Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
**Today's Halacha is dedicated f or the refuah and haslacha of Ronnie, Sharon, Eli and all the children of CARE** If a person forgot to count the Omer at night, and also forgot during the following day, but remembered shortly after sundown, may he still count the Omer? Let us take the example of a person who forgot to count the 26th night of the Omer, and forgot also the following day, until a few minutes after sunset. It is obvious that he cannot count with a Beracha, since one does not recite the Beracha if he forgot to count at night and counts the following day. The question, however, is whether he can count the 26th day without a Beracha and then count the 27th day that night, after dark, with a Beracha, just as one would if he counted during the day before sundown. The 13.5-minute period immediately after sunset, which is called "Ben Ha'shemashot," is a time of "Safek" (uncertainty), which means that it is uncertain whether it is regarded as daytime or nighttime. The question thus becomes whether counting the Omer during this period fulfills the previous day's counting, or whether we must consider the possibility that the subsequent day has already begun, such that it is too late to count the previous day's counting. This issue is subject to a debate among the Halachic authorities. The Hid"a (Rav Haim Yosef David Azulai, 1724-1806), in his Birkeh Yosef, writes that in such a case one cannot continue counting with a Beracha. Hacham Ovadia Yosef, however, in his Hazon Ovadia – Hilchot Yom Tov (p. 238), disagrees, and claims that counting the Omer during "Ben Ha'shemashot" suffices to allow one to continue counting with a Beracha. He adds, however, that a person in this case must ensure throughout the remaining nights of the Omer to count after "Ben Ha'shemashot." Since he has established that he considers this period daytime, he can no longer do the nighttime counting during "Ben Ha'shemashot," as he would then be acting in a self-contradictory manner. Rav Yaakob Haim Sofer (Baghdad-Israel, 1870-1939), in his Kaf Ha'haim (#83), writes that a person in this case should ensure henceforth to hear the Beracha recited from somebody else, rather than actually recite the Beracha, in order to satisfy all views. One who wishes to follow this stringency may certainly do so, but according to the strict Halacha, an individual in this case may continue counting with a Beracha, provided that he ensures to count after "Ben Ha'shemashot," as discussed. Summary: If one forgot to count the Omer at night and also during the next day, but he counted during the 13.5-minute period after sundown, he may continue counting on subsequent nights with a Beracha. He must, however, ensure from that point on to count after this 13.5-minute period, since he has established that he treats this period as daytime. One who wishes to be stringent and satisfy all views should try to hear the Beracha from somebody else for the rest of the Omer period, rather than recite the Beracha himself.
Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
**Today's Halacha is dedicated f or the refuah and haslacha of Ronnie, Sharon, Eli and all the children of CARE** If a person is unsure whether or not he counted a day of the Omer, and cannot determine conclusively if he had counted or if he had missed that day, he continues counting the Omer each night with a Beracha. This is the explicit ruling of the Shulhan Aruch. However, this Halacha applies only in cases of general uncertainty whether or not a day of counting was missed. But if a person knows for certain that he did not count one night, and is unsure whether or not he counted during the next day, then he continues counting without a Beracha. This is the ruling of the Erech Ha'shulhan (Rabbi Yishak Taib, Tunisia, 1786-1828). Since he knows with certainty that he had not counted at night, he may not count with a Beracha unless he knows for certain that he counted during the next day. If a person knows for certain that he counted, but is unsure whether he counted the correct number, as he suspects that he might have counted incorrectly, he may continue counting with a Beracha. This is the ruling of Hacham Ovadia Yosef in Hazon Ovadia – Hilchot Yom Tob (p. 238). If one did not count the Omer until the end of the night, and he is unsure whether he counted while it was still nighttime or whether it was already the beginning of the next day, he continues counting with a Beracha. This is the ruling of the Maharash Engel (5:48).

In North Carolina, the state Supreme Court has just issued a ruling forcing the state to count tens of thousands of votes that are missing crucial details, such as having no driver's license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number on file. This decision is especially crucial given the fact that the election in question is currently split by only about 700 votes—meaning this one decision can actually change the outcome of the race.

SONNETCAST – William Shakespeare's Sonnets Recited, Revealed, Relived
Sonnet 127 is the first of 26 poems in the 1609 collection which together are generally known as the Dark Lady Sonnets. While William Shakespeare himself never uses the expression 'Dark Lady' any more than he uses the term 'Fair Youth' in these sonnets, it is entirely clear from this sonnet onwards that this much shorter section concerns itself with a woman who has dark hair, dark eyes, and a complexion that is most likely tan or olive, as opposed to pale. The sonnet sets a tone that is ambiguous, somewhat distanced, perhaps slightly ironic, perhaps also quite sincere, but neither of these in an obvious, let alone straightforward way, and it establishes from the outset that the person our poet is now talking about is his 'mistress', and that she does not fit the hitherto or until recently accepted ideal of beauty. In fact, she represents, so the sonnet tells us, the exact opposite of what used to be considered beautiful, but although Shakespeare does not exactly sound overjoyed at her kind of beauty being recognised, he still values this genuine, natural beauty above the cosmetic artifice that apparently has now become the fashion.
Jesus, though sinless and divine, willingly took on the status of a criminal, fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy and demonstrating the depths of His love for humanity. His crucifixion alongside thieves and His comparison to Barabbas show that no one is too far gone for His grace—He descended to the lowest place to lift us up. As we prepare for Easter, we are reminded that true greatness is found in humility and service, just as Jesus humbled Himself for our salvation.
It is easy to approach those who disagree with our faith from a position of contention, but is that they best way to share the love of God with those who need Him the most? On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we shared strategies on how to lovingly engage the doubters in our lives without creating tension or compromise on what we know is true. Who is God to Americans today? We spoke to a highly respected chronicler of societal trends who explained the drastic changes in how Americans think of God from past generations, why He is being minimized in their daily lives and why believers must grasp these seismic changes in thought and understanding to better fight for their faith. God's miracles are all around us—sometimes they're the big, awe-inspiring moments we can clearly see, but often they're the quiet, everyday blessings that go unnoticed. From the healing of bodies to the restoration of relationships, God's hand is at work in ways we can't always measure or even understand. These uncountable miracles remind us of His constant presence, His grace, and His love for us. Whether it's the miracle of a answered prayer, a changed heart, or the gift of another day, His miracles are countless and His faithfulness is beyond our ability to number. Join the Conversation:What miracles have you witnessed in your life, both big and small? SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts:Your Daily Prayer: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-prayer/Your Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse/ Full Transcript Below: Miracles that Cannot Be Counted By: Whitney Hopler “But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.” – Job 5:8-9, NIV. This verse highlights God's unlimited power. Our God is a God of miracles! When I see countless Christmas lights shining brightly on a dark night, I like to think about the fact that God is constantly up to something wonderful – much more often than I can count. God's light is always overcoming the darkness in our world. We just have to pay attention to notice it. God operates in ways that are far beyond our limited human understanding. God's wonders are too great to fully grasp, and this is precisely what makes them miraculous. When we encounter situations in our lives that seem impossible, we must remember that nothing is too difficult for God to do. This verse also speaks of God performing so many miracles that they can't be counted. God's miraculous power is not confined to a few select moments in history. Instead, God is constantly doing miraculous work in such abundance that we can't even understand or count it all. From answering prayers to working through creation, God is performing miracles all the time – even if we don't always recognize it. When you think about it, how many times have you been protected, provided for, or blessed without even realizing that it was God at work? The breath in your lungs, the beating of your heart, and the peace that sustains you through difficult times are all evidence of God's wonderful work in your life. God is always ready and willing to do something wonderful for you, if you ask him to do so. God invites you to come to him with your needs and dreams. He wants you to pour out your thoughts and feelings honestly, and to seek his help. God is approachable, compassionate, and eager to intervene in your life. So, you don't need to hesitate to ask God to perform a miracle when you need one. God's miracles are often linked to faith. While God is not limited by your faith, God loves to know that you trust him and his power to help you. When you come to God with faith, believing that he is really able to help you, you open doors for God to do miracles in your life. One of the challenges you face is waiting for God's miracles, especially when you're going through difficult challenges. But just because you don't see a miracle immediately doesn't mean that God is not at work. Sometimes, God's timing is different from yours because he sees the bigger picture. God's delays are not denials. Instead, they're divine setups for something greater than you can imagine. Not all miracles are dramatic or spectacular. Some miracles are as simple as a timely word of encouragement, an unexpected provision, or a broken relationship healing. It's important to learn to recognize and appreciate these everyday miracles because they're just as significant as extraordinary miracles. God is constantly working behind the scenes, orchestrating events for your good. So, live with the expectation that God is always ready to do something wonderful in your life. His wonders are beyond what you can understand, and his miracles are beyond counting. Approach God with faith, lay your causes before him, and wait expectantly for God to answer you. No matter what you're facing today – a financial burden, a health crisis, a broken relationship, or a season of uncertainty – know that God is able to perform miracles beyond what you can imagine. He is not only capable, but also willing to intervene on your behalf! Intersecting Faith and Life As you consider how God can do something wonderful and miraculous in your life, reflect on these questions: When was the last time you witnessed or experienced a miracle, big or small? How did it affect your faith? In what areas of your life do you need to appeal to God and lay your causes before him? What is holding you back? How can you start expecting God to work wonders in your life? Are there any “small” miracles in your life that you may have overlooked or taken for granted? How can you develop a greater sense of gratitude for God's daily blessings? How can you encourage someone else who is struggling to see God's miracles in his or her life? What testimony can you share to inspire faith?
