How did a bizarre confession derail the investigation into the first murder committed by Keith Hunter Jesperson, the notorious “Happy Face Killer,” and allow him to remain on the loose, killing at least seven more women? A new two-hour “20/20” reports on how after authorities discovered the body of Taunja Bennett in the Columbia Gorge in 1990, 57-year-old Laverne Pavlinac confessed to the police that she took part in the crime. She provided convincing evidence that implicated her and her boyfriend, 39-year-old John Sosnovske, in the murder, and they were convicted and sentenced to life in prison. In a shocking twist, Pavlinac's confession turned out to be false in an attempt to escape what she described as an abusive relationship with Sosnovske. With reporting by “Nightline” co-anchor Juju Chang, “20/20” dives into how Pavlinac was able to dupe police, featuring audio from the couple's confessions and police interviews, and from the hidden microphone installed in Pavlinac's apartment when she tried to convince Sosnovske that he was involved in the murder. The two-hour program features an exclusive interview with Melissa Gavin, a friend of Julie Winningham, the last person Jesperson killed before his arrest; and new interviews with John Ingram, lead detective who investigated Bennett's murder; Jim McIntyre, prosecutor for Pavlinac and Sosnovske's cases; Darlene Carpenter and Bonnie McAlpine, Pavlinac's daughters; Michelle White, Bennett's sister; Melissa Moore, Jesperson's daughter; and Alafair Burke, bestselling author and former prosecutor who based her first novel on the case. The program also features Chang's interview with Jesperson from the ABC News archives and gives an inside look at how police ultimately tracked Jesperson down.  Learn more about your ad choices. They all shared music cassettes in their younger days and made music together. Jim McIntyre and Hilarie Sydney of Apples in Stereo made up the final tally. They all started several pet projects which ended up under the umbrella of Elephant 6. Doss and Hart with The Olivia Tremor Control, Mangum with Neutral Milk Hotel and Schneider with Apples in Stereo. Collectively they held admiration for music from the 1960s. In particular The Beach Boys, often stating the then unfinished Smile as "The Holy Grail". Mangum disbanded Neutral Milk Hotel after an extensive European tour in 1998 cited ill health as one of the reasons. His bandmates were keen to capitalise on the albums success. However, Mangum was tired of performing and explaining his lyrics. Because of this Mangum turned down an opportunity to open for R.E.M. Mangum suffered a nervous breakdown at the time. Interviewed in 2002 he stated that it was unlikely that he would record as Neutral Milk Hotel in the future. I just feel like these windows open up for something to be honest, and they don't stay open for very long. I guess my path feels sort of different nowJeff Mangum speaking to Pitchfork in February 2002 In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - sophomore album from Neutral Milk Hotel Whilst working on the album Avery Island he read The Diary of a Young Girl. The diary written by Anne Frank whilst in hiding from the Nazi occupation. The diary was famously and posthumously published to great acclaim. Mangum was deeply affected by the diary, he spent "about three days crying" after reading it. He also dreamed of travelling back in time to save her. The track Ghost played here was a reference to Frank and to a ghost Mangum believed lived in his house. He believed the ghost kept waking him in the night. Oh Comely (8+ minutes) was recorded in one take. At the end of the track you can hear an astonished bandmate cry "Holy shit" in amazement. On the final track, Two Headed Boy Part II, Mangum can be heard setting down his guitar and walking away. At the end of Aeroplane's final song, you can hear Jeff Mangum [...] set down his guitar and walk off, and [...] that's exactly what Mangum did in real lifeSlate Other avenues to explore Get brilliant music/TV/film based t-shirts hereCheck out where our Listeners are around the globe hereTake a look at what our Listeners are saying hereSupport our work hereGet social on Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook

Those players drafted in went out to impress from the start and winger Patrick Roberts scored in the third minute with a fine drive, although County did fashion several chances themselves. Indeed, Staggies defender Andrew Davies hit the post with a header after the break but in the 83rd minute midfielder Stuart Armstrong clinched the points with a fine finish before substitutes Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele added further goals in added time. The Hoops extended their unbeaten domestic run to 13 games and go further clear of Aberdeen, whom they visit on Saturday. County, meanwhile, have had gone eight games without a win although boss Jim McIntyre will take some heart from battling performance before the late collapse. Rodgers made eight changes to the side which started against the Light Blues at Hampden. Emilio Izaguirre, Cristian Gamboa, Armstrong, Callum McGregor, Roberts, Ryan Christie, Liam Henderson and Leigh Griffiths all came into the side. Celtic moved nine points clear at the top of the Premiership after beating Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Tom Rogic's controlled half-volley put the reigning champions ahead midway through the first half. Dons goalkeeper Joe Lewis denied Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele and Rogic as the visitors pressed for a second after the interval. Having struggled to create, Aberdeen had a late flurry and Craig Gordon prevented an Erik Sviatchenko own goal. Two victories over Celtic at Pittodrie last season had kept the Dons close to Ronny Deila's team until the last few weeks of the season. But Derek McInnes' men drop from second to fourth in a tight table having played a game more than Celtic, who they meet in next month's Scottish League Cup final. We all so hear from brendan rodgers post match interview where he talks to Sky Sports about the game . Our Featured games this week we look back at 3 games from the the past. 1986-05-03: St. Mirren 0-5 Celtic Celtic snatch the championship by edging out Heart of Midlothian on the last day of the campaign. The margin was on goal difference, as Celtic beat St Mirren 5-0 at Love Street and Hearts fall to two late goals from Dundee at Dens Park. 1988-05-14: Celtc 2-1 Dundee Utd, Scottish Cup Final Difficult to begin to understand the atmosphere that surrounded this game. For the Celtic players, it was a chance to seal a memorable double for the club in our Centenary Season having wrapped up the league earlier on. For Dundee Utd, it was a chance to finally break their hoodoo in the Scottish Cup having lost countless number of finals to date (inc the previous cup final in 1987 by St Mirren). Despite being league winners, this was not going to be an easy game for Celtic, and Dundee Utd under the legendary Jim McLean were a very good and entertaining side with some quality players. 1991-03-17: Celtic 2-0 Rangers, Scottish Cup, St Patrick's Day massacre. Cracking win for Celtic after seeing us lose a man first (Peter Grant red card). Huns lost three players and a great morale boosting win saw us KO the huns. First half goals from Gerry Creaney & Shug (deflected free-kick) sealed the win, and no amount of posturing from the Huns could get them near us. Peter Grant made an ass of himself by getting sent off stupidly. He conceded a free-kick outside our box (first yellow) and then charged the free-kick down (second yellow) to get himself a red! Thankfully we survived. Great win as the support sang "Happy Birthday St Patrick" all day long.. Wonderful.

Domestic football is back and Krys is joined by John to discuss much of the action over the last weekend. Rangers ten in a row, Hibernian trying to keep up, Dunfermline back on top and Annan Athletic on a nice run all get a look in through our lower league discussions before thoughts turn to the Premiership and the fortunes of the newest (but not that new) managers in the top flight. Ross County's progress under Jim McIntyre gets examined, as does the problems Derek McInnes currently faces at stumbling Aberdeen. The curious refereeing decisions of John Beaton and Alan Muir get questioned, while Willie Collum gets a bit of praise for brandishing his red card. Wonders will never cease. The guys preview the Premiership action, but before that there's Petrofac Training Cup and Championship action, as well as a trip to Norway for Celtic. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet, although there wasn't much success this week. No odds for this week's bets at the time of recording, so give sffpodcast On Twitter a follow to see if it's worth it! And join us on Scottish Football Forums for all your predictor and forum needs!
