Starting is always the hardest part. For many investors in this industry, it can be quite challenging to move from zero to two to five years. Achieving success in a relatively short period of time, Jamie Bateman of Labrador Lending sits down with Chris Seveney to share his story—from the highlights to the lowlights—and the lessons he learned through it all. He talks about self-managing properties, notes investing versus real estate, doing JV deals, and leaving your full-time job. He then shares with us the assets he has under his portfolio—whether they are performing or not, JVs or partials—and his insights into each of them. Join Jamie and Chris in this conversation as they discuss more wisdom about starting and growing in real estate.
Let’s be honest...most of us have tried some kind of diet at some point in our lives. And most often, it is to lose weight or achieve some kind of body ideal that we have set in our minds. But dieting can easily send us on a track to disordered eating, negative body image and poor self-esteem. When we fixate on foods being good or bad, numbers on the scale, and the never ending quest to lose “just 5-10 pounds,” it can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, and even trauma. The diet industry makes millions of dollars by marketing unattainable standards of thinness to women that are based on western beauty standards and completely dismiss healthy living and eating habits based on ethnic, religious or other cultural traditions. And when we have these images delivered to us constantly through tv, social media, and print, it is very easy to develop a negative with food and the scale. Join Jamie and her guests, Tonya and Tracy as they explore how you can push back against the diet fad industry, find peace with food, and develop a more positive relationship with your body. Waiting to be a certain size, lose a certain amount of weight, or waiting to look a certain way. They have conversations about life, weight, Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size, the pressure to be thin, and live up to these standards of society. Tonya is a certified Intuitive Eating coach Health at Every Size® advocate and nutrition counselor. She's working to break the mold of who and what a nutritionist is. She works with others to find freedom in their relationship with food. Her favorite part of working with clients is helping them set up an Intuitive Kitchen. Tracy is a body image coach. She helps women find confidence in the bodies they have. She's no longer waiting to be a certain size but accepting her body the way it is. One of the most powerful ways you can step into fullest alignment and live your best life is to allow your internal spirit to truly guide your decisions and your actions – to trust what your intuition is telling you to do. Trusting your intuition is not only knowing how your inner spirit communicates with you, such as feelings in your body or emotions that you experience, but it is also fully trusting and leaning into that, no matter what the external world is telling you. No matter what fears or doubts you might be having. As a therapist that specializes in mind-body-spirit living, one of the key components of my work is helping individuals (and couples) connect with their true, authentic selves. This means embracing all pieces of their identity, the good and the bad. The light and the dark. The beautiful and the ugly. We are complex, holistic made of memories, experiences, emotions and thoughts, and in order to be healthy and whole, we must be willing to integrate, accept, and even embrace ALL pieces of ourselves. This is hard to do though. And for many people, if we feel shame or guilt about pieces of our identity, we may develop unhelpful behaviors to cope, with perfectionism being one of those behaviors. Join Jamie as she identifies 3 common ways perfectionism can creep into our daily lives and provides you with 3 strategies you can implement now to overcome your perfectionist tendencies. Lack of confidence can permeate so many areas of our lives - the type of jobs we accept, the relationships we choose, the partners we seek out. It can even influence our ability to engage in self-care, such as choosing healthy, nutritious foods and finding time to include exercise in our daily routines. If we don’t feel good about ourselves, that will reflect in how we interact with the world around us. Essentially, how we feel about ourselves at our core influences literally everything that we do.
