Ever think about how God uses the pieces of our lives to stitch together a tapestry of Hod's goodness? This sermon reflects on this idea and how we are called to share with good friends and the world God's goodness in our lives. Our faith is always emerging, and we have so much to learn from each other. ♥️
Jo is a first-time mama to her 4 month old son. She suffered from post-natal depression after having an emergency c-section and having feelings of disconnect from her son. Her depression worsened and she was taken to hospital and admitted into a unit for mums and their bubs. Jo talks about how much of those few months felt like an out-of-body experience and how she felt emotions she'd never felt before. She talks about how her faith in God was shaken and how difficult it was to see His goodness in the fog. And how it took her church community who rallied around her and her husband to show her God's kindness. This is an episode for everyone- not just mums! If you know of someone who is a new mum, reach out to her, cook her a meal, stand with her in prayer. It really does take a village to raise a child, but it takes a village to support the parents, too! And if you have experienced a postpartum mental illness, you are seen and you are loved. Take it from someone who's been there in the trenches too.
Psalm 133 speaks of the sweetness and pleasantness of unity among brothers--and offers us two striking metaphors for this unity: oil and dew. In today's episode we chat about Moses and Aaron (real-life brothers) as well as unity amidst diversity in our 21st century world. We conclude with the reminder that God made unity possible through the giving of His One and Only Son. The call is for us to consider our own relationships and to get rid of any toxic thoughts that may be causing division. There are times in our lives when we're faced with what feels like a mountain of a problem, and by God's grace, he moves it for us. But there are other times where God chooses not to move that obstacle. This doesn't mean that God is somehow no longer good, quite the opposite actually. God joins you right where you are to climb over that problem, no matter how long it takes. God is with us in our struggles. His goodness isn't based on our circumstance, he is always good.
As we finish up the week, continue to pray for new ways to show the goodness of God to others. What is something new you learned from this week's reading?
In Jonah 4, we find Jonah angry with God. However, he isn't angry about what God has done but rather what He hasn't. God has spared the Ninevites, showing them favor despite Jonah's wishes to see them punished and destroyed. As God reveals why, we'll see how Jonah's view of God's goodness is hampered by many of the same pitfalls we wrestle with, even today. We welcome back Dr. Bill Knott, editor of the Adventist Review, as he shares a message titled, “In the Shadow of God's Goodness.”
Christ strikes a blow first against the presumption of those who would storm their way into heaven by their good works.
God's plan for you is always the best for you for He never plans to harm you. He has always been a good, good Father to us all, that He even embraced and loved us in those times when we were still unlovable. His plans for you are good, and it will always will be.

When a loved one dies, it's a painful experience for all those left behind. Indeed, we know "he is better off" if he's a believer, but what if he isn't or if you're unsure? In this episode, Rick retells the horrific death of his brother, how the Lord magnified Himself, and the process he went through regarding the end of life and eternity.
