Even the art you don't remember is important

Hey there, art-loving homeschoolers! In this week's episode we're diving deep into the importance of art, even the art we don't remember. I stumbled upon a powerful quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that really struck a chord with me. He said, "I cannot remember the books I have read any more than the meals I have eaten. Even so, they have made me." This quote inspired me to reflect on how experiencing art with our kids, even at a young age, can have a profound impact on their development.Remember, simplicity is key. Choose one painting or piece of art to focus on, allowing your child to truly engage and appreciate its beauty. By intentionally looking and reflecting on a single artwork, the experience becomes more impactful and memorable than rushing through a museum or flipping through pages of an art book. So, how will you bring a little bit of beauty and art into your homeschool routine? I'd love to hear your ideas and experiences. Connect with me on Instagram @arthistorykids and tag me in your posts.Let's inspire each other and continue to nurture our children's artistic minds, even if they won't remember every detail. Art has the power to shape them in ways we can't even imagine.Stay curious and keep exploring the world through an artistic lens. Quick Ideas for Celebrating Dot Day

Start off your new homeschool year with fun art activities by celebrating Dot Day- inspired by the epic book: The Dot by Peter H Reynolds (2003). A worldwide phenomenon, this book has simple illustrations and brief text but it packs a punch on valuing creativity. It's a tale of young student Vashti who doesn't feel she has much to offer in her art class, but her teacher thinks otherwise. Upon her next visit to art class, Vashti is surprised to see her defiant painting of a single, small dot in the middle of a piece of paper has been framed and displayed behind her teacher's desk. This inspires Vashti to create more dot paintings and to experiment with her creativity and she becomes a role model for other young artists. In addition to reading this book together, you can extend your studies to include various artists who featured dots as a main element in their art – like Yayoi Kusama!+++++++++++++++✏️  Download the FREE Homeschool Art History Starter Kit, featuring a sample lesson introducing Georges Seurat and Pointillism! ✏️► https://www.arthistorykids.com/starterkitRecommended Videos: ► 9 No Prep Art History Ideas for Your Homeschoolhttps://youtu.be/STWfzYNT29g
