Praxis begins a 7 part series on keeping our eyes on Jesus, and how he helps us through our present time by looking into the future. Our intern at Praxis Kelly Lin, gives us an introduction to the book.
In this final sermon of the NT character series, intern young adult Pastor Kelly Lin Dickinson shares a beautiful picture of women in the Bible, particularly the Woman at the Well, and how a sociocultural perspective changes so much how much Jesus cared for her, and broke so many norms to include her. We too may need to break some norms to serve and love people better.
Join Joey Oh and Kelly Lin for the lesson study this week.
In this last sermon on the book of Acts, intern Pastor Kelly Lin shares that especially in seasons of storms, in seasons of grayness, Paul's unshakable confidence in God made him a leader among men, even though he was a prisoner of Rome. The storm and the danger and the shipwreck were real, but God was more real to Paul than the dreadful circumstances. Seeing Paul's heart to serve in every place, wherever God has planted him, forces us to ask ourselves, how can we be the change in our community?
In this episode we learn that the actions and character of one person brings community together. Paul does that—He made it possible through Christ Jesus to extend the Christian gospel, the story of God's redemptive love, overseas. How can we learn from the early church and be examples of community in our every day lives?
In this section of Acts the early church faces a theological and practical hurdle, "do we allow outsiders into our community?" Kelly takes a redefining look at what community is to help us understand how to provide genuine community for new people with safety, security and belonging.

The two top hitmen in "Asia" battle for bragging rights and the love of the same woman. In director Johnnie To's 2001 flashy ode to Desperado via Poinrt Break (?) and Leon The Professional (??!), Andy Lau (Lok Tok-wah) hams it up trying to dethrone top dog Takashi Sorimachi (Lok Tok-wah). In the middle of all this chaos and violence bored video store employee Kelly Lin is dragged along whilst Simon Yam plays the grizzled interpol agent trying to make an ending of his own.

Kevin Kelly (CMU Pittsburgh), Hanti Lin (CMU Pittsburgh), and Hannes Leitgeb (LMU/MCMP) present formal theories of acceptance and their application in part 1 ("Table of Contents") of the Round Table on Acceptance (3 Feb, 2012). Abstract: The Bayesianist concept of belief is described by a measure-theoretic and thus quantitative approach to probabilities as changeable degrees of belief, whereas classical epistemology views belief/acceptance as a qualitative notion. Questions arise from this contrast: How can the two concepts be related? Which bridge principles can be drawn on to accomplish this task? This public MCMP event is to bring the philosophical theories of Leitgeb and Kelly/Lin to one table.
I'm excited to have Kelly Lin on the show! Kelly Yu-Chieh Lin is a concert pianist currently living in NYC.
