1.19 will forever hold a special significance. It's the date my husband and I had our one and only embryo transfer. 6 years ago today, in 2017, is when we witnessed the miracle before our eyes. A ball of light was transferred into me. Pure Magic. Not many individuals get the gift of being able to see the very earliest beginnings of their children's lives. From a cluster of cells, the size of a period at the end of a sentence, it's hard to describe the feeling seeing where we are today. Transfer Day - we held on for this day. A day of celebration. A day of relief finally being able to experience our embryo being transferred into me with the hopes of implantation. In this episode I share a high level overview of our fertility journey to reach our one healthy embryo, and the overwhelming joy of reaching our "Dot Day." You'll hear personal journal excerpts I had written on days leading up to this day and reflections of it just days after. The "happy tears" after experiencing a successful embryo transfer have stayed with me forever. From a "dot" to a thriving 5 year old little girl. We are forever grateful for the miracle of IVF that helped bring us our daughter. I hope you enjoy this soulful episode shared straight from my heart. If you're preparing for an embryo transfer I hope you continue to lead with love over fear. As my niece (Sam Costigan @samcostiganmusic) beautifully shares in the song she wrote for this podcast, "Let the Light in, Let it Begin." Start off your new homeschool year with fun art activities by celebrating Dot Day- inspired by the epic book: The Dot by Peter H Reynolds (2003). A worldwide phenomenon, this book has simple illustrations and brief text but it packs a punch on valuing creativity. It's a tale of young student Vashti who doesn't feel she has much to offer in her art class, but her teacher thinks otherwise. Upon her next visit to art class, Vashti is surprised to see her defiant painting of a single, small dot in the middle of a piece of paper has been framed and displayed behind her teacher's desk. This inspires Vashti to create more dot paintings and to experiment with her creativity and she becomes a role model for other young artists. In addition to reading this book together, you can extend your studies to include various artists who featured dots as a main element in their art – like Yayoi Kusama!+++++++++++++++✏️ Download the FREE Homeschool Art History Starter Kit, featuring a sample lesson introducing Georges Seurat and Pointillism! ✏️► https://www.arthistorykids.com/starterkitRecommended Videos: ► 9 No Prep Art History Ideas for Your Homeschoolhttps://youtu.be/STWfzYNT29g

6/9/22- This week, Jenn fills us in on this weekend's Dot Day and Dorchfest festivities while eating leftover cake. Steve counters an argument made in a recent episode of The New York Times' podcast The Daily, that “polling on gun control gets it wrong,” explaining the key difference between issues polling and ballot question polling, and why, as he's seen in ballot question campaigns throughout Massachusetts history, it's difficult for ballot questions to receive broad public support. Next, Lisa gives us a rundown of what came out of the MassDems Convention. Who's in and who's out. Breaking news: the closest race is for state auditor. This week we feature another Statehouse Round-up with BFFs of the pod Katie Lannan and Chris Lisinski of the State House News Service. We talk about the state budget, gas prices, murmurs about the aid in dying bill, Baker's “revenge porn” bill, and whether the East-West Rail will come to fruition. -- This episode of The Horse Race was brought to you by Benchmark Strategies [www.benchmark-strategies.com] Benchmark is setting a new standard as Boston's fastest-growing public affairs consulting firm. It's International Dot Day kids, a day to celebrate and electrify one's imagination, creativity and make one's mark upon the world. Why is it called Dot Day, you ask? I had a blast ending the week celebrating Dot Day with my students.
International Dot Day, based on Peter Reynold’s book, The Dot, is coming up on September 15th. The Dot is the story of Vashti who is overwhelmed at the sight of a blank piece of paper. Her art teacher gently encourages her to explore art her way. Most art teachers consider Peter Reynold’s books essential reads for the art room as he addresses the issues children face when learning how to be an artist. What I love about the story is the underlying importance of expressive art. This episode takes a look at why expressive art is so important for children and offers you a variety of art projects that are not only perfect for Dot Day. I can’t wait to hear how you celebrate Dot day and what projects work for you! IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN: Why expressive art is so important to include in your art room plans How The Dot can help you create a new focus for your class What lessons can be learned from The Dot to overcome various challenges and empower your students Why you need to take a cautious approach to doing any kind of directed drawing project, especially with younger children How craft paper can be used for projects that all children contribute to LISTEN TO THE SHOW SHOW NOTES: Dot Day Song Dot Day Lyrics LESSONS FROM THE PODCAST: Here's a short video I created for a watercolor project to celebrate Dot Day.
