Currently, if a podcaster wants to get the full picture of their show's growth, they need to look at multiple analytics reports: their hosting company, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and now YouTube. Then they need to correlate how all this data is presented, since it can be very different, depending on IAB Certification, downloads, listens, and more. And that's just the podcaster - then you have media and ad buyer data, too.So how do we bring all this convoluted data together, and where do podcast analytics need to improve to give that fuller picture? Join your host Danny Brown and guest co-host Dan Misener as they dive in to podcasting's analytics problem. Our guest co-host this week:Dan Misener Dan Misener is co-founder of Bumper, a podcast growth agency. Prior to co-founding Bumper, Dan served as Director of Audience Development at Pacific Content. Prior to that, he spent a decade working in public radio at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), both on-air and behind-the-scenes. He was involved in the CBC's earliest podcasting efforts, and served as producer on many national and local news and current affairs programs. Dan has taught podcasting and audio storytelling at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto, the RTA School of Media at Toronto Metropolitan University, and through the Podcast Career Accelerator program at the Hot Docs Podcast Festival. Today we take a look at IAB certified stats for your podcast. It's hard to get new plays on our shows. The same goes for all of your social media. What is IAB certified podcasting stats and why would you care if you have them? It's a certified agency that proves the best way they can that each physical play on your podcast is by a different person. So each play counts as one play. The rules - Each play has to have at least one play by one device, playing for at least 1 minute in length. That gives 1 IAB certified play. It's a more accurate way to count download plays. Mainly to prove to ad sponsorships. They usually pay on a cost per thousand plays. So they want to accuracy when paying for these ads. Just like a work Time Clock. If you get paid by the hour. You clock in on a device to accurately keep track of the time on the job. At the end of the pay period, your supervisor usually has to verify that those hours are correct. Once approved it gets sent off to payroll to send out a paycheck. It's just a layer of proof that says this was actually played. 10 BEST PLACES TO BUY PODCAST DOWNLOADS IN 2022 https://earthweb.com/buy-podcast-downloads/ The Kris and Kristine Show podtasticaudio@gmail.com

Todd Cochrane can speak to it because he was there in the early days. In 2004, he jumped into podcasting; long before Apple became involved. As time went on he began to find ways to make money at it, including an early sponsorship deal with GoDaddy, and creating the podcast hosting company that we know as Blubrry. We try to address two very large questions in this episode: Where is podcasting headed, and what will radio's role in it be? We tackle a number of the podcast news stories, asking if the RSS Feed is in jeopardy, what radio can do to best invest in podcast, and is iHeart really number one in podcasting? (Depends how you want to count) We also ask to explain the importance of IAB Certification and if Soundcloud is a legitimate podcast host. (Again, it depends how you want to count)Todd is the host of the New Media Show with Rob Greenlee (who appeared on our podcast back in August of 2017), it airs live roughly every Saturday at Noon Eastern - but feel free to catch the podcast version or the video version on your own time.If you are looking for a podcast host with IAB certified metrics and web integration (and Todd explains why that's important in this episode) contact him here. There's more about this episode on our show page! Thanks also to the people who make this show possible every week including:PromosuiteMatt Fogarty VoiceoversJustin Dove at Core Image StudiosMegatraxNLogic
