Remember Ethan, the gay prep school kid Jack met on the train back from Boston? He's returned home again for Capefest, an ill-defined free music festival that seems to be mainly about camping on the beach. Though Jack is apparently not a fan of popular music, he is easily convinced to come hang out, making Jen come as backup. Also attending? Henry, a veggie burger-grilling, Bruce Springsteen-covering renaissance man who has absolutely no interest in Jen and her inconsistent attempts at platonic friendship. Nikki has embedded herself in the Capeside High film department, getting the extremely offscreen Mr. Jordan to break all the rules of equipment loans so she can use it to work on her latest project. When Dawson decides to take his righteous indignation to her house, it backfires into an invitation for dinner from the adorably proud Principal Green, and exposure to her bedroom and values causes Dawson to experience a crisis of...well, interior design. Andie has decided to volunteer as Assistant Director on the school production of Barefoot In The Park, partly as a distraction from her feelings about her breakup with Pacey, but her plans go to hell when she finds out the English teacher directing the play has recruited Pacey specially to be his male lead. Mitch is, as we learned in the premiere, Capeside High's football coach, and both he and Principal Green are very focused on turning around the team's years-long losing streak. (This contradicts what we were told about now long-gone football star Cliff, but never mind; he's in a better place.) Mitch and the principal thus enlist Dawson to create a promotional film for the team, and somehow he finds the time around condom shopping, because Eve is still around -- now as a Capeside senior -- and still very openly coming on to Dawson whenever she sees him. It's too bad Dawson can't use footage of the current team, because freshman quarterback Henry Parker (Michael Pitt) is actually good, and by chance finds the wide receiver of his dreams in Jack, whom Mitch soon drafts to join the team; this should provide a nice break for Jack from worrying about why his dad, who has moved his business to Capeside so that Andie can resume her studies there, doesn't want Jack to join them. Speaking of Andie: she's inconveniently released from her residential treatment center days in to the school year. Pacey is overwhelmed with excitement about getting to pick her up -- after having apparently only written emails and letters the whole time she was gone -- but when he gets there, he finds her with a boy, and then seems to be avoiding Pacey whenever he tries to get some time alone with her. As Pacey wraps up his week's suspension, Capeside High is still abuzz with speculation about Jack's sexuality -- including from a very offscreen Mr. Milo, who's given up on getting Mrs. McPhee in to the school to discuss the situation (thanks to Andie running interference) and calls their dad to make his first-ever on-camera visit to town. Mr. McPhee endures Andie's nonstop chatter over dinner, then turns his attention to Jack to make sure he knows that if he were gay, he would take it as a personal insult. Elsewhere, Joey is, seemingly, under near-constant torment as to whether the rumors about Jack could be true, and getting moderately bad advice about it from, who else, Dawson. Ty also decides to weigh in, telling Jen he doesn't know why Joey would waste her time with a "fruit fly" (no) like Jack. The answer to what you should spend your time on today is: our episode on "...That Is The Question"! NOTES

Again With This: Beverly Hills, 90210 & Melrose Place

As we saw at the end of the last episode, Tamara somehow has the nerve to show her face back in Capeside AFTER EVERYTHING. Officially it's to sell her house and also a warehouse (???), the latter possibly to Mitch for his fake restaurant, which is why Dawson is the first credits-cast Capeside High student to see her. He does TRY to warn Pacey, but not hard enough, since as we keep saying, he's a bad friend. And while Andie does pick up on a vibe when she witnesses Pacey running into Tamara totally unprepared (bad friend, is what he has), she's too worried about sorting out how Pacey feels about Andie herself to interrogate why he's so thrown by a chance reunion with an old teacher. Laura continues her mentorship of Joey through an art lecture and then a drawing class, strongly encouraging Joey to consider pursuing art study more seriously. Dawson seems to think this possible new "hobby" is absolutely adorable, then can't figure out why Joey is insulted by his tone. Undeterred by Dawson treating her like a precocious child, she decides to check out an art exhibition on her own, and when Bessie convinces her to take Jack, she accidentally stumbles into having a lot in common with a boy friend who's not her boyfriend. Abby and Jen have a chance meeting with a hot fisherman named Vincent, but no amount of reminding each other and the viewer that he is much much much MUCH too old for them can stop this storyline, apparently. Four separate disciplinary incidents have, it seems, landed our four teen protagonists in all-day detention in the Capeside High library...but it wouldn't be a full Breakfast Club homage without a fifth, which is why we're meeting chaos agent Abby Morgan (Monica Keena)! What crimes did they each commit? What terrifying admissions and world-changing challenges occur in the course of Abby's game of Truth or Dare? What's Mrs. Tringle's favorite soap opera? And how much better is this first episode from future White Lotus creator Mike White than what has come before? You don't have to block out a full eight hours to enjoy our podcast on "Detention"! Creek Talk Podcast-A Dawson's Creek Recap Show

Welcome Back Creekers! It's our 9th episode!  We're back discussing episode 9 of Dawson's Creek titled, "Road Trip."Join us as we breakdown this very TOXIC episode! There's toxic ex-boyfriends. Toxic Masculinity. Toxic Ice Cream! Toxic Makeup Departments! It's all TOXIC this week!Billy (Eion Bailey) is back in Capeside-- did he ever really leave?--to get Jen back. Again. Fortunately, she's no longer too "weak and vulnerable" to be manipulated by a piece of trash like Billy.  Instead, Billy decides to try to get inside Jen's head by taking Dawson (James Van Der Beek) on a road trip to Providence so Dawson can FINALLY feel the touch of a REAL woman. At least that's what he tells the girls.  Pacey (Joshua Jackson) decides to tag along. Well, because he really doesn't have a storyline this week. Meanwhile, at Capeside High, Joey (Katie Holmes) is having her own man troubles with this week's Guest Star, Warren Gary (Eric Balfour). When Joey pretty much turns down this sorta, kinda, hunk by telling him she'd never sleep with him even if it would mean the end of world hunger, he goes all toxic male on her and tells the whole school they slept together! Joey would never!  Jen (Michelle Williams) decides to ban together with Joey to get back at this creep for trying to ruin Joey's stellar reputation! GIRL POWER! The episode ends with a tub of Breyer's Cookie Dough "ice cream" surrounded by 100 lit candles in a tiny room filled with wicker furniture. DISGUSTING!We also discuss the "other" Guest Star of the week, Nina (Melissa McBride) and how the makeup department wasn't doing her ANY favors in this episode. The legal drinking ages across the United States. And finally, when  did Wawa stop selling deli meats?? It's a real struggle. Creek Talk Podcast-A Dawson's Creek Recap Show

Hey Creekers!  It's our 7th episode! We're back discussing episode 7 of Dawson's Creek titled, "Detention."  Join us this week as we breakdown this homage of the 80's comedy, The Breakfast Club.  Our Core Four are all stuck in Saturday detention.  Dawson (James Van Der Beek) threw a basketball at Pacey's face because the words "Oompa Loompa" drove him to it. Jen (Michelle Williams) literally said the word "bitch" during a class discussion. Joey (Katie Holmes) beat up the school "stud" for sexually harassing her--yet he got off Scott free!  And Pacey (Joshua Jackson) got caught with his pants down in the boys locker room. We also meet Abby Jacobs (Monica Keena). The girl everyone loves to hate at Capeside High. She stirs up some drama between our crew with a little game of Truth or Dare.  Did she REALLY get detention for having an ecstasy fueled orgy during school hours in the boys locker room? We're pretty sure that would be cause for expulsion.  We're not buying it, Abby! We also discuss rage blackouts, why being a hoarder can pay off in the long run, and if Oompa Loompa's originated from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or the Wizard of Oz. We're really not sure...So grab the nearest basketball and break your best friends beak with it because you've just got yourself  ALL DAY SATURDAY DETENTION! The rate of our recording seems to be keeping in stride with the pulse of certain matriculants of Capeside High. An unexpected guest star muddies the waters for several of our key players, while others embrace the inevitable. Gale & Manmeat reach a point of resolution as Dawson & Joey come to terms with the scope of their relationship. Jenn & Abby are in conflict once again, though each seems to settle in a position deemed functional. Jack, well... damn. Pacey & Andi are put to the test, and at least according to the show all is hunky dory... After this episode it seems there's a lot more coming-home to do than could be established with the annual dance, but there's pointedly one less method of ingress available...
