Hi, I am a "washed up" college athlete that had NO freaking clue what to do after I was done playing soccer (and lets be honest, I still don't). I never thought about life after soccer, until life after soccer happened. Being an athlete was my character trait, who was I without that? My goal is to create more conversation around this huge transition in life. Each episode will be filled with experiences and advice from many different athletes. No matter the sport, we are all on the same team here (yes, I know that is corny). So to all my fellow "washed up athletes"...what the hell do we do now?
Hunter Fasanaro joins us this week to share his experience playing lacrosse at Quinnipiac University. Hunter graduated from Quinnipiac in 2021 with a degree in Advertising and Integrated Communications. Following school, Hunter moved to Charleston, South Carolina working in finance. Hunter also began coaching a high school lacrosse team and eventually left the finance world to create his own business and pursue personal training, group fitness, and health consultations. Follow along with Hunter's personal journey on Instagram at @hunterfasanarotraining Hunter also has a podcast called ‘More Than Alive' and it can be found on all streaming platforms.
Rachel Elery joins us this week to discuss life before, during, and after her competitive CrossFit career. Rachel is that person you can spend hours talking with, and it feels like you just sat down. The conversation goes every which way, which is my favorite type of conversation to have. Our identities and experiences are so intertwined. Can we really talk about our athletic endeavors without talking about who we believe we are? I don't think so. The things we have done and seen and experienced, shapes how we identify. No matter how significant that "athlete" piece of you is, it is still integral to who you are and who you are becoming.Follow Rachel's personal journey on instagram at @relery and her blog at https://releryuntamed.weebly.com/
Joe Kincart is an Air Force graduate, and is now serving as a pilot in the US Air Force. Joe was a pitcher on the baseball team during his time at the Air Force Academy. I found his experience unique because although he is done playing baseball, he is still within the confines and structure of the US Air Force. This is also the first episode where we had a live audience and received questions from said audience! Joe drops little nuggets of wisdom about life, sport, and leadership, to name a few.
Richard is a Colorado native who played football at CU Boulder. Now, he is working as a scholar relations officer, to provide grants and scholarships to people. We discussed our athletic experiences (Rich put me in the hot seat and asked me questions as well), our careers, how I got into creating a podcast, and where we are both at now. Rich's dog, Sue, joins us as a guest during our conversation. We compare team dynamics and the differences between different team sizes. We share what we both wish we knew before leaving athletics. And anything and everything in between. This was one of the longest episodes I've recorded, and I enjoyed every second of it.
Cory Camp joins us this week to share his experience as a collegiate swimmer. Cory founded a company called ‘Forever Athlete', a platform that connects athletes to help provide peer to peer support. Cory is a published author, fellow podcaster, and extremely knowledgeable. He gave us a glimpse into what his experience was during and after swimming. You can follow Cory on instagram at @corycamp and @foreverathletellcCory's podcast can be found at https://open.spotify.com/show/2EpmGFEPxLmvX064N2raOe?si=97732a23e5db438f

Getting these two on the podcast has been long awaited, and I am so happy to finally have them join us. We talk about our individual experience leaving soccer, playing for fun, creating a new community, and how we spend all the new found time we have. This week is a two parter, mainly because Zoom kicked us off as we were recording. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/genevieve-henderson/message

This was a special one for me. Tracy Noonan was one of the first powerful female coaches and role models I had as a player. To me, she continues to represent a hard ass work ethic. She encourages the big wins players experience in life, on and off the field. Tracy has played with the best and trained the best. The environment she creates is a testament to her experiences, mirroring the work ethic she embodies. From playing for UNC Chapel Hill, representing the US Women's Soccer team, being a founding player for the Women's United Soccer League, coaching in college, and creating Dynasty Goalkeeping, Tracy's resume is packed with unique experiences that she carries with her. She helped to shape the game that we have all been fortunate enough to play. I learned a lot during this episode, and I am so grateful to have learned from one of the greats. As always, thank you for listening ◡̈ xoxo, G [removed] Dynasty Goalkeeping website Genevieve's Podcasts --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/genevieve-henderson/message

Ashley is a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Arizona. In college, she competed at the University of Oklahoma on the Track and Field team. Ashley speaks about how being an athlete has shaped the coach she is now. We discuss the importance of using who we know to our advantage. When athletics is over, how does that sense of autonomy define us? Who are we when no one is there to push us? Like other guests have shared, Ashley explains how necessary it is to find your tribe. There is value in people who can speak into your life. During this conversation, the “Job triangle” (something I had never heard of) comes up, and it is defined as location, vocation, and pay. Finally, we discuss what separates the good from the great and the importance in consistency and its tie to achievements over time.
