“How stupid are Democrats?” Every time we think we've hit the bottom, they break out a jackhammer and start digging like they're hoping to discover a new layer of dumb beneath the mantle. Democrats don't just make mistakes—they build entire ecosystems of stupidity. They terraform reality until rational people look around thinking, “Did I miss a memo? Did the CDC issue a stupidity outbreak warning and I forgot to mask up?”I mean, we've reached the point where an overweight farm-animal-shaped dude—complete with a fully intact factory-issued reproductive package—wins the “World's Strongest Woman” contest. That's not progress; that's performance art for people who failed high-school biology but excelled in cosplay. And the best part? The contest officials were SHOCKED. “What? He's not a woman?” Like someone told them gravity was political.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
"Curiosity isn't a soft skill. It's a performance capability—and organizations are paying the price for ignoring it." Summary What if the most powerful leadership capability isn't having the right answers—but asking better questions? In this On the Brink with Andi Simon episode, Dr. Deborah Clary, author of The Curiosity Curve, explains why curiosity is a measurable driver of performance, engagement, and innovation—and how leaders can deliberately rebuild it to create stronger, more human-centered cultures. Why Curiosity May Be the Missing Link in Leadership and Culture Change In this episode of On the Brink with Andi Simon, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Deborah Clary, author of The Curiosity Curve and a purpose-driven leader whose work sits at the intersection of leadership development, organizational culture, and performance. What emerged from our conversation was both refreshing and deeply needed: a reminder that curiosity—something many leaders unintentionally abandon as they rise—may be the very capability organizations need most right now . Deborah's journey is anything but linear. Straight out of business school, she began her career not in a corporate office but as a route driver for Frito-Lay in Detroit—wearing a uniform, managing a route, and learning leadership from the inside out. That truck, she says, became her classroom. Over the next four decades, Deborah moved through senior roles at Coca-Cola, Jack Daniel's, and Humana, eventually earning a PhD focused on leadership development and organizational design. Yet it was her growing fascination with human behavior—what makes leaders effective and cultures thrive—that ultimately shaped her work today . What Is Curiosity—Really? Deborah defines curiosity simply but powerfully: being genuinely interested in yourself, in others, and in the situation at hand. It's not about having the right answers. It's about asking better questions—and staying open long enough to explore them. That distinction matters, especially in organizations where leaders often believe their role is to know, decide, and direct. As Deborah shared, many leaders become "incurious" not because they lack interest, but because time pressures, performance demands, and past success reinforce the idea that they must always have the answer. Over time, curiosity is treated like a luxury—when in fact, research shows it is a driver of performance . The Engagement Crisis—and Why Leaders Matter More Than Ever One of the most striking parts of our conversation focused on employee disengagement. Gallup data shows engagement levels at historic lows, with millennials—now a critical segment of the leadership pipeline—showing especially high levels of disengagement. When Deborah and her research team conducted focus groups, they found a consistent theme: "My leader doesn't know me—and doesn't seem to care to know me." This wasn't about surface-level recognition or personal details. Employees wanted leaders to be curious about their ideas, their aspirations, and how they could contribute meaningfully. In other words, they wanted leaders who asked thoughtful questions instead of simply providing directives. Curiosity, Measured—and Made Actionable What makes Deborah's work especially compelling is that curiosity isn't treated as a vague personality trait. Through a validated assessment, she measures curiosity across four dimensions: Exploration Openness to new ideas Inspirational creativity Focused engagement In one executive team she worked with, the results revealed a powerful—and uncomfortable—truth. While most executives scored high in curiosity, the CEO did not. The organization was struggling with innovation, market share, and retention. When the data was shared openly, the CEO recognized that his resistance—not the team—was the bottleneck. His willingness to acknowledge this became a breakthrough moment for the organization . That story underscores a central theme of the episode: leaders shape culture not by intention alone, but by how open—or closed—they are to curiosity. Watch our podcast on YouTube. From Short-Term Answers to Long-Term Leadership Curious leadership, Deborah explained, is about playing the long game. The short game is giving answers. The long game is exploring possibilities, testing ideas, and learning from outcomes—even when they fail. This requires psychological safety. Leaders must normalize statements like, "I don't know—let's explore this together."When leaders model curiosity, they give others permission to think, experiment, and grow. Over time, this builds confidence, ownership, and engagement across the organization . Why This Matters Now? In fast-changing markets, yesterday's solutions rarely solve tomorrow's problems. Yet many organizations still rely on outdated assumptions, rigid hierarchies, and fear of failure. As an anthropologist, I see this pattern often: cultures resist change even when change is essential. Curiosity interrupts that pattern. It helps leaders see what they've been missing, hear voices that have been quiet, and test new ways forward. In Deborah's words, curiosity is contagious—and learnable. It can be rebuilt, one question at a time. If you're a leader navigating uncertainty, disengaged teams, or stalled innovation, this conversation offers both insight and hope. You don't need all the answers. But you do need the courage to ask better questions. And that may be exactly what helps you—and your organization—get off the brink. Banned in most prisons! That feels like a point in the book's favor, but I'm not entirely sure I can articulate why. The Daily Laws: 366 Meditations on Power, Seduction, Mastery, Strategy, and Human Nature By: Robert Greene Published: 2021 464 Pages Briefly, what is this book about? A "page a day" book collecting bits of wisdom from Robert Greene's other books (Laws of Power, Art of Seduction, Strategies of War, etc.) What's the author's angle? As a general matter Greene is something of a Machiavellian figure, he's going to tell it like it is, and give you the tools you really need to succeed in life. Or at least that's his claim. I generally find his approach to be refreshing, but there are also moments when I would say he takes things too far and dispenses advice that's counterproductive. Who should read this book? If you're one of the small number of people who likes to have a page of the day book as a way of marking the time from January 1 to December 31, this is an average entry in this very niche genre. But as the genre is not particularly large, any example might be welcome. If you've never done a page a day book I would probably start with Tolstoy's A Calendar of Wisdom. I thought it was quite good. Also, there's an argument to be made for it being the first such book chronologically. (It's the earliest example of a devotional book that wasn't rigidly sectarian.) Finally, it was banned by the Soviets, which immediately gives it ten extra points in my book. Specific thoughts: Some good advice, some okay advice and a few pieces of actively bad advice
2 In, 2 Out? — Arsenal Beat Brentford and Prepare for Aston VillaArsenal took a needed three points against Brentford, but the story of the night was the balance between what went in and what went out. Merino's header and Saka's late strike gave Arsenal the goals, yet Rice and Mosquera joining the injury list kept the tension high in a game that should have been far more routine. We break down the full picture: why the match felt messy in real time but looked controlled on the rewatch, how Timber and Calafiori quietly re-established structure, and why the left-side role debate is becoming one of the defining conversations of this Arsenal season. From Martinelli's fit, to Trossard's ownership of the role, to Eze's natural connection inside — it's all here.Part Two brings the Who Am I, a whip around the grounds (including Fulham vs City chaos and Leeds humbling Chelsea), and a VARse featuring two officiating moments. Then it's on to Saturday at Villa Park — a huge December fixture, a tough stylistic matchup, and another test of Arsenal's depth during a brutal run.Measured, detailed, and Arsenal-first — exactly how we do it.Chapters:00:00) – Arteta's Non-Negotiables Intro(01:10) – PSA: Arsenal Cannot Lose the Title!(02:21) – Starting XI & Immediate Reactions(03:41) – The Left-Side Debate: Martinelli, Trossard, Eze & Roles(07:12) – Early Control: Ben White, Madueke and the Opening Goal(09:12) – Momentum Shifts & Raya's Big Save(11:03) – Ref Decision, Missed Chances & Madueke's Final Ball(14:33) – Rice, Running Power & the Repeated Sprint Problem(19:48) – Timber at Centre-Back & Backline Adaptations(20:21) – Second Half: Corners, Pressure & Arteta's Response(25:07) – Rice's Injury Scare & Midfield Management(28:59) – Calafiori Brilliance & Saka's Big Miss(32:58) – Saka's Redemption: 2–0 Arsenal / Merino Master of Space(38:24) – By The Numbers: Game State vs Game Feeling(40:10) – PT.2 Who Am I (Game)(41:28) – Whip Around the Grounds (GW14 Results)(47:34) – VARse: Two Officiating Talking Points(55:09) – League Picture: Leaky Defences & Wolves' Historic Pace(59:24) – Villa Preview: Injuries, Lineups & Tactical Threads(01:09:26) – Prediction Game: Sp*rs vs Brentford(01:10:50) – Who Am I (Game) Reveal
In this special Budget edition of Let's Talk Finance, Gary and Marcus cut through the speculation and noise to focus on what the Autumn Budget really means for your money. With rumours swirling in the days before the statement, they explain which changes actually landed, which never materialised, and why this Budget is best understood as a slow-burn set of reforms rather than a sudden shock. They explore the quiet impact of frozen income tax thresholds, why fiscal drag will affect far more people than many expect, and how pensions remain one of the most powerful planning tools despite years of headline anxiety. From salary sacrifice and childcare thresholds to tax-free cash, ISAs, dividend tax and savings income, this episode brings clarity to some of the most misunderstood areas of personal finance. There is also a close look at property and rental taxation, the new high-value homes surcharge, and the sudden change to employee-owned trust exits for business owners. Finally, Gary and Marcus return to inheritance tax, outlining what did not change, what remains in motion, and what families should now be doing before future reforms arrive.Measured, practical and grounded in real-world planning, this episode is about replacing fear with facts and using the next twelve months wisely. To discuss your own circumstances, visit kdw.co.uk or speak to an independent financial adviser.Disclaimer: This podcast is for information only. Our lives are made up of decades, years, minutes, and seconds, and there are 86,400 seconds in each day. Time is an immeasurably valuable commodity, a finite resource we can spend, invest, or waste just like money. We are all given a limited amount of time on earth to live, and then we die. In God's grace and mercy, He knows when that time is for each person. As the awareness of sin marches on, the seconds of our lives tick away. Every one of those seconds is a step on the road to eternity.Show notes:Quotes in this episode were from King David, Leonard Ravenhill, and Dave Hunt.Recommended reading: Why Revival Tarries by Leonard Ravenhill Whatever Happened to Heaven by Dave Hunt Link to The Berean Call, the ministry founded by Dave Hunt for more solid Bible teaching and resources.Text us for prayer, comments, or ministry questions.Connect with us at: concerningthetimes.com
Our second episode in the Seven Summits Series centers on Denali. An Athabaskan word meaning "the high one," Denali is the tallest peak in North America, sitting at 20,310'. Measured from its base to its summit, Denali has a larger vertical rise than Everest, making it the tallest land-based mountain on Earth by that measurement.Sam and Adrian dive into some of the unique characteristics of Denali. Despite being only climbed once between the two of them (Adrian in the early 2000s), countless colleagues have shared insight after insight on Denali. - Adrian shares a bit about his early 2000s trip to Denali, with original intentions to climb the West Rib.- Most climbers ascend the West Buttress route, but the mountain holds countless other amazing routes, many of which are more technical, as well as world-class ski and snowboard descents. - With restrictive guiding limitations set by the National Park, Denali climbs have followed a traditional style, but much opportunity exists for different styles, like fast and light missions using pre-acclimatization. Millennial Potash Chairman Farhad Abasov joined Steve Darling from Proactive to unveil the results of a significantly upgraded Mineral Resource Estimate for the northern portion of the company's Banio Potash Project in Gabon. The update was completed by ERCOSPLAN, one of the world's most respected potash consulting firms and a specialist with deep expertise in the West African Potash Basin. Banio is located at the northern end of the West African Evaporite Basin, a region recognized globally as a proven and productive potash district. Abasov highlighted the dramatic upgrades delivered in the new estimate, noting that the project had no Measured Resource only a year ago. Today, the combined Measured and Indicated (M&I) Resource has surged by 275%, while the Inferred Resource has increased by 210% compared to the maiden estimate published in 2024. The new MRE includes 2.42 billion tonnes of Measured + Indicated Carnallitite grading 15.5% KCl and 3.6 billion tonnes of Inferred Carnallitite grading 15.4% KCl. Abasov described this expansion as “massive,” underscoring the consistency and scale of the potash seams encountered across all drilling to date—some exceeding 100 metres in thickness. This, he said, provides strong evidence of the grade, continuity, and geometry needed to support highly efficient solution mining operations. The company also confirmed that the updated resource represents only a fraction of the northern section of the full project area. Looking ahead, the new MRE will serve as a critical foundation for the upcoming Feasibility Study. That study is being supported by a non-dilutive US$3 million funding commitment from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. The FS will evaluate a range of solution mining production scenarios as the company advances toward potential development. #proactiveinvestors #millennialpotahscorp #tsxv #mlp #otcqb #mlpnf #potash #CriticalMinerals #Potash #USGeologicalSurvey #FertilizerIndustry #USDFC #FoodSecurity #ResourceEstimates #MiningNews #GabonProjects #ProactiveInvestors

In this Uno Reverse episode of Owning Pleasure as a Black Woman, I dive into Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)—also known as winter blues or winter depression. As the time changes and daylight becomes scarce, many high-achieving Black women experience symptoms they may not even recognize as depression. I share my personal experience with SAD, explain how it shows up differently for Type-A personalities, and offer practical strategies to manage symptoms throughout the darker months. If you've been feeling off as the seasons change, this episode will help you recognize what's happening and give you tools to navigate it with more ease.Key Takeaways:SAD is real and affects us differently: Seasonal Affective Disorder is a form of depression that occurs during specific times of the year (typically fall/winter). Symptoms include sadness, fatigue, changes in appetite, difficulty concentrating, lack of motivation, and irritability.Depression doesn't look the same for everyone: For high-achieving Black women, SAD might manifest as overcompensation, overworking, boundary violations, and functional depression—where you appear fine on the outside but feel heavy inside.Practical tools can help: Light therapy, regular exercise (especially outdoors when possible), maintaining a healthy diet, mindfulness practices like meditation and yoga, and seeking professional support are all effective strategies for managing winter blues.Blog Posts:Want to dive deeper into related topics? In this episode, philosopher Kevin Aho joins Andrew Soren to explore how modern life has turned meaning into measurement. Together, they examine how neoliberal values have reshaped higher education, the wellness industry, and even our sense of self.Kevin and Andrew discuss how the culture of busyness and the commodification of well-being have left many people feeling unmoored, and why rediscovering our shared humanity might be the most important work of all.Kevin Aho is Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Department of Communication and Philosophy at Florida Gulf Coast University. His work explores existentialism, phenomenology, and the philosophy of health and illness.Key TakeawaysMeaning has become a metric. When education and work are reduced to measurable outputs, we lose sight of their deeper purpose: to help people grow, think critically, and engage with one another as human beings. The wellness industry reflects a deeper emptiness. The rise of “self-care” culture often masks structural problems, placing responsibility for well-being entirely on individuals instead of addressing the social conditions that shape health and belonging. The self is not a solo project. Kevin challenges the notion of a separate, autonomous self, suggesting that meaning and identity only exist through relationships with others.Community is the antidote to alienation. Small acts of connection, through art, education, or shared spaces, can help rebuild the collective life that neoliberal culture erodes. Why This Episode MattersIn a time when organizations are driven by efficiency and individuals feel pressured to optimize every part of life, this conversation reminds us that meaning cannot be measured or achieved alone. For leaders and changemakers, Kevin's ideas offer a call to design systems and workplaces that honor interdependence, nurture reflection, and restore our sense of community and care.About Our GuestKevin Aho is Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Department of Communication and Philosophy at Florida Gulf Coast University. His research spans existentialism, phenomenology, hermeneutics, and the philosophy of health and illness. Through his books, Kevin explores what it means to live well, face suffering, and find meaning in our finite lives. In this week's mini episode, I'm tackling a question that came my way recently: “What's the point of running a race if you're not measuring progress by time?” After four marathons, I've learned that progress isn't always about pace or PRs. It can show up in the way you fuel, how you handle the tough miles, or how you keep your mindset strong when things don't go to plan. If you're training for your first marathon or just need a reminder that growth comes in many forms, this episode is for you. Follow along with the show:

Kae Williams is a global software marketing executive on a mission to empower women in their careers through her work and her forthcoming book, Not Made For You. Kae works diligently to raise awareness about bias and hostile work cultures so that every woman will feel supported, respected, and enabled to achieve her full potential. Here are three key takeaways from the conversation about measuring organizational culture: Culture Needs Tangible Metrics, Not Just Talk: Organizations must treat culture like a business outcome, measuring it with the same rigor they apply to revenue and profit. This means looking at metrics such as retention rate and understanding that the main drivers of people leaving are burnout, not feeling supported, and lack of career growth. Focus on the "How," Not Just the "What": Performance reviews and rewards must balance the results an employee achieves with how they achieve them. A high performer who creates a toxic work environment will ultimately cost the company more in lost talent than the revenue they generate. Companies should actively reward behaviors like leading with empathy and being a "culture maker". Support and Train Your Managers: Middle managers are essential to the employee experience, but are often stuck without the right tools. Equipping them with skills like giving constructive, behavior-based feedback and knowing how to coach their teams is vital. Furthermore, organizations must audit workloads to prevent burnout and shift non-promotable tasks to avoid over-burdening women and marginalized employees. Maria and Jodene discuss the challenges of starting, decent work practices, and how to measure the unmeasurable. 4-Day Work Week for Nonprofits - The Highlights: Why try a four-day week in the first place The sector is stretched: lower average pay, rising demand, and chronic burnout. Imagine Canada saw the same internal pressures and chose to test a four-day week to improve staff wellbeing and retention while holding impact. Their model is 100 percent pay, 80 percent time, 100 percent outcomes Imagine Canada works Monday to Thursday and closes Fridays. There is no pay cut and no compressed schedule. This pilot began in January 2023 and is now extended through 2026. It remains a pilot so they can keep measuring and adjust if needed. Preparation made the shift workable They joined the Four Day Week Global pilot, created a cross-functional staff group, set clear goals, and defined success metrics. They also cleaned up calendars: Audited and shortened meetings Made Monday afternoons meeting-free internally Blocked Fridays well in advance to build the habit Measured results: wellbeing up, sick days down, impact stable They track roughly 50 metrics across wellbeing, productivity, and outputs. Recruitment and retention improved Candidates now cite the four-day week as a reason to apply. Staff attrition has dropped exponentially.
Today marks two years since I started serving on the Haslett School Board. It also marks about a decade of my fascination with education in the United States.I consider myself lucky to be in Haslett. We're not perfect, and COVID definitely impacted our kids, but our academic performance has been stronger than almost all of the surrounding communities.Especially compared to Holt, where I graduated. I say this with sadness, not superiority. Holt has not been doing well lately. This journey has taken me deep into the world of education. I've asked hard questions like, why did schools move away from using phonics instruction to teach reading?Books like The Knowledge Gap and podcasts like Sold a Story helped me understand the system, and more importantly, helped me intervene to teach our 7-year-old how to actually read.I also became a Certified School Board Member through MASB, which opened my eyes to how school districts really operate, the trade-offs, the complexity, the constraints. One of the most inspiring examples I've found is what people call the Mississippi Miracle. In 2013, Mississippi ranked 49th in 4th grade reading scores. By 2022, they were 21st overall, and top 5 in the country for Black, low-income, and special education students. They focused on direct instruction, phonics, teacher training, and retention policies. It worked. All of that has been fascinating. But nothing has impressed me as much as Alpha School. What Is Alpha School?Alpha School is a high-end private school, built from the ground up like a product, designed to make school awesome for kids. At the center is a powerful learning engine they call, Time Back. Students come in and spend just two hours a day with the AI-powered tutor. This tutor delivers direct instruction, constantly adapting based on what the student needs. As Joe puts it, your age grade and your knowledge grade are two totally different things. The system teaches to mastery, not to the average. Every lesson is personalized, every gap is closed. Students learn 10 times faster, and consistently perform in the top 1% nationally. The real unlock is time back. With core academics finished in two hours, students have four more hours each day to focus on “life skills” workshops. Getting their Time Back is a huge motivation for the students. Life skills workshops include things like leadership, financial literacy, public speaking, entrepreneurship projects like running a food truck, robotics, sports, and chess tournaments. The rest of the day is team-based, project-based, and fun. It's not screen time — it's real-world preparation. As Joe says, the key to motivation is progress and choice, and Alpha delivers both. Here's how Alpha works, and why it's blowing my mind.Alpha's 5 Core Commitments* Kids Must Love SchoolNot tolerate it: love it. Alpha students are asked, would you rather go to school or go on vacation? Last year some of their high schoolers said, can we skip summer break because we don't want to stop. That kind of love.* Kids Must Learn 10x FasterAlpha has built a two-hour academic model using AI and learning science. Students spend two hours a day with their AI tutor, and that's it. Their academic performance is in the top 1% nationally. It's not that the kids are smarter, it's that the model works better.* The Rest of the Day Is for LifeWith the academic work done in the morning, the rest of the day is for life skills. Workshops on leadership, public speaking, entrepreneurship, personal finance, and teamwork. Real skills, no busywork, no screens.* Guides Instead of TeachersAlpha doesn't have traditional teachers. They have Guides. These adults are responsible for making sure kids love school, learn quickly, and grow as people. They don't lecture. They coach, support, and hold students to high expectations.* High Standards Create Happy KidsThis one is the most opposite of all. Alpha believes happiness comes from high standards, not low ones. Kids struggle, fail, cry, and then succeed. That builds real confidence and resilience. That's the kind of happiness that lasts. What Joe Discovered About EducationJoe is not an educator. He's a systems guy. A product builder. Which means he noticed things that others missed. Here are some of the biggest things Alpha has uncovered:* Motivation is 90% of the solutionThe problem isn't attention span or tech, it's motivation. When school only takes two hours a day, every kid wants to learn. Giving kids their time back is the unlock.* Swiss cheese knowledge doesn't workIn the traditional model, kids move onto the next grade even if they only understand 70% of the material. That creates holes in knowledge and those holes lead to failure later. Alpha on the other hand, enforces mastery. Students must get over 90% before they move on.* “A” students can still be behindAlpha has seen students with 4.0 GPAs at other schools, who are actually two or three years behind in core subjects. The old system rewards compliance, not mastery. One girl had a 740 on the SAT. She went back to third grade math, fixed the foundation, and scored a 790.* Catching up takes less time than you thinkA student who is three years behind can often catch up in 60 hours. One subject, one grade level, done in 20 to 30 hours. It's not magic. It's just focus and a system that works.* Every kid can be top 10%Research shows that with a tutor and mastery-based learning, average students can outperform 90% of their peers. Alpha believes 95% of eighth graders in America could be top 10% performers with the right system.* IQ doesn't limit outcomes anymoreIn the old model, your performance was tied to your IQ. At Alpha, it's tied to your effort. That shift makes achievement a decision, not a destiny.* AI unlocks personalized learningAlpha uses generative AI to build custom lessons based on each kid's interests and knowledge gaps. They've even taught World War I through Taylor Swift metaphors. That's not a joke. It's real. Why It MattersAlpha isn't just a different school, it's a different category. This isn't an experiment. It's a product. Built with intention. Measured by results. Scaled with clarity. They're opening new campuses. They're launching specialty models like the Texas Sports Academy for D1-bound athletes. They're not slowing down.We need more conversations about this. More public awareness. More experiments. Because what we're doing isn't working. Not for kids, not for parents, not for teachers.Alpha feels like the opposite of what we've accepted as normal. And maybe that's what we need most.— What do you think about Alpha School? Building HVAC Science - Building Performance, Science, Health & Comfort
“Use AI to augment people, not replace them.” “Windshield time is 30% of a tech's day—let's turn it into sales prep.” “Proposals should translate specs into homeowner value—comfort, savings, and choices.” In this episode, recorded live from the NCI Summit 2025 in Round Rock, TX, Bill and Eric sit down with Winston Chi, co-founder of NOSO Labs, to explore how AI can augment (not replace) HVAC technicians. Winston shares his path from a Google-backed, AI-driven startup in food wholesale to building tools for the trades, inspired by ride-alongs and family ties to hands-on work. His core thesis: most techs aren't well trained in sales or structured communication, yet that's precisely what turns field data into homeowner decisions. The goal is to streamline processes and eliminate friction, allowing techs to communicate clearly, follow up reliably, and close deals ethically. NOSO's mobile-first app tackles three pain points: (1) windshield time becomes prep time via short audio job briefs (history, likely issues, “don't forget the maintenance plan” cues); (2) on-site conversations (or quick self-notes) are recorded and auto-structured into clear summaries and proposals—with visuals instead of math walls—plus rebate and tax credit logic that stays current as programs change; and (3) follow-ups are auto-scheduled and teed up as texts or calls so opportunities don't leak. A service manager dashboard displays follow-up activity, and there are native integrations (e.g., ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro). Winston also previews their massive manuals brain—~15 million HVAC/water-heater manuals searchable by photo/nameplate—so techs can look up specs fast. Early users span from San Diego to New Jersey; NOSO offers a short trial, then annual contracts. We're joined by Jack Schwager—author of the legendary Market Wizards series and co-founder of FundSeeder—along with his partner and fellow co-founder & CEO, Emanuel Balarie. Jack shares what it really takes to be considered for a Market Wizards book: not one formula, but a mix of standout performance, disciplined risk, and an almost obsessive commitment to process and adaptation. Along the way, we dig into why survival so often hinges on position sizing and pre-planned exits, whether strategies like trend following can still hold up today, and the paradox of how fundamental convictions can actually work against risk management. Emanuel then explains how FundSeeder discovers talented but undiscovered traders worldwide, using analytics to measure performance and the FundSeeder Rise accelerator (now part of RQSI) to help top performers make the leap from trading their own accounts to managing outside capital. Think of it as a “farm system” for the next generation of fund managers. Few will ultimately make the cut, but every great manager starts somewhere—and if you've been honing your craft and building a real track record, this episode might spark the thought: why not you? 'For the sake of what am I doing this?' is the question that animates this week's conversation. For the sake of fitting in? Of having feelings that I want to have? For the sake of serving? Of bringing the unique gifts I have to offer? For the sake of doing the big jobs, the ones that make a difference over the long term - such as pursuing love, justice, peace? Rather than pursuing quick wins that shrink our ambitions, might we find courage to take on impossible jobs and measure our lives not by immediate results but by unwavering dedication to the particular gifts that each of us has to bring? This week's conversation is hosted, as always, by Lizzie Winn and Justin Wise of Thirdspace. Episode Overview 00:00 Introduction and Welcome 04:14 Introducing Parker Palmer and this week's Source 08:52 The Concept of Faithfulness vs. Effectiveness 15:42 The Challenge of Complex Issues in Life 22:33 Finding Fulfillment Beyond Short-Term Goals Here's our source for this week: Faithfulness and Effectiveness Take on big jobs worth doing, jobs like the spread of love, peace, and justice. That means refusing to be seduced by our cultural obsession with being effective as measured by short-term results. … Our heroes take on impossible jobs and stay with them for the long haul because they live by a standard that supersedes effectiveness. The name of that standard is "faithfulness" - faithfulness to your gifts, to the needs of the world, and to offering your gifs to whatever needs are within your reach. The tighter we cling to the norm of effectiveness, the smaller the tasks we'll take on, because they are the only ones that get short-term results. Public education is a tragic example. We no longer care about educating children - a big job that's never done. We care only about getting kids to pass tests with measurable results, whether or not those tests measure what matters. In the process, we're crushing the spirits of a lot of good teachers and vulnerable kids: there are millions of kids in this country who long to be treasured, not measured. Care about being effective, of course. But care even more about being faithful, as countless teachers do - faithful to your calling and to the true needs of those entrusted to your care. You won't get the big jobs done in your lifetime. But if, at the end of the road, you can say, "I was faithful", you can check out with a sense of satisfaction. Think your pediatrician has all the breastfeeding answers? The truth is, most don't and that's not a knock on them. It's a reflection of the limited lactation training in pediatric residency. That's why I sat down with Dr. Lauren Hughes, founder of Bloom Pediatrics and a double threat: pediatrician and IBCLC. Together, we unpack the myths, the mental load, and the real deal about breastfeeding support that parents deserve but don't always get in those early days. We talk about: Why pediatricians often give confusing (or just plain wrong) advice around lactation How the term “nipple confusion” creates shame instead of support and what's really going on with flow preference How pumping, pacifiers, and supplementation can all fit into a successful feeding planWhy protecting a parent's mental health is just as important as protecting their milk supply To connect with Dr. Lauren Hughes follow her on Instagram @bloomdcp and check out all her resources at https://www.drlaurenhughes.com/ We'd like to know who is listening!
