Episode 180 is a book club episode and we're reading The Raven Boys graphic novel adaptation, based on the novel by Maggie Stiefvater, adapted by Stephanie Williams, and illustrated by Sas Milledge. This is Gen's pick and it was great to bring Jette onto the Raven Cycle bandwagon!Show NotesJette remembers Gen reading this book at their old job while on break (and being emotionally devastated by it).Luckily this one doesn't end on too much of a cliff hanger. Unlike other books we've read...looking at you Her Majesty's Royal Coven. (Don't worry, you can read all three of those now, too!)The audiobooks of Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle novels is read by Will Patton, who you might know as the white coach in Remember the Titans. There are plans to adapt all four books in the Raven Cycle series into graphic novels. The second book, The Dream Thieves, is set to come out sometime next year.If you don't want to wait for the graphic novels, the other two in the series are Blue Lily, Lily Blue and The Raven King.In our next episode we'll be talking about another graphic novel, Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley, and its film adaptation. There are six books in the series and the movie is based on all of them, but we're going to at least try to read the first two before we do the episode.

Gen and Jette have survived the barrage of new characters and are handing out awards. Who was the most annoying? Who said goodbye? What was the sone of the season? The best couple of Season 7 may just surprise you!
In this episode, I had the opportunity to sit down with the brilliant Dr. Jade Jette, a pelvic floor therapist whose passion for women's health truly radiates. Our conversation was both enlightening and empowering as we explored a topic that is so often overlooked—pelvic health.Dr. Jade walked me through the anatomy and functions of the pelvic floor in such an accessible and compassionate way. We talked about the common issues so many women quietly struggle with—things like incontinence, pain, and postpartum changes—and how education and awareness can be the first step toward healing. What I loved most was hearing about Jade's personal journey into this field. Her deep sense of purpose and commitment to helping women heal from the inside out was so inspiring. She shared powerful success stories from her practice that gave me chills—stories of women who found relief, confidence, and even joy again through pelvic floor therapy. We also talked about the importance of advocacy—how vital it is for women to speak up, ask questions, and seek the care they deserve. Jade is such a strong voice for accessibility, and she shed light on how pelvic floor therapy is becoming more available through insurance and other resources. This conversation was a beautiful reminder that true wellness starts within. I walked away feeling more informed, more inspired, and even more committed to helping women find the support they need to feel strong, whole, and deeply connected to their bodies.I can't wait for you to hear her wisdom.

Episode 172 is a book club book! This month we're talking about Gen's pick, Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler. The novel follows Lauren through her journal entries as she is forced from her home and navigates a hostile world ravaged by climate change and social inequality.Show NotesGen has been putting off this book for a long time because it takes place largely in the mid-late 2020s and that felt a little too close to home.Parable of the Sower is the first book in a planned series that Octavia Butler unfortunately didn't have the chance to finish, as she died of a stroke in 2006. The second book is Parable of the Talents, which was published in 1998. The planned third book was to be called Parable of the Trickster. As you can probably guess, a lot of what happens in this book was distressingly familiar.Did Suzanne Collins read Parable of the Sower? Inquiring minds would like to know. There are definitely some common themes with The Hunger Games series. Our next book club selection is Jette's pick, Scorched Grace by Margot Douaihy. You've also probably seen Don't Let the Forest In because it's been all over Bookstagram and BookTok. It fit so perfectly with our current creepy nature horror vibes that it was a natural pick for this episode.Somehow Jette and Gen both ended up listening to The Honeys by Ryan La Sala at almost the same time without even knowing it. Join us this episode as our guests from Aledade, Dennis Liubyvyi, Director of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research, and Jette Henderson, Staff AI Researcher, explain the world of AI and machine learning and its potentially transformative impact on health care. Dennis shares how AI models at Aledade are reshaping patient care by analyzing vast amounts of patient data to predict critical health events such as kidney disease progression and congestive heart failure. The goal is to provide more timely, targeted interventions to patients who need them most. Jette also notes the challenges that exist in these predictive models, particularly regarding biases within data sets, which can lead to inaccurate predictions and how Aledade is developing tools to help identify and mitigate these biases.
