Last week, the Grey Bull Rescue Foundation successfully completed its 800th mission, the extraction of Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Prize laureate María Corina Machado from Venezuela. U.S. special forces veteran and founder of the Tampa-based Grey Bull Rescue Foundation, Bryan Stern, led the high-profile rescue operation, dubbed Operation Golden Dynamite, to extract María Corina Machado, who hadn't been seen in public in almost a year. He describes the dangerous components of the operation and how he received the assignment. He also explains why it is so essential for him to help Americans in dire conditions, which is the foundation of his organization. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Welcome to Wrestling Tonight, with your hosts Acefield Retro and Chad. We open Episode 155 with the defining image of the week: Gunther standing tall as John Cena taps out in the final match of his WWE career. What should have been a shared emotional release instead became a revealing moment about WWE's creative posture, as Saturday Night's Main Event exposed the company's increasingly adversarial relationship with its audience. The result wasn't the issue. Gunther is already a made man, and his credibility never hinged on retiring Cena. The friction came from the framing. The show was presented as a celebration, yet paced like Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. By the time Cena escaped the sleeper once and Gunther reapplied it, the atmosphere didn't crest into catharsis. It stalled. That disconnect sharpened during the post-match ceremony. WWE rushed into pageantry — roster surrounding the ring, titles presented, tribute video cued — without letting the building settle. The reaction made clear the audience understood exactly what kind of ending they'd been handed. We break down why the finish felt less organic than corrective, and contrast it with Sting's retirement in AEW, which showed how patience and alignment can create a farewell that feels complete. From there, we pivot to AEW's Continental Classic, where Dynamite delivered real movement. "Speedball" Mike Bailey stunned Kyle Fletcher, Kazuchika Okada handled Jack Perry, and Claudio Castagnoli and Konosuke Takeshita fought to a punishing time-limit draw that reinforced the Classic as AEW's most sports-driven concept. We then hit an Observer-style business and schedule corner, breaking down AEW's crowded December — early U.K. Collision, a three-hour Manchester Dynamite with $1 million at stake, a tight Worlds End promotional window — before flipping to WWE's business side: Royal Rumble demand, archive strategy, NXT PLE timing, and mid-December pre-taping. We close with a look ahead at a loaded week across the industry, from Holiday Bash and the Continental Classic to Impact's cage chaos, SmackDown's continued Cena fallout, NXT's road to New Year's Evil, and a packed runway toward Worlds End, Wrestle Kingdom, the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 42. This is Episode 155 of Wrestling Tonight — where the moments matter, the context counts, and the conversation goes deeper than the finish
We're very excited to be bringing you this latest episode, recorded in front of an audience as part of our Everyman Soundtracking film club. Edith was joined on stage by Kathryn Bigelow, Noah Oppenheim, Greg Shapiro, Rebecca Ferguson and Volker Bertelmann after a screening of Kathryn's Netflix film, A House Of Dynamite. Told non-chronologically and from multiple perspectives, the narrative follows the responses of different US government and military officials after an unknown adversary launches a single intercontinental ballistic missile at a North American city.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller is joined by PWTorch's Dan Kuester to discuss the Dec. 10 edition of AEW Dynamite including Wade proposing this might have been the most "perfect" Dynamite episode to date, and just because of Speedball's stellar upset win over Kyle Fletcher. Lots of good and an absence of bad added up to a formula that could work every week with this crew. Also, an on-site report that included in person details and then a long sidebar discussion on the merits of Sting being grouped with top tier main event peers. Praise for Stokely Hathaway, Renee Paquette, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, Samoa Joe, Danny Garcia, Don Callis, Rocky Romero, Josh Alexander, Hangman Page, Toni Storm, and many others.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wade-keller-pro-wrestling-post-shows--3275545/support.

Chris Reject and his merry band of miscreants are ready to work with you to bring to life your vision of a t-shirt for your business, band, project, or whatever else it is you need represented by a shirt, sweater, pin, or koozie. And as always thank you to our Patreon subscribers. Your support means the world to us and we are eternally thankful. If you would like to become a Patron, head to patreon.com/cinepunx. Thanks in advance! We briefly talk what we've doing involving horror recently. Liam talks about seeing the remastered version of Re-Animator, Lord Of Illusions, Black Eyed Susan, and House of Dynamite. Justin talks about some of the films he saw for Brooklyn Horror Film Festival and Screamfest, as well as the films Alma and the Wolf, Somnium, The Astronaut, and Traumatika, and the HBO series Welcome To Derry. Up first is From The Old Earth. Justin talks about how this feels very much like the archetypical folk horror film. We talk about the history of the attempts to keep the Welsh language alive. We briefly talk about the history of Wales and how British colonialism had long attempted to crush the Welsh culture. Justin talks about the role of the Welsh in Lovecraftian fiction, particularly Colin Wilson's short story, “The Return Of The Lloigor.” We discuss how despite taking place in Wales, the film still has a very British feel to it. The fact that only women can see the villain (a shadowy god) is touched upon and how that plays into the misogynistic views of post-WWII UK. Liam talks about the relative lack of gore and blood, and how despite not being out-and-out frightening, it still has a good amount of creepiness. Justin talks about how the film accomplishes what a folk horror film sets out to do, which is presenting a sense of time and portraying the modern world as a thin veneer resting upon the horrors of the primordial past. Justin also talks about the theme of feminine fertility being the enemy of some of these deities. We talk some more about the basic tenets of folk horror. Up next is Born Of Fire. We give a summary of the film. We talk about how the film, despite being directed by a Pakistani person, presents some rather problematic views of Turkey, in that Turkey is presented as a place inhabited by actual cave dwellers. Liam talks about the film’s British sensibility of being simultaneously uptight and horny, and its utter lack of subtlety. We talk about the film's themes of decadence and temptation, as well as hints of a Charlie Daniels-esque master flautist vs. the devil. We talk about the history of “trickster” beings in Europe, tying back to a Muslim influence and the Muslim concept of the djinn. As always, thank you for listening and to everyone and anyone who donated on Patreon, checked this episode out, or shared a tweet/shared a post on FB/gave us love by recommending us to someone.

Episode 99: A House of Dynamite This week, the gang steps into the explosive tension of A House of Dynamite, a modern pressure-cooker thriller where family secrets, fraying loyalties, and a single terrible night threaten to blow everything apart. Craig sounds the alarm and readies for attack with Producer's Notes (9:16), while Alain scorches a few eyebrows with the Beauclair Synopsis (18:44), laying out the film's tightly coiled timeline and the slow, heavy crack of inevitability beneath it. Chris then tiptoes into Philosopher's Corner (32:13), following the movie's dual phenomenology as inner lives and outside impressions slowly misalign. The gang holds their breath as the Round Table (43:13) ignites debates whether A House of Dynamite is commentary, catharsis, or just a really well-timed spark. Before annihilation, Reviews (1:23:30) and the Mailbag (1:35:16) blow the doors open for closing thoughts. As always, join us as we sift through the philosophical and non-philosophical aspects of the debris left smoldering in the film's wake.
Academy Award®-winning composer Volker Bertelmann joins guest host Jon Burlingame to explore his gripping and sonically inventive score for “A House of Dynamite.” Their conversation delves into his use of unconventional textures, low-frequency resonance, and layered instrumental techniques to create a sense of mounting dread throughout the film. And as Bertelmann explains, embracing irregular and unexpected sounds became central to building the score's tension and character.“I learned that when I was working a lot with prepared piano sounds, there were a lot of random sounds that just somehow did what they want. The material was just jumping somewhere and was landing somewhere and just created a noise. Which you normally would say, ‘oh sorry, that is a mistake.' But when you leave that in there, suddenly this mistake becomes a part of the texture that is a part of the music. I recognize that this is very helpful with tension. Because once you drop something that is irregular, somehow the brain wants to have an answer to that. And also you get thrown out of your normal listening habits. And then suddenly, you are back into the film and you just say, ‘oh, what was that?'”—Volker Bertelmann, Composer, “A House of Dynamite”Be sure to check out “A House of Dynamite,” now streaming on Netflix in Dolby Vision® and Dolby Atmos®.And check out our other episode with Director Kathryn Bigelow and the creative team behind “A House of Dynamite” on YouTube! Please subscribe to Dolby Creator Talks wherever you get your podcasts. You can also check out the video for this episode on YouTube.Learn more about the Dolby Creator Lab and check out Dolby.com.
