Star Trek: Discovery – Season 2, Episode 12: Through the Valley of Shadows For episode 37 of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Ruthie and I discuss Season 2 Episode 12 of Star Trek: Discovery, which is titled, Through the Valley of Shadows. This episode was written by Bo Yeon Kim & Erika Lippoldt, and it was directed by Douglas Aarniokoski. This is the third time the writers have worked with Aarniokoski, as he also directed their Short Trek, The Brightest Star, and S2E6, The Sound of Thunder. Discussion on Through the Valley of Shadows begins at 20:11… We begin the podcast with feedback from the previous episode, and we had quite a lot of it. We get into this episode 20 minutes 11 seconds into the podcast. Fred’s Pics! We have been blessed yet again with pics chosen by Fred from The Netherlands, including the cover image. We thought last week’s experiment was a big hit, so we’re going to do it again, and let Fred’s pics do the talking for us! Before you look at pics from Through the Valley of Shadows… We both loved this episode, one of the better ones of Season 2. We’ll be back next week with our next episode. As always, your feedback is essential to this podcast! We’ve had a short feedback deadline most weeks this season. We’ll cover more feedback from S2E12 Through the Valley of Shadows, so do not hesitate to send in your feedback if you miss the deadline. For Star Trek: Discovery S2E13, which is titled Such Sweet Sorrow, the deadline to get in your feedback is Friday, April 12, 2019, at 6 PM Eastern/5 PM Central or 10 PM UTC. You can submit feedback via the Talk Through Media feedback page, Facebook Group, Twitter, you can email startrekgsm at gmail dot com, or call the voicemail at (216) 236-5449 and leave us a message there. Make sure to mention you’re calling The Star Trek Discovery Podcast when you call. We would like to keep our episodes down to a more reasonable podcast length. To help with this, we’d like you to focus on a few key points, rather than discussing everything about the episode. If submitting a voicemail, please try to keep your calls to 4 minutes or less, with an absolute maximum of 5 minutes. We would like to keep our episodes under 2 hours! Please help with that! Links to us… Want to participate? Join our Facebook group! And follow us on Twitter! And don’t forget to subscribe to us on Apple Podcasts! While you do, we’d appreciate it if you can leave us a review, hopefully, a 5-star! Or, if not, a rating will do!!! And we’re now on Spotify! HPV vaccine rates remain low with only about 16% of U.S. adolescents being fully vaccinated by the time they turn 13 according to the CDC. With about 34,000 cases of HPV-induced cancers annually, we as providers have an opportunity to encourage more parents to vaccinate their children. In this episode we talk with guests Brian Gablehouse, MD, and Sean O’Leary, MD, about HPV vaccination hesitancy, recent updates to the HPV vaccination schedule and how to utilize motivational interviewing techniques when talking with parents. Dr. Gablehouse is a pediatrician at Peak Pediatrics located in Wheat Ridge and Thornton, Colorado. Dr. O’Leary is Director of the Colorado Pediatric Practice-Based Research Network and works on the Infectious Disease team at Children’s Hospital Colorado; he is Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Utter failure permeates this week's 12 Monkeys episode entitled Blood Washed Away, but at least we got our "Casserole" moment! Talking Poofy (Scott Brennan, Adam Richard, Toby Sullivan) present The Poofcast 42 (Season 2 Episode 12) featuring guest-stars Richard Watts, Paul Horan and Wes Snelling. Dear Talking Poofy continues to push on through the Talking Poofy Sex Survey results, and Richard Watts gives us a poof's guide to AFL, to help the sports-illiterate homo survive the dreaded footy finals barbecue season. The Grunt Report finds Grunty McFarkring milking money out of marriage, Wes Snelling finds himself stuck in a box in Where's Wes? and we find ourselves surprised and delighted as Mother Paul Horan educates us on the Catholic church's gay saints, Sergius and Bacchus. Then there is the increasingly distressing Is That a Thing? where we discuss a decidedly unsafe sex practice and whether it is at all practical. WARNING The Poofcast contains coarse language, sexually explicit discussion, gay saints, footy slash fiction, and the perpetually confused Wes Snelling.
