Matt had Laci watch the “beloved” “family” Christmas-present-hunt movie Jingle All the Way (1996). So… did she have a good time? Listener, she did not. But you'll have a good time hearing them commiserate about the experience for two hours. Why would a movie cast Arnold Schwarzeneggar to play a normal man? When is it inappropriate to buy a Christmas tree? And wouldn't this movie have been better if the quest for a coveted Turbo Man figure sent Howard (Schwarzeneggar) deep into the seedy Santa-sexual Christmas underbelly of Minneapolis? It's there in this movie if you look for it. In this special episode, Tom once again pays up on his Oscars bet with one of the worst superhero movies ever made, Batman and Robin (1997): directed by Joel Schumacher, written by Akiva Goldsman, music by Elliot Goldenthal, starring George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Uma Thurman, Chris O'Donnell, and Alicia Silverstone.Plot Summary: In Joel Schumacher's second installment of the caped crusader's saga, "Batman and Robin" Gotham City faces a chilling threat that goes beyond the typical criminal masterminds. A diabolical scientist, Dr. Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze (played with icy intensity by Arnold Schwarzenegger), seeks to freeze Gotham and hold it hostage until he finds a cure for his terminally ill wife, Nora. But this time, Batman (George Clooney) and his trusty sidekick Robin (Chris O'Donnell) find themselves not only battling a frozen city but also contending with Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman), a seductive eco-terrorist who can control plants, and intends to transform the world into a lush paradise, even if it means eliminating humanity. As Gotham City descends into an icy abyss, Batman and Robin must set aside their differences and join forces with the mysterious and cunning Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone). Together, they embark on a race against time to stop Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy from plunging the world into eternal winter. You can now follow us on Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok (@gmoatpodcast) or find our Facebook page at Greatest Movie of All-Time Podcast. For more on the episode, go to: https://www.ronnyduncanstudios.com/post/bonus-batman-and-robin-1997For the entire rankings list so far, go to:Full Graded List - Greatest Movies of All-Time Ronny Duncan Studios

Tia Carrere was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. While attending Sacred Hearts Academy, Tia was discovered in a Waikiki grocery store and landed the female lead in the independent film Aloha Summer. Tia moved to Los Angeles and continued her ascent in the acting world with a series regular role on General Hospital as well as a string of guest starring roles on MacGyver, Quantum Leap, Married With Children, and Friday the 13th among others. With her breakthrough role as Cassandra Wong in Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2 Tia was able to showcase both her considerable singing as well as acting chops. Wayne's World was a worldwide phenom and set the stage for the evil femme fatale Juno Skinner in James Cameron's film True Lies, opposite Arnold Schwarzeneggar, the computer whiz Jingo Asakuma in Philip Kaufman's film Rising Sun opposite Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes, and her very own series lead of in Relic Hunter. Other work includes Nip/Tuck, In Plain Sight, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and voicing the part of older sister Nani in Disney's animated feature Lilo & Stitch as well its spinoff tv series. Subsequently Tia returned to her Hawaii roots with four Grammy-award nominated CDs, winning the Grammy twice with her records 'ikena and Huana Ke Aloha. She also co-hosted and performed during the ceremony. Lately, Tia can be seen in Michael Patrick King's Netflix series AJ & the Queen starring RuPaul, Amblin Films "Easter Sunday" starring JoKoy, Big Fat Family Christmas, and Never Have I Ever. This episode we look at the Cool Copaganda dystopian classic ROBOCOP.   But first Raquel worries about the future of Stephen King movies after FIRESTARTER tanks at the box office and Raphael has to assure her that Stephen's career will be just fine even if they stop releasing adaptations of his stuff (which they never will).   This is a 1st watch for Raquel, who actually thought it was an Arnold Schwarzeneggar movie all these years. How relevant is this movie today? Is it too stuck in the 1980s? Raphael breaks down modern policing and its problems and how ROBOCOP actually was a depressingly prescient film in that regard. There a whole lot of talk about the privitization of the public sector in modern times and how ROBOCOP follows a trend of films that warned us about the problems of that. Dutch director Paul Verhoeven's outsider eye on American culture seems to be a perfect blend of cynicism and comedy. Its crazy how much this film feels like a proto-24 hour news cycle TV channel.   This movie is far smarter than it needed to be, and you'll be too after listening to this episode!   The Generation Splice is a film podcast where retired psychologist Dr. Raquel Martinez, a Baby Boomer through & through, & her son Raphael Jose Martinez, a cranky millennial punk rocker/film writer, discuss various films through the lens of their generation & personal experiences. Every week one host picks a movie to dissect & see if they can splice together the generation gap via their love of film.   Feel free to write to us! Here's something of a truth: ‘normal' people don't make commercials for a living. They don't write 30-second spots featuring Muppets talking on a Facebook Portal, they don't have their words read by Arnold Schwarzeneggar, they don't direct actors in Romania over Zoom, and they definitely don't have their work seen by millions of people watching March Madness.  Husband and wife duo, Andy and Elly Holdeman, are two normals that do these very things. They market some of the most recognizable brands in the world--AirBNB, Facebook, XBOX--and, not surprisingly (given what we learned about their job to find human truth), they shared some very recognizable (even normal) facets about their lives: insecurity about your ideas, struggles for inspiration, frustration with clients, bosses/coworkers who just don't get it. As Andy and Elly share bits of their creative process, they drop truth bombs (as Andy is wont to call them) that are accessible and useful no matter what you do. Take “Underthink”, which is salve to the weary souls of we anxious, neurotic, or perfectionistic types; sometimes, we just need to take a “less is more” approach. Another pearl of wisdom was “If you're going to do it, you better enjoy it” because...life's too short, man.                                                                               Finally, everyone should take heed to the Holdemans' #1 axiom: “Take long walks.” So, download this pod, get your sneaks on, and take that stroll these creative genius normals ordered up.

The career of action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger is full of hits, but 1993 handed him his first major flop. Following his career-defining performance in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the John McTiernan-directed spoof Last Action Hero saw Arnie play a fictional movie character from an action sequel starring… Arnold Schwarzeneggar. Opening in June of 1993, Last Action Hero was billed as "the next great summer action movie," but bad word-of-mouth from a disastrous test screening destroyed any chance the film had of standing up to the competition. The fact that the competition was Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, which came out the weekend before Last Action Hero and would go on to become the highest-grossing film of all time at that point... Well, it almost made Arnold’s action career extinct. But twenty-eight years later, Last Action Hero seems ahead of its time, and it may just be one of the best comedies Arnold ever made.   For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com   You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. From James Cameron's first two ground breakers, to the two sequels of varying quality, to the infamous Terminator Genisys, we dissected the roots and follies of Matt's hero Arnold Schwarzeneggar's most famous role. Cut to three years later. Many retrospectives have passed us, and Matt even graduated college. Yet low and behold, despite bad reviews and so-so US box office for Genisys, Cameron has used his hold on the Terminator rights to recruit Deadpool director Tim Miller for the brand new just released sequel Terminator: Dark Fate. Join Matt and myself as we reminisce about that first retro, and dig our heels into what is looking like will be the final film of this dwindling franchise. The Force Fed Sci-Fi Movie Podcast

This week, we take look at the classic and franchise-setting film, The Terminator! We'll be discussing The Terminator movie cast, The Terminator special effects, the Nike shoes product placement in the film, our own The Terminator film review and rating, and more! So take a seat, listen to our podcast episode and/or read and learn about this legendary movie (and if you leave, you'll be terminated...jk). The Terminator Movie Cast and Director James Cameron as Director/Writer We've briefly discussed James Cameron here at Force Fed Sci-Fi before when we discussed and reviewed Strange Days, which Cameron wrote. However, The Terminator was his directorial debut. And for his directorial debut, Cameron was beyond successful. Of course, we'll talk about the legacy a bit later, but we all know this first film spawned a globally known franchise. Arnold Schwarzeneggar as the Terminator / T-800 / "model 101" It may be safe to say that this movie helped Schwarzeneggar reach global fame while his previous film Conan the Barbarian was more of a break-through role. It's interesting to think as to why his terminator role raised his stardom. While it did help that this film was praised for its special effects, why did a part with little emotion and only 17 to 18 lines make Arnold famous? Prior to selecting Schwarzeneggar as the title role, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone were in line to receive the part. In fact, Cameron wanted OJ simpson to be the terminator but decided against it (ironically) because he felt OJ could not convey a convincing killer. Schwarzeneggar was actually considered for the role of Kyle Reese first, but it's probably a good thing that his role switched due to Cameron wanting someone bigger and intimidating playing the role (kind of a no-brainer in our opinion). His ability to play such a brutal and murdering cybernetic robot with no emotion was excellent and well portrayed. Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese We weren't too familiar with Biehn's filmography prior to The Terminator. With that being said, we think he did a pretty good job executing the role of Reese. What we were intrigued about was casting someone who had more smarts to fight the terminator rather than another body builder. In addition, he's a kind of a scrawny guy. As we talked and thought about it more, you wonder how much actors like Schwarzeneggar and Stallone influenced roles of villains and superheros. Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor Hamilton does a great job playing Connor, who's arc is the most interesting, but doesn't reveal itself until close to the end of the film. For most of the movie, she's an unassuming and almost damsel in distress of a character. She doesn't believe in herself which makes her doubt Reese's story of her raising the leader of a future resistance. Maybe it's because the terminator has closed in on her and is about to take her life, but she musters up a lot of courage to start fighting back, even yells at Reese as he's badly injured, "On your feet soldier!" While Reese is the one who damages the terminator, its Connor that ultimately leads the cyborg a certain way so she can crush and defeat it. Paul Winfield as lieutenant Ed Traxler The police lieutenant that gets shot by the terminator during the police station ... we think massacre is a good word for it. Winfield would go on to appear in several other sci-fi outings, albeit small and brief roles, including Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the Star Trek The Next Generation series, as well as Babylon 5. He eventually had a bit of a voice-over career as well. Lance Henrikson as sergeant Hal Vukovich The police sergeant that also gets blown away during the incredible police station shoot up sequence. Henrikson was the veteran actor in the film actually with a number of credits prior, including Close Encounters of the Third Kind, but only had a small supporting role in this film. And a short and brief appearance by a very young Bill Paxton...

Episode 362: 6 Life-Changing Success Tips I Learned from Arnold Schwarzeneggar - Part 2 by John Romaniello of Roman Fitness Systems. RFS originally began as a personal training company servicing the NYC Metro area back in 2003. Through that company, Roman coached everyone from professional athletes to actors to regular folks. In 2009, John Romaniello started the site to more conveniently merge his love of fitness and writing. While it was “just a blog” at first, it quickly became much, much more. Slowly but surely, writing articles, blog posts and books became the priority. Today, RFS continues to be one of the most respected sites for high quality fitness and lifestyle information around. Change your ways in 90 days... In this episode we'll be showing you how to achieve more in the first 3 months of the year than most people do in 3 years, a MUCH more effective way than simply saying "I'm going to join the gym this year" or "I want to grow my business in 2017" We'll look at our strategy for hitting our 20 year plan (yep, TWENTY year plan!), our goals and how we keep ourselves on track. We cover why willpower doesn't work, John dusts off his Arnold Schwarzeneggar impression, and we get all accountable on you. We'll tell you why SMART goals are actually pretty dumb, and we shoot for the moon with Elon Musk. Tai Lopez is an investor, entrepreneur, author and aspiring renaissance man.  When he's not throwing A-list celebrity parties (Tyler Durden of RSD included) in his Hollywood Hills home he's chin-wagging with Warren Buffet and Bill Gates at the annual Berkshire Hathaway meeting.  Tai reads a book a day and sends his reviews to 1.2 million of his close, close friends.  He's both lived with the Amish for 2 years and started 12 multi-million dollar companies. And that's just the warmup.  Tai has a 67 step plan you can follow to "Lead the Good Life" which values Health, Wealth, Love and Happiness.  He subscribes to Warren Buffet's #2 man Charlie Munger's "Concept of Inversion" which instructs you to directly avoid those things that will hurt your chances of success.   He also believes that humans are subject to 25 Cognitive Biases and that Arnold Schwarzeneggar's concept of "Doing Reps" applies directly to life.  He makes a big distinction between Stoics an Epicureans and believe's the "4-hour Workweek" is for people who are doing something they hate. I was impressed by Tai because he's not a self-help guru but instead a man who believes that the really best knowledge has stood the test of time.  Enjoy.
