Styles so special- What is John Cena's legacy or can't we tell yet- The work-shoot approach to various promos such as Miz-Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns-John Cena, Rock-John Cena, and his favorite podcast interviews he's conducted so far.

On this very special presentation of the Main Event Talk Podcast we look back at 25 years of the Montreal screw job. It was November 9th of 1997. Montreal Quebec Canada was the setting and the event was WWF survivor series. And it would feature the WWF champion at that time Bret the hitman hart, going one and one against the heartbreak kid, Shawn, Michaels. This would be one of the most infamous moments in the history of not only professional wrestling, but also in sports entertainment. We look back at that very infamous moment, 25 years ago. You will also hear from the individuals that were involved in the Montreal screw job, including Bret, hitman hart, the heartbreak kid, Shawn, Michaels, Jim Ross, Vince, McMahon, Jim Cornette, and so much more. Plus, we will also hear clips from the Bret Harte documentary called wrestling with shadows. and what happen at the end of that documentary. And plus we look back 25 years later and where do we go from here and what do we remember from 25 years ago. It's a must listen episode of the Main Event Talk Podcast you do not want to miss. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/realmaineventtalk/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/realmaineventtalk/support
This week on Episode #216 of The #GMTEPodcast, I've been Voted in a clean sweep to once again give you the Hot Sizzling Express Takes that you need to hear. It starts with thoughts on the 25th Anniversary of "The Montreal Screw Job" that took place at The 1997 WWF (WWE) Survivor Series featuring Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels. I give my reaction to the outcomes from WWE Crown Jewel 2022 (that I didn't watch so it's a shorter than normal recap) and reaction to Logan Paul's Serious Injuries. I then give you my Full Recap/Thoughts for AEW Rampage & WWE Monday Night Raw (I covered SmackDown last week as it was a Taped Show). I breakdown the numbers and ratings for those shows as well as last week's WWE NXT & AEW Dynamite shows (with reaction to Jade Cargill/Marina Shafir). I'm coming off a 9-4 Week 9 & I'm looking to do better with my Week 10 NFL Picks which includes my Upset Pick of the Week. The 2022 World Series is in the books and I share my thoughts on it as well as the ratings for The World Series (which aren't good). The Baseball HOF Contemporary Era released it's ballot of players up for consideration for The 2023 Baseball Hall of Fame. I tell you the 2 names I believe should make it with the 12 of 16 Votes needed to get in. A new survey is out about Thanksgiving and it reveals some troubling trends. Finally a South African Women Jumps in to The Guinness Book of World Records with a record you won't believe. I hope you are all doing well. Sit Back, Grab a Cold Water, & Keep It In Full Drive for Episode #216 of The #GMTEPodcast. Thanks Everyone!!!

HBK is also talking about the famous MSG Curtain Call, is relationship with Vince McMahon, the origination of the Superkick, the Montreal Screw Job, Ric Flair, and the one gimmick of his career that he kinda regrets. Presented by Geico!
Rachel and Matt are all about screwjobs this week: Moolah, Montreal, and CM Punk. They kick-off the episode with a Clash at the Castle recap and Rachel's first PPV live watching experience. Rachel breaks down the oft-forgotten Moolah vs. Wendy Richter screwjob and the impact on both of their careers, as well as the future of women's wrestling. They talk through the infamous Montreal ScrewJob and contemplate its parallels and connections to today. Matt finally unleashes his dark side and revels in the train wreck that is the CM Punk/Tony Khan AEW “Presser From Hell”. They debate whether or not it was a work and a seltzer side tangent. Millennial Mania rounds out the episode with a brief look into the similarities behind the “Don't Worry Darling” drama and whether or not Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine.FOLLOW US ON SOCIALS:TWITTER @ilwpodINSTAGRAM @ilwpodTIKTOK @mattvogel5 and @ilwpod#ilikewrestlingpod #ilwpod
Modern pro wrestling's backstage drama has become a hotter topic than the wrestling itself. Today's fans crave “reality” in their wrestling, something from the news to attach to the story that's already there, the one presented by the wrestling company. Once again, “Reality” is in, and somewhat similar to how it was 25 years ago, when the Montreal Screwjob happened, when the kayfabe curtain came down off the rails and pro wrestling changed completely, and we—both the industry and the fans—became more fixated on what was fact or fiction, what the boundaries were. “What really happened?” “What did so-and-so do for that to happen?” People were skipping the entree for more tea. Modern Society sips on gossip all day. CM Punk? The AEW media scrum? The melee? “That's so Montreal.” That's what Fumi Saito and Justin Knipper call it now; an adjective. It's shorthand for saying “this type of pro wrestling is, intentionally or not, blending objective reality with storyline fiction.” Join the Patreon for just $5.00 per month here: https://www.patreon.com/fightgamemedia Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/fightgamemedia Join our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1958473677605950 Follow our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/fightgamemedia Subscribe to our YouTube Page: https://www.youtube.com/c/FightGameMedia Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fightgamemedia Learn more about your ad choices. This one was pretty damn memorable for a few reasons. The Hart Foundation was all over the WWF, the Undertaker was on top, Stone Cold Steve Austin was breaking through as "the next big thing," Shawn Michaels was a "bad boy babyface," Mankind was having an identity crisis while feuding with Hunter Hearst Helmsley, and new factions were cropping up all the time. Besides the "gang warfare" going on inside the WWF, they were battling it out with WCW every Monday night as Raw duked it out with Nitro for ratings and, at this point, was consistently losing. The injury bug bit the WWF hard during this time and it was about to strike one of their fastest rising stars on this show as Owen Hart injures Steve Austin badly enough where it leads to what causes his retirement down the line. Also, Bret Hart may be in the World Title match in the main event of this show, but we're in the countdown! We're T-minus 3 months away from the Montreal Screwjob and Bret being GONE FOREVAH, BRO!!! There's also a HILARIOUSLY AWFUL million dollar giveaway where no one gets a damn thing on this show. It's so...damn...bad!
