In this live author reading, we hear two amazing women reading selections from their books-in-process on the themes of relationships and intimacy. Mary Campbell, intimacy coach and ordained spiritual mentor and co-author of "Be the Beacon" reads from her chapter entitled "Coming Alive Again" from her upcoming book "The Pleasure Playbook." Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. This is a podcast where we talk to guests about their favorite albums. Today we're talking with my friend Gibran Colbert of the band The Give & Take and also of Expert Timing. We talked about As Cities Burn's debut album "Son I Loved You at Your Darkest" and about how Evangelicalism and Capitalism make strange and harmful bedfellows. The Give & Take released their EP, "Great Pause," in 2021 and Gibran is working on a follow-up to hopefully be released this year! Also, Expert Timing released a really amazing album, "Stargazing," recently on Count Your Lucky Stars. When the pandemic began, many law firms prepared for the worst by furloughing or laying off lawyers and legal professionals. Many of these same firms then found themselves at a disadvantage when the hiring spree began in the fourth quarter of 2020. Leopard Solution's Phil Flora joins us this week to talk about the numbers that they tracked over this time on hiring and movement in the legal industry. Pre-pandemic, there were 6,000 - 7,000 open jobs at any given moment. Currently, that number is 12,000+. And it doesn't appear to be slowing down. Phil Flora discusses a number of issues around how law firms and others are managing, recruiting, and retaining talent in such an active market. Of course, money is the traditional approach for law firms, and that is no exception this time around. However, Flora points out that there are a lot of "greats" going on in the market, including the "Great Pause", the "Great Resurgence", and the "Great Reflection" to name a few. And while money will be one piece of the solution, legal talent is wanting many more adjustments in order to keep them content and in place. This includes more work flexibility, mentoring, and even more social awareness by the law firms when it comes to how they align with societal goals. Crystal Ball Question We asked Norton Rose Fulbright's Zack Barnes to look into his crystal ball and predict what he sees for the legal industry. Barnes' future expands upon the ability for the legal market to expand upon the sandboxes created by Utah and Arizona to allow for ownership of law firms beyond the licensed attorney ranks. For true business innovation, there needs to be diversity in the ownership ranks. This is the last podcast in Season 2 Fam and what a wake-up call it is! As much as we don't want to bring up the sh*t show that was 2020 again, it did show us a lot… and if we were lucky enough to come out of it on another side, we have a second shot at living the life we really want to live.So the last episode in this season is dedicated with as much gusto and positivity to show us how to make the absolute most of everything coming out of ‘the great pause'. Not forgetting that as we go to press play - we are fully in control of how we dial up all the positive things we want to continue, start all the new things we've put off (and most importantly!) stop the same old things in our lives that we REALLY don't really wanna do anymore!Leaving this season with a positive mission for us all to live by just makes us feel so great. See ya on the other side of the pause button Fam.

On this episode, our guest is Daniel Pardo, an organizer of various neighbourhood organizations in Barcelona, including ABDT (the Assembly of Neighborhoods for Tourism Degrowth). I caught up with Daniel and friend Ana Elia to speak about Barcelona, what has become of it as a result of overtourism and the local struggles against touristification there. We discuss what the COVID-19 pandemic did to Barcelona and what, if anything, we can learn from the Great Pause. Daniel moved to Barcelona 15 years ago and has since become a passionate activist, investigating and fighting against the exploitation of his city and its people. He is also currently the coordinator of the project Biblioteca de Objetos ("Library of Objects"). We are also joined by Ana Elia, a friend and native of Barcelona who completed her doctorate on gendered social networks in community-based ecotourism projects in Ghana. She is the co-director of CEHDA (cehdaghana.org/en), a migrant and environmental justice organization founded by Ghanaian migrants to support rural resilience in Africa as well as to support migrant people in Catalonia. This episode is entitled "Neighbourhood Resistance and Resilience in Barcelona." *******During the recording of this episode there was an issue with the microphone, and so it is somewhat difficult to hear Daniel. When I first met Roger Martin (roger@themindsetdifference.com), I realized he was someone who spoke with marked purpose—what he was about to say would be focused, clear, and memorable. I found myself hoping he would be the next person to speak in our group. Roger, who is Co-Founder of The Mindset Difference, working with Sarah Matthew, Founder of The Vibrant Company and Barry Holmes, Founder of Zoom Creates, is working on a new book: If Not This, Then What? He will be contributing to Humanity at Work as well. More on that in the next podcast. 2022 will see both projects available. In this episode, Roger and I take a wonderful hike together through the pandemic, organizational culture, quitting smoking, neuroscience and human capacity. You will find his voice and his insight a pleasure and a treasure as we explore what he calls The Great Pause.

God doesn't want us to forget. He is a God of love and second chances. We will turn away from him again and again. We will blame him again and again. But He is there; an ever loving being of hope and perseverance. A good example of this is what we just experienced in 2020 called The Great Pause. Most of us call it a Pandemic or Covid or when the world went bat shit crazy!! But if you look at the other perspective there was an incredible PAUSE that happened. Where rivers and oceans could heal. Where the man-made smog didn't fill the sky and cars were not out polluting the ozone for months on end. In a time when the air was probably the cleanest it's been in a century, we were forced to wear masks and isolate ourselves. BUT all the while, God was working in ways we cannot even imagine. Even in the devastation, God was there. He is always the silver lining. He is always the hope. What if this is a second chance? A deutero - a do over. We were saying YES too often, and No not enough. We were building, spinning, creating more more more more, and we lost the point of it all. Love. Acceptance. Taking care of this ONE planet we all get to share?! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/alimarielong/support

This is dedicated to those at Field Trip Health. Per their website, they use "psychedelic therapies that bring you to life [through] evidence-based, legal psychedelic therapies to help you heal depression and feel better." Ronan Levy, the host of their podcast Field Tripping, asks a great question about what this pandemic has taught the guests. Since it's given us 'more time' and expressed differing branches of uncertainty, Ronan wonders how The Great Pause allowed us to grow, gather insights, realizations, or reflections, and in what respects. This is my much shorter answer to that question. It was born a few days after I tried to record another short response that ended up being half an hour - which is also out there. I hope you enjoy it! In this, I discuss the importance of personal and self-development and how I was able to continue looking inwards for answers rather than outside myself. Catalysts along this internal journey were, and still are, Yoga, Reading, Writing, and Meditation, among others not expressed. The second big takeaway, for me, is how we all must learn to live alone at some point in our lives and why. On their podcast, Field Tripping: "Turn on and tune into Field Tripping, a podcast about psychedelics, the people that use them, and what our renewed love affair with both says about who we are and where we're going. Explore how psychedelics awaken new views on sex, science, business, fitness, life, and death in the lives of our influential and inspiring guests. Join us on a journey into psychedelic experiences and how they change the world and our lives – one trip at a time. The podcast sometimes deals with some challenging or sensitive topics, so we ask that you please be thoughtful and use good judgment when considering some of the subjects discussed." If any of this has sparked some curiosity, start with episode #5 or episode #10 of the Field Tripping podcast. So it's starting to happen. The world is opening back up, almost all the way, from our global pandemic and lockdown. The Great Gaslighting has begun. If you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say that, you can check out Episode #16 of the podcast from last April. March 12, 2020, was one way, and March 13, 2020, was a whole new way. And that “new” way hung around for almost a year. It was real. It happened. And now you get to decide what you want to keep, what you want to let go of and you get to actually reflect on what you learned during this time. In this episode I'll cover 3 things you can reflect on as we close out the “Great Pause”: 1: What do you want to keep from this time? 2: What do you want to let go of? 3: What have you learned? I know you know this, but I'm going to remind you anyway. This was extraordinary. It's magical and scary and peaceful and violent. You will never have another 12 months like the 12 months we just lived through. What will you do with that? How will you allow that to change who you are? How do you want to shape your life going forward, now that you know what you know? Because, my beautiful Girlfriend, the Game is STILL on. Learn more at: https://sarahwalton.com/world-opens
A year of lockdowns and halted plans has given us an unusual opportunity to explore patience and what we gain when we embrace it. How has this great pause benefited you? What have you lost or sacrificed? Patience might not feel normal or natural, but there are times when it happens to us. Times like that teach us a lot about ourselves and what we value.Episode Highlights00:22 We are told patience is a virtue and we should have more of it, but most of us struggle with this.00:30 Being patient doesn't come easily all of the time. But are there moments when being patient DOES feel natural?02:09 Time felt like it slowed down in those moments in nature. The experience itself was made of patience.02:25 Modern life doesn't offer a lot of opportunities for patience and seems to actively push us to do more faster and to be satisfied as quickly as possible.03:03 When we cram all our transformation and ideas into one small moment as fast as possible it feels bad and then we give up and are left wanting more.03:12 Actual transformation does take place in one instant, but our challenge is to be present in that moment for it.03:30 My tattoo apprenticeship mentor Adam taught me that our instinct is always to rush filling in what we know how to fill in – but we do a better job and finish faster when we slow down.05:11 When I'm able to become present in the moment I am in, time falls away and my senses take over.05:30 Impatience is our desire to have already done everything already without even knowing why we want it.05:50 This causes suffering and makes us miss out on our moments without even being aware we are missing them.06:19 The slowdown of the pandemic ended up providing a big sigh of relief for lots of people that we could finally slow down without fearing being judged for it.07:17 Having so much space and time made us focus on what we chose to surround ourselves with and if we liked what we had built in our lives so far.07:30 Suddenly it was in our face, and we had nowhere to go.08:15 Even with the difficulties the year has brought, having time to experience it has felt somehow better than rushing the way we used to.08:56 It has been this rare moment where the world is not demanding that we have to do more than what we already are.09:52 In order to be present like this, there was a lot we sacrificed10:40 We have a simultaneous experience of terror combined with hope and appreciation right now.11:17 We have an opportunity when working on our own to set things up in a way that is supportive to us or not.12:04 Positive change really starts with how we approach ourselves and how compassionate we can be to ourselves as we feel everything that comes up.12:12 What if we could look at our life and compassionately say, my life is taking the time it takes, and that's OK.12:25 It might take a while to understand what right is for me, but patience is the ingredient that allows me to discover that.12:55 We might not think of patience as natural to exert, but it happens to us in the pauses.13:17 How can we be fully present and there for ourselves right now, for all we want to create, have, and be? Hello, and welcome to A Work in Purpose. This is our podcast for igniting and reaching our purpose - together. My name is Wing. Like many of you, I am just an ordinary seeker. During the Great Pause of 2020 when all of the external distractions suddenly disappeared, I, like so many of us, had a lot of time to reflect and discover inward. I eventually wondered and got stuck on one of life's most perplexing questions, “what is my life's purpose?” And I know I am not the only one. That is why I am inviting you to join me on this journey. Let's discover, ignite and reach our purpose — together. On most weeks, I'll be sharing a podcast episode of me interviewing people from all walks of life who are working towards some kind of purpose, whether it is with their career, volunteering, creativity, spiritual practices or just how they approach every day life. Along the way, I'll also be sharing some insights and practical tips I learn on how to discover and reach our purpose. I hope they will inspire you so we all can become a work in purpose. And if you want to be a part of a supportive community of other seekers to help you reach your purpose, I invite you to join our Facebook group! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aworkinpurpose/support

About Grimm ☀☀☀ Portland detective, Nick Burkhardt, has seen some gruesome crime scenes, but nothing prepares him for the strange visions he begins seeing: seemingly regular people momentarily transforming into hideous monsters. A visit from his only living relative reveals the truth. Nick has inherited the ability to see supernatural creatures, and as a "Grimm," he is tasked with keeping the balance between mankind and the mythological. A reformed "Big Bad Wolf" becomes his greatest (and also reluctant) ally and confidant. It's not long before his work as a policeman leads Nick to the criminals he once thought were only found in fairy tales.
