Max Michael Clendaniel brought the question this week. It was a good one. Essentially: "Do you have an interesting story attached to a significant event?".Then Max answered his question by telling a great story about a super-awkward moment that occurred while he was filming at the 2017 Oscars. Our guest, Johanna Botta, then answered the question with a super-interesting story involving a super awkward experience while she attended the VMAs.Ivan Samuel Berry then answered the question with a super-fascinating story of the time he managed to get an exclusive interview with Childish Gamino. Then Kevin Gary Phillips said some words. Anyway, In this episode, Max introduced Ivan and Kevin to his friend Johanna Botta. Johanna was one of the cast members on the reality TV show "The Real World Austin". Johanna gives us a little peek into what it was like being a young twenty something reality star back when it was a complete surprise to become famous after one of these shows.Super interesting episode, and I must insist that you listen to it and enjoy...I SAID ENJOY!!!!

Max gets to mid week by having fun with Mitch McConnell's new nickname, Moscow Mitch which seems to have upset McConnell no end. Then Max gets to his suggestion on how to needle the Donster and it includes Trump Tower, and gold. After Max get back to McConnell's state of Kentucky and how badly it does compared to other states, which reminds Max that 9 of the 10 poorest states are, shock horror, run by Republicans. Max also goes through the list of items that the GOP has said they were going to do, and what they have succeeded at.... not a lot.
The Maxster starts the week by confessing his many weaknesses, in particular when it comes to chocolate, but this gets Max going on an Easter theme and allows Max to show his total lack of religious education. But as always the main issue for Max is nothing is being done for everyday Americans right now, as Max reminds us, neither Democrats or Republicans are doing anything useful for us. Then Max gets into one of his favorite topics, tariffs, and how tariffs are nothing more than an increase in taxes on the middle class. Somehow Max manages to bring all this together in his overview of washing machines.
For the first time in a while we feature a positive story about streaming services, specifically that the amount of money being spent on music is going up and that 75% of it is spent on streaming services all that and more courtesy of Dan. Then Max tells us a bit about the Momo phenomenon that’s going on with children these days, Dan tells us about the new Hellboy Trailer and his extremely cautious optimism, and Max rounds us out with more Ghostbusters news, because of course he does.Is there something you think we should have seen or want to know if we’ve seen? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter!
Max hits Thursday by trying to understand why Howard “Starbucksman” Shultz is running as an independent, when what he actually says makes no sense as an independent whatsoever, which upsets the Maxster no end. Then Max gets to the rather strange words from Michael Bloomberg and Kamala Harris which he finds rather disturbing. Finally Max gets all nerdy on the differences in healthcare systems in major western countries before getting on his high horse about the cost of insulin and how Venezuela was not actually a socialist a country.
Max gets fired up right out of the gate by talking about the government shutdown, but gets distracted by the absolute stupidity of his fellow human beings; even it would seem hit-men riding bikes. Then Max gets into topics closer to home, in this case Rudy Giuliani’s constant tactic of saying one thing on TV, and then on more than one occasion having to put out a statement clarifying what he said was not actually correct after all. Next Max addresses some criticism he has received, which with his low self-esteem, delivers a huge blow to Max and he wonders how he can continue, although Max recovers enough to yet again deliver a solution to the shutdown problem, everyone should watch porn.
Max hits Thursday by reminding us yet again that 800,000 fellow Americans are out of work, most with bills to pay and no end in sight for the government shutdown, although Nancy Pelosi and Donald Trump seem to be playing games with these people’s lives. So much for taking care of the Average Working Man. Then Max jumps to Rudy Giuliani who as Max explains reminds him more and more of one of those wind up monkeys banging cymbals. Finally Max offers a solution to the wall problem, yet somehow it seems to involve mimes.
This week Dan and Max have a great variety of things. Dan leads us off with discussion about the trailer for “The Christmas Chronicles” but not because it’s a Christmas movie, because it stars Kurt Russell as Santa Claus and looks hilarious. Then Max tells us all about how JJ Abrams is setting himself up to be the new 80’s Spielberg and tying to work creative deals with just about every major studio. Dan tells us all about Ana Lily Amirpour’s newest film “Blood Moon” a New Orleans set 90’s adventure film that promises to be fully amazing if her previous work is any indication of her skill. Then Max rounds us out letting us know about Eli Roth’s “History of Horror” which is an awesome show about movies hosted by a guy who is one of the biggest ever fans of movies.
Max hits his next show talking about how poverty can be defined even in a state as prosperous California in such a way as to be deceptive. California now has the fifth largest economy in the United States yet by any standards it has a high number of people considered to be in poverty, which leads to Max’s point that an average high income can hide how many people are in poverty. Given that the cost of healthcare is a driver of poverty, Max actually congratulates Donald Trump, much to Max’s amazement, on the concept of trying to control the cost of prescription drugs based on pricing from other countries. But as Max explains, what odds would you give that Donald Trump would actually follow through on this proposal? Not much is Max’s answer. Then Max gets into the affect this may have on the drug companies themselves, which as Max explains, many of them are not even American. Shock, horror. In fact 50% of the top 20 drug companies in the world are NOT American. How can this be? Next Max gets into the ten pipe bombs that were mailed recently to top Democrats and their supporters, and the fact that Donald Trump’s supporters are saying as no one was killed, it is all a head fake by some left wing nut to make Trump looked bad. Oh the deviousness of the Left! Although Max does explain who he thinks actually made the bombs.
Max starts his week yet again while trying to recover from a busy Monday by having a very nice cup of tea to help calm his nerves after Trumps love fest with Ted Cruz. Max then gets into the fact that many Americans are so jaded by the politicians of both parties that they cannot even be bothered to vote. It gets worse though, they feel if they do vote, no one in DC will listen to them so what’s the point as will not make any difference in their lives. Max quotes some voters from Middle America to make his point, which Max finds all very depressing as they all feel let down by the pols in DC. Then Max gets to the list of issues that they do care about, healthcare, jobs, education, infrastructure which is clear that the politicians in DC are not doing anything about. Which brings Max to the point that the woman in America are not only poorly served by politicians, they are also poorly served by the pundits, as Max points out, there is no way Laura Ingram, Anne Coulter, Rachel Maddow and others are doing a good job for women in America. Max jumps to the Trump & Ted show, where Donald Trump showed up a rally in Houston to support his new BFF Ted Cruz and how Trump will pass a fantastic Middle Class tax cut, which really would be a miracle given that Congress is not in session. Max is running out of time, but he still finds time to ask Pat Robertson about the 11th Commandment. Who knew that even existed? Eventually Max gets to his quote of the day, when listening to any politicians ask this question, why is this lying bastard lying to me?
Max hits midweek with of course a take on the Kavanaugh nomination for the Supreme Court. You would think that if the GOP believed in Kavanaugh they would allow for an open forum into his actions or not as the case may be. But as the GOP has not released all his documents, nor wants to call more than the “he said she said” witnesses, it does make you wonder what it is they’re trying to hide. Plus you would think that Kavanaugh would want to be cleared even if it delays his sitting on the Supreme Court, and that he would want his friend Mark Judge to testify, not that this has stopped the GOP from trying to rush the inauguration of Kavanaugh through. And let’s not forget that Dr. Ford has options even if she does not appear for the hearing on Monday. Then Max has to go back to poor old Jeff Sessions and yet more slings and arrows thrown at him by Donald Trump, why does he even stay? Max doesn’t even have time to get to how the GOP has blown up the deficit and Trump doesn’t even get his wall.
Max wants to start his week by talking about who else, Judge Kavanaugh and his new problems with getting confirmed on the Supreme Court. But Max has to get over the new news that the Trumpster wants to add another $200b worth of Chinese goods to his tariff list which already has tariffs on $50b in goods. n this case the tariffs would be 10% but will increase to 25% in the New Year. Put another way, this is a tax on the middle class. Max gets into his ideas on how China might actually retaliate, which for certain will not be pretty as Max, who has been to China many times, reminds his listeners that Chinese people have something called ‘face’ which will not allow them to back down on the fight with Trump. Next Max has to jump into going after Ted Cruz yet again, well just because he cannot help himself. Max then goes back to Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, about how miserable they are so he decides to combine a new name for them, the Sour Twins. Then Max has to jump into the Bret Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court and how the accuser, in saying that Kavanaugh attacked her 36 years ago, might be handled by Trump. Max decides he will probably try to seduce her as she seems quite cute.
Max starts off this show by lamenting that his glass of Scotch is 95% empty, so much so that Max’s long suffering producer Dan having listened to Max moan for too long drops everything to come in and refill the glass. Max does wonder when Paul Ryan will grow a pair, when Trump will tell the truth, and when Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity will actually tell the truth to their own audience. Although Max is feeling good about Trump's words of wisdom that hurricanes are “tremendously wet,” which is something Max had never heard before from a President. Ever. Such insight. Next Max reminds everyone, yet again that he did actually believe in several of Trump's policies, unfortunately Trump has failed miserably to deliver on any of them. Next Max has to jump into Trumps now infamous Tweet about how it is a Democrat plot to make him look bad when it was announced nearly 3000 people died in Puerto Rico. Then Max decides if anyone should be called “snowflakes” it should be Republicans. Everyone is out to get them, Google, Facebook, the press, Deep State, it’s amazing there are any Republicans in office at all. Max cannot resist one more dig at Geraldo Rivera. Max does have some good news though from the tax cut, it is now much cheaper to buy a corporate jet. Who says the tax cuts aren’t helping the middle class. Finally Max quotes one his favourite foils, Paul Ryan AKA the Cowardly Lion.
Max and his long suffering producer are quite pleased with themselves as they have been able to re-stock the bar in the Max Miller Studio, as Max finds heavy doses of alcohol numbs any pain he has from these political times. Max spends a few minutes giving us his view of 9/11 and then jumps into Donald Trump’s take on Hurricane Florence which apparently is going to be “tremendously wet.” Great observation there Donald. Max then announces his new nickname for Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity which he has now decided to call them the Sour Twins. Max also spends some time delivering his new theory on who wrote the now infamous op-ed that was in the New York Times, where he decides it’s much more like Murder on the Orient Express. Then Max gets into the new Bob Woodward book which came out on 9/11, which Trump says is a pack of lies. Who are you going to believe, Max explains, Woodward or Trump. Besides is there anything in the book that surprises you? It would be a surprise if Woodward said that Trump really is a very stable genius and can actually stay awake for 25 hours straight. Now THAT would have been real news, instead all we have is confirmation of what we have heard before. Next Max jumps into the massive increase in the deficit under a Republican majority. Holy cow!
We're living in it, folks. The Robot Future is upon us! But first, Dan and Max have stuff to chat about. Dan brings us some of the news we've been waiting the longest for, that One Punch Man season 2 is coming out next year! Then Max tells us all about the comic Eclipse, both that the new arc is out now and that it's been optioned as a TV show! Max starts off by reminding us that politicians are really, usually scum who deserve limited respect at best are in fact below lawyers and used car salesman. As ever Max tries to cover an entire week in less than thirty minutes, but fails miserably. He starts off with Trump's already infamous meeting with Putin and reminds us we have no idea what was agreed to, and reminds us that had Clinton or Obama done this, then Shallow Hal (Sean Hannity) would have had a stroke on live TV. It’s made worse of course that Trumps own people have no idea what was discussed with Putin, but Max does have one fact, Putin gave Trump his annual performance review and it was probably very good. Max then reminds us that why should we care about Russia, given that Russia’s GDP per person is the same as Mexico, and their entire GDP is the same as Italy’s? Next Max gets back into that helpless gimboid Carter Page who seems to have been born with a permanent foot in his mouth. Then Max goes over how the phrase should not be “America First” but really “Citizens First,” as a president should represent all Americans when it comes to the security and safety of its citizens. Max also goes over yet again about Trump's mental issues when Trump stated that is father was born in Germany….um.. not true. Trumps dad was born in the US. Next Max gets into all the payoff and affairs that Trump seems to have had and how Mrs. Trump cried when she found out Trump had won the election. No wonder. Finally Max explains, yet again how Trumps Tariffs will really affect the Average Working Man or Woman
Max kicks off his mid-week show, by wondering what the word “Grand” means in the Grand Old Party and if anyone in the GOP would actually stand up for what they believe is right. In particular the Cowardly Lion, Paul Ryan and Lindsey Graham who never quite seem to be able to grow a spine, yet they wear the American flag on their lapels just to prove to us how patriotic they are. Then Max gets into Donald Trump’s word salad when he tries to explain the difference between “wouldn’t” and “would.” The only person who seemed to believe this was Laura Ingram and Sean Hannity who are looking more servile with each passing day and are clearly wondering what it is they have got themselves into. Although Ingram is clearly so naive that she would let anyone who says they are from Microsoft access her home PC. Of course we have absolutely no idea what was discussed during the two hour meeting with Putin even though Trump claims it was great success. Then Max jumps into the Democrats, where the hell are you?? Are not capable of doing anything for the average American. Finally even though he is running out of time, Max does find a few minutes to talk about tariffs.
Episode 30 feels like sort of a milestone so why not get two fantastic wrestlers to come have a chat. Every spring Max and his brother Will go to the pond at the end of their street to look for tadpoles. They love to catch them so they can watch them turn into frogs. This spring when Max and Will go to the pond to catch tadpoles, they see a turtle sitting on a log enjoying the Sun. "Look at the cool turtle," says Will. "Should we try to catch it?" Max asks. Will answers, "I like catching tadpoles better." Max agrees with Will. They fill their bucket with tadpoles and head home. When they get there, they empty the bucket into a big, wide tub. They cover the tub with a screen so animals can't get to the tadpoles. They keep the tub in the shade so the water does not get too hot. Max and Will go to the pond every day to bring back fresh water and leaves from the bottom f the pond for the tadpoles to eat. After six weeks, the tadpoles grow into frogs. Max starts the week by wondering what the Max Miller Dog is dreaming about as he lays about the studio. Max starts by thanking Sean Hannity otherwise known as Shallow Hal for it turns out as Trumps BFF, he is talking to Donald every night probably as they eat a Happy Meal, and trying to keep him on even keel. Uh no, Hannity is doing none of those things. He is reinforcing Trumps persecution issues to the detriment of his own viewers and listeners. But he is not called “Shallow Hall” for nothing. Max wonders if Hannity will call out Trump for saying he wants to help Chinese company ZTE because many Chinese jobs are at stake. As the Donald said, ZTE buys American components.. Uh yes they do. But ZTE was banned from buying US components because our own security forces are saying the finished products could be used to spy on us! Holy cow! Yet Donald wants to override his own advisers. Then Max digs into how this all ties together with China, ZTE, Iran, American farmers and of course a game of golf. Finally wonders how many times Mika from Morning Joe says the word “wow."
Max and Guest Marshall Shaffer are talking about Jason Reitman films. They start by talking about the Cannes Film Festival announcements. The trailer of the week is for Disney's Solo: A Star Wars Story. Then Max and Marshall talked about some of the films directed by Jason Reitman in anticipation of his new film Tully. Max starts off by giving his take on the recent Austin bombings and the effect on the city of Austin where he lives. Next Max gets into Donald’s recent telephone call with Russia’s Putin to congratulate him on his recent electoral win as after all, it was a free and fair election. Of course he was told in big bold letters “DO NOT CONGRATULATE” as otherwise Donald might have a hard time reading such big words. Needless to say, Donald ignored this advice, which let’s not forget leaked out immediately from Donald Trump’s own White House. Then Max gets into Trump’s choice of lawyers, they may not be lawyerly but they play one on TV. Sure seems to Max that Trump has found a class A legal team and is bound to have Mueller quaking in his boots. Plus now it seems like two more women are suing the Donster, one for defamation, which is the case that could really cause Donald a lot a problems. Here name is Summer Zervos, so now we have Summer & Stormy. No one could make this stuff up.
Max hits his stride for his Wednesday evening show when he encourages Donald Trump to create the Space Force, an idea that seemed to please the Trumpster no end. Then Max goes back to the well once more that is known as Stormy Daniels, because as we know this supposedly has nothing to do with Trump or the Trump organization, then come to find out that the latest injunction against Stormy Daniels was signed by a top lawyer from the Trump Organization, who claimed to be acting in a personal capacity. Wow. How is it that Donald Trump seems to get lawyers to do things for him out the goodness of their hearts? Then Max digs into the recent election in Pennsylvania with Coner Lamb where it turns out that the so-called middle class tax cuts, were surprise, surprise, not resonating with the voters. Apparently the reason the GOP lost, according to the GOP themselves, was that Lamb ran as a Republican. Whatever makes you feel better guys. Finally Max is surprised to find out that Trump's new economic czar does not in fact have an economics background. Who'd thunk it.

Why is this podcast different from every other podcast? Because this week, Max and Corinne are celebrating Passover with all the fixins. Max and Corinne talk about what being Jewish means to them, which in Corinne's case involves embezzling money from the Hebrew school snack bar. Two guests join the show, and although neither is the prophet Elijah both drink more than few glasses of wine. First off Corinne's best friend Matt drops by to talk dick pic etiquette and review the latest Survivor nudes. Then Max and Corinne are joined by Mikey Glazer of The Wrap - the journalist who broke the story of the Second Chance pregame alliance conference calls - for the recap. Voicemails feature tips on how to smuggle drugs onto the island in a tampon and the dirt on Corinne's relationship with Survivor's top Jew. All that, plus Randy's rant, and much, much more. MYSTERIOUS MATTERS OF MAX METTERS by Peter Gelman (audiobook podcast)
This is narration of Chapter 5 of the novel MYSTERIOUS MATTERS OF MAX METTERS by PETER GELMAN. Chapter description: Max takes Meri to Lafcadio's Open Mike Night. Max and friends improvise "an experiment in bad rock-and-parole" (including "twicky twicky in the night"). Arthur wants to talk to Max but Max avoids him. Then Max and Meri walk through the snow to see a movie and figure out how to talk to each other. Novel description: Passion, philosophy, fisticuffs and word ferment... This is a “boy meets girl” story. Max discovers that Meri has a secret. He gives her every chance to tell it. Defiant, he even fights friends who try to warn him. Max vibrates with energy and feeling, an unrealistic way to live. This leads to troubled love affairs, complex friendships, tumbling thoughts and mad conversations. In the ‘90s, readers passed around the Do-it-Yourself photocopied pages of this punk rock romantic novel. Now, new readers can discover its vigorous “maximalist” voice that celebrates the sound and taste of words. Available as a paper book or ebook (Kindle, Nook): tinyurl.com/maxmetters .
