Bowen Turner's latest arrest for probation violation means he will now have to register as a sex offender. The South Carolina man accused of three rapes was arrested for disorderly conduct and given bail, but Turner denied bail on another charge stemming from a probation violation. Turner, 19, was arrested on Mother's Day and after his arrest, he allegedly called a female jailer the "B-word" and tried to bite off the finger of another. This latest incident happens after a controversial sentence was handed down in April. Orangeburg County Court Judge Markley Dennis sentenced Turner to five years of probation as part of a plea for assaulting a woman in 2019. The charge was reduced from an earlier charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, even though the victim was willing to testify and it was the third sexual assault accusation against Turner in less than two years. Ankle monitoring logs show that Turner violated his previous bond dozens of times, visiting golf courses, restaurants, shopping centers and even going out of state. At his court appearance attorney Jason Turnblad o asked Judge Roger Young to take into consideration Turner's "young age [and] his lack of a prior record before pleading to these charges." Turner also admitted to having an "alcohol problem" that he would like to address through rehabilitation. The judge ruled however that Turner knew the rules of his probation. The more we know about the home life of Highland Park shooter, the more it sounds familiar. Parents are more into themselves than the kid and pay them off to get him to shut up. To Chris, this sounds like Ethan Couch, aka the Affluenza Teen. The only difference appears to be the HP shooter's Dad legally bought him a rifle, whereas Couch's parents gave him a bunch of money. Otherwise, their upbringing was eerily similar. And so are the results. The Chris Krok Show is on NewsTalk 820 WBAP .. Pt 1: The Matthew Shepard Story Matthew (Matt) Shepard was a 21 year old openly gay student at the University of Wyoming who was bludgeoned, tortured, and left to die tied to a fence near Laramie on the night of October 6, 1998. He passed away in the hospital 6 days later due to his tragic injuries. Matthew's murderers Russell Henderson and Aaron McKinney reportedly attacked Shepard for no other reason than the fact that he was gay. The nation was outraged and Matthew Shepard quickly became the face for acceptance and equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community. Pt2: Ethan Couch: The Affluenza Teen Ethan Couch was just 16 years old when he drove drunk and killed 4 people. During his trial, a psychologist gave a shocking explanation for why Ethan did what he did… He suffered from “affluenza”, the inability to understand the consequences of his actions because of his economic privilege. Basically, the kid believed himself to be above the law because he was rich… Not only did the ridiculous defense work in his favor, but horrifically, it has over and over again throughout the years.
On this week's episode, we will be looking at the Affluenza Defense and how it enabled Ethan Couch to avoid real jail time for the murder of four people in a horrific car crash.

Luxury cars, large homes, extravagant vacations. Money can buy you a lot of things but can it make you sick? One psychologist has suggested that money doesn’t buy happiness, but instead buys a lack of culpability. In this infuriating case was this a legitimate defense or just another example of the favorable treatment of the rich in our justice system?
Ethan Couch never had rules and lived his life by the idea he or his parents could buy his way out of any trouble. On June 15 2013, he recklessly killed four people, would he be above the law now? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tracy-barkley/support
Ethan Couch did a horrible thing. When he was 16 years old, he got drunk, loaded his friends in his truck, and drove recklessly down a dark, two-lane road. Not far from his house, Ethan lost control of his truck. He hit one vehicle, and then another, which hit another. Four people died. When police arrived, one deputy remarked that the stretch of road looked, “more like a plane crash than a car wreck.” The story made national headlines — for an unexpected reason. During Ethan’s sentencing, psychologist Dick Miller contended that Ethan grew up in an environment with no consequences. His family had money, and money meant that you made your own rules. In other words, Ethan was a victim of his own privilege. It was the affluenza defense, and it infuriated the nation. Then Brandi tells us about the con to beat all cons. In the post-9/11 world, the United States Navy Veterans Association prospered. They brought in millions upon millions of dollars in donations. The money couldn’t have gone to a better cause. People jumped at the chance to help the nation’s veterans. But in 2010, a reporter from the St. Petersburg Times looked into the organization. He was shocked by what he discovered. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “The worst parents ever,” by Michael J. Mooney, D Magazine “Ethan Couch, affluenza sufferer, has been sentenced to two years in jail,” Texas Monthly “Teen sentenced to 10 years probation, rehab in 4 deaths,” Star-Telegram “Ethan Couch, the affluenza teen, has disappeared with his mother and has possibly fled the country,” Texas Monthly “Teenager’s sentence in fatal drunken-driving case stirs affluenza debate,” New York Times “Ethan Couch,” Wikipedia “Affluenza mom Tonya Couch back in jail after authorities say she used meth,” Dallas News “Fred Couch, father of ‘affluenza teen,’ goes to trial,” Star-Telegram In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “The Strange, Spectacular Con of Bobby Charles Thompson” by Daniel Fromson, The Washingtonian “Mystery Man Bobby Thompson blames CIA for bogus charity” by John Martin, Tampa Bay Times “Money Stolen by Infamous Con Man ‘Bobby Thompson’ Finally Goes to Vets” by Matthew Mosk, ABC News “United States Navy Veterans Association” wikipedia.org

The real story behind the affluenza teen. Ethan Couch was a teenage boy with a too much freedom, no discipline, a lot of affluence and no morals. This is the story about how his past and current life affected that of 5 families in the worst possible way. On any average night in Texas, Ethan Couch a 16 year old kid would take the lives of 4 people in a drunk driving accident. Upon first glance you think you have heard about this incident or know someone in a similar incident but we assure you this one is different.
