Despite his decades-long fantastical work in Trapper John, MD, Falcon Crest, Razorback, Logan's Run, Sisters, One Tree Hill, The M Word (the film we did together), recurring roles in 9-1 -1, and General Hospital, as well as scores more, we talked pretty much NONE of that. We talked REAL talk, the hard stuff. The very hard stuff. His sexual molestation at the age of 9 by Johnny Cortes, YES, he named him, for the first time, realizing that, especially now, it's so very important. Gregory spoke of the toll it took on his psyche for years, and how he enlisted a modicum of “revenge.” But there is no justice when a child is violated by a pedophile. Do you hear that, Congress? Drinking and sexing at 11, self-supporting with a job and an apartment of his own at 14, the first non-religious conscientious objector during the Vietnam War, whose true intention was driven by motives it took Gregory years to realize. There was a suicide attempt, cocaine addiction that almost cost him everything, how he got sober, was betrayed, and miraculously turned that into a win. The spiritual awakening (realized as we spoke) that led to shedding another lifelong addiction, more insidious and perhaps even more dangerous, in a fashion. After years of shame, self-loathing, and damage done, Gregory resurrected his marriage; he and Randi celebrate 44 years and counting, his career, he's doing some of his best work, 2025 brought him his first Emmy nod and he's soon to be seen in Grace Period, a feature written and starring his daughter, Lily, directed by her partner, Peter Facinelli. What a family! Speaking of family, Gregory and Randi have 4 children, three grandchildren, and a new puppy named Henry. An avid activist, strong humanitarian, and a caring, loyal friend, Gregory is beloved by everyone who knows him. Including me.

They are a duo with a very interesting past and a wonderful new EP.  Allan was a musical late bloomer while his wife Barb has it in her blood, literally. Her grandmother was a composer. That led to a really beautiful project, later on, for Barb and Allan. And Barb's career started in radio, not on the radio. In a bizarre set of coincidences, the two of them met prior to being formally introduced, in a few unconventional ways while Allan was in his previous band, Starlight Mints.  But once they got together, the musical magic started. They have such a unique sound. That's part of what has helped them master the art of sync. Their music has been in movies including Barnyard, Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj, Smiley Face, and The Art of Getting By. They have also made the cut for shows like Malcolm In The Middle, One Tree Hill, Californication, Gossip Girl, and Tim Burton's Wednesday. They have recently released their latest (and possibly last) EP, Periscope At Midnight and it is possibly their best set of songs to date. The six song release is pure doubleVee. Interview with Allen and Barb Vest of Double Vee. Allan was the primary songwriter, lead vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist for indie/orchestral pop band Starlight Mints, producing and releasing four albums between 2000 and 2009, with legendary producer Dave Sardy co-producing the critically acclaimed debut album, The Dream that Stuff was Made Of. Major motion pictures and television series have utilized his music, with TV shows including Malcolm in the Middle, Californication, One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl and movies including Barnyard, Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj and The Art of Getting By. The BBC mini-series Demons effectively used "Eyes of the Night" off the 2006 album Drowaton as the series' theme song. Allan's instrumental scores have been featured in Disney animated shorts, writer/director Mickey Reece's movies Seducers Club and Punch Cowboy, and in projects by Canada-based writer/director Erahm Christopher and features helmed by award-winning director Bradley Beesley among other productions. Allan has produced and arranged music for clients including Francine, Skating Polly, Student Film and Bishop Allen. He also composed the theme music for the podcast In Sickness and In Health with Dr. Céline Gounder.   Barb's diverse background includes sixteen years in public radio where her achievements included writing, hosting, and producing Filmscapes, a nationally syndicated film music program. She edited a music webzine for several years and marketed and produced eight garage sale/shows featuring local bands and merchants. While Barb's vocal music history includes appearing in themed cover shows and providing backing vocals on recordings for local bands, her love of music began with her family, with her grandmother regularly putting a tape recorder on her piano bench and singing along to her original compositions, before she passed away after a sudden heart attack at the age of 57.  Barb grew up singing around the piano with her mother and sister.  She enjoyed writing poetry and short stories during her younger years and loves exploring the inventive worlds of lyrics and songwriting with Allan.  When they're not creating new music, Allan and Barb enjoy working with clients…teaching, recording, producing music and videos and more. In their free time, they like to travel, watch movies, hike, and spend time with friends and family. Favorite hiking trails include Angels Landing at Zion National Park, Precipice Trail at Acadia National Park and the Cape Lookout Trail in Oregon. They love concocting meals in the kitchen together and especially savor making Caesar salads at home and trying them anytime they're on the menu at a new restaurant. This interview we welcome an old friend back into the studio - someone who's been part of the soundtrack of our lives for decades, It's JR Richards, fromerly of Dishwalla. JR began his career as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the iconice alternative rock band Dishwalls. The bands' debut album "Pet Your Friends" dropped in 1995, and it didn't take long for them to make waves. In 1996, The Richards-penned 'Counting Blue Cars" hit #1 earning JR a Billboard Music Award for Top Mainstream Rock Track of the Year. But that was just the beginning. JR has been producing music since the '90s not only for Dishwalla but also for this own solo projects and a slew of TV shows. You might've heard his work on series like One Tree Hill, How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds and he even contributed twenty songs to the reboot of Baywatch in 2017.  Now, JR is gearing up to release his 10th studio album (5th solo), "My Darkest Hour", expected in the next few months.
