Listen to the full episode on Patreon: patreon.com/postingthroughitIt's a listener-driven Q&A show this week and it starts with Jared breaking down the overuse of the designation “Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE).” So-called NVE is everywhere these days and some of the people pushing the phrase are conspicuously right wing. Old friend of the show Katherine Dee weighed in on the topic, and you'll never guess what her take is. The hosts weigh in on everything from coffee, to Matt Drudge, to metal, to the NBA finals, to cycling, to Hasan Piker and more. Also, Mike believes in ghosts. He's serious about it.
Episode Notes I have a hard time believing that Daniel Clowes would want his "comix" confused with Marvel's "What If?" series featuring the X-Men. And yet, that's what we are presupposing in this week's Battle Of The Atom. Are we the smartest podcast out there? No. But we are the best place to learn about the video game series Primal Roar. A video game I think Daniel Clowes would like. In this episode of All2ReelToo's ALL2 DISNEY REVIEW, we're revisiting the ‘90s family comedy First Kid—but this isn't just a nostalgic watch. We break down the film's story of a former boxer-turned-Secret Service agent tasked with protecting the President's rebellious son… a job that quickly turns into chaos, comedy, and unexpected heart. From pranks to life lessons, it's a classic setup with that signature Disney charm. But we also go deeper—because revisiting this movie today comes with a more complicated lens. We address the real-world controversies and troubling connections tied to some of the film's cast, including links to figures like Jeffrey Epstein, as well as allegations involving sexual assault and domestic violence. Listener discretion is advised for this episode. You may want to skip it if this triggers you emotionally. Starring Sinbad, Brock Pierce, Robert Guillaume, Timothy Busfield, Zachery Ty Bryan, Bill Cobbs, and featuring appearances by Sonny Bono and Bill Clinton.

Step into the dojo of ‘90s nostalgia as All2ReelToo's So Bad They're Good series kicks into high gear with a look at Sidekicks (1992)! This cult classic follows Barry Gabrewski, a bullied teen with a wild imagination and one ultimate dream—to become the sidekick to martial arts legend Chuck Norris. When fantasy starts to collide with reality, Barry takes matters into his own hands, training in martial arts to find confidence, courage, and maybe even his own spotlight. Starring Jonathan Brandis, Beau Bridges, Mako, Joe Piscopo, and Danica McKellar—with Chuck Norris playing himself—this episode dives into the film's blend of fantasy sequences, heartfelt moments, and gloriously cheesy action. Is it inspiring? Is it ridiculous? Is it both? We break down everything that makes Sidekicks a perfectly imperfect gem in the “so bad it's good” hall of fame. #All2ReelToo #SoBadItsGood #Sidekicks1992 #ChuckNorris #90sMovies #CultClassics #MartialArtsMovies #MoviePodcast #FilmReview #Nostalgia #BadMoviesGoodFun Listen now: all2reeltoo.com

In this episode of All2ReelToo's SO BAD THEY'RE GOOD series, we bravely venture into the bizarre family-fantasy fever dream that is Gooby (2009). When 11-year-old Willy is struggling through a rough patch, his childhood toy springs to life—literally. Enter Gooby: a six-foot-tall, furry, imaginary(?) monster who crashes into reality to help Willy cope… whether anyone asked for that help or not. What follows is a wildly strange mix of heart, confusion, and unintentionally hilarious moments that must be seen (and discussed) to be believed. We break down the plot, the performances, and the many “choices” this movie makes—asking the important question: is Gooby a misunderstood family film, or a hall-of-fame entry in so-bad-they're-good cinema? Starring: Robbie Coltrane as Gooby (voice) David James Elliott as Jack Dandridge Ingrid Kavelaars as Elize Dandridge Matthew Knight as Willy Dandridge Eugene Levy as Mr. Nerdlinger Mary Haney as Mrs. Williams Len Doncheff as Mr. Ogilvey Paula Boudreau as Mrs. Deacon Elle Downs as Mrs. Donnelly Ricky Hegarty as Colin Alexander Conti as Eric Luke Bilyk as Cute Kid Jack Duffy as Grocery Store Manager Daniel DeSanto as Crane Avery Bisbee as Little Girl
In this episode of All2ReelToo's PILOT ERROR Review Series, we dig up a true TV time capsule — the un-aired 1996 UPN pilot Black at Ya. Created by Rusty Cundieff, this ambitious sketch comedy pilot pulled back the curtain on the chaos of trying to produce a “Black” comedy show for a mainstream network audience. Sharp, self-aware, and ahead of its time, Black at Ya tackled industry politics, cultural expectations, and the fine line between satire and reality — all while trying to get laughs. We also spotlight the cast, including John O'Hurley, Mark Christopher Lawrence, and Justin Kirk, and break down why this pilot never made it to series. Was it too bold? Too meta? Too real for 1996? Join us as we revisit this forgotten piece of television history, explore what worked, what didn't, and ask the ultimate question: would it survive in today's TV landscape?

I've welcomed many actors I admire to Collider Ladies Night, but Thora Birch feels different. I grew up watching her. All I Want for Christmas, Hocus Pocus, Monkey Trouble, Now and Then — they all played on repeat in my home. From there, I followed her to the roles that earned her significant industry acclaim, a BAFTA nomination for American Beauty and a Golden Globe nomination for Ghost World.Since then, Birch has appeared on The Walking Dead and Mayfair Witches, made her directorial debut with The Gabby Petito Story, and now continues to make bold career choices, joining Kristen Stewart's feature directorial debut, The Chronology of Water.Based on Lidia Yuknavitch's acclaimed memoir, the film follows Imogen Poots as Lidia, a young woman who finds escape from her abusive home thanks to competitive swimming. However, that safe haven is rocked when she runs head first into a dizzying string of loss, addiction, and self-destructive choices before finding healing via her sister (played by Birch) and also through writing. With The Chronology of Water gearing up for its nationwide release, Birch visited the Collider Ladies Night studio to discuss her journey in film and television, beginning with early formative experiences on sets like Hocus Pocus and Patriot Games. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this special bonus episode of All2ReelToo, we pay tribute to the late James Van Der Beek, who sadly passed away at just 48. To celebrate his legacy, we rewind to where it all began — the unforgettable pilot of Dawson's Creek. Welcome to the picturesque coastal town of Capeside, Massachusetts — where movie dreams, first loves, and complicated friendships collide. At the center is aspiring filmmaker Dawson Leery (Van Der Beek), a 15-year-old cinephile scripting his own coming-of-age story alongside his lifelong best friends: the fiercely loyal Joey Potter and class clown with hidden depth, Pacey Witter. But life imitates drama when sophisticated New York transplant Jen Lindley moves in next door, instantly captivating Dawson and stirring unexpected jealousy in Joey. As friendships are tested during a tense movie night, sparks also fly elsewhere — Pacey finds himself drawn to the mysterious Tamara Jacobs… who just happens to be the new English teacher at Capeside High. Add in Dawson's rejection from the school's film class, and suddenly sophomore year is shaping up to be anything but ordinary. We break down the iconic moments, the unforgettable ‘90s vibes, and the performances that launched careers — including: Michelle Williams as Jen Lindley Joshua Jackson as Pacey Witter Katie Holmes as Joey Potter Mary-Margaret Humes as Gale Leery John Wesley Shipp as Mitch Leery Mary Beth Peil as Evelyn Ryan Nina Repeta as Bessie Potter With memorable supporting turns by Leann Hunley as Tamara Jacobs and others who helped shape the world of Capeside. Join us as we revisit the pilot that defined a generation, launched careers, and gave us one of television's most heartfelt teen dramas.
On episode 332 of The AwardsWatch Podcast, Executive Editor Ryan McQuade is joined by AwardsWatch Editor-In-Chief Erik Anderson and AwardsWatch contributors Dan Bayer, Jay Ledbetter, and Josh Parham to go back 25 years and take a look at the 74th Academy Awards, covering the films of 2001. On this retrospective, the AW team starts the year off with a look back at a solid year of film in 2001, that brought together some of the most memorable films of the last 25 years. But the winner for Best Picture is not one held in high regard, as A Beautiful Mind took home the top prize, a make-up win for director Ron Howard after losing for Apollo 13. While the film hasn't aged well as a winner, and even as a film, the year has with spectacular films that are mentioned throughout the show like In the Mood for Love, Mulholland Drive, Gosford Park, Memento, Ghost World, The Royal Tenenbaums, In the Bedroom, Hedwig and the Angry Itch, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and more. In their in-depth discussion, the AW team talked about the film year of 2001, briefly discuss talk about A Beautiful Mind as a Best Picture winner, and how that speaks to the legacy of their nominates and or wins, do an extensive conversation over the below the line categories and nominees for the year, and then the new version of the AW Shoulda Woulda Coulda game, where instead of individual replacements, they must decide as a group who the nominees and winners should be in the top eight categories. The rules of the game state they can only replace two of the nominees that year from each category, except in Best Picture, where the group could replace up to three films to make up the final set of five nominated films. Like past retrospective episodes, it was a fascinating, fun conversation including spirited debates, alliances, vote swinging, celebrating various movies, performances that aren't normally talked about and more that we all hope you enjoy. You can listen to The AwardsWatch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. Terry Zwigoff's Ghost World may look like a simple indie dramedy, but beneath the sarcasm, thrift-store fashion, and deadpan humor lies a thoughtful, emotionally layered adaptation of Daniel Clowes' classic graphic novel. In this episode, Laramy is joined by his wife, Bethany Wells to dig into the film's characters, themes, comic origins, performances, and lasting impact on pop culture. From Enid's iconic outlook to the movie's commentary on growing up, drifting apart, and finding identity, we break down why Ghost World remains such a distinct and quietly powerful comic-book movie. This episode also includes an important message: If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm, emotional distress, or a mental health crisis, you can call or text 988 in the United States. This three-digit lifeline connects you directly with trained counselors who are available 24/7 to offer support, resources, and help during moments of crisis. You're not alone, and reaching out is always a strong step.
In this riveting episode of #All2ReelToo, we explore the haunting dystopian Showtime film Harrison Bergeron (1995), set in a future where enforced #egalitarianism has created a seemingly perfect society of absolute equality. But at what cost? The sacrifice of everything that makes humanity exceptional. Featuring an outstanding cast—including Sean Astin as Harrison Bergeron, Miranda de Pencier as Phillipa, Eugene Levy as President McCloskey, Mairlyn Smith as Janet McCloskey, Howie Mandel as Charlie (of Chat with Charlie), Andrea Martin as Diana Moon Glampers, Christopher Plummer as John Klaxon, and Nigel Bennett as Dr. Eisenstock—this film poses one crucial question: Is peace truly worth the price of our humanity? Don't miss this thought-provoking journey into a chilling vision of the future. #HarrisonBergeron #DystopianFilm #Showtime #ThoughtProvoking #PodcastShow #All2ReelToo Listen now: all2reeltoo.com Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/c/cullenpark/membership https://www.teepublic.com/user/cullenpark Catch our captivating chats on: A review of Superman (2025) on Spoiler Alert! with Ryan Moore at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzXIIp_ifA0&t=81s Movie Smash Podcast discussing #GhostWorld (2001): https://www.movie-smash.com/episodes/episode/32534003/episode-18-ghost-world-2001-special-guest-michael-e-cullen-ii-from-the-all2reeltoo-podcast Film Talk with Jordan Ramirez, chatting about #Once (2007): https://youtu.be/fubJGxZ3NSU?si=ptSlTewm72LTVspQ Spoiler Alert with Ryan Moore and Matt discussing #MadameWeb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRXjJGtzdlU Spoiler Alert with Ryan Moore discussing #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHvsYPsvLBM&t=1471s The Family Fright Night Horror Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7kstbpDOnLQeI8BQGLzina Enjoy eerie tunes by host Matthew Haase - https://www.youtube.com/@LimitlessMatt Support us on Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/CullenPark, shop our spooktacular merch - http://tee.pub/lic/CullenPark, and catch Mike on The Nerdball Podcast - https://pod.fo/e/ba2aa Help fund our friend Mark Klein's funeral: https://www.gofundme.com/f/honoring-mark-kleins-legacy Make a difference with these organizations: Palestine Children's Relief Fund: https://www.pcrf.net/information-you-should-know/how-to-help-palestine.html The Hi, How Are You Project : https://www.hihowareyou.org/ Trans Lifeline: https://translifeline.org/ The Hotline: https://www.thehotline.org/ Matthew Perry Foundation: https://matthewperryfoundation.org/ The Trevor Project: https://www.thetrevorproject.org/ HRC Foundation: https://www.hrc.org/hrc-story/hrc-foundation Point Foundation: https://pointfoundation.org/ Direct Relief: https://www.directrelief.org/ NAACP Legal Defense Fund: https://www.naacpldf.org/ Black Voters Matter Fund: https://www.blackvotersmatterfund.org Tahirih Justice Center: https://www.tahirih.org/ Mona Foundation: https://www.monafoundation.org/ Learn more about your ad choices.
