Since Gale and Mitch's second marriage is, let's face it, fake, they've thrown a ceremony together in a matter of days. They're also throwing Dawson and Joey together, because Gale -- (a) an adult woman who (b) works with one of Dawson's other very close friends -- has asked Joey to be her Maid Of Honor, meaning she and Best Man Dawson keep seeing each other on various nuptial errands. Even Dawson, however, is having an increasingly difficult time pretending that Joey wouldn't rather be elsewhere, particularly once she finds out about Pacey's plan to spend the summer sailing to Key West on the True Love. She's still so oppressed by her supposedly beautiful friendship with Dawson that she won't admit what she really wants. Will Pacey's choice to paint "ASK ME TO STAY" on the wall he rented for her change her mind? Jen is still pouting so much about Henry daring to go to football camp that Grams gets sick of it, throws Jen in the car with the McPhees, and hits the road to try to run down his bus so Jen can get over herself and kiss Henry before he goes to Ohio. Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered S4E13: The Jailbirds, which aired on January 7, 1989. In this episode, Jamie and Vicki are arrested for spray-painting a wall--and its owner's $60 shirt. This was a fun episode. I love the lesson that Ted and Joan teach Jamie and Vicki also the female cop was played by Jo Marie Payton who later went on to play Harriet Winslow on Family Matters. S4E14: Rags to Riches, aired on January 14, 1989. In this episode Vicki and Jamie invent a cleaning solution. This episode is pretty much a Jamie get rich quick scheme that gets out of hand when he gets in over his head and it only gets worse when he Brandon and Harriet get involved. S4E15: Radio Days, which aired on January 21, 1989. In this episode Jamie produces a radio play about World War II. This was a creative episode, mostly the last 10 minutes was the best part. S4E16: Kid-O-Grams, which aired on January 28, 1989. In this episode Jamie starts up a singing-telegram business. This was a fun episode with the telegram business and the songs that were created were catchy. Vicki and Harriet's outfits at the end were cute.

This week we fire up a Wurlitzer and crack open an oyster as we celebrate one of the aspects of the Goon Show that made it so unique: the sound effects. Joining Tyler to talk about some of our favourites are Chris Smith and Graeme Lindsay-Foot and the idea for the show first occurred to Chris when he heard a news item on the radio several years ago. According to Chris: "They covered the recent creation of a "sounds archive", dedicated to preserving sounds previously very familiar butwhich are fast fading in popular memory, such as a steam train or bakelite telephone dialling tone (or its ring for that matter), or cine camera or film projector. The point being that the "lifespan" of familiar sounds is becoming shorter as technology and equipment changes - leading tothose sounds literally fading away from popular memory."Taking this as a starting point, they consider what effects in the Goon Show would totally baffle younger listeners today, before running through some of the greatest (and some fairly obscure) FX and GRAMS inclusions throughout the show's run, including many listeners' favourites such as Tom the piano-playing penguin, someone knocking on the door with a duck and the otherworldly Radiophonic Workshop effects used in 'The Scarlet Capsule'. There's also a salute to those unsung lads who made the magic happen!

I gave my youngest son relationship advice when my wife and I decided he was now old enough to date. My oldest son's girlfriend took that advice and confronted my oldest son, apparently because he wasn't respecting her or her feelings. They had a huge argument and broke up. I used a tanning booth too long and got a massive sunburn. I regret not asking the lady at the gym more questions. i accidentally walked in on a faulty interview and started asking interview questions because i was given the wrong time for lunch I'm white, my black doctor has the same last name as my mother and is from the same city, and I said we must be related. It sounded like I was excitedly telling her that my family had owned and SA'ed her family. thought it said tablespoons instead of teaspoons and ended up consuming 3 GRAMS of magnesium in one weekend My friend asked me for a Halloween animal pun for his art project. I confidently said Ost-witch, which sounds a lot like something that someone who failed art school would say. I sent a gif of Homer Simpson dressed as the devil and dancing on a grave immediately after a colleague told everyone their dad had died. A small chocolate bar. A tablespoon of honey. A hummingbird. Those are a few different things that weigh around 21g. And you can add the human soul to that list, according to the 21 grams experiment from the early 20th century. That's right; while there's no scientific evidence that the soul even exists, a theory emerged not only suggesting that it does, but also putting its weight at the figure of 21g. The 21g figure comes from research by British doctor Duncan MacDougall. His observations led him to believe that at the moment a person dies, they lose exactly 21 grams in weight. And he was also convinced that if the soul exists, it must have a weight, just like any other physical matter. How did a theory like that come about? How well was the experiment received? What changes do aging Females need to make to stimulate MPS? As women age and transition into perimenopause and postmenopause, several physiological changes, including declining estrogen levels, impact muscle health and the effectiveness of dietary protein in stimulating muscle protein synthesis (MPS). Here's an explanation based on insights from experts like Dr. Donald Layman and others: Why 30 Grams of Protein May Not Be Enough Declining Estrogen Impacts Muscle Metabolism: Estrogen plays a crucial role in maintaining muscle health by promoting MPS and reducing muscle breakdown. Lower estrogen levels during peri- and postmenopause reduce the body's sensitivity to dietary protein, making it harder to maintain and build muscle. Anabolic Resistance: With age, muscles become less responsive to protein intake, a phenomenon called anabolic resistance. This resistance means that older adults, particularly women with lower estrogen levels, require more dietary protein to achieve the same MPS stimulation as younger individuals. Leucine Threshold in Aging: Leucine, an essential amino acid, is the key trigger for activating the mTOR pathway and initiating MPS. While the leucine threshold for younger individuals may be around 2.5 grams per meal (found in ~30 grams of high-quality protein), this threshold increases in older adults. For peri- and postmenopausal women, it may rise to 3–4 grams of leucine per meal. Protein Needs for MPS: To meet this higher leucine threshold, peri- and postmenopausal women may require 40–50 grams of high-quality protein per meal, depending on the protein source. Animal-based proteins like whey, eggs, and lean meats are rich in leucine and more effective at stimulating MPS compared to plant-based proteins. Practical Adjustments for Aging Women Increase Protein Intake Per Meal: Shift from the general recommendation of 30 grams of protein per meal to 40–50 grams to ensure sufficient leucine and overcome anabolic resistance. Choose Leucine-Rich Foods: Incorporate foods like whey protein (1 scoop contains ~2.5–3 grams leucine), chicken breast, fish, eggs, or lean beef. Spread Protein Intake Across Meals: Aim for even protein distribution throughout the day rather than consuming most protein in one meal to maximize MPS stimulation multiple times. Combine Resistance Training: Resistance training synergistically enhances MPS, counteracting age-related muscle loss and increasing the effectiveness of dietary protein. Supplement if Necessary: Consider leucine or essential amino acid (EAA) supplements to meet the required threshold, especially in meals that may fall short of the necessary leucine content. Hoping to avoid telling Joey about her dad's return to drug dealing, he takes Gale's advice and goes straight to Mike, telling him what he knows in the hopes that Mike will...knock it off? Or something? Instead, The Icehouse gets firebombed while all the cocaine -- oh, and also all the kids we know -- are inside. The situation does bring Pacey's dad, Sheriff Witter, back onto the scene to be an even bigger jerk than he was the last time we saw him, which is saying something. The Leerys -- other than their poor boundaries with regard to adult/child friendship -- remain the best in parent class, Gale's decision to leave Capeside for the job in Philadelphia also causes some minor turmoil.
