Trombone player and leader of the Mosaic Jazz Ensemble Lee Orszaczky spoke about the stories and experiences that encouraged his taking up Jazz and a sense of being ‘thrown’ into the school Jazz Orchestra in Year 7.  The school Jazz Orchestra was led by Pianist David Allen (now touring with Tones and I) for which Lee can appreciate the enormous amount of practical experience this band gave him. Lee says that the biggest learning experience he has recieved is to trust in your elders and listen to every word they say.    Lee recalls enjoying a gig where he met Herbie Hancock, and the many moments of pure joy putting together this 2nd album from Mosaic – Rinse and Repeat Mosaic are touring to launch the album: May 28, 2026 – Album Launch Tour commencement – Lazybones Lounge – Marrickville NSW May 23, 2026 – Smiths Alternative – Canberra ACT May 25, 2026 – The Jazzlab – Brunswick VIC July 3, 2026 – Launch Tour Finale – Church Street Studios Camperdown NSW Lee Orszaczky was guest of Bent Notes on Sunday May 17, 2026 Bent Notes – 2 hours of Jazz and Improvised Music – 7 o'clock every Sunday night JOY 94.9 – Out.Loud.Proud – Your Voice – Your Radio Station Support this podcast, Donate to JOY; Become a member The post Mosaic goes for a Rinse And Repeat appeared first on Bent Notes.

Performance and Works used with permission from the artist and venue. Nathan-Paul grew up a pastor's son here in Cleveland, and knows how to deliver sound medicine to the people. His velvety lo-fi sounds are a vibe-heavy soul party, fusing modern trap, 70s funk, and fiery southern gospel. And Fusion is an apt word for this performance, which he terms Livf's Notes. This show is steeped in improvisation, borders on free jazz but really is best described as an hour of experimental Fusion. Featuring Garret Folger on Trumpet, Zaire Darden on Drums, Kip Reed on Bass, Chris Anderson on Trombone, Howard Alexander on Piano and Nathan Paul on Saxophones and from a September 27th, 2025 performance, it's Nathan Paul's Life Notes…Live at the Bop Stop.

In this podcast, Rinus Gerritsen and Martin Kuiper discuss "Flying," a song by Rinus Gerritsen, which he sings himself (with Koen Herfst on drums and Harrison Young on trombone). In "Flying," Rinus reflects on the unique journey he took with George, Barry, and Cesar as Golden Earring. The song is the second release from Rinus' Garage, Rinus Gerritsen's solo project. Every month, the former Golden Earring bassist releases a new song, often featuring a guest vocalist. Each song has its own podcast, in which the band discusses the track's origins. Every song has a unique story and a unique musical flavor. The GIJOE Holiday Special was produced by Joe Slepski and Ted Jacobson Written by Joe Slepski Musical Segments produced by Ted Jacobson All GIJOE characters are owned by Hasbro and celebrity voices were impersonated. Except Santa Claus. He's very real. This is a loving tribute to our favorite afterschool cartoon, filtered through the legendary Star Wars Holiday Special and an absolute joy to put together due to the incredible talents of our cast. Derrick LeMont (Alpine) is a super talented actor and delight to work with, based out of Los Angeles. You've seen him on Black Lightning and the TV series Them! Check out his IMDB page and follow him! Rammel Chan (Quick Kick) is one of my great creative friends, who took time from his busy stage and screen career (Chicago Med, Somebody Somewhere, I Used to Go Here) to lend us his brilliance. Watch his IMDB page for some exciting new ventures! Joe Goltz (Bazooka) is a longtime creative partner of mine, friend and more importantly, an amazing Trombone player in the Youngblood Brass Band. If you don't know them, educate yourself and thank me later. Paul Galliano (Firefly) Paul is an actor that always delivers, a major GIJOE friend and more importantly a great friend of mine. One of the nicest, most talented people you'll ever know, give him a follow and a Yo Joe! Mark Silgalis (Major Bludd) has been a friend of mine since High School! He played Bludd in our Cold Slither episode and absolutely showed up with his performance here! Bulldogs for life! Phil Morris (Mr. T) Phil Morris is a Hollywood staple. You've seen him on Knight Rider, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, Doom Patrol, he was Smallville's Martian Manhunter, and he is Seinfeld's Jackie Chiles! What a gentleman and friend, follow Phil and give him some GIJOE fan love. Doug Erholtz (Jackie Love) previously our Columbo, brought DIC's very own Jackie Love to life. Doug has voiced dozens of Anime and Video Game characters, from Street Fighter's Vega, Final Fantasy's Squall to the main Care Bear himself, Grumpy Bear. Find him at fan conventions and say hello from Joe on Joe! Mike Irrizzary (General Hawk) of the What's on Joe Mind Podcast once again returned as General Hawk and he's so good, we need to lobby Hasbro to cast him officially. Mike is a great friend and podcaster and you need to listen to What's on Joe Mind every week! Plug the show! Josh Eggebeen (Tiger Force Outback) Josh runs the After Action Report books and you won't find a more comprehensive look at the comic books of GIJOE than the AAR Books. Check them out! Colton Adams (Tollbooth) is a young actor making a big splash on stage and screen, as his growing IMDB page can attest to. He's such a bright light and I am insanely proud to see him following his dreams. John Pearson (Shipwreck) doesn't realize I'm going to be writing Shipwreck stories where he and Polly get into wacky adventures and Shipwreck learns life lessons. This talent is now in the fold! Josh D. King (Dee-Jay) is a multi-hyphenate talent. Not only is he a musical force, with songs on Spotify and Apple music, but has a new clothing brand, Incklined and a wonderfully successful children's book, I'm a Brilliant Little Black Boy. I was so happy he could join us, as I've been friends with his incredible father for many years now. Talent doesn't fall far from the tree! Our Satin and Weird Al musical segments were written and produced by Ted Jacobson! Wonderful writing brought to life by the vocal stylings of Chiquita Bakana as Satin, and the trio of Rocky Sams, Dimitry Karev & Micko D performing the Weird Al Polka Tribute. Ted has put together complete music videos to go with them on his BarkingFridge YouTube channel. Follow him and subscribe! Matt Plassman (Mainframe) is still tracking Santa, from writers rooms across Hollywood. An incredibly talented writer and continues to bring Mainframe to delightfully nerdy life. Monkees for life. Kevin Brennan (Wild Bill) Everything is bigger in Texas, but nothing bigger than the heart on Writer, Actor and Producer Kevin Brennan. Look for his hilarious movie, It's a Disaster on streamers everywhere. Chrisi Talyn Saje and Jeremy Saje (Cobra Newscasters) Chrisi is the force behind an amazing radio drama podcast, Madison On The Air. With Jeremy as producer, Madison travels through real life vintage radio dramas, bringing modern ridiculousness to vintage episodes. Give that show a listen and follow, they're wonderful friends. Lizzie Czerner (Mary Lou Retton) is just talent through and through. You've heard her before on our My Special Missions episode and she played Satin in our Cold Slither Behind the Rock. This time she brought the effervescent and iconic Mary Lou Retton to pre-recorded life. Brilliant! Rebekah Walendzak Slepski (Cover Girl) Toilet'eel herself brought our favorite Wolverine driver to life. Rebekah is as talented as she is lovely, sharp witted and the kindest sketch comedy instructor/union organizer/actress/writer/director you'll ever meet. None of this would happen without her, so blame her. And as always, I thank you listeners for your years of support, as we head into our 10th year of doing Joe on Joe! I appreciate you more than you'll ever know. And now you Joe, and Joeing is half the battle. The Trombone Corner – 2025 Holiday Episode Cohosts Noah Gladstone and John Snell post up by the fireplace with eggnog and a tradition that's equal parts heartfelt and mechanically questionable: Noah lights his custom Trombonorah—a menorah built from a trombone bell, with a few trumpet valves thrown in for reasons that will make sense to exactly no one. From there, it's a holiday-themed conversation that bounces between trombone life, seasonal rituals, gear talk, and the usual detours you'd expect when brass players are left unsupervised. And yes, we brought in reinforcements: Jay Friedman (retired Principal Trombone of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and jazz great Michael Dease join the festivities, adding equal parts wisdom, stories, and top-tier trombone perspective.

In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, brought to you by Topo Athletic, we are joined by Amy Hunsucker. On trail, Amy is known as "Slider" because she hikes with a trombone- something she's done for the entire triple crown. We of course learn all about this fun quirk, including which animals were most appreciative of her on-trail concerts, which parts of trail provided the best acoustics, the reactions she'd get from other hikers and the broader trail community, and her go-to on-trail trombone jams. Slider also gives us the low down on getting her sawyer certification, her trail maintenance work with the Carolina Mountain Club, hiking South Dakota's Centennial Trail, and life as a hiking guide in North Carolina. We wrap the show with the pieces of thru-hiking advice we wish we'd never given, Chaunce gives her take of whether she'd rather be alone in the woods with a man or a bear, we do the triple crown of freezer foods, I give a one-minute gear review of my current rain jacket, and a listener lectures us on how we dropped the ball on our interview with Liz Kidder. Break 1: Kia MOG STORY 1: Falcons serve up support for breast cancer fighters at Dazzle & Dine event Zach Harrison stood at the hibachi grill, spatula in hand, a crowd of phones aimed at him like it was game day. “More veggies?” he asked, flipping a perfect scoop onto a plate. The crowd? Lost it. On last Tuesday night, five current and five former Falcons swapped helmets for aprons at Fumi Hibachi & Sushi in Duluth, cooking dinner for ten women who’ve battled breast cancer. “It’s a dope event,” said running back Tyler Allgeier. “Seeing their smiles—it’s awesome.” The night, part of the Falcons and Emory Healthcare’s Dazzle & Dine, wasn’t just about food. It was about celebrating resilience. Alexandra French, cancer-free for five years, said, “Tonight reminded me I’m still beautiful, still here, still me.” The women, treated to massages, makeovers, and a shopping spree earlier, walked into the restaurant on a pink carpet, greeted by applause and players ready to grill. From fire volcanoes to flying rice, the players brought their A-game. STORY 2: Beckles to deliver keynote address at KSU Fintech Hackathon State Rep. Arlene Beckles, is set to speak to over 200 students later this month at Kennesaw State University’s Fall 2025 Fintech Hackathon. The event, running Oct. 24-25 at the KSU Center, challenges students to tackle real-world fintech problems—think payment security, compliance headaches, and cybersecurity. Beckles, a member of the Georgia House’s Technology and Infrastructure Innovation Committee, will deliver the keynote, emphasizing the role of young innovators in Georgia’s “Transaction Alley.” The Hackathon offers cash prizes—$4,000 for first place, $3,000 for second, and $2,000 for third—judged by fintech pros and academics. STORY 3: Pipe Dream: Retired teacher Ken Leach upcycles PVC into marine life art Ken Leach didn’t plan on becoming an artist. After 35 years teaching and coaching in Gwinnett County schools, he retired in 2022, unsure of what was next. Yard work? Sitting around? Not his style. Then, while cleaning out his basement, he stumbled on a forgotten gift—a Japanese swan made from PVC pipe, given to him decades ago by a student’s dad. That swan sparked an idea. Now, Leach transforms surplus PVC into lifelike egrets, flamingos, manta rays, and more. His work isn’t cartoony—he’s all about realism, except for the bold, eye-catching colors that make his pieces pop. At Suwanee Fest, his booth won the Mayor’s Choice Award, and he nearly sold out. Leach’s art isn’t just about creativity—it’s about purpose. He’s keeping PVC out of landfills, sourcing materials from plumbers, Facebook Marketplace, and even a guy with a 50-foot trailer full of pipe. Next up? The North Georgia Apple Festival, where he’s expecting 100,000 visitors. For more on PVSea Creations, check Facebook or Instagram, or email pvseacreatures@gmail.com. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: CITY OF SUGAR HILL STORY 4: Housing Matters: Rainbow Village gala, golf tournament raise nearly $750,000 Skyrocketing rents and relentless demand are pushing people to the brink—some into overpriced hotels, others into homelessness. It’s a crisis, plain and simple. But in Duluth, Rainbow Village is fighting back. Their 20th annual gala and charity golf tournament raised an incredible $749,807 this year. The football-themed “Tailgate to Tackle Homelessness” event, hosted by Northside Hospital, featured mascots Freddie Falcon and Lil’ Fred, a mobile bar, and Emmy-winning sportscaster Ernie Johnson as emcee. Former resident Shakia S. shared how Rainbow Village’s support helped her become a medical assistant. And CEO Melanie Conner announced a bold expansion: 36 new apartments, doubling their capacity. Next up? A pickleball fundraiser on Nov. 15. Details at rainbowvillage.org/events. STORY 5: Solar power and data centers a focus for Public Service Commission candidate Peter Hubbard, a solar power advocate running for Georgia’s Public Service Commission, stood alone at last Wednesday’s debate—literally. His opponent, Republican Fitz Johnson, didn’t show. “Why didn’t you have the courage to defend your six rate hikes in two years?” Hubbard asked, staring into the camera. “And what’s your plan to lower power bills?” The PSC, a five-member board, oversees electricity, gas, and telecom providers. Hubbard is challenging Johnson for an abbreviated term in District 3, a race born out of a lawsuit that delayed elections and argued statewide voting diluted Black voters’ influence. Hubbard criticized current policies, claiming they favor data centers—huge energy consumers—at the expense of regular customers. He pushed for solar and battery storage as cheaper, more sustainable solutions. The election is Nov. 4, with local races likely driving turnout. STORY 6: Mill Creek Topples Collins Hill in Overtime Thriller For the second year in a row, Collins Hill and Mill Creek went to war in the second half. But this time, the Hawks walked away with the win. In overtime, Mill Creek’s Carson Hurter snagged a clutch interception, setting up Jayde Beasley’s two-yard, game-winning touchdown run. Final score: 20-14. Chaos on the field. Mill Creek quarterback Anderson Ragone threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns, while Beasley pounded out 158 rushing yards. Collins Hill’s A.J. Bush threw for 352 yards and two touchdowns but was picked off twice, including the game-sealer. STORY 7: ART BEAT: Stone Mountain Chorus presents 'A Music Man Showcase' at Red Clay Theatre “Seventy-six Trombones.” You hear it, and you’re already smiling, right? That iconic tune—and plenty more from The Music Man—is coming to Duluth on Oct. 26. If you’re into barbershop harmony or just need a feel-good Sunday, this is your ticket. The show kicks off at 3 p.m. at the Red Clay Music Foundry, a cozy 260-seat venue with top-notch sound and lighting. Expect a full lineup: four quartets, the full chorus, and even a Harold Hill stirring up “Trouble” in River City. Plus, Rontray Miller II—a rising star in choral music—will conduct. It’s barbershop, nostalgia, and pure joy rolled into one. We’ll have closing comments after this. Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Nikki Nash, daughter of musician, trombonist Dick Nash. Now, you may not know the face or the name, Dick Nash but you certainly know his work with Henry Mancini, or should we say Hank Mancini with some of his best known work. Before the Wrecking Crew, Dick and a small group of side-men WERE the Wrecking Crew, playing on hundreds of studio dates for film, TV and major label albums in the 50s and 60s. But as we learn, Dick Nash didn't take every date offered for a very specific reason. Our conversation with Nikki centered around her new book, Collateral Stardust: Chasing Warren Beatty and Other Foolish Things, an autobiography about her life in and around show business that is one hell of a read. Some of the things we talk about in our conversation with Nikki include notable run-ins with everyone from the aforementioned Warren Beatty, as well as Dennis Miller, Louise Lasser, Don Cornelius, Robert Hays, the Black Panthers, Robert Altman and many others. We also discuss long-lost LA restaurants like The Old World and The Luau, the best toast, the job of an A.D. behind the camera, addiction, painting, depression, growing up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles and much more. Nikki was open, honest, funny, matter-of-fact, attentive and gave us all we could handle in discussing her life and her book. And like her book, our interview was breezy and also had a lot of depth below the surface. But don't take my word for it, take a listen to this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast and see for yourself. Everyone has a story.

Join Lionel for an entertaining and informative discussion exploring the essence of film and storytelling. This episode dives deep into how the perfect blend of lighting, scenery, and music changes everything, debating why 76 Trombones could destroy a murder scene, and why the continuous addition of AI and CGI eventually causes the quality of storytelling to suffer. Lionel and his callers share insights on cinema history, from the profound nature of foreign films like The Seventh Seal and the genius of silent film greats like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, to the shocking reality of movies like Deliverance and the emotional impact of Kramer vs. Kramer.
