Listeners with long memories may remember back in the pre-COVID days, we used to provide an irreverent movie news column for our mid month show. When film production essentially stopped, we decide to mothball news as, to be frank, there wasn’t any, other than movie postponements. It was just too depressing. Now we are back and like the rest of your At The Flicks shows, bigger and bolder than ever. Each month we have set a target to get you the best movie news. Our aim is to try to get you an exclusive on a movie production, as well a humorous piece and something potentially prestigious. This month, for our first stand alone movie news show, I am sure you will agree we have met all of those targets. Writer / director Max Van De Banks tells us about his new film Mudlark which starts production at the end of March. Max talks about the idea, the locations and the casting. In fact, all the info you need to convince you this is a must see short feature. After Max, we let Graham loose to tell us all about what his favourite actor has been up to during lockdown. He certainly has been busy, and Graham gets very excited explaining that to you. Then Neil tells us what Rebel Wilson is about to start filming in the UK. I bet you are thinking zany comedy – you could not be more wrong! Neil reveals all he has found out about this worthy movie. Lastly, Jeff sneaks on to tell us about a soundtrack he has been listening to on hard rotation since Christmas. It is a remarkable piece of work from a composer who is not as well known as he should be. Here it is listeners, our new movie news format. What do you think? Please drop us a line to let us know your views. Your thoughts are, as always, very welcome. Enjoy and stay safe.
就算胃痛我還是要錄==+ 之後會做劇情的文章解釋,不過可能會有點長喔XD 可以當讀書的背景音試試。 In 2020, human boxers are replaced by robots. Charlie Kenton, a former boxer, owns Ambush, but loses it in a fight against a bull belonging to promoter and carnival owner Ricky. Having bet with Ricky that Ambush would win, Charlie absconds before Ricky can collect. After the fight, Charlie learns that his ex-girlfriend died and he must now attend a hearing deciding the future of their son, Max, a robot-boxing fan with whom Charlie has virtually no contact since Max was born. Max's maternal aunt, Debra, and her wealthy husband, Marvin, want full custody, which Charlie (not really an "ideal father") bargains for $100,000, half in advance, and Marvin negotiates that Charlie retains Max for three months while Marvin and Debra go on vacation. Settling into a gym owned by Bailey Tallet, the daughter of Charlie's former boxing coach, Charlie acquires the once-famous Noisy Boy, but it is destroyed in a subsequent fight against Midas. As Charlie and Max attempt to scavenge parts from a junkyard to make a new robot, Max discovers Atom, an obsolete but intact sparring robot designed to withstand severe damage, and can mirror opponent and handler movements and store them in its memory due to its rare "shadow function". At Max's behest, Charlie pits Atom against Metro, whom Atom overcomes. Max programs Noisy Boy's vocal-respond controls in Atom, and convinces Charlie to help him with Atom's fighting-move memory. This results in a series of victories, culminating in Charlie being offered a fight in World Robot Boxing, pitting Atom against national champion Twin Cities. The fight starts with Atom on the attack, but Twin Cities easily takes the offensive. Charlie notices a hitch whenever Twin Cities throws a right punch, and using this, Charlie controls Atom to a win by knockout. Elated by their success, Max challenges undefeated global champion Zeus, with the audience squarely on their side. After the fight, Ricky and his two henchmen attack Charlie for bailing earlier and rob him and max of their winnings, prompting a defeated and dejected Charlie to return Max to Debra. This upsets Max, and when Charlie tries to convince him that living without him is better for Max, Max says he always wanted Charlie to fight for him and be there as a father. After Max leaves, Charlie returns to Tallet's Gym. While talking with Bailey about the events, the two kiss, revealing their attraction to each other. Persuaded by Bailey, Charlie arranges the Zeus challenge Max wanted and convinces Debra to allow Max to witness the fight. Zeus dominates early, knocking Atom down with its first punch; Atom continues to get back up despite Zeus' punishment. Atom survives the first round, stunning the audience. Ricky, who had made a $100,000 bet with Finn, a friend of Charlie's, that Atom would not last the first round, tries to slip away, but is cornered by the fight's bookmakers. Meanwhile in the ring, Atom lands multiple punches but continues to be knocked down repeatedly. Late in the fourth round, Atom's vocal-respond controls are damaged, forcing Charlie to use its shadow function to make Atom mimic his boxing skills. With Zeus' programmers unable to compensate, the designer, Tak Mashido, personally takes control like Charlie has. Zeus is given a sound beating, once even hitting the ground and barely avoiding losing by knockout, but wins the match by number of hits since Atom could not beat it within the limit of five rounds. Zeus remains undefeated, but with Mashido's group left humiliated by the near-loss, and Atom is triumphantly labeled the people's champion. Powered by Firstory Hosting

Particularly if you're a parent of an addict, on this episode, you'll hear some poignant advice and strategies for dealing with a loved one who's suffering with addiction. After Max divorced, and began shooting meth with his brother, things were going predictably bad. Given his family's penchant for becoming alcoholics addicts none of this, nor his constant returns to jail, were surprising... Through a gradual process of education, in-patient rehabilitation, sincere 12-step work and the efforts by his mother to exercise more healthy family dynamics ultimately led Max to trudge the road of Happy Destiny. Today, at more than 17 years clean and sober, Max has published a book, runs a counseling practice (with a focus on addiction therapy), and takes care of his family. Max Nijst is truly a Recovery Author.

In this episode of Yoga | Birth | Babies, I speak with licensed social worker and Program Director of the Motherhood Center of New York, Paige Bellenbaum. This deeply honest and moving discussion needs to be heard and discussed with all expectant women, partners and support people. It is reported that 1 in 5 women experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. It’s important to note that this statistic is only based on reported cases and that many more women will suffer in silence. Many professionals feel a more accurate statistic is 1 in 3 people. Paige bravely discusses her own debilitating experience with postpartum depression and anxiety and her commitment to supporting those experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. In this episode: What brought Paige to this work and her own experience with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. How common perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are for women Seeing and understanding the symptoms of PMADs Do PMADs go away on their own? What OBGYNs, midwives and pediatricians are doing in regards to PMADs The difficulty many women face telling anyone they are struggling How a friend, partner or family member can tell someone if they think their loved one is suffering from a PMAD Do PMADs only happen after the birth of your first child Who is at greater risk for a PMAD Places someone suffering from PDAD can seek help About Paige: Paige started her social work career working at a homeless shelter for families in San Francisco, where she built a $4 million Housing and Aftercare Program for families transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. She then moved to New York City in 2000 to get her Masters of Social Work at Columbia University. After she graduated, she worked for an organization called the Center for Family Life located in Sunset Park Brooklyn as a Community Developer, where she was responsible for community outreach and relations for the organization. She also oversaw a food pantry and advocacy clinic. Paige then worked as the Director of Advocacy and Community Outreach for Habitat for Humanity – New York City for many years. While at Habitat, she had her first child – Max. After Max was born, Paige suffered from severe postpartum depression that almost cost her her own life. Once she began to heal, she became committed to fighting for education, screening and treatment for postpartum depression so that no more women would have to suffer silently. She drafted legislation in New York State that was championed by State Senator Liz Krueger, mandating education and strongly encouraging screening of all new and expecting mothers that was signed into law in 2014. Paige has been an outspoken advocate on the issue of postpartum depression, and uses her own story as a tool for change. She has appeared on the Today Show, NPR, PBS Newshour and in Women’s Health Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and several other print publications. Paige left her post as Director of Community Programs at Settlement Housing Fund to help open The Motherhood Center, where she oversaw a portfolio of programs ranging from a homeless shelter for families, transitional housing, a state of the art computer lab, and an alternative to incarceration program for young adults. Paige is currently on the steering committee of the NYC Maternal Depression Collaborative that is responsible for implementing the First Lady’s commitment to screening every new and expecting mother for postpartum depression.
