multi-file changes. [20:00] GitHub's goal of enabling the “10x developer,” not just in speed but in quality, consistency, and creativity. [25:00] How AI tooling is changing how we think about architecture, code reuse, and shrinking monoliths into modular libraries. [30:00] Prompting strategies: how different cultures and languages impact the way developers interact with AI tools. [32:47] GitHub Workspaces: start from requirements, generate a plan, and get a head start on writing and converting code. [35:00] April's belief that AI-driven development is already here, and edits are one of the best ways to experience that transformation now. Evolutionists claim the fossil record shows an ascending ladder of life with increasing complexity, but evidence from places like the Burgess Shale in Yoho National Park contradicts this. Fossil records actually display life being more diverse and complex in the past than it is today. This aligns with the Bible's account of living things having always been complex, with no evidence of one kind of creature changing into another. In the first year of the Civil War War, the Confederacy had no navy. This caused President Jefferson Davis to take an unusual strategic step. He licensed private ships (called privateers) to sail the Confederate coastline and capture Union merchant ships and their cargos, distracting the Union's warships from their blockading efforts and disrupting the North's merchant fleet. It was a swashbuckling time of legal piracy, ocean battles, death trials, and a brilliant, life-saving negotiation by Jefferson Davis.Find the historic story here.

Come along, as Dean's chat co-hosts Drs. Jeffrey Jensen and Johanna Richey interview Dr. Robert Tim Yoho. As noted in the introduction, Dr. Yoho has "Been There, Done That" in our profession. We discuss his career, starting back to his undergraduate days, and his research opportunities that ultimately changed the way he felt about podiatric education and scholarly work as Dean of the Des Moines Univsrsity College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Undoubtedly, the highlight of this interview is the touching story of his son Nathan, daughter-in- law Laura, and his beautiful grand-daughter Caralyn, that culminated in his beautiful book, "Life After Death: The Laura and Caralyn Yoho Story." An excerpt from Amazon, "Nathan Yoho and Laura Brammeier wed in August 2011. After Laura was diagnosed with brain cancer, her best friend, Kara, volunteered to be a surrogate mother. Nathan and Laura's daughter, Caralyn, arrived in fall of 2013. In his December 20, 2013 letter to Caralyn, published in The Des Moines Register, reporter Daniel Finney wrote, "Caralyn, your mother died before you drew your first breath. That's not fair. But you will know her. Your dad has videos. Your grandparents have pictures and stories. Nobody will ever take the place of the mom you didn't get to meet. But these kind, selfless people are going to make sure you have everything your mom would have wanted you to have." https://www.amazon.com/Life-After-Death-Laura-Caralyn/dp/1977248209 Laura's legacy lives on today in Nathan's CrossFit studios - an incredible story! https://crossfitwdm.com/our-new-home-is-official/ Dr. Yoho is certainly one of Podiatric Medicine's icons; his involvement the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME), the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM), and his tenure as Dean at the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery make for a storied career. We also discuss leadership and the current state of podiatric medicine - and what he would do to enhance the profession today and going forward. A can't miss episode!
