Gen and Jette survived what apparently is not the final season of the series. They are handing out awards for Most Annoying, Most Growth, Best Song, and honestly, this award show was hard LOL. There were no battles for awards, just a "yeah I guess they win". Season 8 is rough but you know that ;)

I 1959 rejste Jette Bang til Qatar, som en del af en ekspedition ledet af professor og arkæolog og senere chef for Nationalmuseet, P. V. Glob. Det var helt uhørt, at en kvinde, i Qatar, fik tilladelse til at være med som fotograf. Men det fik hun altså! Sammen med etnografen Klaus Ferdinand fulgte og dokumenterede hun de stadig færre, men endnu eksisterende, kamel-nomader. Hendes helt utrolige billeder kom til at stå som et vidnesbyrd for en kultur som snart ville forsvinde. Hvad var det Jette Bang kunne, der gjorde, at hun kom ind bag de ellers lukkede og konservative døre? Sie berichten von ihren Musikinstrumenten, ihrer Aufregung vor Konzerten und davon, wie sich das Musizieren im Bridges Kammerorchester von anderen Ensembles unterscheidet. We weten vrij zeker dat D66-leider Rob Jetten het voortouw krijgt bij de kabinetsformatie (en zo waarschijnlijk kandidaat-premier wordt). De grote vraag is: kan Rob Jetten wel de premier van alle Nederlanders worden? Zegt SYP WYNIA in gesprek met PIM VAN GALEN. Want D66 mag dan wel de grootste regeringspartij worden – zoals zich laat aanzien – en Jette zegt wel premier van het optimistische, dan wel brede midden te willen worden, maar zijn Jette's partij en de persoon Jette daar wel geschikt voor? De grootste partij is namelijk niet per se de partij van de meeste, laat staan alle Nederlanders. DEZE VIDEO IS OOK TE BELUISTEREN ALS PODCAST https://www.wyniasweek.nl/podcast/ D66 is immers nogal typisch: een relatief jonge, goedbetaalde, hoog opgeleide, stedelijke groep, met een sterke afkeer van populisten en een zekere afstand tot gewone mensen en ook met andere zorgen en verkiezingsthema's dan de meerderheid van Nederland. D66 ziet geen problemen met migratie, maar wel met klimaat, de meeste Nederlanders zien het omgekeerd D66érs zien zichzelf vaak ook niet als ‘midden', maar eerder als progressief en zeker niet als rechts. Hoezo moet hun leider Jetten dan leider worden van een centrumrechts kabinet of zelfs maar een middenkabinet? Jetten lijkt trouwens eerder aan te sturen op een breed middenkabinet, dus met GL/PvdA en VVD. Maar zo'n breed kabinet vertegenwoordigt dan wel velen, maar uiteindelijk niemand. Ongenoegen ligt op de loer. De straatprotesten tegen AZC's van de afgelopen weken werpen in dat opzicht al hun schaduw vooruit, zegt Syp Wynia. Kortom, Rob Jetten is als leider van de grootste (waarschijnlijke) regeringspartij wel de belangrijkste kandidaat voor het premierschap – en wil dat ook zijn – maar het is zeer de vraag of hij daar wel de meest aangewezen persoon voor is. Teleurstelling ligt op de loer: dan wel bij de D66-achterban, dan wel bij al die Nederlanders die zich niet vertegenwoordigd voelen door D66. En die laatste groep is in de meerderheid. Gen and Jette struggled with this one. It is rough. Brooke, Haley, and Quinn decide to be super heroes (costumes included). Julian directs a commercial with Mouth's help. Chase and Chuck bond.

De nominaties voor het Gouden Televizier Ring Gala zijn bekend. Uiteraard bespreekt het panel de genomineerden: Woeste Grond, Het Jachtseizoen: Most Wanted en Vandaag Inside. ‘Ik gun De Televizier-Ring iedereen, behalve Het Jachtseizoen.’ Martijn Krabbé lijkt eindelijk zijn welverdiende onderscheiding te krijgen als beste presentator. Hij is genomineerd samen met Hélène Hendriks en Wilfred Genee. En dat hij zelfs zijn eigen opkomstmuziek al heeft aangevraagd, maakt het mediapanel weinig uit. De zieke presentator verdient de prijs dubbel en dwars vanwege zijn carrière en het is eigenlijk gek dat hij nog nooit eerder heeft gewonnen. Dan was er nog groot nieuws uit soapland. Reinout Oerlemans was als Arnie Alberts plots terug in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden en Jette van der Meij nam na 35 jaar afscheid van haar personage Laura Alberts. Mediajournalist Mark den Blanken sprak met Van der Meij en vertelt onder meer dat ze de plaatsnaam Meerdijk nooit heeft willen uitspreken. Ook komen de omroephuizen aan bod. De EO gaat samen met VPRO en Human in één omroephuis, maar de andere omroepen zijn daar niet blij mee. Mediajournalist Gudo Tienhooven vertelt hoe dit verhaal tot stand kwam en hoe hij gebruikt werd door de omroep. Frits Spits stopt als radiomaker en uiteraard wordt er in het radiohoekje stilgestaan bij zijn vertrek. Angela de Jong heeft in haar etalage ook aandacht voor de iconische dj en adviseert iedereen het interview met Spits in De geknipte gast te bekijken. La pétition lancée par Philippe de Villiers pour exiger un référendum sur l'immigration aurait atteint un million de signatures. L'écho donné et organisé par les médias Bolloré provoque une controverse sur la vocation des médias. Pour Ruth Elkrief, ces médias sont utilisés comme un instrument d'influence politique au profit d'une idéologie conservatrice, réactionnaire sur la société et pour une immigration zéro. Une quarantaine d'agglomérations en France ont mis en place la gratuité des transports publics. Le rapport de la Cour des comptes dit que cette opération n'est pas économique. D'un côté, elle fait augmenter les flux, et de l'autre, elle empêche le financement des investissements. François Lenglet pense que cela condamne les agglomérations à voir les infrastructures se détériorer. La conversation qui a été captée entre Vladimir Poutine et Xi Jinping sur l'immortalité, bien que brève, soulève des interrogations. Du côté de la tech, ce sujet redouble d'intérêt. Gen and Jette get caught in a storm that has all of the Tree Hill residents in danger. Katie returns with plans to finish off Quinn. Lauren and the kids (Chuck, Madison, and Jamie) get into an accident. Brooke tries to save them, only to be run off the bridge with Jamie still in the care. Haley and Nathan deal with a flat tire, unaware of what is happening to their friend and family.

Episode 180 is a book club episode and we're reading The Raven Boys graphic novel adaptation, based on the novel by Maggie Stiefvater, adapted by Stephanie Williams, and illustrated by Sas Milledge. This is Gen's pick and it was great to bring Jette onto the Raven Cycle bandwagon!Show NotesJette remembers Gen reading this book at their old job while on break (and being emotionally devastated by it).Luckily this one doesn't end on too much of a cliff hanger. Unlike other books we've read...looking at you Her Majesty's Royal Coven. (Don't worry, you can read all three of those now, too!)The audiobooks of Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle novels is read by Will Patton, who you might know as the white coach in Remember the Titans.There are plans to adapt all four books in the Raven Cycle series into graphic novels. The second book, The Dream Thieves, is set to come out sometime next year.If you don't want to wait for the graphic novels, the other two in the series are Blue Lily, Lily Blue and The Raven King.In our next episode we'll be talking about another graphic novel, Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley, and its film adaptation. There are six books in the series and the movie is based on all of them, but we're going to at least try to read the first two before we do the episode.
