WHO framed a classic Toontown star for murder? We're gonna find out tonight as we kick off Animation April with the classic live action/cartoon hybrid "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"
Go behind the scenes at Disney with exclusive takeaways from IAAPA's North America Summit 2025 at Disneyland Resort! Philip shares first-hand insights from Disney executives on the thoughtful redesign of Toontown and how small, intentional changes create significant guest experience improvements. Discover how Disney balances operational necessities with guest comfort through innovative solutions - from stroller parking zones to decompression spaces to mixed-and-match cast costumes that enhance storytelling. We explore why seemingly simple elements like tables, chairs, and even non-flat grassy areas faced resistance yet proved crucial for guest satisfaction. By 1970, Disneyland was not just a unique theme park business, but a well running piece of machinery. But now they had to replicate that kind of thinking to a larger stage as they opened up Walt Disney World. To better prepare for that, they had to educate everyone on how Disneyland worked. To that end, Van France, who originally created along with Dick Nunis the Disney University, wrote Art and Management of the Theme Show. This document, written originally in 1970 and then updated three years later, provides us a snippet in how the organization was ran during that time--a time that included no Big Thunder or Space Mountain, no Mickey's Toontown, no Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, no Indiana Jones Adventure, no adjoining Disney California Adventure, and not even hotels. It was just Disneyland with a parking lot in front. Still, we cover the fascinating insights that are gleaned from this document, as a way of understanding the organizational approach Disney used to create "The Happiest Place on Earth". Join us on our 493rd podcast for Disney's Art and Management of the Theme Show. ________________________________________________ My new book, A Century of Powerful Disney Insights, Volume I 1923-1973, The Walt & Roy Disney Years is available! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Let's visit Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland to ride and review Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on July 31, 2023. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we visit Disneyland to ride Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster. The Disneyland website describes this attraction by saying, “Twist and turn on a speedy coaster ride built by the inventor mouse from Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers. Riders must be 35” or taller to ride this attraction and the Thrill level describes it as being a Thrill Ride with Small Drops. Before we climb that tinker toy lift hill, here are 5 fat facts about Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster. 1. Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster officially opened with the rest of Mickey's Toontown on January 24, 1993. On opening day, the ride was called Gadget's Go Coaster. 2. Having only a 44 second duration, this roller coaster is the shortest attraction in Disneyland. 3. Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster reaches heights of 27.9ft (8.5 meters) and soars up to speeds of 21.7 mph (34.9 km/h) 4. The character of Gadget, you greets you as you travel up the lift hill, is voiced by Tress MacNeille. 5. The ride was closed for refurbishment in 2022 and when it reopened in March of 2023 it had a new name and new figures of Chip, Dale and Zipper from the show Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers. Let's go squeeze ourselves into the impossible tiny cars of Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster. Joining me the ride is John B. deHaas and After the attraction audio, we'll give you our thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recordings so if you have headphone put them on now as we experience Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster at Disneyland The attraction audio recorded for this episode is available exclusively to the Saturday Morning Media Patron Patron. In this episode, Becca and Jessica discuss the things they have changed their minds about at Disneyland Resort. They cover topics such as taking a midday break, enjoying World of Color, the Tomorrowland Lounge, using Genie Plus, park hopping, the reimagined Toontown, and the benefits of rope dropping. They emphasize that everyone's preferences and experiences may vary, and it's important to find what works best for each individual or family. Takeaways Taking a midday break can be a beneficial strategy to avoid exhaustion and enjoy Disneyland Resort. World of Color has improved with new options such as the virtual queue and dessert party. Opinions on the Tomorrowland Lounge have changed due to changes in seating and food options. Using Genie Plus is not always necessary and some families have successfully enjoyed the parks without it. Park hopping can be a cost-saving option, but it depends on personal preferences and budget. Toontown has been reimagined and offers new attractions, making it a must-visit area. Rope dropping can be a rewarding experience, even for those who initially thought it was unnecessary. It's important to be open to changing opinions and finding what works best for each individual or family at Disneyland Resort. It is good that they are able to remove some items for refurbishment and not close the attraction, but it seems like a lot at one time. – https://www.micechat.com/375030-disneyland-update-walts-wishes-third-park-theories-socal-steals/ A new breakfast option is at Smokejumpers Grill in Disney California Adventure. Out from construction walls is the fountain in the center of the land, and it is working! The fountain opened with Toontown earlier this year, but there were some issues that caused it to be reworked. – https://www.micechat.com/372513-disneyland-update-exciting-openings-maintenance-concerns-holiday-crush-pin-rules/ As with anything that Disneyland celebrates, there is merchandise. News: The Adventureland Treehouse will open later this week to the public, but Disney released a preview of the reimagined attraction online last week. The video shows the father's painting area which is wheelchair accessible and allows guests who cannot climb steps to experience the different rooms. The animatronics, audio, and overall asthetic looks amazing. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/videos/full-tour-adventureland-treehouse-at-night-disneyland-resort/ https://www.micechat.com/338868-breaking-news-disneylands-new-adventureland-treehouse-revealed/ The new bar at the Villas at the Disneyland Resort has opened to guests. The Palm Breeze Bar is colorful and fun, reminiscent of Mary Blair's designs. The food has been reported as very good, however it is on the pricier side. This could explain why a new location like this isn't as busy as other similar locations that have drawn much bigger crowds. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ With the Holiday season starting this week, the Christmas tree on Main Street has been installed. The tree towers 60 feet tall and is covered with more than 1,800 ornaments. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/11/photos-christmas-tree-arrives-on-main-street-u-s-a-at-disneyland-park-for-2023-holiday-season/ With the Holidays starting this week, there is a Holiday Foodie Guide that the Disney Parks Blog released. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/11/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-holidays-at-disneyland-resort-2023/ In addition the the regular holiday food, there is also the Festival of the Holidays Foodie Guide! {talk about the food} Maybe mention the new food segment coming in the new year? – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/11/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-disney-festival-of-holidays-2023-at-disneyland-resort/ Of course there is a TON of new holiday merch that has arrived ahead of the official holiday season this week. From ears, to spirit jerseys and everything in-between, there is truly something for everyone. – https://www.micechat.com/369082-disneyland-holiday-merchandise-2023/ A new character from the upcoming Disney movie Wish is going to be meeting and greeting at the resort soon. On November 22nd, the day of the movie premiere, she will be in front of the Royal Hall in Fantasyland. It isn't clear if she will be around beyond the one day, but we will update you once we know. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/11/asha-from-wish-arriving-at-disneyland-resort-on-november-22/ There is trouble on the waterways of the Jungle Cruise. The attraction closed abruptly last week and was closed through the weekend. Scrims have gone up around the tiger area that can be seen from the exterior portion of the Indy queue. Micechat reports that the rockwork by the tiger was crumbling and in need of repair. The attraction will hopefully reopen with this section behind scrims. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ As we reported on previously, part of Toontown have come out from behind construction walls. The fountain is the only section that was previously closed to guests that is still unavailable, and the walls moved around Goofy's How to Play Yard, and Donald's Duck Pond. November 11th should be the last day for all walls in Toontown, unless the schedule slips. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ January 7th will mark the end of Tail of the Lion King in the Fantasyland Theatre. The show ran for a little under two years, and wasn't as flashy as other shows that used this venue, but it was still a very well done, lively show. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ Discussion Topic: Adventure by Disney Trip with Josey https://www.adventuresbydisney.com/destinations/around-the-world/global-jet-adventures/ This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

News: Over at MiceChat, Dusty Sage was able to have a conversation with higher-up associated with Tiana's Bayou Adventure where he expressed his dismay at the focus on the search for a missing ingredient. If Dusty is right, there is a lot more going on with this attraction. Per his conversation, it is a sort of fake out for guests concealing the fact that they are doing a lot more with this attraction than has been announced. Massive set pieces are being installed to make this much more grand than the attraction that it is replacing. They are also spending a considerable amount on this project that they could have built an entirely new attraction. – https://www.micechat.com/371000-disneyland-update-snowfall-pumpkins-missed-opportunities/ It is possible that by the time you listen to this, the Adventureland Treehouse could be open! All of the scaffolding has been removed and the construction tape is gone. The CenTOONial Park is scheduled to reopen on October 30th, and then Goofy's How-to-Play Yard will close on the same day. Changes to this area are scheduled to wrap up and reopen to the public on November 10th. Hopefully, this will just leave Donald's Duck Pond having never been operating for guests. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/10/17/one-disney-attraction-will-reopen-soon-but-another-will-close-the-same-day/ A fun new activity is coming to the Disneyland Resort this Halloween Season. Snow has started to fall on Sleeping Beauty Castle, resulting in the Disney100 decorations disappearing before the actual anniversary, lights are going up in the trees on Main Street, and New Orleans Square is starting to have its decorations installed. – https://www.micechat.com/371000-disneyland-update-snowfall-pumpkins-missed-opportunities/ Have you ever wanted to have breakfast with Santa?
