7 December 2025 | This week pastor Evan continues our Comfort & Joy sermon series in Micah 5:2-5, on how during our most intense moments of anxiety and insecurity, God's word breaks through the most. [a] But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. 3 Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel. 4 And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. 5 And he shall be their peace. When the Assyrian comes into our land and treads in our palaces, then we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight princes of men;
We learn from Jacob's blessing on Judah in Genesis 49 that the seed of the Woman in Genesis 3:15 is a royal seed. Underlying the conflict between nations, between husbands and wives, between employer and employees is the question: "Who will rule?"God's royal Scepter belongs to only one individual - Shiloh - who has routed the Serpent and alone has the right to reign.

As we begin this Advent season preparing for Christmas, the plan is to look at five Old Testament prophecies that were fulfilled in the birth of Jesus Christ.This week we look at Jacob's blessing of his son Judah (sometime around 2000 B.C.), foretelling that God would raise up kings in the tribe of Judah, until all people have been gathered before one king of Judah.The Text: “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be” (Gen. 49:8-12).King's Cross Church is a member congregation of the CREC in Moscow, ID. Start with a claim that won't let you shrug: the Father calls the Son God. We walk through Hebrews chapter 1 line by line to see how Scripture itself lifts Jesus above every created being, from angels to kings, and then crowns him with a righteous scepter. If angels refuse worship but Jesus receives it, what does that say about who he is and what he has done?We explore the rich language of radiance and exact representation, unpacking the ancient seal-and-wax imagery that shows the Son bears the very nature of God in human flesh. From identity flows mission: he upholds all things by his powerful word, makes purification for sins, and then sits down at the right hand of Majesty. That seated posture declares the work is finished and the King is enthroned. Along the way, we trace a web of Old Testament citations—Psalms 2, 45, and more—that anchor Trinitarian theology in the Hebrew Scriptures, not in later speculation.This conversation is for listeners who want sturdy, text-driven clarity: Jesus is not a created being, not merely a messenger, and not a rival deity. He is the worthy one whose name is more excellent than the angels, the rightful heir of David's throne, and the ruler with a righteous scepter who loves righteousness and hates lawlessness. For anyone under pressure or tempted to drift, Hebrews 1 offers more than comfort; it offers a captivating vision of Christ that fuels endurance, worship, and hope.If this deep dive strengthened your faith, follow the show, share it with a friend who loves careful Bible study, and leave a rating so more people can rediscover the power and beauty of Hebrews.Support the showThank you for listening!! In this episode we invite David Nathan to look back on his illustrious 60 years as "the British Ambassador of Soul". Our guest commences by recalling his gateway into Black American music: the covers of Shirelles and Miracles classics included on the first two Beatles albums. He furthermore describes the thrill of seeing Motown star Mary Wells supporting the Fab Four at Kilburn's State Cinema in October 1964, followed by his founding of the Nina Simone Appreciation Society. We hear about the Soul City record store David ran with the legendary Dave Godin – and about John Abbey's trailblazing Blues & Soul magazine, for which our guest began writing in 1968. Barney quotes from David's 1968 B&S profile of Aretha Franklin, with whom he later enjoyed a long friendship. The release of Make It Easy on Yourself – a box set David compiled of Dionne Warwick's immortal Scepter recordings – is the cue for us to hear clips from his 2012 audio interview with the Bacharach & David muse... and to learn about another "soulful diva" who became his close friend. We bring our guest's story more up-to-date with his reflections on yet another diva/pal, the one and only Chaka Khan. Mention of the former Rufus frontwoman's favourite producer, Arif Mardin, leads to discussion of Main Course, the Mardin-helmed album on which the Bee Gees "went disco" 50 long summers ago. David then reminisces about his own disco dalliances in '70s New York and his mid-'80s coastal switch to L.A. We wrap up by paying tribute to another key white writer on Black R&B and soul: the late Michael Lydon, whose voice can be heard in this episode introducing his fabulous 1977 audio interview with the wicked Wilson Pickett. Mark and Jasper talk us out with their thoughts on (and quotes from) pieces recently added to the RBP library, including Jim Farber's 1978 interview with Earth, Wind & Fire's Maurice White and Ian Winwood's 2001 trashing of Creed live in Louisville. Many thanks to special guest David Nathan. Visit his website at davidnathan.com. Dionne Warwick: Make It Easy On Yourself – The Scepter Recordings 1962-1971 is out now on SoulMusic Records. Pieces discussed: Aretha Franklin: Aretha's Artistry, Dionne Warwick (2012), Chaka Khan: Back...From Back In The Day, Back on course with the Bee Gees, How the Bee Gees got into Disco: An Oral History of Main Course, Arif Mardin: Producer, Wilson Pickett (1977), Return of the Wicked Pickett, Top Tunes: The Beach Boys, Bobby Womack: Bobby's got Understanding, Earth Wind & Fire: Extraterrestrial R&B, Creed live and From Kingston with love.

In this second-to-last sermon through Genesis, we explore the powerful prophetic blessings Jacob gives to his sons, with a special focus on Judah. Through Judah's prophecy in Genesis 49, we see four vivid images that point to Jesus: the Lion, the Scepter, the Colt and Vine, and the Wine and Blood. Each image reveals a different aspect of Christ's character, including His victory, rule, abundance, and sacrifice. This passage calls us to trust in Jesus, live in His victory, and The post Genesis 49 – The Final Words of Jacob (part 2) appeared first on Island Pond Baptist Church.

Openers: Mark: Space Empires 4X Jonathan: 2005 Flashback & Quiz Closers: Jonathan: My top games of 2005 Mark: Hosting my own (small) event instead of traveling to a con? Mark Johnson @MarkEJohnson Jonathan Takagi @jtakagi The Wayback Machine is back. One more time, a friend joins me to go back in time to an earlier Spiel des Jahres, looking at the winner but also the other nominees and recommended games. In addition, my guest helps me think about the earlier time itself, and how the games, the hobby, and the community may have changed over the years. This time it's my longtime friend & listener from San Diego, Jonathan Takagi. In fact, he's from a bit north, in Escondido, and Jonathan is another one of the people behind my favorite regional con, EsCon. I'll be going back there in a month! Jonathan decided to pick 2005 because it's twenty years ago...which also happens to be when I started the podcast. Niagara was the game that won the SdJ (one of my earliest disappointments with the jury's selection!), and I replayed it just recently to re-examine my opinion about the game. In fact, it can be played online at BGA, which seems odd for a game that relies on its physicality and "toy factor" as much as it does. Still, the actual strategy in the game remains intact in the format, since the unpredictability of the fork in the river may not be so unpredictable after all. What do you think of Niagara? We don't just talk about the winner, though. Back in those days, the SdJ jury announced four other "nominated" games that could've won the award, and several more "recommended" games. For me, I think the game I'd want as the winner resides in the nominated list, while Jonathan singles out some standouts from the recommended list. Other titles nominated for the SdJ: Verflixxt! (That's Life), Around the World in 80 Days, Jambo, and Himalaya (Lords of Xidit) Other titles recommended by the SdJ jury: Boomtown, Tanz der Hornochsen (Dance of Ibexes), The Gardens of the Alhambra, Diamant (Incan Gold), Geschenkt! (No Thanks), Piranha Pedro, Typo, and Wie ich die Welt sehe… We also talk about two other major German game awards, the Deutscher Spielpreis, and the A La Carte. They are both ranked list. The former is (sort of) for heavier, gamer-games, while the latter is for card games (or “board”games done with cards). The timing of these awards is slightly off from the SdJ, so depending on publication dates a game might show up in one year's list for one award, and the following year for another award. But they're all close, and with some notable overlap for widely-respected games. DSP 1. Louis XIV 2. Niagara 3. Manila 4. Ubongo 5. Himalaya 6. Around the World in 80 Days 7. Shadows Over Camelot 8. Jambo 9. The Scepter of Zavandor 10. Verflixxt! A La Carte 1. Jambo 2. Geschenkt! 3. Wie ich die Welt sehe… 4. Diamant 5. Boomtown 6. Razzia! 7. Team Work 8. Gelb Gewinnt! Near the end of the episode, Jonathan considers what we can now observe in the hobby when we look back on 2005. Was it the start of a transition from “German Games” to the broader notion of “Euros”? Of course we had some French, Italian, British, and even American titles back then, but they're hobby still showed its tremendous roots in German culture and its game publishing. At some point, that changed. Was this around the start of that change? -Mark

Jesus isn't returning like last time—this is the Lion, not the Lamb. He's handing the rod of iron to overcomers who are aligned with heaven's government. The question is: will you rule with Him—or get shaken with everything that's about to fall?
As we enter into Holy Week, this is an excerpt from the chapter entitled Good Friday from the Scepter title: The Sacred Passion by Luis De La Palma.
What would you do if you were God and saw your Covenant Nation of America losing its God given freedom? Looking down from heaven and seeing the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness being taken from its people by evil powers and principalities of evil? What would you do to restore law and order? What would you do to re-establish righteousness? Putting people with a right heart in the right place, at the right time, with hearts and skills to do what is right. The first place to start would have to be the Word of God. Everything is established on truth. There is no other place to find truth than the Scripture. Come listen to Professor Dean Sharp, a proponent of America's Christian History, describe what the Lord has revealed to him in his two books: "Where did my Country Go?" and "Taking my Country Back". Scripture tells us in Hebrews: "The Scepter of Righteousness is the Scepter of the Kingdom". God our Father is restoring righteousness in our land as a precursor to the greatest revival the world has ever seen. To do so, I believe He is bringing back fathers to the seven mountains of influence. The return of the fathers will put the right people with hearts after God in place.See previous podcasts on "The Return of the Fathers" and "Anson County, Ground Zero for the Worldwide Revival". Come and listen and enjoy hearing what God is doing in America. Blessings:Papa Tom

The Prophetic Significance of Purim in 2025: A Call to Courage and Awakening • Friday Service Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give As we approach Purim in 2025, we must recognize that this is not just an ancient Jewish holiday—it is a prophetic message for this very hour. The story of Esther, Mordecai, and Haman is more than history; it is a blueprint for the spiritual battle we face today. The enemy has set traps, decrees, and wicked schemes against God's people, but Purim reminds us that divine reversals, supernatural intervention, and bold faith will lead us to victory. God is calling His remnant to rise up like Esther and Mordecai, to recognize the times, and to stand against the Haman spirit that seeks to destroy faith, truth, and righteousness in our day. Purim is a call to courage, fasting, discernment, and action. Let's dive into the Word and uncover why this moment in 2025 is critical for believers to understand and walk in the spirit of Purim. 1. Recognizing the Times: The Battle of Light and Darkness Esther 3:8-9 (NKJV) “Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, ‘There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from all other people's, and they do not keep the king's laws. Therefore it is not fitting for the king to let them remain. If it pleases the king, let a decree be written that they be destroyed…'” 2. The Call to Boldness: You Were Born for Such a Time as This Esther 4:14 (NKJV) “For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” 3. Fasting and Prayer Release Breakthrough Esther 4:16 (NKJV) “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” 4. Divine Reversals: What the Enemy Meant for Evil, God Turns for Good Esther 9:1 (NKJV) “On the day that the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, the opposite occurred, in that the Jews themselves overpowered those who hated them.” 5. The Scepter of Favor: Authority in the Courts of Heaven Esther 5:2 (NKJV) “So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter.” 6. The Haman Spirit Will Hang on Its Own Gallows Esther 7:10 (NKJV) “So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king's wrath subsided.” 7. The Call to Celebrate and Remember Esther 9:28 (NKJV) “That these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city, that these days of Purim should not fail to be observed among the Jews, and that the memory of them should not perish among their descendants.” 8. No Weapon Formed Against Us Will Prosper Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.” 9. Be Strong and Courageous Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” 10. The Lord Will Fight for You Exodus 14:14 (NKJV) “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” This Is Our Purim Moment Purim in 2025 is a prophetic call to: • Wake up and recognize the times. • Fast, pray, and seek divine strategy. • Stand in courage and take action. • Believe in the power of divine reversals. • Walk in authority and favor.
Numbers 24 marks a pivotal moment in the story of Balaam, the enigmatic prophet hired by Balak, the king of Moab, to curse Israel. Despite Balak's persistent attempts, Balaam, under divine influence, speaks only blessings over Israel. This chapter concludes Balaam's series of oracles, affirming God's sovereign control over His people's destiny and foreshadowing Israel's future triumph. As Balaam looks out over the vast encampment of Israel, he falls into a prophetic trance. Unlike his earlier visions, which required sacrificial rituals, this time the Spirit of God takes over him spontaneously. His eyes are opened, and he delivers a powerful message about Israel's divine favor and future dominance. Themes and Symbolism in Numbers 24 One of the dominant themes in this chapter is God's sovereignty over human intentions. Balak's repeated efforts to manipulate Balaam into cursing Israel fail because God's plans cannot be overridden by human desires. The contrast between Balak's frustration and God's unwavering purpose highlights the futility of opposing divine will. Another theme is the power of divine revelation. Balaam's vision transcends his personal will; he is no longer an independent seer but a vessel for God's message. His words paint a picture of Israel's blessed and flourishing future, comparing them to lush gardens and towering trees planted by the Lord. Balaam's prophecy also introduces the concept of a future ruler, which is later seen as a messianic foreshadowing. In Numbers 24 verse 17, Balaam declares. “I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth.” This prophecy speaks of a coming leader who will bring victory to Israel. The star represents divine guidance and kingship, while the scepter symbolizes royal authority. Many biblical scholars and Christian theologians view this as an early reference to the coming Messiah, later associated with Jesus Christ. Symbolic Imagery in Balaam's Prophecy Balaam's vision is rich in powerful metaphors: • A Star Rising from Jacob – Symbolizing a future king or divine ruler, bringing victory and guidance to Israel. • A Scepter from Israel – Representing strength, sovereignty, and the authority to subdue Israel's enemies. • A Majestic Lion – Depicting Judah's power and the nation's eventual dominion over its adversaries. • Flourishing Gardens and Mighty Trees – Illustrating Israel's prosperity and divine favor. • Crushed Enemies – Signifying God's judgment on nations that oppose His chosen people. These images reinforce the prophecy's message: Israel is blessed, chosen, and destined for greatness, despite opposition. Balaam's Fate and the Aftermath Although Balaam speaks divine blessings over Israel, his story does not end on a righteous path. Later in the Book of Numbers, he is revealed to have played a role in leading Israel into sin through the seduction of Moabite women (Numbers 31:16). He ultimately meets his death when Israel conquers Midian. This serves as a cautionary tale: despite being used as a mouthpiece for God, Balaam's heart remained divided, and he succumbed to greed and manipulation. Conclusion Numbers 24 highlights God's ability to turn human schemes into opportunities for His glory. Balak's desire to curse Israel results in an overwhelming pronouncement of blessing, reaffirming that no earthly power can undo God's promises. Balaam's vision of a future ruler sets the stage for later biblical prophecies concerning the Messiah, reinforcing the theme of divine kingship. This chapter serves as a reminder that God's plans are unshakable, and His chosen people will always be under His protection. It also warns against spiritual compromise, as seen in Balaam's downfall. Ultimately, the story of Balaam is not just about prophecy, but about the greater truth that God's will prevails, regardless of human intent.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.
