Car dealerships are looking a lot like Walmart or grocer store shelves -- a little bare! So you would think dealers would be looking to make deals. But Jason Wheeler, a reporter at our news partner at WFAA, found that a lot of dealers are forcing buyers to finance cars through their own credit agencies. Let's say you have cash or financing through your own institution and have a check in hand. Some dealers are saying sorry -- finance through us, take it or leave it! Is that fair? Is that legal? On the morning of December 23, 1974, Lisa Renee Wilson, 14, Julie Ann Moseley, 9, and Mary Rachel Trlica, 17, travelled to the Seminary South Shopping Center in Fort Worth, Texas to do some shopping. Julie was the sister of Renee's boyfriend, Terry Moseley.Rachel and Renee had initially planned to go shopping with Terry, but he had made other plans. Julie wanted to go along with them, but was told she needed permission from her mother. She was able to get permission, but was told she needed to be home by 6:00pm. Renee was excited about attending a Christmas party that evening with Terry and wanted to be home early to get ready. At 12:00pm, the girls visited the local Army/Navy surplus store to get some jeans Renee had on layaway. They then drove to the shopping center and parked near Sears .Witnesses would later claim they'd seen the girls inside the mall throughout the afternoon. However, it's never been confirmed. Keep in mind this was the 70s. Most young girls had long straight hair. And since it was Christmas time, the mall would be full of teenagers out for Christmas break. Rachel's Oldsmobile was found in the parking lot around 6:00pm. It was locked, and there was single present on the backseat floorboard. However, there was no trace of the girls or any indications of a struggle. Nearly five decades later, no one has ever seen the girls again. ***Opening audio courtesy of WFAA.comPlease also visit my website for more information about my true crime and paranormal newspaper columns at www.themarcabe.com. Exactly 24-hours after the announcement, Dale cracked open a beer with the Jasons for a look back at his 50-years in broadcasting, the well-known statewide politician he was recruited to run against a few years ago, the unbelievable way he got a job in Dallas, and how he handles haters – who really get under his skin. A new study says re-opening schools in Texas led to an additional 43,000+ cases and 800+ deaths across the state.  In fact, one of the lead researchers says it was a stronger connection than they would have guessed.  What isn’t clear, is exactly how many of those were teachers.  That researcher tells the Jasons why that is and why he hopes the study becomes part of the discussion before any concrete decisions are made for schools in the fall.  The Texas Education Agency tells us they stand by their decisions and pointed us towards criticism of this study.  But many teachers and other school workers wouldn’t be surprised by the results.  They predicted, some right here on Y’all-itics, they would lose co-workers to the disease before they even returned to classrooms.  But nobody knows the exact number of teachers who’ve died of COVID during this school year… because the state isn’t tracking those statistics.  So WFAA reporter Teresa Woodard did just that.  And she also joins the Jasons to talk about her investigation in this episode of Y’all-itics.   WATCH Teresa Woodard’s investigation on WFAA and wfaa.com on Tuesday, May 18 at 10pm   NBER Study:  School Reopenings, Mobility, and COVID-19 Spread: Evidence from Texas | NBER

Tashara turned the criticism around to be a voice for the black women and men who get criticize daily for their natural black hair in the workplace. Tashara opens up about how she’s able to get through the trials & tribulations in life while speaking for those who need you the most. Not everyone can handle the pressure, but she does it! This is our Part 2 interview with WFAA ABC 8 Mavericks reporter Irvin Castellanos (@TwittIrv). This episode is a little late but we talk about Mark Cuban not playing the national anthem and then playing it once the NBA found out about it. We also talked some baseball since he grew up a Texas Rangers fan and I grew up an LA Dodgers fan; which leads to a discussion on the MLB Word Series bubble that was held in Texas because of COVID-19. Also, since Irvin co-hosts his own Simpsons podcast (Eat My Shorts: A Simpsons Podcast), he tells me what his favorite Simpsons episode is (spoiler: it involves sports!) Lastly, I finish the podcast with the second-ever Molotov MVP segment, where I decide to pick co-Molotov MVPs: Oregon women's college basketball star Sedona Prince (@sedonaprince_) and former NBA player and University of Wisconsin men's college basketball player Nigel Hayes (@NIGEL_HAYES). This past week, both players (March 17 and March 19) called out the NCAA's hypocrisy and corruption. Prince exposed the NCAA's gender bias when she tweeted a video of a very empty and basic weight room set up at the NCAA women's basketball tournament. Prince then gave her followers a glimpse of the men's tournament weight room which was fully stocked and looked like an actual weight room. On March 17, Nigel Hayes was quoted in the UK's The Guardian. The article, 'I signed my life to rich white guys': athletes on the racial dynamics of college sports," was written by our End of Sport Podcast comrades Nathan Kalman-Lamb, Derek Silva, and Johanna Mellis. Nigel Hayes rightfully called out the NCAA exploitation of Black Athletes in college sports. He is also the co-host of the Eat My Shorts: A Simpsons Podcast (@eatmyshortspod). First, we get into crazy Texas Governor Greg Abbott ending the statewide mask mandate that goes into effect on March 10, 2021. Then, Irvin and I breakdown The Texas Tribune's investigative report from last week (3/1/2021). The bombshell report revealed racist, angry emails from wealthy University of Texas boosters; who threatened to pull back their financial support of the university because the football team didn't sing the "Eyes of Texas" after a game last season.Next, we discuss Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hitting the "Jackpot" while Texans froze to death, and talked some NBA, Dallas Mavericks and the NBA All-Star weekend (which will be over when you hear this episode lol).
