Redefining Affiliate Marketing: Brand + Performance for Maximum Revenue Impact“Affiliate marketing intersects with every part of your marketing stack—PR, influencer, paid search, content—but too often, it operates in a silo. The real opportunity lies in integrating it into your brand and performance strategy from day one. When you align affiliate with your broader media mix and apply smarter measurement, it stops being just a channel and becomes a strategic growth lever.” That's a quote from Lacie Thompson, an executive at New Engen and founder of LT Partners and a sneak peek at today's episode. Welcome to Revenue Boost: A Marketing Podcast. I'm your host, Kerry Curran—Fractional Chief Growth Officer, industry analyst, and relentless advocate for turning marketing into a revenue engine. Each episode, I bring you the strategies, insights, and conversations that will fuel your revenue growth. So search for Revenue Boost in your favorite podcast directory, and hit subscribe to stay ahead of the game.In this episode, we're pulling back the curtain on one of the most misunderstood and under-leveraged growth drivers in your marketing stack: affiliate marketing. In Redefining Affiliate Marketing Brand Performance for Maximum Revenue Impact, I'm joined by Lacie Thompson—founder of LT Partners and now an executive at New Engen, a top-tier performance marketing agency. We'll talk about why affiliate deserves a seat at your media planning table, how to integrate it with your broader marketing strategy, and how smart brands are using data and measurement to unlock serious revenue impact. So stay tuned through the ad, where Lacie shares how you can get smarter about measuring affiliate and truly integrating it into your broader strategy.Let's go.Kerry Curran, RBMA (00:01.23):So welcome, Lacie. Please introduce yourself and share a bit about your background and expertise.Lacie Thompson (00:06.617):Yeah, thanks so much for having me. I'm Lacie Thompson. My background, before I started LT Partners—an affiliate marketing agency—was in affiliate and digital marketing on the brand side.I was very lucky in the early days to have some really great mentors and leaders. After spending about six years on the brand side and then three years at another startup agency, I started LT Partners in September of 2018. We grew very quickly—very organically, I should add—and were acquired by New Engen, which is a digital marketing agency, in June of 2023.Kerry Curran, RBMA (00:53.998):Excellent. Well, we're so glad to have you here. I've always been very impressed with your success—and congratulations on building your own successful company and getting acquired.I know you've been in the industry a long time and have lots of expertise to share with us. So, to start: when you're talking to other senior executives, marketing leaders, CMOs, what's the buzz you're hearing? What are people talking about today—especially when it comes to affiliate and digital marketing?Lacie Thompson (01:27.459):Yeah, thinking of the big picture—what I found really interesting about New Engen is the way they have grown and adapted over the course of their history. New Engen is about eight or nine years old at this point, but initially started as a tech company. They built a hyper-granular bidding model on top of Google and Meta, primarily.Over time, as those platforms introduced their own algorithms, that technology became a little less important. What they realized when they took a step back was—they were an agency. It was the people helping the brands leverage the technology who were actually making a big impact. So over time, New Engen pivoted to become a performance marketing agency. Then, just before the acquisition of LT Partners, what the New Engen leaders were hearing in the market was a need to stop thinking about marketing in silos of brand and performance—and to bring it all together. Because thinking about it more holistically is where a lot of brands are trying to get. We had seen that in Affiliate very early on. That was a big part of our growth and success—this focus on understanding the incremental value of partnerships and working more closely with the ones that were more incremental. For us, that means introducing brands to new audiences. We had been hyper-focused on that in our "channel"—I use that word in quotes, because there's always debate about whether to call it a channel. But we had been doing that for a long time. So, at the same time that New Engen was pivoting toward a digital marketing solution in the space—we had already been doing that for a long time in affiliate. And they didn't have Affiliate as a capability. So it was a really natural coming together, because our thought process around measurement and how to evaluate how different marketing channels and methodologies create value for brands—whether it's within a branding ecosystem or a performance one—was very aligned. And we need to solve and measure for that across everything. So there was just a lot of strong alignment there.Kerry Curran, RBMA (04:11.03):They were so smart to acquire you—for your success, but also to see the potential of integrating an affiliate strategy into their offering. IWhere you and I have discussed in the past, I also grew up in a performance marketing world: SEO, paid search, paid social, programmatic. And the more I learned about affiliate, the more I realized affiliate needs to be part of these conversations. But what we've seen is that it's really hard to get people—especially those who haven't wrapped their head around affiliate—to recognize the importance, value, and potential of it.Lacie Thompson (05:02.073):Yeah, and I think that's what's really fun for me about the channel. Because affiliate, like I said, there's this debate around whether it's a channel or a mechanism. And I think that's part of why it's difficult for some people to wrap their head around it—because you don't have an ad platform with a campaign structure. It's not like you push a button and things change. It's 50% data analytics and deep insights—and 50% interpersonal relationships and business development of sorts. But what's funny about affiliate is it's actually the one channel that really intersects so many different parts of your marketing stack: influencer, PR, even paid search. Some partners have capabilities that fall under other types of marketing channels. But for some reason, over time, there has been this trend of affiliate-only agencies. And this narrative that you need an affiliate agency—and a separate digital or performance marketing agency—and that the two operate in silos. Oftentimes, they're not as closely connected as they could be if everything were handled under one roof.So I find the irony of that really interesting. It's not common to see digital marketing agencies that have affiliate as a core area of subject matter expertise. And obviously, as someone who's spent most of my digital marketing career in affiliate and partnerships, I found New Engen's interest in that really exciting.I think, as we'll probably talk about here, when we think about measurement, and the amount of budget brands allocate to affiliate marketing—it's so small compared to the impact it can have. And it's exciting to be part of a larger organization that has the infrastructure and teams to help us prove that value with advanced measurement.Kerry Curran, RBMA (07:27.022):Yes, definitely. And I'm excited to talk more about measurement. But we forget that, to your point, there still needs to be more buy-in, education, and understanding of affiliate's value among CMOs and senior marketers. As you said, affiliate is so full-funnel—it covers PR, awareness-building (influencer/creator or mass publications), all the way down to the research phase before purchase. It opens the door to strategic opportunities and conversations. But it's the term "affiliate" that tends to trip people up.Lacie Thompson (08:24.889):Yes, just a couple of weeks ago, we were talking to a potential client, and we actually got into the affiliate portion of the conversation by first talking about performance PR and influencers—and the convergence of brand and performance. That really opened their minds more than saying, "We're here to talk about your affiliate marketing program."What was cool in that conversation—as sometimes happens—is you could just see this light go off where people start to realize this isn't the same affiliate channel marketing that was happening 10 years ago. We're not just a bottom-of-funnel ecosystem. We really have to change the nomenclature and the structure of how we reward partners to evolve past that old, negative perception.Lacie Thompson (09:39.651):So I hope—and I've seen—that the industry is shifting. More and more people are talking about it this way. It's evolving, and that's wonderful to see.Kerry Curran, RBMA (09:52.79):Yes, I agree. And I think the more upper-funnel opportunities—really, the awareness placements—are becoming essential. I know for PR agencies, if they want to be in a top publication, they need to have an affiliate practice within their organization or partner with an affiliate agency. That's been driving a lot of the shift. And obviously, nothing's grown faster than influencers and creators. It's about understanding that there's integration and overlap. There's so much potential. And to your point, it's really important to understand that affiliate's not just toolbars or coupons.Lacie Thompson (10:36.559):Right. The cool thing about affiliate marketing is that you're essentially, as a brand, letting other people tell your story for you, right? And that is so much more powerful for consumers—hearing from an influencer, a media publication, or an editor. Especially editorial publications with strong reputations.People have a lot of trust in those voices. They trust them more than they trust the brand. So we're seeing a shift toward leveraging what your partnerships are saying about you in other marketing channels. That's another cool thing about being part of New Engen: figuring out how to take what an influencer or a content partner like Wirecutter is saying and turn that intocontent that gets in front of your audience through other channels. And I think a lot of people now know that performs much better than just the brand talking about itself.Kerry Curran, RBMA (11:46.412):Yes, I definitely think that third-party endorsement—especially from a trusted source—goes so far. Again, that ties back to what you said about affiliate being a brand strategy as well. You've talked about the shift from performance-only to brand-plus-performance integration. Talk more about how you're approaching that within New Engen and what you're seeing with clients or brands you're speaking with today.Lacie Thompson (12:19.993):Yes, I mean, historically, I grew up in the age of performance marketing, right? We had sophisticated MTAs. We were focused on understanding what the right MTA was, and how to tweak it in order to understand performance. But you get to this point where, when you're hyper-focused on trackable KPIs, you become as efficient as you can be—but you're also not scaling. So internally at New Engen, a lot of what we focused on in the early days were DTC startups that scaled very rapidly, hyper-focused on performance marketing. But then, at a certain point, you reach a plateau. And the way brands have historically thought about brand versus performance is: performance has KPIs we hold to—ROAS, CAC, whatever it is. On the brand side, those don't really exist. You're looking at engagement rates and lots of other indicators. As we've seen the two converge, we've needed to come up with better ways to measure the impact across the board. That's led to our belief that the foundation needs to be measurement—specifically, a mindset shift in how you approach it.You can't rely solely on Google Analytics as your source of truth. You can't rely just on your affiliate tracking platform—or even on some of the other channel platforms. So we believe that, to get past the performance plateau and actually grow your brand, you have to rethink how you're investing your dollars.Kerry Curran, RBMA (14:26.38):That is so smart. What I've seen over the years is that MMMs don't include all the channels—not just affiliate. Media mix modeling often only includes paid touchpoints. So it sounds like you've gotten to a point where you're really able to measure the impact. It's not “Here's your affiliate report over here, and here's your separate search, social, programmatic report.” You're really looking at the data together. So talk a bit more about how you've been able to do that.Lacie Thompson (15:02.307):Yes, our SVP of Analytics, Andrew Richardson, is just incredible. His understanding of the whole ecosystem—I really respect it. Because oftentimes, affiliate gets pushed to the side, like the redheaded stepchild. But he actually really understands it. So when he built our MMM approach, everything includes affiliate. But it goes beyond that. It also includes: How are your competitors impacting your ability to grow? If they're spending more on media, that has a negative impact on you. We've done things in our models that account for factors like: Is it an election year, and how might that affect your business? We're also looking at your brick-and-mortar store performance and how your digital spend is affecting it. So it really depends on the business and its model—what components matter, the time of year, and everything else.Lacie Thompson (16:08.943):Every situation is different. So we want to come to the table with a model that makes sense for each brand. What's really cool—and validating for me—is that early on at LT Partners, we built a proprietary platform called Lift. We believed just looking at the data in the tracking platform wasn't enough to optimize your program. We always believed that how much new traffic a partner drives is indicative of their incrementality. So we pull data from Google Analytics, match it with the tracking platform, and we've built insights and tools for our team to use on top of that data. We optimize toward partners who are introducing brands to new audiences. And with Lift, we have benchmarking data that tells us, on average, what percentage of traffic is new from content partners, coupon partners, or even individual partners. When we talk with enterprise brands that have advanced measurement tools like Measured, Rockerbox, or Northbeam, sometimes they share that data with us. And we often see close alignment between the level of new traffic and the level of incrementality these models show. Same thing with our internal MMMs. So, while we look at multiple KPIs, it's validating to see that our focus on new traffic is supported by broader measurement. That means smaller brands don't necessarily have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars. There are other ways to optimize toward what's incremental and valuable— and it doesn't have to be a massive lift.Kerry Curran, RBMA (18:34.678):Thank you for sharing that, because there are so many data points. We talk about this all the time—how the customer journey is not linear. There are so many touchpoints. They go back and forth. Being able to measure impression data—like where someone read your article or saw your brand but didn't take action until later—is really important. It's a very normal behavior pattern. And being able to still attribute that back to the publisher matters. I remember hearing about brands cutting their affiliate marketing because they couldn't prove it drove incrementality. But there's this larger lift that you're able to see. It just sounds like it's helping brands get smarter and smarter about how they're investing.Lacie Thompson (19:32.163):Yes, there are really a couple of different buckets when it comes to measurement to think about. One is actually being able to measure the impact—which I think requires a few different angles to get the right perspective on whether your affiliate program or any other channel is driving incremental value, and what that value looks like. Then there's another bucket: how do I optimize a program? How do I drive toward creating more incrementality? And those don't have to be the same things. I think sometimes when I talk about new traffic, or first-click attributed revenue versus last-click attributed revenue, people ask, “Oh my gosh, do you think we should be using first-click attributed revenue as our measurement?” And I'm like, no—that's over here. That's a different conversation. I'm talking about what data we need to look at to try to improve what the measurement says over here. And oftentimes, that means trying to grow first-click attributed revenue because that is typically more incremental than last-click.Kerry Curran, RBMA (20:50.476):Yes, and to your point, it's about looking at different data points and getting smarter. And I think the more we've seen analytics become more advanced—tracking more touchpoints—the more correlation we see between the channels and the impact they have on each other. At the end of the day, that's what makes affiliate so incredibly valuable and important.I've talked in the past about getting affiliate a seat at the planning table. When the brand is thinking about how to allocate budgets—TV, display, programmatic, search, social—affiliate needs to be part of that conversation. Within New Engen, you have that natural organizational structure to foster that. But it's still a challenge for a lot of agencies and brands that aren't looking at it that way.It sounds like it comes down to getting smarter about the data you're evaluating and how all those touchpoints are really driving impact.Lacie Thompson (21:57.435):Well, I think that's the problem. You have this conflicting dynamic within the channel: it's traditionally performance-based, and it's optimized on a last-click basis. You're paying your partners based on whether they drive the last click. And then everyone gets mad when the big partners figure out how to get that last click—and they say the channel isn't incremental. Well, maybe that's because you're hyper-focused on bottom-of-funnel, spend efficiency, and you're not thinking about partnerships strategically. You're not thinking about how to grow the channel or how to measure it appropriately to understand the impact. The last-click performance nature of the channel will never allow you to fully reward the right partners. It will never allow you to fully understand the value of those partners. So, the actual construct of the channel is in conflict with it having a greater impact on your business. Some marketing leaders just say, “I'm going to let it do its thing, be super efficient, and not pay attention to it.” But I think that's a huge miss. When you think about your holistic approach and how to grow your brand, a lot of people say, “Well, it's so small. It's only 10% of my spend.”Well, it could be 15% of your spend—but have twice as much impact—if you thought about doing it differently.Kerry Curran, RBMA (23:28.942):Yes, and that spend is purely attributable. It's usually a commission—or a cost-per-acquisition model—so it's not like other channels where you're spending millions of dollars and may never know the outcome. So, there's still a lot of education that needs to happen. But the brands you work with are lucky to have you out there helping them get smarter. So, thank you. For the people listening who are thinking, “I need to get smarter about this”—what are some of the readiness steps or foundational things they should have in place to better measure affiliate and integrate it into their broader strategy?Lacie Thompson (24:26.095):I think the first step is really just making sure everything is set up properly. Do you have your UTMs set up—assuming you're using GA, which most people are? Some people use Adobe or other sources of truth, but most still have GA.There are obviously nuances and other ways to do it, but in general, you should make sure that your UTMs are structured appropriately within your affiliate program so everything flows into Google Analytics in a way that lets you match it up with your platform data.Otherwise, you're missing visibility into traffic driven by partner—relative to one another. You might also miss out on more advanced attribution models. That's the foundation to build on top of if you want to optimize your partnerships more thoughtfully. It's also very important to have that data available to share with the partners. Publishers don't know how much new traffic they're sending you. They don't get that feedback loop. The way we think about the data isn't just for internal use—we want to share it.We want to show partners the KPIs that are most valuable to the brand and ask: What can we do together to improve these metrics? If you give them that information, many partners are creative and clever and can come up with great solutions. But a lot of them have been trained to focus on the last click, maybe a higher conversion rate or AOV. And that training does a disservice to the partnership if you're not giving them better insight—and helping them succeed in ways that also help you.Kerry Curran, RBMA (26:36.182):Yes, definitely. To your point, all of it helps companies and brands drive better results and outcomes. So it's about having the right data—and doing smarter things with it.So thank you so much, Lacie. Many college leaders turned to civil discourse and dialogue programs in response to students protests that roiled campuses after the start of the Israel Hamas war. It's work that they have been doing for decades, but a big question around these programs is: how do we know they're working?   That question led to Raj Vinnakota, president of the Institute for Citizens and Scholars, an 80-year old non-profit that works with leaders in higher education, business and philanthropy to equip young people with the skills they need to be engaged citizens.    In 2023, the institute launched its College Presidents for Civic Preparedness initiative and its membership has grown to over 120 leaders from 2 and 4-year institutions in 35 states. Part of its mission is to develop ways to assess and measure the level of civil discourse and critical thinking on campuses.    In this interview, Raj talks with Sara Custer, editor in chief at Inside Higher Ed, about the grassroots beginnings of the program and how creating language around the concepts of free speech and open inquiry is important for engaging with stakeholders on both sides of the political divide.    This episode is sponsored by Grammarly. Sin is such a funny word. Short – but judgemental. And yet this thing called “sin” lies at the heart of Easter. Jesus died to pay for our sin. So what does that actually mean – “sin”?   Sin By Another Name This week we're still doing a retrospective on Easter and I thought we should ask a question. What makes Easter? Why did God do it? Why did God send His Son to die for you and me? Last week we saw that you and I are so incredibly precious to God. The Psalmist back in Psalm 8 asks the question. He says: I look up your huge skies, dark and enormous, you handmade the sky, the jewellery, the moon and the stars are mounted in their settings. Then I look at little old me and I wonder, why do you bother with us? Why do you take a second to look our way, God? It's a good question. And the answer is that we're so incredibly precious to God. And the more precious something or someone is, the more we do for that something or someone. Sadly in our world today, people pick the wrong things and make them precious. People pick wealth or they pick fame or they pick career or they pick status – always these external things – and they end up sacrificing their lives to them to no avail. But you and I are different. You and I are precious in the sight of God, in God's heart. And Easter is about Jesus on the Cross. Easter is about the most incredible sacrifice; the Son of God crucified, punished on our behalf. We've had a look at that already on the program over the last couple of weeks. But He was punished for you and for me. And for a long time I wondered, why? I mean, why did God go to those lengths? Look at me, look at you – we're not that bad. Okay, we're not perfect, at least I'm not, but isn't the whole ‘Easter, Cross, crucifixion' thing just a bit extreme? Christians talk a lot about "sin". Now for most of my life I thought of "sin" as being this really old-fashioned, stuffy, church concept. I mean, "sin"? Really? These days? Old fashioned, moralising, guilt trips. It belongs to a view of religion of the past that's not relevant today. People are writing books about it. A well known scientist by the name of C. Dawkins wrote a book called "The God Delusion" and someone who was writing that book up said this: The God Delusion makes a compelling case that belief in God is not just wrong but potentially deadly. And part of that is this notion that we have in the world today, that sin is some man-made religious concept. We live in a society that denies sin, whatever that might mean to you. Right? Wrong? Well they're fluid concepts, their circumstantial. It kind of depends what works for you. But the word "sin" – which I, for many years thought of as this stuffy, outdated concept – the word "sin" in the Bible literally means "to miss the mark". Today we say ‘missing the point of life'. And because of the society we live in – the society that puts ‘me' at the centre of my world, puts "you" at the centre of your world – we do whatever feels good to make us better and have more fun and more comfort. Okay, there's some social responsibility, but by and large we live in a selfish world. And in that society we kind of don't notice somehow that sin's going on. We notice the shotgun murders and that sort of thing, but in our lives day by day people deny the concept of sin. There's a wonderful parable called, "the boiling frog syndrome". You've probably heard of it. The notion that if you have some boiling water and put a frog in it the frog will jump straight out because it notices the water is hot. But if you begin with cold water and you gradually, gently heat the water the frog ultimately will die because he doesn't that the water is getting hot and it kills him. Global warming's a bit like that. I mean, we've been denying it for years. Governments and big business have been denying it because it's politically and economically expedient to keep pumping greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, slowly cooking the earth. It's been obvious but we've denied it. A while ago I went to see Al Gore's movie, "An Inconvenient Truth". Whatever your politics, whatever your views of matters "green" are, it's absolutely a "must see" if you didn't see it. He makes a point that the number of category 4 and 5 hurricanes have almost doubled in the past 30 years. The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled in the past decade. Malaria has spread to higher altitudes because of warming in places like the Columbian Andes – 7000 feet above sea level and at least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming by moving closer to the poles. It kind of paints a picture of a world out of control. It's so bent on consuming that we're prepared to destroy the planet. When we look at the facts they're obvious. The whole consumer treadmill, the economy based on greed, the boiling frog syndrome just denies that reality. We behave as though it doesn't exist. We do that with a lot of things. In the west where people are wealthy by global standards we ignore poverty, we ignore the wars and the starvation and the thousands of children that die every day of poverty. We just behave as though they don't exist. They still do but we just ignore them. The point of sin is that it's a bit like that boiling frog syndrome. It's deceptive. Through our selfishness we kind of rationalise; we deny the reality; we stick out heads in the sand and pretend. Well, it's not my problem. I'm not the one getting things wrong. The Apostle Paul in Romans Chapter 7 verse 11 writes this. He says: For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment deceived me and through the commandment put me to death. You see, sin is deceptive. In 2 Timothy Chapter 3 verse 13 he writes: Evil men and imposters will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. And Psalm 36 verse 2: With his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin. And that's right on the money. We kid ourselves. We try and behave as though sin doesn't exist. Just stop and think about the last 24 hours and say, what did I do to hurt someone? What did I do to step on someone? What did I do to ignore someone? What did I do that ruined their lives and my life? Come on, we are masters of self-deception. It doesn't matter how much we deny it, when we look around the world, around society, around our own lives, sin is alive and well. "Missing the point of life" is alive and well and people are slaves to it like lemmings jumping over a cliff and the price … the price is being robbed of life itself. It's walking around like a living dead. But God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him wouldn't perish but have eternal life. That … that right there is what Easter was all about.   Simply No Excuse I'm going to ask you, have you ever been pulled over by a policeman for speeding. "Driver, do you know why you've been pulled over? Do you realize that you were exceeding the speed limit by whatever it is?" I have, and it's a horrible feeling. And you know there is simply no excuse. Speeding kills – it's as simple as that. Imagine speeding and killing a child coming out of a school, or someone you love or an elderly person crossing the road. Measured against the consequences, speeding is crazy; it's ludicrous; there's just no way you can justify it or you can excuse it, the consequences of speeding is death. Yet most drivers speed every day. That attitude "I've got to get there, just got to get there. I'll save 30 seconds, I'll save 1 minute, I'll save 2 minutes off my journey." That attitude completely misses the point, doesn't it? And that's such a good example of sin. "Sin" means "missing the point". Come on, look at our lives, look at the stuff that we want to descend into – being selfish, being greedy, just lying a little bit, a bit of deception, pompous egos, treading on people, crushing them – and then do you know what we do? We rationalize it. We justify it. We say it's everybody else's fault. They don't measure up to my mark, or they did me wrong, or that person over there hurt me and that's why I had a go at them. Come on! It misses the point and in God's eyes there is simply no excuse. We began the program today with the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 8, looking up at the heavens and the stars wondering, "God who am I that you should even give me a second thought?" The Apostle Paul takes that one step further in Romans Chapter 1 and verse 20, and he writes this: For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities, His eternal power, His divine nature, they've been clearly seen being understood from what's been made, so we are without excuse. In other words, you look around and you can't help but come to the conclusion that God is God. It's like speeding. When we deny God, when we turn away from Him, when we say, "No, no, no, I'm going to live my life buddy", there's no excuse. It's blindingly, glimpsingly obvious. Look around. The fact that God created it all is so obvious; God's majesty and His love and His wonders shine out through all the things He's made. I've said before, we are masters of delusion and so we are. Somehow for years I rationalised it but in my heart of hearts I knew that God was God, I knew that Jesus was the Son of God, but we get used to the fact that our lives are missing the point. We get used to the fact that we're off doing stuff and ignoring God. And then we try even harder to have a life of meaning. We work harder to earn more money or more recognition or to get a better career or … even though in our heart of hearts we know it's never ever going to hit the mark. It's like we've become slaves to it, we've become addicted to this sin, this treadmill, and we're compelled to keep going in the same direction. Put yourself in God's shoes for a moment. He creates you and me out of love, in His own image, and He gives us in this universe on this earth that He's made for us – He gives us the freedom to accept or reject Him. And this freedom comes from His love too. And He watches you and me take our freedom and reject Him and miss the whole point of creation and then suffer the consequences. And we do suffer. Missing the point brings suffering. Sin has its consequences. Loneliness, pain, doubt, isolation, a lostness, hurts, no real sense of identity. We get to a point where we've completely lost sight of the fact that you and I have been created in God's image – to delight in Him. And let me tell you, when God sees us in that state His heart aches for us. I was reading a book in my personal time with God the other day. In the Book of Judges when Israel had rejected God so many times and they came to God because God had sent punishment on them. They were defeated and the Amorites were fighting against them, and God said, "No, forget it, you people have rejected me so many times, go worship your gods, go worship your idols, go and suffer the consequences." Then God looked down upon His people and He saw them suffering and the Bible says He just couldn't help Himself. He had to go and help them. That's what God is like. He loves us. He wants to bless us. And when He sees us suffering the consequences of sin He can't help himself. His heart aches for us. And that's why, just at the right time, when you and I were still powerless to deal with any of that, when we were still busy rejecting God, just at the right time Jesus Christ died for the ungodly. He dragged that Cross to Calvary, He allowed Himself to be nailed to it. He took the burdens, the consequences, the pain of my sin and your sin once and for all. He paid the price that you and I should pay and greater love has no man than to lay down His life for His friends. And whoever believes in Jesus, believes that's exactly what happened there on the Cross of Christ at Easter. They're set free from the burden and the consequences of their sin. If we believe that with our lives we are free to have a relationship with God. We don't have to live under the burden of sin anymore, as slaves to sin with our whole lives missing the point. The moment we believe in Jesus its ground zero, it's a clean slate; it's a start again fresh. When we look at the Cross of Christ and say, "I believe", God our Father says, "My child, I forgive you". When we put our faith in Him the gates of heaven are flung open wide and there's a wild party. You might say, "But Berni, I took that step years ago and look at my life!" And I say to you, have you taken that step with your life. I mean, do you live your life in that reality every day? Come on, that's what Easter is. It's Easter every day because by shedding Jesus blood on the Cross, by His sacrifice, you and I have forgiveness every day. Through that empty tomb you and I have a new life every day – today, tomorrow, the next day, for all eternity. That's it. That's Easter.   A Personal Call Well you know, you and I are looking back on Easter. Here we are, a few weeks past Easter and you might think, why is this guy still yapping on about Easter? Why are we still looking back at Easter? Come on we've had the chocolate, we've had the long weekend. We've moved on, let's get on with the rest of the year. Let's get on with something new and fresh and exciting. But hang on a minute, I just believe that it's Easter every day. I just believe that God wants us to live and walk and breathe and have our being in the reality of the fact that God became man in the person of Jesus Christ and that He suffered and died to pay for my sin and your sin. He took our death, the death that we deserved, on His shoulders and He died that death for us. He rose again and He gave us a new life – a forgiven life, a life eternally in relationship with Him. You see, you and I are so incredibly precious in God's eyes. Do we get that? He loves us so much He's given us this freedom to choose Him or to reject Him. And you know, every day we have that choice in the way we think, where we put our trust, what goes on in our heart, what we do, what we say, everything. Jesus died for every person who's ever lived – for you, for me and for billions of other people. That's a huge thing. He bore all of our sin. Have you done something wrong and you woke up the next day – maybe you've hurt someone, you had an argument, you said something you wish you could take back right? – and you woke up the next day and you realise, you remember back the stupid thing you did and the consequences and the pain and the hurt. You know, you've hurt someone you love, whatever it is, and you just have to live through the consequences of that. It's sin. It's a terrible feeling. You know what I'm talking about. Imagine if you could experience it in one time, the consequences of all the mistakes, every sin you have made in your whole life. How would that feel? It would be unbearable wouldn't it? If we could feel all our sin and the consequences of it in one moment I think it would kill us. It would be unbearable. So now put yourself in Jesus' sandals for a minute. He bares the pain, the punishment and the consequences of all the sins of the whole of the human race for all time at that one place on the Cross. My, how Jesus suffered. We just can't see this as some huge macro act of God in history – it is that but if we restrict it to that we miss the point. Jesus died for the one, He died for me, He died for you to set us free from the slavery of sin, the slavery of living a life that completely misses the point, the slavery of living a life that will end in eternal separation from God. You know the worse bit about slavery? It's the fear, it's the lurking knowledge deep down inside that we're missing the point of our lives. And at the end of the day there will be a reckoning. That makes the life of sin a true life of slavery. In Hebrews Chapter 2 verse 14 it says this: Since we're human, of flesh and blood, Jesus too shared in our humanity so that by His death He might destroy Him who holds the power of death (that's the devil) and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by the fear of death. For this reason He had to be made like His brothers and sisters in every way in order that He might pay the price for the sins of the people. How many people live life in the fear of dying? I used to. I don't any more because I know I believe in Jesus. I know that when I die I will go to be with the Lord my God, not because I'm such a great person but because I believe in Jesus. No more fear, no more lurking sense of a life without purpose, a life that's missing the whole point. Paul in Galatians Chapter 5 verse 1 says: It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. In other words, the reason Christ did what He did was to give us freedom. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. You know, we can run but we can't hide. You and I can pretend that it's not there. We can do the boiling frog thing and say, "Sin's not an issue in my life. There's no such thing any more in this day and age." But sin is a reality, sin is slavery, sin has consequences. We keep on doing those same old, same old, same old things chasing after money or fame, treading on people, hurting people, whinging about people, whatever it is, whatever your brand of sin whatever your Achilles heal is – we keep doing that and it has consequences, it ruins relationships, it ruins our lives and it misses the whole point. I want to ask you again today, have you given your life over to this truth. I mean day by day do you walk, think your thoughts, make your choices in the wonderful knowledge incredible gift of life. Jesus died for you. Jesus paid the price for you. Jesus, here and now is calling you to be free of the slavery of sin and death once and for all by putting your faith in Jesus. Not just a single one-time act but a life lived in the truth and reality that Jesus died for you, that you might be forgiven. Jesus rose from that grave for you so that you might have a life eternal. This is not about taking a guilt trip here. It's about God calling you to Himself through His Son. Do you want that more than anything? Do you want to be close to God? Do you want to be with Jesus for the rest of eternity from this moment forward? Why don't you pray this prayer with me? Father,I've heard the message of Jesus today. I believe that Jesus died on the Cross for me and I want to accept Him as my Saviour, the one who set me free from the slavery of sin. But not just my Saviour, I want to accept Him as my Lord. I give my life, God, into your hands for you to be the Lord of my life above all other things, all other hopes and dreams and desires. Father, I'm so sorry for the things I've done in the past. I turn away from them right now. I want you to fill me up to overflowing with your Holy Spirit. Father give me the new life Jesus died and rose again to give me. I want to know Your peace and Your freedom and Your joy and Your love. I give my life to you in Jesus name. In Jesus name, Amen. This is where life is at. Not some rule-based constricting religion – freedom … freedom from all the things that we are enslaved to that ruin our lives. Freedom from wandering aimlessly through life towards a disastrous end, Freedom from the consequence of our sin and into a life with purpose and meaning and joy and wonder and glory, a life that only gets better and better, a life that goes for all eternity. Will there be trials in this life? Is it tough following Jesus? You bet you. Jesus never promises a bed of roses, He never promises a cake walk. In fact Jesus promises that when we put our faith in Him, there will be trials, there will be people and spiritual forces that come against us. But ultimately putting our faith in Jesus is about a new life. That's it. That's what Easter is all about. That's what Jesus was doing on the cross for me and you. All we need to do is to hear that message and let it sink into our hearts and hold onto that deep inside and never ever let it go. Easter. Jesus. Freedom. Life.

Andrew Pollard, President and CEO of Blackrock Silver (TSX.V:BRC – OTCQX:BKRRF), joins me to discuss some of the recent high-grade silver and gold assays returned from the reverse circulation Scout Drilling Program completed on the southeastern side of the DPB M&I Conversion area on its 100% owned Tonopah West project located in Nye and Esmeralda Counties, Nevada, United States.   We start off reviewing all the exploration work completed in last year's phase of the program with the 20,000 meters of M&I conversion drilling, and then focused on the additional 15,000 meters of drilling that has been added to this phase of the program.  In tandem with improving the continuity of mineralization, and converting resources from inferred to measured and indicated, there is also a fair amount of expansion drilling underway.   Andrew outlined that the assays from their reverse circulation scout drill program have returned significant gold & silver values in 7 drillholes that have successfully expanded the footprint of mineralization up to 1,200 meters to the east of the existing DPB resource toward the historic Ohio mine. These intercepts cover a new zone of mineralization not included in the 2024 resource that may impact the upcoming DPB South resource update (Q3, 2025);   Hole TW25-128 returned 9.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 1,198 g/t silver over 1.52-metres (2,063 g/t silver equivalent (AgEq)) from 292 meters in the Ohio area;   Hole TW25-133 returned multiple thick zones of mineralization including 10.46 g/t gold and 10.6 g/t silver over 4.57-metres (952 g/t AgEq) including 1.52 meters grading 21.45 g/t gold and 15.7 g/t silver (1,948 g/t AgEq) from 309 meters   Next we reviewed the rising grade profile and shallow nature of some of the new mineralized zones that have been tested in the Measured and Indicated portion of the drill program from late last year and slated to complete next month.  Results continue to exceed expectations at the Merten-Bermuda vein group in the DPB South area, confirming high-grade silver and gold connects across significant length at higher-than-average grades. These results should positively impact the front end of the mine plan by adding higher confidence, higher grade mineralization at more shallow depths, and will be featured in the M&I resource update due out in September of Q3. The expansion drill results will keep being released through this year to be able to update that portion with a second resource update slated for Q1 2026, and then an updated PEA incorporating all that data is planned for Q2 of 2026.   We wrap up discussing the permitting progress underway on this patented land in Nevada, and how the new executive order from the Trump administration could positively affect the funding and development process for the Tonopah West Project.     If you have any follow up questions for Andrew regarding Blackrock Silver, then please email them into me at Shad@kereport.com.    * In full disclosure, Shad is shareholder of Blackrock Silver at the time of this recording.   Click here to visit the Blackrock Silver website to read over the recent news we discussed.

Luke 12:13-21 - "Beware of Covetousness"

Luke 12:1-12 begins with Jesus giving a warning to Hisdisciples to, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy”.Jesus said, “Beware of hypocrisy”! Then He teaches us how to overcomethe temptation of hypocrisy and compromising our Christian faith. Hypocrisy isa terrible sin that destroys our responsibility and opportunities to be a faithfulwitness for the Lord Jesus to the lost world around us. We should take thiswarning of our Lord to heart every day! Today in Luke 12:13-21, the Lord is giving us anotherwarning! Here Jesus says, “Take heed and beware of covetousness!” Atthis point, Jesus is approached by a man in the crowd who interrupted Him by askingHim as the Rabbi or Teacher, to solve a family problem and help settle a legaldispute with him and his brother over their inheritance. Rabbis were expectedto help settle legal matters, but Jesus refused to get involved. Why? BecauseHe knew that no answer He gave would solve the real problem, which wascovetousness in the hearts of the two brothers.  The "you" in Luke 12:14 is plural, which meantJesus is speaking to both of the brothers. As long as both men were greedy, nosettlement would be satisfactory. Their greatest need was to have their heartschanged. Like too many people today, they wanted Jesus to serve them but not tosave them. Jesus also knew the crowd needed to hear this warning, so, “He saidto them, Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's lifedoes not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."  Jesus knew we needed to hear this warning tooand we should “take heed” and listen carefully to what He has to say about thissin of covetousness. Someone said that covetousness is an unquenchable thirstfor getting more and more of something we think we need in order to be trulysatisfied. It may be a thirst for money or the things that money can buy, oreven a thirst for position and power. Jesus made it clear that true life doesnot depend on an abundance of possessions. He did not deny that we have certainbasic needs (Matt. 6:32; 1 Tim. 6:17). He only affirmed that we will not makelife richer by acquiring more of these things. Mark Twain once defined "civilization" as "alimitless multiplication of unnecessary necessities," and he was right. Infact, many Christians are infected with covetousness and do not know it. Theythink that Paul's admonition in 1 Timothy 6 applies only to the "rich andfamous." Measured by the living standards of the rest of the world, mostbelievers in America are indeed wealthy people. Jesus then told this parable of a rich farmer to reveal thedangers that lurk in a covetous heart. As we read and study it, we will noticeseveral things. We need to recognize that Jesus did not say this wealthy manwas a fool because he was rich. He was not a fool because he worked hard and wasfugal and saved a lot of money that he now had available for himself. No, Jesussays he was a fool because after he acquire this money and goods, that he didn'tknow what to do with it. This no doubt is a sin that many of us have in America. Thepoorest person in America is richer that ninety-five percent of the rest of theworld. We tend to waste money, spend money, and invest money to gain more moneyand a better living, but we spend it and invest it for temporal rather than theeternal. I love this quote by the missionary Jim Elliot, “He is nofool who gives up that which he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.”As we think about this warning from Jesus, we need to look into our own heartstoday and make sure we are not seeking to be satisfied with money orpossessions. Their satisfaction is only temporary and will not meet the deepestneed of our soul that can only be satisfied by our relationship with JesusChrist!  Today, may God help us to “beware of covetousness” and seekJesus first and foremost (Matthew 6:33).  God bless!

Jackie's lonely deep-space post enjoys delicious company.Based on a post by Alizzia. Listen to the Podcast at Steamy Stories.Jackie awoke to a twinkling, navy-blue night. She lay still, perceived the idle murmer of gulls and surf, the sweet air, the soft and runny sand against her back. With every little rush of the surf, a liquid touch caressed her. Startlingly chill. Goosebumps prickled her naked form. She pulled a long, resuscitating breath, sat up.She nearly gasped. Out on the surf, submerged to the dimpled saddle of his hips, stood a bare and strapping figure. Head tipped to the moon, he raised and clasped corded hands, stretched. He twisted, hummed as he arched the broad, inverted triangle of his lats. Yawning luxuriantly, he turned, dropped his arms, smiled at Jackie.Jackie's pulse fluttered. She returned the crinkled hazel eyes' smile. The figure blushed a hint, turned a bashful eye to the sea. He approached. Surf split and foamed about his hips, thighs, knees, ankles. All softly corded, olive, and bare.He stopped inches from Jackie's toes, let his gaze drag over her, slow. She blushed in return, twisted a little, pulled and bent her knees to touch. Responding, his eyes flicked to her face, stopped there. Though not a turn of betrayed sentiment showed on his lips, a soft bundle of creases remained at the corners of his eyes, somehow more intense. He lingered on her mouth, nose, eyes, canted his head just a hint. A hoarse, longing sigh rose from his chest. Some melted excitement splashed into Jackie's chest and belly. Returning the gaze in full measure, she straightened her legs, arms, lay back on the sand. She raised a challenging brow.Slow, the figure knelt, touched one knee to the beach, then the other. He straddled just one of Jackie's legs, bent, placed heavy hands beside her head. Jackie could hear the wet sand squish under his weight. He bent ever so close, stopped, just breathed. Not a slip of skin touched between them. Droplets fell from his locks and long nose, fell just inches before rolling down Jackie's cheeks. He smelt of salt and earth.Jackie's lips parted involuntarily, asymmetrically. Never breaking her gaze, she stretched, wriggled just a bit, tilted her groin and chin. She heard the figure's pupils dilate, heard his shuddering breath, sensed his heavy arousal. A small smile of glee split her face. She squirmed in the sand beneath him, like a sea star, free beneath his hanging weight. Then, suddenly deadly serious, she stopped. With dearest care, she shifted just a little, pulled the inside of a smooth thigh to meet his knee. The figure shuddered, shut his eyes. Jackie struck, pushed her lips into his. For a moment, she could taste the warmth, the salt. Then, the world spun. The figure disappeared. The stars went out. The black sky fell away. Jackie awoke to a riveted, titanium ceiling studded with white lights. She flailed momently, gasping wetly. Tubes hung before her face, wet with the spit of her own trachea. Pressure lifted from her wrists, ankles, and abdomen. She began to float from the padded pod where she lay.Jackie's clumsy fingers found rails on either edge of the pod. She held herself within, panted. She swallowed dryly, blinked, surveyed the pod, her white sleep shorts and top, the room about her. After a moment, she groaned in recognition and disappointment. Any arousal she'd experienced had flown with her dream, left her with naught but a sodden crotch in a chilly room."Good morning, Specialist Jaqueline Kent," said a voice, at once sonorous and very dull.Jackie tried to sit up and look over the side of the bed. The inertia of the action strained her fingers. Her hands split from the rail. She floated from the bed, frowned.Across the room was a crop-haired man in red. His cotton jumpsuit strained where it failed to accommodate his chest and back. He had cold, blue eyes and a pointed nose. He held onto a support rail, feet firmly affixed to the vaguely-concave floor in magnet boots."Who the fu..." coughed Jackie, barely audible. She rasped. "The fuck are you?" She inadvertently turned upside down in the microgravity, crossed her arms over her floating tits."My pardon, Specialist Kent. My designation is Sam.""You're..." said Jackie, trying to find a more dignified stance. She failed, ended up sort of weakly kicking off the side wall. She made a face as she clipped the stasis pod, wheeled into Sam. Her face collided with his broad chest. He caught her there. For a moment, Jackie's cheek and nose pressed into him. He was firm, but soft. He smelled of soap and salt."You're a service unit, an organic android?" she said, frowning, as Sam pulled her away from him."Indeed.""Why isn't this place being spun for gravity?" raged Jackie, shuffling from his grasp. Strong fingers released from her upper arms."The habitat is spun for only eight hours of the 24-hour cycle, per regulated health minimums. Generator and battery capacity are prioritized for the lighthouse array, rather than gravity rotors. The next spin commences tonight, in several minutes," said Sam, smiling thinly. "For now, please accept these mag boots.""Fine," said Jackie, cold. She bumped against the wall, struggled to pull a boot on. The other floated away. She made a face, huffed, weak from stasis sleep. "Please, allow me," said Sam. For just a moment, Jackie twisted her face as if to protest, but relented. She moved close, allowed the android to wrap an arm around each of her calves in turn, slip a boot over the foot, and strap it tight. For a moment, she relaxed, felt the long hands wrap near-entirely round her bare ankles. They were firm, but not rough. Sam moved away. "There."Jackie tentatively pushed away, set a foot to the floor, felt it stick. "Thanks," she said, quietly."Allow me to show you around the lighthouse. Afterwards, you may recuperate. It will only take a moment. The station is not large, and I understand by your Company service record that you have served in this role before.""There wasn't an android on my last lighthouse. I do this job because I like the solitude."Sam looked genuinely regretful. "I am sorry. You must understand I was attached to this station by the company. I am their property.""Yeah, yeah," said Jackie, seeing his face. A spike of empathy broke through her grumpiness. "You don't seem like bad company, anyway. What model are you?" she said, as Sam opened the hatch for them to exit."I am a Serault Corporation Ceres-6," he said, stepping through. Jackie followed. The concave floor of the room beyond was double-walled transparent alloy. It acted as a gigantic window out onto the red and purple nebula which the lighthouse was meant to warn of. Along the walls, set so one might look down into the nebula, were leather benches, a few pod chairs, and a bed with microgravity webbing, all somewhat worn. Crimson light played over the white upholstery and sheets.Jackie looked over the living quarters, far nicer than she'd had before. She gaped at the nebula for a moment, watched a streak of magenta light cross Sam's eyes and face. "So, you're one of those white-blooded ones?""My internal serum is a sucrose base. It serves modified roles in all my body fluids. It is indeed an off-white.""Sucrose? A real sweetie, huh?""If indeed it were to be tasted, my serum would taste of sugar." He looked her in the eyes, terribly sincere.Jackie looked away, grinned uncomfortably. "Right. Have any other special features?" she said, sarcastic."As Ceres-6 models are designed for small crew missions, our personality precepts are mutable. We change in reaction or in request to facilitate maximum compatibility.""Ah, well. Good to know." Jackie looked about awkwardly, arms crossed. "I take it this is my room?""Indeed, this is the lighthouse keeper's room," he blinked at her, slow."And where do you sleep?""Though I do not often enter my hibernation cycle, I have a pod in the crew maintenance room we just exited."Jackie suddenly uncrossed her arms, waved one about. "Listen, do you need to stare me straight in the eyeballs all the time? It's freaking me out.""Would you prefer I focus on a different portion of your body?" said Sam. He concernedly looked at her left foot."Like, shit. No. Just let your eyes wander like a normal person, okay?""Understood," said Sam. He glanced at her eyes, then about the room, then down into the floor-window."A little less wildly, maybe.""Yes, Specialist Kent." His eyes flitted over Jackie, focused momently on the nipples poking through her airy sleep top. Jackie crossed her arms, blushed. "And call me Jackie, not Specialist Kent.""Understood, Jackie.""And smile a bit more.""Of course," he said, doing so. Jackie shivered, not from the chill air. The lines which pulled about the android's eyes and nose bridge turned the cold face quite warm. It stayed that way."Well," said Jackie, hesitating. "We're getting on better already," she said, only half as sarcastic as she meant. "Can we continue the tour? I could use a shower.""Of course." He continued to a hatch on the other side of the room. Jackie stepped through as well. They entered a circular room with a ladder in the center. The walls were ringed with computer panels and other hatches."This is the primary communication room. Here, you-""Sam, I know how to use the comms.""My apologies," he said. "This hatch leads to the EVA room. This one to the galley. This one to life support. The ladder leads up to the secondary systems and down to engineering.""I take it life support has the shower?""Indeed.""Great. Anything else?""No. We commence operation tomorrow morning, approximately an hour after the eight-hour spin." He broke off for a moment, canted his head. His eyes trailed over Jackie's bare abdomen, likely by chance. She squirmed, regardless. Sam raised his eyebrows, continued. "The spin, which I believe should commence now."There was a jerk, a hollow whine in the hull of the station, a rush in Jackie's ears. Jackie and Sam slowly settled under the centrifugal forces. Jackie adjusted her shorts, surreptitiously. "I'm going to shower.""There are requisite uniforms and undergarments waiting for you.""Gee, thanks for laying out my underwear.""Of course, Jackie."Jackie shook her head, kicked off the mag boots, stomped to the life support bay. She shut the hatch with a good deal of force. The bathroom was behind a secondary hatch, near the spare air purification tanks and the waterless laundry engine. It was stark, shiny white, floored with nobly grip tiles. There were indeed clothes laid out for her: A red jumpsuit and white boyshorts. Jackie passed them just a glance before dropping her shorts and top. Naked, she passed the small mirror, sneered at her baggy eyes, her body, depilated for stasis sleep. She stepped into the shower. A touch panel reading "Shower Ration: 2 Minutes," met her."Same old station-life," she groaned, punched the Start key.A vertical shower hit from above. Mist quickly filled the room. Jackie moaned for the heat, turned her head and chest to face the stream. Little rivulets poured from her nose, chin, nipples. At these she looked askance, gently surprised. She cupped, rubbed one between thumb and forefinger experimentally, sighed a little. She repeated this with both, sighed a lot. Doing so, suddenly quite determined, she stepped back and leaned back, pressed her rump against the white wall. One hand, the right one, slipped between her hairless legs, which she widened just sufficiently. They wobbled a bit, weak from stasis. She leaned harder against the wall, slipped a middle finger over and through her dripping vulva, split the lips, found it dripping inside, too. The left hand joined, found the clit, elicited a hum, a bitten lip. Several wet seconds later, a groan. Jackie's face tipped upwards. Her thighs twitched. Droplets hit her screwed-up eyelids, her open mouth. The water stopped abruptly. Jackie jerked upright. "Motherfucker," she said, a cry fading into a mumble. She leaned through the steam, slightly pigeontoed, red the touch panel. It said, "Time until next Shower Ration: 18 hours." Jackie rubbed her temples, groaned resignedly. The cold of the station was already seeping into the shower. Quickly, she dried, performed her remaining ablutions, threw on the insulated red jumpsuit over still-aching nipples.Jackie emerged to find Sam in the life-support bay. He was shirtless, jumpsuit rolled at the waste, supine beneath a large conduit emitting steam. Droplets rolled over his long fingers and corded forearms, dripped and slid over an expanse of blond-furred chest. Veins stood out in his neck and arms, swollen from the effort of having just slotted a hefty filter into place. As Jackie approached, he turned."Jackie," he said, emerging carefully from under the conduit. He panted gently, lips parted just a tad. They were pink, creased. Human. "How are we?""I'm fine, thanks," said Jackie, forcibly pulling her eyes to his. She looked for a moment longer, watched a vein pulse on his temple. "If you don't mind me saying, you're damn realistic, aren't you?""I am, on the exterior, functionally and visually indistinguishable from a human man.""Yup," said Jackie, moving to leave."Jackie?"She turned back a moment. "Yes?""Is the station too cold for your comfort?" His eyes brows, cream and near-invisible, were arched in concern.Jackie squinted, raised an eyebrow. "No. It's fine.""Good. And, do make sure to have the appropriate post-stasis ration packs. I have concerns your flight here has left you low on muscle mass."Jackie turned away. "Yeah."She opened the hatch to her quarters, shut it with a huff. One protein pack later, she had stripped off her jumpsuit, dead asleep.Hours later, Jackie woke to a crimson nebulaic glow. She floated, bleary, in the microgravity webbing. The vibrating hum of the spin-rotors had died. Now, there was merely silence. Dully, Jackie moved to turn over under the webbing. As her thighs shifted, she felt a tingling wetness from some dream she couldn't remember. Idly, half asleep, she let a fingertip creep down her belly, trace over the soaked groin of her shorts, begin to prod, massage. She hummed, rubbed her cheek into the netting.Nearby, a hatch creaked open. Jackie jerked awake, hang back her hand, froze."Ready to get to work, Specialist Jackie?"Jackie groaned. "Yup," she said. Sam nodded, smiled, retreated into the comms room. The hatch clacked shut.Only after clambering out of the sleep webbing did Jackie realize her floating tits had been in full view. The Corporation had some odd opinions about bras in space. Jackie shook her head. "Chill, girl. Robot doesn't care."The proceeding five hours were a floating blur. Jackie stood in the comms room, directed ship after ship in non-collision courses around the nebula. The job was a steep and constant series of calls and responses to incoming and waiting craft. Sam assisted."Astroliner 313, after well veer, climb straight ahead five degrees Kepler. Thank you.""Jackie, we have a Corsican military craft requesting expedited access," said Sam."Tell him to follow the greens and stand by for expedite.""EES Pearl River is expressing a complaint.""Send them the docs. They can deal with the Company." She changed channels. "Yes, Arrowtine Sirius, you have permission to take route bravo in five. Thank you.""Jackie, I'm directing Designate 476 to hold. Their cargo requires maximum berth.""Thanks, Sam."Sam smiled thinly at her. He had started doing that more often. His eyes stayed crinkled kindly, when he did. Jackie kept watching him.Abruptly, Sam frowned. "Jackie, we have an error.""What?""New connections are timing out. We have a receiver down from d

We've been conditioned to think that if we can't measure it, it doesn't matter. But what if the opposite is true? What if the most meaningful things—art, kindness, justice, human connection—can never be captured in numbers? In this episode, I argue that we need to do away with KPIs entirely because they'll never truly measure real impact. I reference Loretta Ross and her work on “calling in”, share my own experiences—like a book I discussed in my monthly book club (https://youtu.be/vPgWM5rOFqA?si=W3sJ1GFyVvsLC1Xt) and the premiere of my second film—where the ripple effect of our actions is unknowable.Takeaways:

Andrew Pollard, President and CEO of Blackrock Silver (TSX.V:BRC – OTCQX:BKRRF), joins us to review some of the recent high-grade silver and gold assays returned from both the Measured & Indicated drilling as well as the expansion drilling from the ongoing exploration program at their 100% controlled Tonopah West Project, in Nevada.   We start off reviewing some of the recent multiple +1 kg/t AgEq intercepts in the first assays from the resource expansion program at Tonopah West, stepping out 500km of strike to test and start to connect the areas between DPB and the Northwest Extension. 15,000 meters of more drilling have been added to this phase of the program, which as already seen 20,000 meters completed last year.   RESOURCE EXPANSION PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:   TXC25-123 returned assays up to 23.47 g/t Au and 2,223 g/t Ag for 4,335 g/t AgEq over 0.31 metres within a 3.05 metre zone grading 225 g/t Ag and 2.41 g/t Au for 442 g/t AgEq;   TXC24-113 yielded 7.14 g/t Au and 614 g/t Ag for 1,257 g/t AgEq over 0.31 metres, and 1.68 metres of 364 g/t Ag and 0.03 g/t Au for 367 g/t AgEq;   TXC25-124 returned 8.06 metres grading 1.23 g/t Au and 122 g/t Ag for 233 g/t AgEq, including 0.76 metres of 779 g/t Ag and 7.85 g/t Au for 1,486 g/t AgEq;   Andrew outlined that the NW Step Out target shows potential to add an additional 30 to 50% of new resource to Tonopah West, allowing for the capture and inclusion of the NW resource (1.0M tonnes containing an inferred 6.4M ozs Ag and 63k ozs Au or 12.1M ozs AgEq) into a future updated preliminary economic assessment on Tonopah West; and resource update.  There are 7 additional core holes planned to reduce the spacing to 50-metre drill centers along a 450 meter portion of the trend.   Next we reviewed the rising grade profile and shallow nature of some of the new mineralized zones that have been tested in the Measured and Indicated portion of the drill program from late last year and slated to complete next month.  Results continue to exceed expectations at the Merten-Bermuda vein group in the DPB South area, confirming high-grade silver and gold connects across significant length at higher-than-average grades. These results should positively impact the front end of the mine plan by adding higher confidence, higher grade mineralization at more shallow depths, and will be featured in the M&I resource update due out in Q3. There are still about 17 drill assays pending at the lab to be released over the next couple months.   The expansion drill results will keep being released through this year to be able to update that portion of the resource in Q1 2026, and then an updated PEA incorporating all that data is planned for Q2 of 2026.    We wrap up discussing the permitting progress underway on this patented land in Nevada, and how the company has a study underway to break ground on an underground exploration decline in 2027, as well as complete test mining and extract a bulk sample from the shallowest and highest-grade stopes from the Bermuda-Merten vein group (collectively, "DPB South") at an average undiluted grade of 981 g/t silver equivalent (AgEq).*   If you have any follow up questions for Andrew regarding Blackrock Silver, then please email them into us at Fleck@kereport.com or Shad@kereport.com.    *In full disclosure, Shad is shareholder of Blackrock Silver at the time of this recording.   Click here to visit the Blackrock Silver website to read over the recent news we discussed.

James Atterholt, USGS Observations of broad-scale lithospheric structure and large earthquakes are often made with sparse measurements and are low resolution. This makes interpretations of the processes that shape the lithosphere fuzzy and nonunique. Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) is an emergent technique that transforms fiber-optic cables into ultra-dense arrays of strainmeters, yielding meter-scale resolution over tens of kilometers for long recording periods. Recently, new techniques have made probing fiber-measured earthquake wavefields for signatures of large-scale deformation and dynamic behavior possible. With fibers in the Eastern California Shear Zone and near the Mendocino Triple Junction, I use DAS arrays to measure a diversity of tectonic-scale phenomena. These include the length scale over which the Garlock Fault penetrates the mantle, the plumbing system of the Coso Volcanic Field at the crust-mantle boundary, the topographic roughness of the Cascadia Megathrust, and the time-dependent rupture velocity of the 2024 M7 Cape Mendocino earthquake. Dense measurements vastly improve the clarity with which we can view these processes, offering new insights into how the lithosphere evolves and what drives the behavior of large earthquakes.

With many macro headwinds for the wine world, Gino Colangelo, founder of Colangelo PR, felt the negative and often poorly fact-checked press around alcohol and health posed an existential threat. Teaming with Karen McNeil of The Wine Bible and fellow PR leader Kimberly Charles, they founded Come Over October, a campaign to create a positive narrative around wine. With freely available media assets and over 120 partners, the movement, in its first stretch, has shown the power of focusing on the positive elements of wine.  Detailed Show Notes: Macro wine challenges include marijuana, Ozempic, and RTDs, but “no alcohol is healthy” messages from WHO and other gov't organizations potentially pose an existential threat to the industryCome Over October (“COO”) foundingCampaign to advocate for wineCommission research - 60%+ 21-39-year-olds would change consumption if alcohol health guidelines changed, 60%+ participate in Dry January or Sober October (which equates to 17% of the year)Karen McNeil, writer of The Wine Bible, got backlash over post against Dry January and ideated Come Over OctoberKimberly Charles, owner of an SF wine PR firm, joined as co-founderStarted the company in spring 2024 (Come Together, a Community for Wine) as a mission-driven company to advocate for wineFundamental principlesHad to reach consumersNo negativity towards other alcoholic beveragesInvolve everyone in the wine worldThe goal for success: turning the narrative around wine positive (e.g., more articles on the social benefits of wine)Measured by impressions of negative vs. positive articles about wineIn a battle for hearts and minds vs just getting the facts rightAsked for two things from partnersModest check - $1-10k to pay for campaign, website, social media, media asset creationActivation - use campaign assets (free to all) to run a COO campaignExample activationsTotal Wine - in-store signage, direct marketing, social media postsConstellation Brands - bought in-store radio ads for 800 Kroger stores under the COO banner (promoting Kim Crawford, Meiomi, & The Prisoner with Karen McNeil doing voiceover) and reversed negative sales trends in storesJackson Family - free tasting, events, cash support for COOCampaign success metrics120 companies participated>1,000 retail stores engaged (e.g., Kroger, Total Wine, Gary's)~$100k donated media (e.g., Wine Enthusiast, Vinepair, Wine Spectator)Next Campaign - Spring 2025Focus on the food messageDifferentiate wine as food vs alcoholContinue togetherness messageBring in chefs, restaurantsThen roll back into OctoberWould like to hire a Director to run the companyHealth debateLoneliness epidemic - 30% of males don't have close friendsWine has a unique ability for positive wellness in bringing people togetherDoes the industry need a positive health message/research to turn things around truly? Interview with Michael Konnert, President & CEO of Vizsla Silver Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/vizsla-silver-tsxvvzla-all-known-questions-answered-6110Recording date: 3rd February 2025Vizsla Silver represents a unique investment opportunity in the silver sector, combining robust financials, clear development momentum, and significant growth potential. The company's recent transition from explorer to developer has been backed by several strategic decisions that differentiate it from peers in the precious metals space. At the core of Vizsla's investment case is its financial strength, with approximately C$130 million (US$90+ million) in treasury. This substantial cash position wasn't just opportunistic fundraising - it represents a deliberate strategy to de-risk the project's development pathway and provide flexibility in execution timing. As CEO Michael Konnert emphasizes, this approach ensures the company won't face pressure for discounted financings at crucial development stages. The company's flagship project in Sinaloa, Mexico, demonstrates compelling economics with an industry-leading NPV to CAPEX ratio of 5x. Recent resource growth of 43% in the Measured & Indicated category, now totaling over 222 million ounces, provides strong foundational support for the upcoming feasibility study. The project's sub-$9 AISC positions it to generate substantial margins across various silver price scenarios.Development progress is evident in the ongoing test mine, which represents more than just exploration - it's the permanent production access being developed ahead of schedule. This strategic approach to development, learning from successful predecessors like SilverCrest, aims to de-risk the crucial startup phase by building significant ore stockpiles before mill construction begins.Near-term catalysts include the feasibility study expected in the second half of 2025, ongoing permitting progress, and potential construction commencement in the first half of 2026. The company targets production for the second half of 2027, with project payback potentially as quick as six months at current silver prices.Beyond the initial development project, Vizsla offers substantial exploration upside across its expanded 30,000-hectare land package in the Sinaloa Silver Belt. The company's strategy of district consolidation, rather than external M&A, focuses value creation within a proven geological terrain. What makes Vizsla particularly compelling in the current market is the scarcity of quality silver development projects. As Konnert notes, "There's really only a handful of development stories at all in silver, and there's really only a small few, Vizsla certainly included, that have any real economic value."This positioning, combined with silver's positive supply-demand dynamics and its role as both a precious and industrial metal, creates a unique investment opportunity in the silver sector. For investors seeking exposure to silver with a clear path to production, strong management execution, and multiple avenues for value creation, Vizsla presents a compelling investment case backed by substantial financial resources and strategic development planning.—Learn more: https://cruxinvestor.com/companies/vizsla-silver-corpSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Section 1: Introduction (0:00 - 5:30) Dr. Valentin Fuster introduces a special issue on Prevention, covering societal and individual prevention aspects and key cardiovascular risk factors. He highlights issues like medication adherence, obesity, and the need for better education and healthcare systems. Section 2: Prevention in Society (5:30 - 35:30) Adherence to Medications The PURE trial shows low medication adherence (31% at follow-up) across 17 countries, despite technological advancements in diagnostics. Barriers include low health literacy and inadequate healthcare systems. Social Determinants of Health Social deprivation leads to worse cardiovascular outcomes, especially among sexual minorities in the U.S. The editorial calls for more equitable healthcare access and anti-stigma efforts. Environmental Factors: Aircraft Noise Higher aircraft noise exposure is linked to worse heart health, urging noise reduction policies for vulnerable populations. Section 3: Prevention in Individuals (35:30 - 55:30) Sedentary Behavior Even with exercise, high sedentary time (over 10.6 hours a day) increases cardiovascular risk. Reducing sedentary time can significantly lower heart disease risk. Intensive Lifestyle Interventions for Diabetes Weight loss and lifestyle changes improve cardiac biomarkers and reduce cardiovascular risk in type 2 diabetes patients. Section 4: Risk Factor Impacts (55:30 - 1:10:00) Hyperlipidemia & Obesity Hyperlipidemia and obesity management, including medications like semaglutide, play key roles in preventing cardiovascular disease. The 2024 ESC hypertension guidelines are also crucial in risk reduction.

I was surprised to see someone with such experience in the pharmaceutical industry say this, because it goes against how I understood the FDA to work. My model goes: FDA procedures require certain bureaucratic tasks to be completed before approving drugs. Let's abstract this into “processing 1,000 forms”. Suppose they have 100 bureaucrats, and each bureaucrat can process 10 forms per year. Seems like they can approve 1 drug per year. If you fire half the bureaucrats, now they can only approve one drug every 2 years. That's worse! https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/bureaucracy-isnt-measured-in-bureaucrats
