The Shoot Show

From a clatter of cans and breaking glass, clambering forth, THE SHOOT SHOW is back for another episode out of nowhere and this time, they've brought the heat.  Joining the shamble is long-time friend of the show, Thomas, to run through a viewing of 1987's "The Running Man" starring Jesse Ventura, featuring a brief cameo from Arnold Schwarzeneggar.  It's a somber look into the distant future of 2019, but the prototype for American Gladiators as well as Arnold filling out a yellow onesie make for a stop worth the time. 

The Shoot Show boys are back with a somber watchalong in loving memory of everyone's favorite bad guy.  From making his way through the crowd that May Monday to tasering a Goldberg to being blacklisted from WCW programming, Scott Hall was one of the most influential figures of the Monday Night Wars and beyond. Join The Shoot Show as they watch the Nitro that started it all, complete with age comparisons of wrestlers that look too damn old to be in their twenties.  Get your toothpicks and kiss curls ready, Chico. This is a really bad one.

Following the coordinated attack on The Chaperone's internet streaming presence, The Shoot Show turns to the NBC 'cock once again for wrestling-related entertainment. Swallow your pride, log in to Peacock and do your best to watch along with the boys as they check out some of the Smackdown heyday OR let them clean the bowl so you don't have to and just listen.  We've got the big ol fist setpiece, we've got some pre-thuglife Cena and at least one time-code ruining rewind on this steamy new Shoot Show watchalong! 

You thought you made it through all the Holiday MIZery? No. The Shoot Show is at it again with a very timely and entirely purposeful decision to talk about a Christmas movie in January.  In a drastic departure from The Miz we know, as he plays an ungrateful, self-absorbed bigshot who hurts those around him for his own personal gain. For reasons we still don't understand, Santa Claus takes a liking to him for a job opening at the North Pole. HILARITY ENSUES. Tune in for wholesome Paige jokes, suspect decisions on Google and good will toward men. 

Eat lead Froggies, The Shoot Show is going to Frogtown! We're headed back to the movies for another classic from the Roddy Piper filmography: "Hell Comes To Frogtown". It's yet another dong-heavy 'sode as Piper's titular character, Sam Hell, heads to Frogtown with the express purpose of impregnating women. Seriously. And it only gets more confusing.  Get your shotguns, government issue lingerie and a herpetology field guide handy, because these froggas are bringing you a HOPPIN HELL of a Shoot Show! 

A month late and a couple breaths short, The Shoot Show is taking on Halloween Havoc 1997 BROUGHT TO YOU BY SLIM JIM! After a few delays and viral infections, those Shoot Show boys have finally been able to sit down with a pallet of Slim Jims and check out WCW's answer to the swelling Attitude Era storylines from up north. There's more Stings than you can count, fans ready to fight and PRODUCT PLACEMENT, bebbe.  Grab your sharpie and a purple onesie, because this here is one mythteriouth Shoot Show!

The Shoot Show boys are back together to kick off Halloween week with a special treat, as The New Day conspire against an elderly man in a home burglary gone wrong. Escape The Undertaker is an interactive "choose your own adventure" type situation that ends up being a lot of fun. Tune in, sync up and try and get away for the deadman with your favorite group of charismatic superstars. The New Day will be there, too! 

Life has been a wild ride for everyone lately and the Shoot Show schedule has fallen victim. Its been too long and we missed chatting it up so we got the boys together, put on some wrestling, and then proceeded to mostly talk about the plane ride from hell episode of Dark Side of the Ring.

The Shoot Show boys are pushing the limits of the DMCA this week with their top 5 personal favorite wrestling themes.  We all keep RVD's theme in the gym lineup or maybe crank Rick Derringer on the 4th of July, but how about the more recent stuff? Join The Shoot Show as Tyler, Ryan and Skyler run down their top 5 picks for best wrestler theme songs with a few honorable mentions thrown in.  If WWE doesn't take this down, then Jericho will so hurry up and get this "hopefully falls under Fair Use" edition of The Shoot Show!

Miz-ery loves company and The Shoot Show boys have cordially invited you to another night at the movies.  Before the "Close Quarters" nature of the most recent installment of the "Marine" franchise, "Battleground" featured The Miz returning as the titular devil-dog with a supporting cast of the wrestlers you always hoped better for. Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, Naomi and Maryse round out the cast as WWE Productions does its best to keep things in-house. If you like motorcycles, hiding in stairwells and levels of gore that just don't sit right, bring that leather neck over here for a brand new Shoot Show!

There comes a time in every man's life where the movie "Road House" just begins to make sense and The Shoot Show boys have apparently become men.  Come rest and genuflect at the feet of The Funker as the best Terry we all know and love tries to stop Patrick Swayze from ruining his way of life.  There's boobs, mullets & bare manass and it's somehow not even rasslin' on this Shoot Show.   "Be Nice."

It's the mid 1990s. Wrestling is exploding like never before. Not only is the landscape of the business changing as the Monday Night Wars begin to form, but new and exciting talent is bursting on the scene.  Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Cory "The Cory" Matthews. These names will forever go down in wrestling history as representatives of their era and The Shoot Show is here to tell you about, arguably, the most famous at the time.  Boy Meets World featured several wrestlers in its 7 season run, but this episode takes you down the arc of the most memorable to be featured on the show, Vader. Over 3 appearances between 3 seasons, Leon White impresses with his screen presence, comedic timing and, of course, dem barks.  So tear your shirt and scream "TOPANGAAA", because we're all learning how to love on this Shoot Show. 

Happy New Year from the Shoot Show boys. We finally made it to the end of our long Bret Hart journey. Sadly our train crashed and we were forced to eat The Professional to survive. On the plus side, Shawn Michaels! Join us as we huddle around a campfire and talk about Survivor Series 1997.

The boys have made it to the go home show for the infamous Montreal Screwjob, next week we are headed north of the border for Survivor Series 1997. But before that we still have a RAW in Hershey Pennsylvania. Bret Hart isn't around so the DX antics are fairly light this week. But that leaves more time for Stone Cold, Kane (or is it Cain?) and everyone's favorite orator, Ahmed Johnson. We are slowing the train down just enough to scoop up the Professional to finish out this thing!

Only two more stops before Montreal for The Shoot Show boys on their road through history.    We've seen the formation and flourish of most of the biggest stables in late 90's wrestling and the first big skirmishes of the Monday Night Wars, but business is about to pick up as The Shoot Show hits the go-home RAW before Survivor Series.  There's Goldust, Sable(with Marc Mero), more DX shenanigans and more Double J than anyone ever wanted on this spankin new Shoot Show! 

Week 3 and the boys are waist deep in some late 90's WWF insanity. Factions abound as we careen towards Montreal and Survivor Series 1997. LOD are still tag champions, Sable is already outshining Marc Mero, and Rocky Maivia is doing peoples elbows. All that plus Dude Love AND Mankind?

Another RAW in 1997 for the Shoot Show boys. This train is picking up speed. We have the birth of an all new faction by the name of Degeneration-X. HHH, HBK, Chyna and Ravishing Rick Rude are about to change the game. Bret Hart has had enough of their childish games. All that plus Cornette going nuclear. Happy Thanksgiving!

The Shoot Show train is rolling and we are hitting every RAW in October leading up to Survivor Series 1997! Something about a screwjob? I guess we will see when we get there. Join the boys as they walk the historical path leading to one of the most infamous moments in all of wrestling history. All that plus the birth of DX!

Who's got Bad Blood? Well, the list goes on. HBK, Undertaker, Taylor Swift and now The Shoot Show.    It's back to the cusp of the Attitude Era for The Shoot Show as the boys go back to a time where DX was newly chopping, Vince was still on commentary and real-life tragedies were smoothed over with little lucha matches.  That's gotta...THAT'S GOTTA BE THE SHOOT SHOW!!

From the ashes of WCW October 1998, the boys find themselves standing in front of the spookiest of all structures, the Hell in a Cell...cell. Its a night of both tricks and treats as we get great matches, and we also get matches that make Double T say bad words. Tune in and spook out! Happy Halloween!!

The path has finally come to an end. The Snickers-strewen Path to Halloween Havoc has come to an end in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand as WCW finally cashes in their Warrior voucher for some big pay-per-view numbers. What could possibly go wrong?  As a special Halloween treat, The Shoot Show is made whole once again as Satan has allowed The Professional to return for this HEAVY HITTER. 

The boys have made it to the go home show leading up to the big payoff at Halloween Havoc. Thunder is surprisingly full of wrestling. LWO is getting bigger by the minute! Sting is still pretty mad at Bret Hart. Also DDP and Goldberg are on the outs. And Hogan is gonna wrestle someone? Tune in next week for all that plus the Professional himself!

The spooks don't stop all October long as The Shoot Show boys collect themselves on the path to Halloween Havoc 1998, retracing the uneven footsteps of the Ultimate Warrior's WCW "run". It's a recap heavy episode as they try to make sense of not just Warrior's appearance, but the chaos between the NWO and the Wolfpac, the Four Horsemen vs Bischoff and whatever a Nitro Party is.

It's finally spooky season once again as the Shoot Show boys decide to really push the boundaries of decency and wade through the baggies and needles down the path of the Ultimate Warrior's appearance at WCW Halloween Havoc 1998. Join The Shoot Show every Monday through the month of October as the guys tune in to Nitro and watch with fresh eyes as a man legitimately named Warrior goes to Ted Turner's hall of mirrors. The Boys has such a good time last week they decided to stay in the temple for more fun. This time we see the continuation of the story of Drago. Dario has offered him redemption, but if he fails,  it will cost him his mask! A different band and a different vibe for this episode. All that and a Johnny Mundo sighting! Next week Warriortober begins! A spooky month of Ultimate Warrior in WCW leading up to Halloween Havoc 1998.

It's another listener pick this week as long-time friend of the show Thomas has finally forced the lucha masks on the Shoot Show boys and they don't seem to mind.  We're jumping straight into a big story as Drago has to fight for his career against the reigning Lucha Underground champion, Prince Puma. It's a night of live music, refreshingly good camera work and all the Vampiro a person could ever want on this nuevo Shoot Show. 

The Boys make a brief stop in the present to talk about All Out, AEW's most recent PPV. It may not have been the best show they have done, but we still have a good time talking about it! From botched intros to giant tanks of mimosas, it definitely wasn't boring. Next week we are headed to the sacred Temple for some Lucha Underground courtesy of our main man Thomas.

After some stalling by the rest of us, Skyler finally took us back to the Impact Zone to watch TNA. This time its Slammiversary 2005, celebrating 3 years of the "new face of pro wrestling"! Join 3/4 of the boys as they squabble over who had the best promo and why its Monty Brown in a main event with far too many wildcards. Also, babyface versions of your favorites like Bobby Roode and Eric Young!

The Shoot Show is doing its best to stay current! It's a 3/4 crew once again as Ryan, Tyler and Skyler test the limits of their unprofessionalism in Sean's absence.  Join in as they work down the card and deftly sidestep the hot-button issues of the times on this nearly sideways Shoot Show 

Last week the Boys watched an early Smackdown and this week its an early Monday Night Raw. A nice fan by the name of Nick asked us to watch this one and it was a good time. 4/4 The boys are finally back together and it feeeeeels so good. The Professional has returned and the feels are everywhere. This week we are watching an early Smackdown episode that took place in Las Vegas. And maybe that very same Professional was in the crowd as a 10 year old boy, witnessing Biker Taker for the very first time. Can you imagine??? Enjoy! Next week is a special fan request episode!

It's 1993 in Houston, Texas and we're just as confused as you are.  The NWA and WCW are at odds with the plans for one of wrestling's most honored belts, The Shockmaster has just burst on the scene and Jesse Ventura looks like a member of the Foot Clan.  Luckily, there's a surprise toward the end of the episode that makes it all worthwhile on this nasty nasty 90s Shoot Show complete with offensive signage!     

Hot off the heels of a PPV from a week ago, 3/4 of the boys sit down to talk WWE Extreme Rules (the horror show). After 3 shows in a row with sweet Brian, we are no longer welcome in Ireland. I guess that was to be expected. So anyway... is someone's eye really going to come out? That certainly does seem extreme. Braun and Bray try to work out their troubles in a poorly lit setting. Join us as we console each other!

The dips keep coming from the early 2000s as the Shoot Show finishes the trifecta of trials with Bash at the Beach 2000. Joining us for one more acrid whiff of a steamer of a Shoot Show is Brian of @babyfacebroadcasts. Look for him on the 18 to 49 podcast, as well as huddled in the corner of this episode, cursing our name for putting him through this show.  This one's got it all. Goldberg/Nash, the famous "worked shoot" and more Mark Madden than anyone ever wanted.  Just close your eyes and picture Booker as the champ as we all grin and bear it through this historically bad Shoot Show! 

Last week's trip to 2002 left The Shoot Show feeling unclean and unfulfilled, so they're keeping Brian hostage for one more week and taking another swing at the era with one of the best card's they've seen in a while.  The signs are great, the matches are even better and there's a rumor of a new bad ass walking around...Jump into this 16 degree Celsius Shoot Show and see for yourself!  CW: The curse of J-Double lingered from last week, leaving us with technical issues. Well it finally happened... As requested by Elliot here we are at TNA's first event in June of 2002. Rising from the ashes of WCW, TNA looked to be a direct rival with WWE. Does this event live up to that hype? No, no it does not. But TNA in some form is still around today so who are we to judge? We are still missing the Professional as he pulls the entire west coast back online. But this is too much trauma for the rest of us so we snagged a ringer in the form of Brian Glynn the most charming Irishman you will ever meet. And he might be back next week????

It's back to 2001 for The Shoot Show, once again  This time, the boys pay respects to ECW as they check out the last E-C-Dub pay per view, Guilty as Charged 2001.  It's always a bittersweet occasion, heading back to the crowded arenas of the extreme events of old. The passionate creativity and raw violence of Paul E's Playland crossed with the ever-pressing threat of tetanus built a magic that hasn't been replicated since.  So grab your big phallic sandwiches, tell D-Von to get the tables and put the kids to bed, because The Shoot Show is Guilty as Charged.

It's a 1998-themed Shoot Show, this week, with appearances from almost every "_WO" organization. When you've got Flair sticking it to Bischoff, La Parka doing the bone-boogie AND Sarah Jessica Parker teaming with Goldberg to save the kids, you can't help but call it a Shoot Show.
