The summer tourist season is kicking off in Capeside with a regatta. This might have been a low-key race for new sailor Pacey and the True Love, the little boat that could, if it were happening a couple of weeks earlier. Unfortunately, we're in the post-discovery era, so Dawson has to Dawson all over it. Leery's Fresh Fish is sponsoring the True Love? Fine: Dawson will just enter Joseph McPhee's boat, the Carpe Diem; THEN ask the McPhee siblings if he may use it; THEN pay the sponsorship fee himself but sail on behalf of the Potter B&B. When will he have time to learn the rules of sailing? Great question: he won't, and that's going to be a problem. In the far background, Jen has been giving Henry the silent treatment ever since he tried to fool around with her when Grams wasn't home, so he's been holding a silent vigil everywhere she goes, holding up a sign asking her to forgive him. No one is sufficiently annoyed by this behavior, least of all Jen. Show US love by listening to our episode on "Show Me Love"! JOIN THE AWT CLUB
Production Note: This version fixed issues with Sarah's audio. It seems as though, once Joey broke the seal in the last episode and initiated a kiss with Pacey, they basically have not stopped kissing since. And that's a problem, because the longer they wait, the worse it's going to be when Dawson finds out. The plan is for Pacey to tell him. But then Joey stops him and says SHE should be the one to tell him. But then Dawson interrupts and it kind of seems like NO ONE has to tell him...but how could that be? It turns out that this day was unusually eventful, so we see the events from Pacey's, then Joey's, and then Dawson's perspectives, as Capeside's biggest secret is finally told. This may not be our shortest episode, because it's about "The Longest Day"! JOIN THE AWT CLUB

It's spring break, but of course Capeside's biggest nerds aren't going to Fort Lauderdale: they're heading to Vermont for what is apparently their traditional visit with Dawson's Aunt Gwen (Julie Bowen!). Pacey wasn't going to come, but the kids' old and previously never-mentioned friend Will Krudski (Rodney Scott) made a surprise visit to pull a Jake Hanson-- er, tell us all his deal as a working-class ne'er-do-well with daddy issues and a heart of gold and then leave for his own show (spoiler?), and since there's nothing to do in Capeside, they're going to an even smaller and duller town. Also joining is Andie, because someone has to have a crush on Will to make us think he's a viable leading man. Will Dawson stop thinking about his own reinvention long enough to notice all the eye-fucking Pacey and Joey are doing? Apparently not before their first night at Gwen's, because the sleeping arrangements end up putting Joey and Pacey in the one bed together for It Happened One Night high jinks. Back in Capeside, Fresh Fish server Shelley (Sarah Lancaster) has the hots for new busboy Henry, and Jen's not just telling her they're dating because otherwise they wouldn't have a plotline; and the surprise death of a longtime friend has Gale and Mitch reflecting on what they've lost...and could possibly regain? Joey and Bessie's new bed & breakfast has finally opened, but since they spent every cent on the construction and left nothing for promotion, they don't actually have any guests. (They can't even ask their old friend Gale to do a puff piece on the opening, since she's been crapping out at every network she's applied to for a new job in journalism.) Pacey takes it upon himself to track down Fred Fricke, the biggest tastemaker in B&Bs, to come review the place for the New York Times travel section -- which would be a good idea maybe a month in when Bessie and Joey have worked out some of the kinks, but maybe not right now when there's still a room under construction and there aren't any guests. Pacey then tries to fix the fix by asking all their loved ones to come fill up the place for Fricke's benefit, and since Mitch brings Gale, that sends Dawson into a tailspin. Sharing accommodations isn't something Jack and Andie have done lately, as she keeps reminding him -- on, he assumes, their father's orders. But is Joseph even the one who's anxious for Jack to move back home? Henry isn't part of the staycation crew, but he has just arranged a dinner for two at Jen's favorite Capeside restaurant, so he's very much on her mind. It was just one episode ago when Dawson thought he'd discovered a link between Eve and Jen, but that's not the titular secret -- it's about Gale and therefore much more boring. Jen wouldn't have time to deal with the bombshell of a possible half-sister anyway: as Capeside's latest Homecoming Queen, she has the responsibility of...planning a gala for fifty years' worth of past Queens? When Jen visits apparently the oldest Queen, Miss Constance Freckling (K Callan!) to try to weasel out of it, she has a bee-facilitated interlude with Henry, aka Miss Freckling's handyboy "Hank." Pacey is keeping busy enlisting members of the police auxiliary to help turn the Potter cottage into a B&B, but drops everything when Andie calls Joey crying that Rob committed sexual misconduct against her, but then won't agree to report him to the authorities. Joey's like, "Hmmmmmmmm." We're like, "Uuuuuuuugh." It's no secret OR lie that we've brought you a new episode -- listen now! JOIN THE AWT CLUB
Mitch is, as we learned in the premiere, Capeside High's football coach, and both he and Principal Green are very focused on turning around the team's years-long losing streak. (This contradicts what we were told about now long-gone football star Cliff, but never mind; he's in a better place.) Mitch and the principal thus enlist Dawson to create a promotional film for the team, and somehow he finds the time around condom shopping, because Eve is still around -- now as a Capeside senior -- and still very openly coming on to Dawson whenever she sees him. It's too bad Dawson can't use footage of the current team, because freshman quarterback Henry Parker (Michael Pitt) is actually good, and by chance finds the wide receiver of his dreams in Jack, whom Mitch soon drafts to join the team; this should provide a nice break for Jack from worrying about why his dad, who has moved his business to Capeside so that Andie can resume her studies there, doesn't want Jack to join them. Speaking of Andie: she's inconveniently released from her residential treatment center days in to the school year. Pacey is overwhelmed with excitement about getting to pick her up -- after having apparently only written emails and letters the whole time she was gone -- but when he gets there, he finds her with a boy, and then seems to be avoiding Pacey whenever he tries to get some time alone with her. Capeside's discriminatory Prom policy forces Dawson & co. to take action and throw an alternative Prom - and there's plenty of drama to spare! Dawson has a secret and REALLY wishes he didn't. Hoping to avoid telling Joey about her dad's return to drug dealing, he takes Gale's advice and goes straight to Mike, telling him what he knows in the hopes that Mike will...knock it off? Or something? Instead, The Icehouse gets firebombed while all the cocaine -- oh, and also all the kids we know -- are inside. The situation does bring Pacey's dad, Sheriff Witter, back onto the scene to be an even bigger jerk than he was the last time we saw him, which is saying something. The Leerys -- other than their poor boundaries with regard to adult/child friendship -- remain the best in parent class, Gale's decision to leave Capeside for the job in Philadelphia also causes some minor turmoil. Fortunately, we'll always have Grams to model chosen family goals. Warning: parental discretion IS advised for our episode on...well, you know. JOIN THE AWT CLUB
Jack having resolved, at the end of the last episode, to call his dad for help with Andie since he couldn't put it off a single second longer, Joseph arrives with a distinctly unhelpful announcement: he's selling the house and bringing the kids back to Providence so that both Andie AND her extremely offscreen mother can get full-time medical care. This is, of course, bad news: Andie doesn't want to say goodbye to the best boyfriend any teenaged girl ever had, and Jack doesn't want to resume living with a parent who definitely hasn't accepted Jack's coming out (and barely accepted him before that anyway). The McPhees' possible relocation has Jen wondering if it's time for her to leave Capeside too, but a call home to HER extremely offscreen mother lets her know that at least one move she took for granted as an option may no longer be available. After his stressful dinner with Miss Kennedy in the last episode, Dawson is stressed out about his final film assignment, but his idea of interviewing the people around him to describe their "character arcs" over the past year results in him learning more about Joey's dad than he wanted to. It's time to pack your saxophone! The Watchers are hitting the road with Will Ferrell and his longtime friend, writer Harper Steele, for their documentary Will & Harper. The film follows the two friends as they embark on a friendship-defining road trip. Jodie and Andrea discuss the emotional journey of Harper's transition, Will's growing understanding of allyship, and the evolution of their friendship. We also explore how Will & Harper adds to the long tradition of American road trip narratives, its take on big themes like change and connection, and the film's potential entry point for broader discussions of trans experiences.Next week, we're taking a little detour back to Capeside. However Joey and Dawson might classify whatever they're currently doing relationship-wise, they've been doing it for a month, so Dawson is taking her out for dinner at Capeside's fanciest French restaurant, Entre Nous. Except oh no, when Dawson made his reservation two weeks ago, the maître d' didn't realize there were TWO Leery parties of two, and he's already seated the only one he thought he had that night, which is how Joey and Dawson end up celebrating their month-iversary with Mitch and Miss Kennedy. (No offense to the maître d' but it's probably crap like this that has you working a fine dining establishment in a dying Massachusetts fishing town.) Jen is now crashing at the Leery house, and Gale seems to appreciate having an inappropriately young gal pal to talk to about all her problems. But when she burns the pot roast she'd been making for their girls' night, they decide to dress up and hit the town and you will NEVER GUESS where they ALSO end up!!! Meanwhile, Andie hasn't seen any Abby apparitions since the day of her funeral a month ago, but a mysterious and intense young man has been hanging around, reminding her that no one can find out about what they have. Who is he? Are Andie and Pacey going to be okay? Is an actual adult going to notice that all the literal children in this episode NEED HELP and intervene?! Order yourself some French onion soup and enjoy our episode on "Reunited"! JOIN THE AWT CLUB
As the news of Abby's passing spreads through Capeside, everyone gets a chance to make it about them. Girls at school who were definitely not Abby's friends distribute yellow armbands in her memory. Jen displaces her guilt onto Andie, then starts drinking. Andie -- worried that Jen might be right when she says Abby would still be alive if Andie hadn't kicked her and Jen out of the wedding -- doesn't correct Mrs. Morgan about her supposed friendship with Abby, AND agrees to deliver a eulogy at her funeral. Jack realizes he may have been the last person to kiss Abby before her death. Joey tries to keep a lid on her feelings so old grief about her mother's death three years earlier doesn't boil over. And Dawson takes the opportunity to rewatch all the footage he shot of Abby for Creek Daze -- which he might as well, if only to take his mind off the possibility that Gale is going to take a fancy network job in Philadelphia and leave him behind. The Capeside we heard way back at the end of Season 1 was wrapping up its tourist season is, months later, having a fishing contest. Pacey is going with his father John even though they hate each other. Mitch is going even though he knows nothing about fishing, so Dawson is going too, for the bonding. And: surprise! Jack is also going because Andie asked Pacey to invite him, and whoops, Pacey forgot to warn Dawson that his nostrils were in for a workout well before he gets anywhere near smelly bait. Back at home, Jen comes up with a segment idea for Gale's newscast (?) about teen girl consumers (??) and invites some teen girls she knows, including Abby (???). Gale's ability to tolerate Abby is limited even though Joey is being almost as bitchy as the show's designated bitch. Capeside is closing out tourist season with Windjammer Days, a town-wide festival of which we see absolutely nothing except the climactic Miss Windjammer pageant. Dawson thinks Jen should enter, which she takes to be a backhanded compliment about her vanity. Jen thinks Joey should enter, because her tips are drying up and she could use the $5000 prize as the start of a college fund. And Pacey thinks Pacey should enter, because his dad is ready for him to become an emancipated minor and move out on his own. Who will be permitted to enter? How will Dawson humiliate himself? We have FINALLY made it to the final episode of Season 5, “Swan Song.” Five years of our lives down the drain watching Dawson's Creek. So, we had to take this episode in chronological order because of all the madness. Everyone in Capeside is at the airport and everyone has a storyline. Some people make some very wrong decisions and some maybe make some surprising decisions. The majority of this episode takes place in the airport as we see the gang heading off (or not) for their summer adventures. A lot of shit goes down so we had to take this episode piece by piece. I do have to note that we sing A LOT in this episode…like more than usual so enjoy that...Lol!

Dawson is being extremely annoying and maudlin about his first-ever breakup, and nothing Joey says can snap him out of it. But when Billy (somehow) hears about the split and reappears to try to get Jen back some more, she firmly shuts him down, forcing him to take the long way around: inviting Dawson to come with him to a bar in Providence where Billy knows the bouncer and thus can get his underage ass in. (Pacey comes too, because...they needed something for Pacey to do.) Back in Capeside, Joey accepts a lift to school from cool football player Warren (Eric Balfour!), immediately regretting it when he claims that he and Joey had sex. Then Jen gets an idea for a mother of a revenge plan. Get your motor running for our podcast on "Road Trip"! JOIN THE AWT CLUB
After the extremely awkward events of "Detention," Dawson claims to Joey that things between him and Jen are just fine! Little does he know that Jen's ex Billy (Eion Bailey!) has come from New York to Capeside to try to get Jen back. It doesn't work immediately, so he contrives a reason to remain in town, but also cries poor, which leads to him getting billeted with...Dawson? Feels like a mistake. The addition of a crying baby to the Potter household has left Joey extremely sleep-deprived, so Dawson should be especially grateful that she has any energy to expend on his dumb whining. But when she finally hits the wall on her shift at work, Bessie orders her to go to a beach party with Pacey. Many beers are downed, and some track for one of the most memorable relationship endgame reversals in TV history is laid! Hurricane Chris is bearing down on Capeside, but it can't really compete with the shitstorm that drama queen Dawson's been living in since he found out about his mother's affair and his girlfriend's sexual experiences. When almost everyone ends up holing up at the Leery house, it becomes impossible for Dawson to escape all the women he's mad at, so he lefts Gale know he knows, and also ices out Jen. Meanwhile, Bessie and Bodie dodge possibly racist, definitely tactless comments from Grams about the baby Bessie's about to deliver, although at least that stops them loudly debating circumcision. I don't know what Dawson's Creek means when they say “Something Wild” but things remain pretty tame, at least in our opinion. We spend most of this episode in two locations: at the clubby club with Jen, Audrey…and Charlie and then we're back in Capeside with Jen and Dawson. At the clubby club, we're privileged to witness some of the most cringe scenes where Charlie hits on Joey, Audrey trying to get some random bro to make out with Joey, and the biggest cringe moment - Joey performing “I Want You to Want Me” with Charlie's band. Meanwhile, Dawson brings Jen “home” to "meet" his mom whom she knows and watched grow up. So, what is happening right now?
