On the final episode of Season One of Bristlecone Firesides, Abbey and Madison are joined by Esther Meroño Baro and Luis Miranda. Both Esther and Luis are some of the best activists for environmental and social justice issues in the Utah/Salt Lake area. To close out a season of conversations about faith and reconnection with the Earth, we will end with a deep and robust discussion about how to utilize our faith on behalf of the world. Faith traditions around the globe begin with an affirmation of the inherent dignity and divinity of all beings and the Earth. How can we best practice our faith to live this affirmation into the real world? What are the parallels between the life of activism and a life of faith? Are they the same? The Sound of The Trumpet with Faith Marie Baczko

I have taught many times on the story of Esther as have many, and have tended to focus on certain chapters, as in chapter 4, where she courageously makes the decision to go before the king, despite protocol stating that unless the king put forth his scepter, her death would be guaranteed. Esther made the decision to risk her life for the cause of her people and said those famous words, “If I perish, I perish!”  Both Esther and Mordecai received great favor because of their obedience to God. However, God began to highlight to me the process Esther went through before she was chosen to be Queen.

The story of Queen Esther may have more to teach us than we realize. In this message, we discover why Vashti's story and background may hold the key to fully unlock the story of Esther. It was Martin Luther King who said "There comes a time when silence is betrayal." Both Esther and Vashti knew this personally. How do you know when your time has come to speak out? And once you know, what do you say?

Today on the Working Christian Mom Podcast, I chat with my friend and fellow multi-passionate entrepreneur Esther Littlefield. Esther is a pastor's wife, a mama and the host of The Christian Women Leadership Podcast where she women in leadership to lead well and with confidence. Esther never expected to become a pastor’s wife and in our conversation, she shares about her journey to finding safe people to confide in, what it’s like to be a Working Christian Mom pastor’s wife and how she got over the guilt about not being a stay at home mom. Two Big Takeaways from my conversation with Esther: We all need to find safe people to confide in. Esther and I both believe that we need close relationships with trusted friends. When Esther was experiencing marriage troubles, she couldn’t confide in just anyone at her church. She found safe people who she knew would keep her trust. We all need these people in our lives. And when someone trusts us with their hurts and worries, we need to hold sacred space with that instead of gossiping. If you’re seeking something and don’t see it out there, perhaps you’re being called to create it. Both Esther and I created spaces for women online through our podcasts because we were craving the community we were looking for. Esther also created a Bible Study at her church because she didn’t see what she was looking for. Often times, we have the tendency to stay on the sidelines, wait and wish someone else would just hurry up and create something for us. But often times, that stirring in  your heart is the Lord prompting YOU to start!   Links Mentioned [affiliate links] Create Your Laptop Life Tick Remover UMass Amherst Tick Service About Our Guest: Esther Littlefield is the writer at EstherLittlefield.com and host of The Christian Woman Leadership Podcast, where she encourages and equips women to embrace their God-given gifts, skills, and passions in order to lead with confidence. She is also the founder and CEO of Morningstar Media Services, a digital marketing agency which helps female entrepreneurs run and grow their businesses. Never satisfied to do just ONE thing, Esther stays busy as a pastor's wife, mom, leader, friend, and entrepreneur. Esther combines her background as a social worker, network marketer, and blogger to help others achieve their goals in their life and business. When she’s not running her agency, writing, or dreaming up a new idea, you can find Esther heading out for a hike with her family, sipping a cup of coffee, or enjoying the occasional Netflix binge. Nicholas Garnett and Esther Martinez are a phenomenal storytelling duo and the editors and producers of Lip Service: True Stories Out Loud. Lip Service is a storytelling theatrical performance where people submit real life stories and get to read them in front of an audience. The Miami Book Fair adopted the program back in 2012 and since then Lip Service has gone on to partner with local organizations and put together events like Storypalooza - informal storytelling events where readers get feedback from a panel, and official Lip Service events with eight readers, each with eight minute stories. You'll hear us speak about the art of storytelling and the "high" readers experience after telling their stories. The topics always vary, but most times readers find themselves sharing secrets and life events that they've never been able to say out loud. Both Esther and Nic agree on the healing properties that sharing a story for others to hear can do for the heart and soul. Toward the end of this episode you'll hear a reading from Nic and Esther - please note these stories contain sensitive topics. @RoamFreeWrites @MeetThemMondays www.roamfreewrites.com

Neal looked at one of the books of the bible which has everything! It`s a story of power, drama, betrayal, intrigue, passion, murder , suspense, irony, poetic justice and finally a happy ending! We are talking about the book of Esther. If you have not read the book please read the story first – its only 10 chapters and will bless you so much! Neal paraphrased the story and we began to understand what a great story this is – God working in a powerful country through two people to bring rescue and salvation to his people! Although God is not actually mentioned anywhere in the book we can see that he is working all through the story and as Matthew Henry says “Though the name of God isn`t found in this book, the finger of God is, directing many minute events for the bringing about of his peoples deliverance” We looked at three things we learn from this story 1. God`s timing is always perfect – even though it may not seem like that to us! Esther was in place as the Queen for “such a time as this” (4vs 14) and even though everything was done at the 11th hour – God had provided the answers – he just needed Esther and Mordecai to trust him and see salvation come to all. God`s timing is not our timing and we have to learn to trust God even though time may be running out – His hand moves at the right time and this story should encourage us that he know what he is doing! As we seek to tell others about Jesus trust that this is a moment “ for such a time as this”!! You inviting someone to Alpha or telling them about Jesus is a moment that can change someone`s life for eternity! 2. God is in control – but it may not always be obvious! God does not always work in the foreground – often he works unseen in the background – but he in control and asks us to trust him – There are so many coincidences in the book of Esther – I would rather call them God moments – A good friend of mine used to say that a coincidence is when God does a miracle but decides to remain anonymous! God is in control and just look at the following…. The King divorces his wife Esther is chosen to be Queen Mordecai saves the Kings Life The King cannot sleep – Mordecai is saved Haman`s plot is foiled – the very day he is seeking to hang Mordecai ! 3. What God did for his people was amazing and a wonderful story of rescue and salvation – and yet he has done the same for us! Read Ephesians chapter 2 – It tells you where we were and where we are now in Christ – This is our story which we can get excited about every day! What does God promise? “Certe Cruce Salus” – Sure salvation through the cross!! Questions: A: We often struggle with God`s timing being perfect as we want answers now! How can we learn to trust God more and know that his timing is always perfect? B: When we cannot see God working in the foreground in our lives we often feel he is not working at all? Does this story help us to see that he is in control even though we cannot see all the answers? Pray for God Moments and coincidences this week and let`s see what God can do! C: God works in partnership with people and always has done as its about our relationship with God – he uses us to tell others about Christ – both verbally but also by the lives we lead – Both Esther and Mordecai did what was right in God`s eyes and refused to be bowed down by power, authority and evil – they retained their values and belief no matter what was thrown at them. Is this a challenge for us whatever our situation? This story illustrates what can be done by God when people listen, trust and have faith – I trust this will encourage us all! Have a great week and please pray for Alpha starting on the 21st September!
